Now living in Warsaw, Donnell Knox was well known, along with Black Nation's Jay Denham for forging a tough, distinct Kalamazoo techno sound in the 90s. His label, Sonic Mind, put out some very coveted, underground wax that still sounds unique, extra rugged, and fresh. Well D-Knox is now on a bit of a comeback mission it seems, with some really inspiring new material, and 'Africa Calling'. The first version, created to Donnell's much loved 'Spirit Man' alias, is a soulful trek through layers of pads and emotive synth work. The simple, but uplifting, vocal snippet really gives it an organic and spiritual feel, the tempo is driving and quick, but the overall vibe is laid back and deep.
Remixes come from the likes of Brooklyn based Titonton Duvante, who maximizes a synth pattern to a form a beautiful, reaching, version, while Canada'a Rennie Foster channels his Futago Traxx style to present a full on tribal, drum based mix with added vocal pieces. Also, Detroit transplant, now living in Canada as well, J Garrett goes in with a very emotional, warm, string laden take. The EP is capped off with another version from Donnell that could stand as it's own track really, a totally different, but equally as strong, version featuring a driving baseline and Detroit style string vamps.
A really nice release, worthy of your support, from a well loved veteran of the techno underground.

Amenta, a new vinyl only record label from Norway, delivers a solid 3 tracker on the first release. No repress!

180gr. vinyl only release

Dreiklang Records set sail in February 2016 with the excellent First Contact EP which featured OCH, Hydergine and Kelovolt, three singular artists each handing in their own contrasting take on the same source material. The Berlin-based vinyl-only label now returns with the same concept for the Loop Continue EP. For their second release Dreiklang call upon three strong figures of the techno scene, each displaying a highly distinct voice in keeping with the triangular concept of the label: Scottish veteran Edit Select and Italian purveyors of everything dark and deep, Dino Sabatini and Claudio PRC. The three tracker kicks off with the deep sub-aquatic sounds of Tony Scott aka Edit Select, who produces the original version of Loop Continue, an introspective DJ tool. The Scottish producer goes straight to the point from the very start with a dusky loop that is slowly overcome by a glistening, luxuriant drone. Claudio PRC hands in a stunning rework. A hypnotizing bass drives the track forward while tranquil chords ease in and out of focus. Finally, Dino Sabatini, a regular collaborator of Edit Select, drops in fresh from the release of his Omonimo LP. The Outis Music boss closes the EP on a dreamy piece of broken-beat where beautiful glowing drones command attention. Loop Continue is set for vinyl-only release June 14th on Dreiklang. The records will come as a 180g vinyl with handmade covers by Nils Atland, limited to 500 pieces.

Hedonism is an ethical theory that pleasure, in a sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life, and this seems to also be HDNSM's ultimate musical objective. Their first release debuted as a kickstarter of Variant EP' V.A. series, showcasing three very different yet highly contemplative creations from Cumsecade, Anestie Gomez and Man Spider.

HDNSM flips the coin and for the second episode of Variant' series it lands on two very solid, incredibly moody and extensive works from fresh talents Shcaa and Cleymoore. The EP features two very different tracks yet they share the same minimalistic core. Both works are blessed with intricate micro-drum arrangements for those feeling groove hungry whilst still standing tall in the experimental abstract realm pleasing those who crave unusual frequencies.

A-side's Masquée' is one of Shcaa's typical rides between sound and silence and it is hard to find another artist who understands sound gaps between grooves better than Shcaa does. With his signature vocals and an incredibly delicious duality between acoustic instrumentalism and electronic slamming, this is a groovy, highly deep, very intelligently arranged piece.

The flip-side Nebula', signed by Pluie/Noir's boss Cleymoore, is a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the art of stripping down. In an apparently thin canvas of minimal drum arrangements there's a vast amount of sound frequencies underneath a steady ever-kicking groove, tricking your mind into thinking that you're hearing less than you actually perceive. Nebula is hypnotic and dense but focused and sophisticatedly groovy. Like the repetitive vocals you'll hear throughout the B-side, this V.A. sticks to your mind like an addiction of some sort and pushes HDNSM to a new standard of avant-garde and forward-thinking attitude.

As before, this vinyl only release comes in a gorgeous cover featuring a painting from Max Binski and the number of copies available is limited.

Deep Consciousness incl. Ness Unconscious Rework
Phorma launches with powerful deep techno by Norm Talley on the A side and a dark trippy pulsating and irresistibly groovy interpretation by Ness on the B side. In general, Phorma will be dedicated to dark drone pulsating techno soundscapes and deep dubby mesmerizing loops exclusively released on the beautiful medium vinyl. the record design by highly-acclaimed Maison Blessing from Hamburg is based on art engravings depicting dusky scenes from nature. the
mystical and gloomy atmospheres are thus conveyed both acoustically as well as visually. Phorma searches for a seemingly-perpetual immersion into abyssal sonic metahpysica. Or, to close with Friedrich Nietzsche: "Art is not merely an imitation of the reality of nature, but in truth a metaphysical supplement to the reality of nature, placed alongside thereof for its conquest."

Following the launch of Prospector, a unique live-label concept, Pit Spector is back with release 02, this time partnering up with the charismatic Dutchman San Proper.

Coining a new concept that pulls together production and performance, 2014 saw Pit Spector throw a series of Prospector parties, each time inviting a guest artist to his studio to work on an exclusive live show for the club, as well as new music for the label. Back in January 2015 Pit and San Proper got together for a string of night-time jam sessions, and now they release the fruits of their labour.

An EP that demonstrates the duo's diversity and freedom in the studio, the mood shifts significantly across the four tracks. 'Pitbull Propercat' instantly grabs your attention, a raw and dancey number full of bounce and animalistic growls - a fitting vocal for San who's previously been dubbed 'The Animal' following a vivacious feline-impersonating DJ performance. Moving unexpectedly but pleasingly down-tempo, 'Sleepwalk Your Sexdreams' takes you on a journey into the night, transcending reality and into the wanderings of the mind... tranquil, mesmerizing, lustful. Flip over for a hard hit of House, or Street House if you will, 'Time 2 Rumble' motivates the body with an undeniable Hip Hop influence. Rounding off with a leap outside the box and a positively psychedelic Pop sound, 'Vaporize' oozes Rock N Rock glamour with deep guitar strums and a fabulously sexy vocal once again from San. Truly testament of the pair's synergy in the studio and confidence to experiment in their productions.

Once again the vinyl includes the corresponding Prospector party poster - original artwork by street art legend O'clock of the New York 156 graffiti crew, who, inspired by the energy of 80s block parties, offers a raw and colourful manifestation of the music.

Unanim Records turns out to be the perfect match for Ion Ludwig's sound that refuses to confine itself under a specific genre.

2 tracks, each of them receiving a whole side of the record, as plenty of time and space to develop slowly. Mania GR, a wobbly theme looped obsessively around the crisp kick, takes time to change its texture from dreamscaping to trippy spirals. Same story, different characters on Side B: Wishkey in an IceJar introduces an overwhelming bassline, leaving space only for the storyteller to breathe into the track's energy.

Designed for the very special dancefloor moments, Unanim's third release manages to capture Ion Ludwig's sound signature in its entire complexity.

The 3rd Mode of Expression release includes fresh cut's from Kashawar & Paul Walter. Two original tracks and a collab work together, a selection of perfekt tunes for the late summer Moments. As usuall selfprinted cover and 180gr vinyl.

Detroit rooted techno and ambient 3 tracker from DLS, a new project from one that always stayed anonymous in his productions over 20 years.

Another day, another project here at Hizou. This time the first in our Special series of strictly-limited vinyl releases focusing on another side to the electronic music we love, yes, a little different to the classic Chicago and Detroit-inspired sounds of our main label, but with just the same passion, pride and panache. Friend of the label W&P Hgg (aka Hugo Giner) returns with Techno Is Back, a cut darker and more twisted than the timeless and jazz-influenced house he is usually associated with, while the enigmatic Ithkuil debuts with Speak My Language, a slice of truly dope deepness. The much-touted duo Gauss enhance their rapidly-growing reputation with Diversey River Bowl, another uncompromising delivery of machine funk, whilst the vastly-experienced pairing of Jaime Read and Owen Jay join forces on Aalto, a groovy, acid-inspired little number.

More disco house gold: Shir Khan presents 4 new fine cuts on Black Jukebox 17 featuring Martin Lewis & Aussteiger.

After the release of Positive Centre's "Vorticist EP" , the Japanese pair Katsunori Sawa and Yuji Kondo will make their debut on SNTS' Label under their aka Steven Porter, with a four-track 12 vinyl only entitled Superbad.

The return of the highly influential and classic tracks by Thomas P. Heckmann's infamous
Drax project, that brought you such huge anthems like Amphetamine, Phosphene, Section 2 and Parnophelia,

The two predecessors to Amphetamine were Section 2 on the first ever Techno 7inch in 1993, followed some time

This finally led to one of the most influential and famous Techno tracks named Amphetamine, which is presented here
in a completely different and unreleased version (for the original please check AFUltd.31).
The more mellow and beautiful vibe of Parnophelia rounds up a true collectors Vinyl package !
