Rumoured to be the work of celebrated UK DJ and musician Ashley Beedle - The Heavy Disco moniker has been used to release occasional reworks and edits from Ashley's personal collection.

We've sourced these from Japan (it was destined to be a 'Japan Only' release), and managed to secure a number of the VERY limited pressing for UK and Export

So, two legendary disco flavoured rock anthems get reworked and heavily dubbed out for the more psychedelic disco dance floors.

For our 24th release we wanted to go back to our classic Funk Weapons roots, and to do that we bring you Mash & Munkee aka David Hanke & Kolja Starkowski from Germany. They have produced three slices of supreme nu-funk goodness for all you break beat loving freaks. First off we start with 'Work it Out', a full on funk fest of horns, funky bass, and enough cracking break-beats to satisfy the nimblest of b-boys. 'Giving you the Funk' does just that, complete with a jumping live bass-line, building horns and hip hop vocals and groove that eventually builds up to a nice fat synth bass-line that takes the track to the next level. 'Make A Difference' gets all Ron Burgundy on us with some funky flute and smooth blaxplotation style horns and of course another funky bass-line to keep the kids body rocking. Finally we round out the package with Neighbour's remix of 'Make a Difference', who remixes the track in his signature future-boogie style, complete with honking bass-line and smooth chords and injects back in the horns and flute to make the whole thing jam perfect for those late night roller-disco vibes.

Hole In The Sky is proud to present Tortoiseshell. This musical squad of dudes, brothers and cousins ride the sunny currents of Talking Heads, ESG, afro pop, the 80s, Howard Arkley, Roxy Music et al. They will take you to crystal, clear turquoise waters. As smart casual agents of new age song, the shells' pop manifesto is enshrined on their debut single "This Girl". Canyons produced, the release also features an extended blissed out dub mix.

Limited edition white label of Soul Mekanik's remix of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'Pleasuredome'.

This remix came about as when Danny & Kelvin were working in SARM studios with Trevor Horn on the most recent Robbie Williams record, the management there were working on the Frankie Goes to Hollywood 'Best of' and were commissioning remixes.

Being fans, Danny and Kelvin got right on it and made this very subtle rework. Mainly following the original version's structure and instrumentation, the changes are in the detail of the arrangement and a very deftly added dose of 'oomph' (technical term), turning a seminal record into a surefire dancefloor bomb. People go bonkers when this is played out.

Their remix ended up being finished a bit late (what with them being in the middle of working on Robbie's album) and not getting delivered on time, but, it is kind of brilliant. It's a shame to keep it locked up.

The cream of the Exceptional roster meets a top flight selection of name remixers. "From Disco to Dubstep" is a wide ranging electronic exploration which joins many of the dots in an ever mutating series of scenes. Released as part of the label's 10th anniversary celebrations, the release features an eclectic selection of 16 remixes of artists that currently call Exceptional home.

Touching on disco, lounge, electronica, house, electro, breaks and dubstep, amongst the familiar names are Mock & Toof's exuberant, 80's-tinged deep house remix of Plej's "Borderline", impressive deep 4/4 action from Jimpster with his remix of "Awakening" , Tom Middleton's up for it remix of "All Over Again" by Blu Marten, the bazooka-bass dubstep of The Rogue Element with his remix of Nursery of Naughtiness' "Electrified", Reso and Raffertie trading punches, and Planas' drastically different electronica restyling of Culprit 1's "Screamer". And the soulful dubby rework of Tubbs' "New Way of Life" by Marlinspike (aka hot property Red Rack'em/Hot Coins), featuring the chocolatey vocals of Joe Dukie from Fat Freddy's Drop.

The release is backed by a full on PR campaign from Rocketscience and reviews are expected in all major dance mags and online sites. It's one helluva collection and comes in a special mirrorboard wallet.

First released in 1973, the original has been sampled by Hip Hop stalwarts Immortal Technique and Nas. This is a beautiful and blissed out version.

The Stevie Wonder classic reworked for the dancefloor from the original Blue Note release. Essential DJ track.

B2. João Donato - O Morro Não Tem Vez (Onur Engin Edit) (4:14)
In the '60s the great Brazilian pianist was being rejected by all nightclubs as a performer. Ahead of his time, his modern swinging piano was too strong rhythmically and excessively difficult to follow by other musicians, and customers complained about it as not danceable. He ran out of gigs and used to ask all nightclubs' owners to play for free, just to be available for anyone interested. Even then, he was only allowed to play after 4am, when most customers were gone. This rework is made staright for the 2010 dancefloor. Big.

"Testify" is the second single taken from Boohgaloo Zoo's stunning self-titled debut album. U-Gene goes all out on the vocals while the bassline and synth stabs are clearly in the business of tearing roofs off suckers. Heavy 21st century funk!

The remixes make sure that those who like to shake their behinds to something more up-tempo get with the program as well - Soulphiction goes to work on the track not once but twice in a full-on boogie mix and one that is more on the minimal side, while Hot Chip's Joe Goddard takes it to very late night club territories.

Boohgaloo Zoo are K'bonus and U-Gene, two veterans of the Belgian and Dutch music scenes respectively. After meeting at the 10 Days Off festival in Ghent the duo started sending each other beats and tracks and soon enough a full album was in the making. Slovenian based Sare Havlicek is a busy chap. His debut album is about to burst forth this summer on Nang. To get you in the mood here we present Sares second single, the disco and 80's romper "Dreams In Light".

[aD] CD 1-4 | The Gibson Brothers - "Ooh! What A Life" (original 12" mix)

Ichisan and Nakova (aka Igor and Jure) hail from the fine country of Slovenia. Over the past few years the pair have steadily been carving out a name for their unique style of nu disco, called Yugo Disco. The Ichisan solo records have won praise from DJs and the public alike.

The track "Pionir" first featured on the Nang sampler back in 2009. The track is named after Tito's "Pioneers" the red- kerchief donned, youth movement from the former Yugoslavia. The original brims with optimism and uplifting groove in equal measures. Things ending in a crescendo of shimmering disco guitar riffs.

On the remix front Lusty Zanibar from Bearfunk turns in a stomper of a remix. He keeps things floor led but synths it up with layers of tooty synth and his trademark quirky keys. Of course not leaving out those guitar riffs in the closing 1/3 of the track.

For the final remix things dart leftward for a remarkable take from Discodromo from the Prins Thomas / Full Pupp camp. This mix focuses on the riffs and sounds to create a great sonic-curveball for early sets.

The album "Yugo Tempo" features "Pionir" and is out on (most appropriately) the 25th May (Tito's Birthday / "Dan Mladosti" / "Youth Day").
