GLBDOM is back with a second vinyl release as good as its first. This one pulls totters six super sweet racks from various artists who all share a subtly old-school vibe. The house they make comes with lovely retro-future feels and hints of 80s and early 90 magic. Jeff The Fool kicks off with timeless deep house and seductive French spoken words. The irresistible grooves come thick and fast from there with Scruscru & BR Selecta dropping in some kinetic 2step grooves, and dusty old and breakbeat sounds from FRR FONK come doused in synths soul. A trio of various jacking, smooth and soulful cuts see out the reverse.

SO, it all started with a conversation with Mark GV Taylor of Reference Point: ‘Do you know anyone who has a Grady Tate 7” ‘Lady Love’ promo single in decent condition for sale?’ It’s the song penned by Jon Lucien.
Sometime after our conversation the man himself, Gilles Peterson then dropped it as his last record in his Boiler Room x Dommune x Technics: A celebration of 50 years of the SL-1200 set and so it snowballed from there. We did some research and found out that to try and find this promotional track in form of good condition was as rare as rocking horse poo!
So here we now are, with Diplomats of Soul & Expansion Records proud to announce the first official release (from the actual master tapes) of the Grady Tate cover of the Jon Lucien classic ‘Lady Love’ with the in demand, first time 7” release of ‘Moondance’ as the B side!!
Why this never got an official release back in 1974 nobody seems to know and we will not attempt to describe this version as no words can really do it justice, if you have not heard it then once you do you will understand why we are so excited!!

Francesco Varanzano, the composer, told me how “Dimmi Bello” was born. The song had the initial title: “Dimmi bella donna cosa vuoi”. The inspiration for the writing of the text was born from reading an old book. It was an ancient text that spoke of vanity. In this song the narcissism and the domination of the patriarchy is reflected. Between the notes of a plectrum and the ink of a pen, a timeless poem was written by Francesco and sung by the sweet voice of Lucia. “Dimmi Bello” was written in 1986 and is re-printed today after 35 years with the very kind permission of two wonderful people who have dedicated their lives to music and love of neighbor, Francesco and Lucia.

A South African Boogie, dancefloor heater reissued on vinyl for the
first time since the original release in 1986.


Kalita are excited to announce the first ever official reissue of Adelle First’s highly sought-after 1986 12” South African boogie single 'Don’t Give Up'!

Originally privately released on infamous South African label Music Team’s imprint Solid Records, the single features both the shorter vocal version and devastating 9-minute long extended ‘Dub Mix’, a true testament to the genius of producer Tom Mkhize. Having recently rocketed in demand,

fuelled by equal measures of quality and scarcity, and with original copies now selling for over £200 on the second-hand market, Kalita now offer this masterpiece to the world once more, sourced from the original analogue master tapes.

Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) and James Alexander Bright's relationship started on Twitter (a place where hope usually goes to die) However, Tom had listened to James' recent release on the radio reached out to chat about working together on some tracks. Over a few months in the studio they created a mountain of work, some of which would feature on Groove Armada's recent 'Edge Of The Horizon' album. Having enjoyed working together so much, they decided to start their own project and Bright & Findlay was born. The first track they worked on together is featured as the lead on this 12" was 'Slow Dance' Funky party track with its feet firmly in 80s boogie territory and. Following tracks seemed to interweave / play alongside each other. Drums machine / chorus laden synths and guitars, and a soulful vocal are a staple of their sound. Spanish DJ, producer and Night Shift records boss Javi Frias presents a new EP of disco edits that take the vibes of the 70s and re-fit them for the current dancefloor. As you might imagine, each of the four tracks seemingly has PARTY stamped across it in giant capital lettering, from the opening stomper 'Hot Damn!' with its bright-as-a-button brass section and the wah wah guitar of 'Dance To The Music' to the proto-house of 'The Spirit'. But the best is saved to last - the bendy funk bassline gymnastics of 'Feel Good', quite irresistible.

The first drop on the new Disco Mind Records is a top collection of well-designed and perfectly executed re-edits by two Italian disco stallions, Paul Older and Bplan. Each of these men is respected for previous works on the likes of Toy Tonics and Tropical disco and here they delve into their collections and come out with four fiery and authentic new cuts. 'Ma Quale Amore' is a peak time bomb, there is groove and funk to spare on 'Travolgente' and much more to win over all sorts of disco lovers. A great start to what is sure to be a fine label.

20/20 Vision have enlisted disco overlords Crazy P to curate a brand new series of records for the label, with exclusive tracks produced by some of their favourite artists on the cards. Designed to stretch beyond the world of disco and showcase the band's wide ranging and eclectic musical tastes, there'll be Balearic moments, downtempo beats, indie dance and electronica spread over four vinyl records.
Volume One kicks things off in style with a brand new track from Crazy P themselves, 'People (We Can Transform)', a slinky medium paced groove run through with a slowly opening acid line, funky guitars and an uplifting vocal. Elsewhere, Ashley Beedle declares 'War On The Bullshit (Revive)' with a barnstorming dancefloor stomper and Felix Dickinson remixes ASHRR's 'Fizzy' into a classy noir instrumental where jazz funk keyboards swirl around a rock solid b-line. Change Request & Saucy Lady close the whole affair with soul drenched diva-fest 'Be Dramatic', definitely the most old skool of the lot. It all bodes very well for the next three instalments.

Harvey Sutherland's latest 12 marks the inaugural release for Clarity Recordings, an imprint established by Sutherland for modern Australian records.The first new music from the Melbourne producer since last year's cuts for MCDE, the double A-side Priestess / Bravado features his live trio Bermuda at full tilt, with an ensemble of hand clapping friends. Self-described lounge room disco burners, the record summons the groove experiments of Patrick Adams, Bill Laswell and Arthur Russell, while retaining Harvey's soulful tones and club-ready arrangements.
Priestess evolves slowly, a nine-minute mind dance that ultimately reaches a celestial state. Sutherland's piano lines bounce off drummer Graeme Pogson's unwavering four-on-the-floor, while one-man string section Tamil Rogeon travels skyward. Live standout Bravado is played with determined precision, locking into a tough backbeat that only breaks once Sutherland's warbling lead solo approaches its resonant peak.

The mysterious House Bros originally recorded this song in Hollywood in 1979, cut it to acetate and then seemingly forgot all about it. That sole acetate was destined for obsolescence until it was discovered some 40 years later by a devoted Northern Soul DJ. Not content with just driving dance-floors wild with his discovery, he asked Al Kent to "do something" with it. And boy did he do something! By adding new drums, Rhodes piano and strings, rearranging and extending the song from 4 minute to over 9, and adding the obligatory disco break, Al's created a modern but authentic disco epic that could just as easily have been recorded and mixed in a New York studio in 1976.

Escola Records is back in the game with their second release, a Broken Beat & futuristic Deep House odyssey.

On the first side Karmasound & Sara Bee open the EP with the uplifting soulful summer anthem “Esperándote,” full of choppy live drums, jazzy keys and sweet, melodic vocals.

Next, musclecars deliver a dreamy remix of “Esperándote,” putting a futuristic twist on classic soulful NYC deep house. Lush and sensual, with a beautiful vocal outro, the remix has a warmth reminiscent of nighttime summer heat.

“Trencacintures” (“waist breaker”) is the second original track of the EP, by Barcelona’s JP Sunshine & Guim. The title of the track is a playful reference to its “broken” rhythm. Magical keys and intergalactic pads create a cosmic atmosphere on this fun tune.

On remix duties we find the house producer Hugo LX taking the original on a deep excursion to the dance floor, adding breaks that make the track irresistibly groovy.

Samosa continues its white-hot streak for 2021 with the release of Maracuja EP, marking the welcome return of fellow Italian master of the groove – Musta.

This dazzling four tracker is Musta at his very best. Intricate and diverse, hypnotic, tribal – all the ingredients are in the melting pot here to deliver a truly distinguished and captivating release which has the Samosa stamp all over it.

Leading on the A side is ‘Welcome (To My Africa)’ – which immediately kicks off with a sumptuous rolling bass, distinctive hi-hat and rhythmic bongos to draw you in. In an instant, you’re surrounded by layers of African rhythm guitar, sharp brass and woodwind with the most infectious vocal chants. This really is Afro-Funk at its finest – a bouncing, rocking, rhythmic bomb of a track which will fill any dance floor.

Next up is the EP title track, ‘Muracuja’. With this, Musta has created a funk infused mid-tempo stomper which wastes no time at all in getting us to the centre of the action. The slapped bass, tribal beats and brass stabs lead to a glorious, harmonised tribalistic chorus which is suddenly awash with flowing key changes and melody. The breakdown only serves as a brief respite before the senses are hit again with a swirling ocarina, chunky bass and clavinet groove tidal wave. An absolute gem that is bound to feature in DJ sets and charts alike.

On the flip side, we start things off with ‘Cosmic Cut’. The drum heavy intro lasts seconds before the instrumentation subtly kicks in like a distant train approaching. The rhythm is insanely addictive; sophisticated Afro beats flow over you whilst the sizzling vocal combines perfectly with the spellbinding deep bass. This type of sound has the Samosa fingerprints all over it. Intoxicating and enthralling in equal measure, this will slide easily into any DJ set.
Closing the EP out with considerable style is ‘Cumbuco’, which is another magnificent cut of expertly crafted world music. Musta quickly lures us in with a conga beat and rolling drums; building nimbly to a mesmeric bass line and an almost ethereal looped vocal chant. Then we’re hit with the sax – oh my! A sax so dirty you want to take it outside and hose it down. This is one sexy and sensual express train combining funky bass, contagious rhythms, outrageous organ sweeps and sophisticated sample loops. A perfect final act for a sensational EP.

The Maracuja EP is another nailed-on winner for Samosa Records and is sure to fly off the shelves and onto the dance floors in the blink of an eye. Don’t hang around – get this one in your record bag quickly.
