A Love Fever regular, Laurence Blake AKA Citizen is the dreaded up South London cool kid with a fresh sound full of modernity and attitude. His productions punch so hard, A&A stole him from their dancefloor after a personal demo delivery impelled the boys to get the music on record for the world to hear. Quietly rocking London dancefloors with his heavily defined, underground sound for the past few years, parallels have since been drawn with major British breakthroughs Julio Bashmore and Wbeeza. With the debut 'Deep End EP' on Kerri Chandler's MadTech causing a stir Citizen looks set to become a prolific talent as he enters the Love Fever Records hall of infamy.
A side 'Room Service' gives you that call girl temptation, getting straight to the point with smoky bass and teasing intonations leading up to the flipped out vocal, stabbing synths and body rocking drop. 'You Give me that something is the warmer, body melting B side, soulful vocals in pools of distorted chords and immersed in Citizen's signature sound bed of rich bass filtered through a tight house groove. Add to that Jimmy Edgars twisted take on the Love Fever parties sound that slows down in tempo but with an added electronic sensuality for a 'Deeper Touch' and you have something rather beautiful.

dj and music lover hailing from Grodno in Belarus. Schmoltz has had a long-term affair with music
which got him to collecting records and fiddling with music making software and hardware.
Growing up as a metalhead kid, he came the disco route and later to be mesmerized by the
soulful powerful funky and electric sounds of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Stars on 45 and
whatever else was to be found in the piles of soviet Melodiya records. Schmoltz delivered three
great jazzy, deep & soulful tracks for his debut 12inch on czech based Visky Recordings.
On top of that the B side offers a remix from Ferrispark label head Scott Ferguson. Scott gave
to Raindrops a totally different feel and energy in a way of his own.

Ralph Lawson and Carl Finlow co-founded the 2020Vision label in 1994 and were responsible for producing most of the early output of the label. As the label grew so did demand for the duo as a production team. They started 2020Vision remix and embarked on creating a significant body of work. Their best loved mixes became a series of remixes for classic New York act Blaze which included 'Funky People', 'Wishing you Were Here' and of course 'Lovelee Dae'. 'Lovelee Dae' stands out as a unique production and is still played regularly today by Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano. It is listed as one of the all time top 100 classic house records ever. The 2020 studio was home for Chez Damier, Ron Trent, Stacey Pullen, Alton Miller and many more when they visited the UK. Lawson & Finlow co-created the much-loved 'Chuggles' series of records with Chez Damier for Prescription Underground at the studio in Leeds. They went on to produce music for Arthur Baker, Telex, Felix da Housecat, Shawn Christopher, Josh Wink, Jori Hulkonnen, Soldiers Of Twilight and Swag among many others.

In 2002 the partnership faded as Carl Finlow moved to Paris. Over in France Carl pursued his solo project Random Factor while Lawson threw himself into his live band 2020Soundsystem. Exactly 10 years later they have decided to make music again together. Ralph Lawson describes it this way -

"It was basically down to being in the right time and place again. We never made music or took remixes unless we were really feeling them. When the artist Freak Seven came along I instantly thought of Carl as they come from similar roots - purist Detroit electro and techno soul. When I heard 'We Bring The Music" I asked the artist Nav for the parts and immediately got a drum track together on my machines and worked out the vocal arrangement. I sent the finished dub to Carl and just told him to do his thing. He sent me back his live keyboard takes in a day. As soon as I heard them I was overcome. I got goose pimples and a tear came to my eye. It was if 10 years had been 10 minutes. We were instantly transported back to the original 2020Vision studio together but we hadn't even been in the same room."

Their first release for 10 years is extremely special to both the duo and the label. We are going back to our roots but with music designed for right here and right now. We have decided to make this release vinyl only, not as a fashion statement, but because that is how a 2020Vision record originally started its life. We decided to start again from the beginning and see where it leads. The remix can be compared to their classic work while aiming firmly at a modern dancefloor. Anif Akinola's vocals are layered and cut up around Lawson's tight drum workout while Finlow adds ever-moving synth soundscapes, gritty analogue undercurrents and moments of beauty. We have made 10 test pressings for DJs we love and respect. You are one of them.
