In late 2020, Leng Records quietly reached the ripe old age of 10 years old. To mark the achievement, co-founders Paul ‘Mudd’ Murphy and Simon Purnell have compiled a special celebratory compilation featuring a mixture of historic tracks, overlooked gems, inspired remixes and previously unheard exclusives. When founding the label, the pair wanted to represent the more chugging, mid-tempo end of the dance music spectrum – the point where 21st century nu-disco, Balearica and slow-house meets 1970s art-rock, krautrock and space disco. It’s this trademark cosmic disco-not-disco sound that dominates 10 Years of Leng, proving that the duo has rarely strayed from their sharply defined ethos.



Fittingly, the vinyl version of the compilation – a limited-edition affair which boasts a gatefold double-album and a bonus 10” single tucked inside – kicks off with an exclusive: the never-before-heard instrumental mix of Mudd and Harks’ joyous recent single ‘Susta’. Other exclusives across the collection include a wonderfully spacey and dubbed-out chunk of mid-tempo dancefloor fusion from San Francisco’s Cole Odin (‘The Numbers Game’) and, on the bonus 10”, brand new tracks from rising stars Lex and Harvey Couture. From day one, Leng’s output has included commissioned remixes that are frequently the equal of, if not arguably an improvement on, the tracks being tampered with. That side of the label’s story is naturally represented on the compilation by a quartet of celebrated reworks: Mudd’s sleazy, mid-altering and insanely heavy ‘Slow Rave Mix’ of Tiago’s ‘The Source’, the glistening Balearic disco bliss of Max Essa’s instrumental version of Cantoma classic ‘North Shore’, Pete Herbert’s legendary piano-sporting nu-disco take on early Apiento gem ‘She Walks’, and an epic, dubbed-out Idjut Boys revision of Mountaineer’s ‘Golden Chalk’.

It's been over two years since Talaboman's 'Sideral' EP, a joint release out on Hivern Discs and Studio Barnhus. It was John Talabot and Axel Boman's collaborative debut and marked a new sound for the pair, consisting of rich synth motifs and vivid, afro-infused drum programming.
The two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, responsible for some of the most well-received dance releases in recent years (including Talabot's 'fin' LP and Boman's 'Family Vacation' LP) . Featuring on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Young Turks and !K7, Barcelona-based Talabot has become known for his unique take on chugging house and electronica. Similarly, Boman's refined his own dusky aesthetic via Pampa, Hypercolour and his own Studio Barnhus imprint.
Now, the pair come back together with an album's worth of material in a release titled 'The Night Land'. Due for release on (date), via R&S records, 'The Night Land' continues Talaboman's head-first dive into the deeper reaches of their conjoined musical creativity.
Nothing's really changed since their first release, apart from the fact that this time round they produced (in their own words) an absurd amount of music'. Writing sessions spread out across studios in Barcelona, Stockholm, and Gothenburg have given space to nascent ideas, where the two have been able to mature their sound.
The music is patient and warm, but also broad and diverse. 'Midnattssol' opens with atmospheric tropical panoramas, coloured by rhythmic stick hits and bell chimes. 'Safe Changes' and 'Brutal Chugga-Chugga' are hazy slow burners that crawl at a nonchalant pace, while tracks like 'Samsa' and 'The Ghosts Hood' are contrastingly more immediate and assertive.
'The Night Land', as the title suggests, is a journey inwards, an attempt to reach our subconscious and to document our dreams. We want to ignite hope and push imagination. Close your eyes and open your mind.' Even when many tracks involve the heavy use of synthesisers and distortion, Talaboman have been sure to keep things sounding organic and light.
There is no complicated message or hidden concept behind this release, it's simply two persons meeting and playing music, a catalan and a swede talking blip blop until we felt that we had something worth saying' - and perhaps unsurprisingly this impromptu style of working has resulted in an album that is rich and vivid, but also feels somehow pure and sincere.
The message is clear: Love is all this world needs. Loosen up those tight fists and give your sisters and brothers a helping hand and dance your anger away.'

More glorious heat from the vaults of NYC's Disco powerhouse - P&P Records!

One of many labels operating under the equally legendary tutelage of Patrick Adams and Peter Brown, two truly colossal figures in NYC's music scene, the P&P records catalogue is still fascinating underground dance music lovers to this day. Covering a wide range of styles including Gospel, early Rap and Disco the label's output continually finds its way into the playlists of respected DJ's and selectors across the globe. This latest repress from the vaults is a real biggie - a true NYC underground disco CLASSIC!

Cloud One was one of Adams' numerous studio outfits, featuring a ridiculously healthy dose of the man's virtuoso keyboard and synth playing. This was a progressive Disco sound, the pairing of extremely danceable funk and R&B with some spaced out over-dubbed analogue synthesizers and keys made for a heady concoction indeed, especially in 1976 when this cut was released. This was one of many Cloud One trademarks and one of the things that make these records still sound so way out today! 'Atmosphere Strut' could not be a better title for this immense slice of true NYC space Disco - it's got it all - the driving rhythms of the Cloud One band, the killer vibes, celestial vocals and Adams' totally wigged out synthesizer workouts. On top of all this goodness, the main man Kon, Boston's editor supreme and self confessed DIsco fiend and digger, has dropped a stellar and respectful edit of Atmosphere Strut' for all your disc jockeys out there, featured here across the length of the B-side thus making this an essential repress of this legendary 12". Mothball Record in association with Bordello A Parigi is proud to present one of the strangest and most mysterious recordings from the whole Italo-Disco era. Sitting somewhere between goth, italo and new wave, “Space Melody” is a dedication to ancient Egypt and outer space.
The original EP was almost totally lost to the sands of time, until recently the original mastertape was unearthed by the artist and later painstakingly transferred by Rude 66.

The record is completed by new instrumental versions from the Danish Italo king Flemming Dalum and the Spanish italo duo Futuro.

A new Cardiology must mean more surefire disco, boogie and funk heat given an artful nudge, nip n' tuck. These four pearlers will be thoroughly useful tools in your utility belt, leading in with the singalong hook of "Only You Baby" which sports a healthy dose of boogie synth work. "You" by way of contrast is a strictly organic funker looped up to perfection. "Got To Dance" takes the tempo down but piles on the groove for this heavy dose of soul, and then "Fever" takes things out on a rolling trip of percussion and classic licks that'll have you sweating in no time at all.

A&R Edits Revisited is a new series of 12” EPs from Greg Wilson’s vinyl-only label. Drawing from its diverse back catalogue, this new series sees the label re-issuing some of its evergreen classics, presented for the first time as four-track EPs, each showcasing the work of four different producers. Re-launched in the late summer of last year, A&R Edits has re-established itself as one of the authorities in the re-edits scene.

Between 2013-15 the label released edits and reworks from Henry Greenwood, Derek Kaye, Sophie Lloyd, Fingerman, Peza and Twisted Soul Collective – gifting them a platform to further their reach whilst servicing the continued growth of the scene. After four years of activity, it lay dormant for another four and returned in 2019 with the GW & Henry reworks of El Coco’s smooth grooving esoteric disco cut ‘Mondo Disco’ and Marshall Hain’s brooding Balearic treasure ‘Dancing In The City’. Whilst 2020 saw a follow-up in the form of Moplen’s edit of Tavares’ classic disco stomper ‘It Only Takes A Minute’ coupled with Greg Wilson’s edit of Moplen’s edit of Larry Levan’s mix of David Joseph’s ‘You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me)’, if you can follow all that!

The label will continue to release new material via this original series and now will be introducing its older material back into the mix with a new series. A&R Edits Revisited #1 will feature Henry Greenwood’s electrically charged rework of Neneh Cherry’s 1988 classic ‘Buffalo Dance’; Peza’s delicate yet driving update on The Blackbyrds’ slice of sunshine, ‘Walking In Rhythm’; Derek Kaye’s lively reinterpretation of The Player’s Association’s 1979 disco stomper ‘Turn The Music Up’; and Sophie Lloyd’s bass-heavy revision of Herb Alpert’s much-sampled groove, ‘Rise’. A&R Edits hopes to bring some light to the darkness of modern times with these updated gems from our shared musical history. Having inspired audiences in the past, they can now serve to inspire a new generation of music lovers.

"Sweepin 'Off" is one of the most intriguing record of the entire Roman production of 1983. Moving away from the classic repetitive and pounding strand "Italo-Disco" and thanks to the vaguely pop-new and wave atmospheres made by Stefano Galante (BlackWay & Helene, aka BWH & Asso).

Arp Frique is back, delivering four dance floor ready cuts in his signature style. 'Minina Bem Li' is loosely inspired by Arp Frique’s Cape Verdean connection through Rotterdam and Americo Brito, echoing the spacey 70s sounds of some of his favorite music. On vocal duties and doing em BIG is Mariseya aka Marissa Nyamekye. Dancefloor flavours with a zouk flow and arpeggiators on blast.

Chomp! Chomp! is a new label by Brooklyn based DJ/producers Timo Lee and Mark Chittom. Together they are long-standing members of the dance music community, both in Hawaii at DJ Harvey's Thirtyninehotel and in Brooklyn at Good Room. The label's focus is eclectic dance music created by underground dance producers, aimed at DJ’s and casual fans alike. The first EP - Chomp! Chomp! presents the debut of Golden Mammals - a collaboration between Eric from America and Chittom. Eric is a multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer with a unique style that pulls from a variety of genres. He is also an active drummer for TV Baby (with members of A.R.E. Weapons), as well as several other bands in New York and past projects in Hawaii. The EP has three original tracks and a remix. "An Hour a Day with You” blends acid house and techno with an obscure leftfield vocal by Chittom. The remix is a dubby techno slow-burner that will work in a variety of settings. On the other side, with two tracks by Eric from America, "At the Met Gala" & "For the Crowd” are two groovy techno-ish tracks with Eric’s unique touches - both are dancefloor and living room friendly. The EP is mixed by Justin Van Der Volgen and Kenji Shimoda, mastered by Rick Essig of REM Sound. Artwork by Dusty Gibbons.

'Exhumed' is the first new release by DJ Harvey’s Locussolus project since their critically acclaimed self-titled album was re-released as 'Locossulous Expanded' in the Summer of 2020, including streaming for the first time.

Originally a part of 'Harvey’s Tales from the Nocturne', this EP comes off the shelf for a special Halloween release, led by the title track 'Zombie Sex Dream' which features vocals by original band member Tara Selleck and is accompanied by a demented video directed by bandmate Sam Fox.
