is the polymorphous project lead by the Texan-born Craig Close. With more than a decade of activity between the USA and the UK, it has spawned one of the most fascinating and promiscuous saga of the latest years.Within its huge discography, definitely noteworthy is the 2014 "Powder Horn" released on Diagonal Records, which was considered by many to be one of the best electronic albums of that year.Lately Shit&Shine has released the great "Everybody's a Fucking Expert" LP on Editions Mego in 2015 and "Total Shit!", again on Powell's Diagonal on March 2017.
Shit&Shine and Gang of Ducks share an arguable good taste for naming and, most of all, a wide-range approach to the sonic palette, always exploring different sounds.Hamburger Ep brings the work Craig has developed so far to the next level, keeping his unique mix of sluggish EBM beat, drugged funk and futuristic proto-techno.RIYL G.O.D's previous releases like Traag, Sudden Infant, Datashock...

After piling up the hype this month through socials and support from BBC Radio 1, Drum&BassArena have finally put out their 'The Breaks EP'. Renowned and respected for releasing some of the genre's highest-selling compilation albums of all time, today's release by the leading scene champion's marks the first EP in over 10 years. Featuring influential artists like Shimon, Bladerunner, John B, A.M.C & Turno, June Miller & James Marvel - 'The Breaks' is a 21-gun finger salute to one of the most important founding elements of drum & bass: the breakbeat.
An EP that features razor sharp sonic craftsmanship from every generation of drum & bass talent possible, 'The Breaks' marks the start of a new release series for the brand who are set to reach their 21st anniversary later this year. Denting an already loaded release schedule of calendar-essential albums, worldwide events and festival arena-takeovers and its annual awards ceremony, 'The Breaks' is yet another way for Drum&BassArena to celebrate and contribute to the sound that inspired us all since day one. To celebrate our 21st anniversary I wanted to start a brand-new chapter in releases,' states Drum&BassArena founder The Risky. This EP series gives us the perfect platform to once again celebrate the genre we all love so much.'
Kick starting 'The Breaks EP' is John B with 'ENERGY': an electrifying homage to some of drum & bass's most skin-melting elements - an adrenalin arpeggio, toxic bass textures and a shapeshifting rhythm that you can feel physically from your head to your toes. Followed by Shimon - a man who has given the world countless roll-outs, anthems and bangers over the years as a solo artist, Andy C collaborator, Ram Trilogy member and head of Audioporn Records - teams up with Darrison to seal the deal with 'Believe It'. Gilded with Darrison's singular vocal styles and status as one of the scene's most versatile and musically talented MCs, 'Believe It' is a diesel-powered roller that balances a perfect contrast of light and dark. 'Ice Cold' by A.M.C & Turno builds on the momentum of their uncompromising 'Collision' EP last year. Here we find two exciting producers colliding once more with a savage break, an iconic detuned rave hook and a tempo-flexing breakdown that can melt a crowd at 20 paces. 'Don Dada' sees June Miller & James Marvel taking us on a one-way trip to breakbeat future with a dancehall-inspired dynamic that gradually builds more momentum as the track progresses. Closing the show in true jungle style we find Bladerunner. 'International' backs up his spotless status to last rattling hi-hat and smouldering one note b-line. Laced with shimmering guitars and a subtle MC call, it's already sound tracking many junglist summers.
While much of the scene in recent years has been characterised by chiselled sinewy two-steps, recently drum & bass has enjoyed a breakbeat revival with artists from all subgenres returning to the source for inspiration and development. As a brand that celebrates the breaks every single day with its URL homage breakbeat, Drum&BassArena knew it was high time to return to the EP game and contribute to the breakbeat culture that's motivated it for all these years. Five incendiary tracks, one heavyweight EP, over 10 years' worth the wait: 'The Breaks EP' is a special dedication to everything we love about drum & bass past, present and future

Hyperdub + Warp Records artists Babyfather and GAIKA rework two 18+ tracks from their second album 'Collect'.
Hyperdub's Dean Blunt, a category-rejecting artist and an art-pop provocateur tackles 'Drama' under his Babyfather guise, looping a low slung swagger beat under the vocals of DJ Escrow and Samia Mirza.
Warp Records multi-disciplined South London artist GAIKA rips apart Glow into a discordant sub-low bassline drone, pitching Samia's vocal as slow as can go, harsh high pitch tones and field recordings.
One of the strongest things we've heard from the divisive producer.' - boomkat

With open arms we welcome Allied to the roster for our 6th Concussion Release.
Allied is the alter ego of Brighton based Ali Seewoonarain who over the last decade has had a consistent output of great material on a myriad of labels. Such as, Sinuous Records, Rise Audio and the BNKR series by Methlab, among many others.
A) Allied - Nth Degree
Allied kicks off the release with the A-side Nth Degree'. As we roll into the spacious intro of the track, one seamlessly floats around space with a funky drummer playing the soundtrack to the journey at hand. The drums fade away and make room for stabs that rhythmically lead into the main section. Ready, set, Warp speed engaged.
Retaining the intro funk it brings you into a stomper of grand proportions that just keeps on rolling.
The fast paced sounds break down into a moment of bliss, but the journey is far from over. The drop kicks in with arpeggiating soundscapes echoing off into another dimension sculpting a world before your very eyes.
B) Allied & Lockjaw - Flow State
Next up Allied teams up with Australian based Lockjaw. With this track we're roaming around the jungles of space. The sounds of birds, nature and more are laced within the deep grooves of bell hits that fill the forest sounding landscape of the introduction.
Crunchy-distorted bass hits shift the vibe to a strong, deep stepping track which will surely be a treat for any soundsystem lover.
Trading out the distorted bass grooves for shuffle hits give the track a well thought out diversity within the switch as it blends the deeper bass grooves with more melodic elements.
The breakdown is nothing short of sweet as it gives you a clear moment to collect your thoughts. It encompasses the vibe of the intro with a grand buildup that perfectly prepares you for the second, soul twisting drop.

This is the third AKO Beatz release; DJ Stretch has collected four of the highest pedigree, contemporary jungle and drum & bass producers to rework his heavyweight 1996 jump-up classic 'Hungry Tiger'.
London based Serum sets the ball rolling by overlaying the trademark kung-fu flick dialogue with stepping breaks, ominous horn sounds and fierce bass growls. Next up the Dublin junglist, Ricky Force provides a bass heavy, roller with lashings of chop-socky, fighting effects.
Foundation X label founder, Skitty drops his thundering amen led refix with elastic bass twinges and additional Reese throbs, while Tim Reaper closes things off with an tearingly intense amen-break workout with some serious choppage and spacey FX going on.
Altogether the 'Hungry Tiger Remixes' provides four essential drum & bass updates of a seminal piece of jungle history for 2015. Don't sleep on this one!

Inner Surface Music are very proud to present the first album on the label from Grey Branches (Yves De Mey). Neuroclaps LP is a journey into the immersive world of Grey Branches, bringing together sounds and influences from techno, jungle, dub, experimental and ambient music.
´Arches´ opens with bass oscillations that swell and build into slow rhythmic patterns with machine grooves, teasing us for what lies ahead. ´Acrylic Hunger´ has stepping drums playing around swung baselines and modular synthesis layering into a pulsating dance floor pressure. ´Bevel´ builds around cavernous textures, laser like drums and analogue riffs. Killer sound design bringing elements of dub and techno together in its own form. ´Rushed Corrosion´ is built for dirty basement clubs, raw synth oscillations weave together creating a wave of tension with the driving power of techno with jungle ideology. ´Automatic Gallows´ slows down the tempo and enters the experimental realms, a slow undulating drum palette meets cosmic spaced out pads before collapsing into a black hole. ´Split Limb´ hits the floor hard with a wall of cold distorted bass, experimental kick drums and rugged rhythms. Syncopated experimental music by nature that remains direct and powerful for the dance floor. ´Rammed´ playful melodic sequences and atmospheric landscapes melt in harmony around broken kick drums and stripped percussion, pulling the listener closer to mesmerise you further. ´Unpaced´ is a short but intense piece of techno experimentation, sharp and delicate rhythms unfold around ethereal layers of noise and textures. ´Neuroclaps´ the title track is a perfect example of the Grey Branches sound. Hard in dynamics, while remaining funky and driving for the dance floor. The sound of early electronica with a unique feel of its own. ´Synthesis Swindle´ closes with deep otherworldly layers of bass, choral pads and sonic artefacts submerging the listener into a state of enchantment.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are no longer floating in space.. we are lost in it. Pete Bain aka Pete Bassman, pioneer and the true bassist from Spacemen 3, The Darkside (Beggars Banquet) and Alpha Stone (BOMP!) revisits Hoga Nord. Last time we heard from the legendary Rugby resident he came with ten minutes of pure acid-folk straight outta Drugby. (On now sold out HNR005 7" Small Town Illusion/Poison Butterfly). Now he's back with hist first solo album, Lost in Space. Opening track Music For Modern Living sets the tone: psychedelic, electronic and atmospheric. Tracks Sweet and Echo Lane will make you braindance - off piste style! Haunting, dark and beautiful track Scars sounds like stalking aliens lurking from a distance. Searching for ideal human guinea pigs. Ambient music to get abducted and spaced out to!

SCAR return to the label for the first time since the release of their debut album, 'The Orkyd Project', with a 4 track EP entitled 'The Wrong Side' which without doubt highlights some of the duos best work yet.Naomi Pryor, whose voice featured strongly across the album, takes the lead on the title track with some haunting but playful vocals, whilst SCAR have also invited the legendary 2 Bad Mice to put their own unique stamp on 'The Wrong Side'.
'Make Em Know' shows further versatility in SCAR's work and is guaranteed to be favourite on the dancefloor in the years to come. Rounding off the EP is 'Beside Me' with another vocalist you may remember from 'The Orkyd Project' - Eleanor Higgins. Alongside her wonderful voice is Ben Hadwen on saxophone and flute duties, bubbling over to create one of the jazziest pieces of drum and bass you're likely to hear in a while.o

The ambient sister of Rough House Rosie, Pandora returns with its third release featuring Russian producer Dices. Music on this 12" was recorded in winter of 2013 for a photo exhibition 'Northern Light' in St. Petersburg and as in previous work "White Nite" (as a part of Untitled Gear project) Dices continues his research of the city's influence on state of mind. With this 4-part EP we fall into not so sunny, but non less deep emotion and discover St. Petersburg in black-and-white color. Abstract guitar riffs by Nick Ossia, field-recordings and ethereal sounds are producing the light feeling of psychodelia and invite us into a virtual journey through the winter city, full of mysteries and contradictions.

Ecstatic reprise the line-up of Not Waving and Pye Corner Audio's Intercepts (2014) collaboration, along with the crucial addition of Silent Servant, for a faultless dancefloor session prizing one peach per artist on a lurid neon yellow plate. DJs and dancers can trust they are in very safe hands with exclusive, deadly material supplied by all three operators, which also doubles up as a showcase for their incoming joint US tour dates.
Catching each producer at the apex of their respective games, they demonstrate the difference between original forms and their idiosyncratic, modern antecedents in alternately optimised and
augmented distillations of EBM, acid, and techno, using finely honed instincts to parse the best bits from each style and leave the rest to rot.
Not Waving sets the example with a twanging and typically irregular disarrangement of EBM robo-funk, railing a lean and potent stripe of clambering machine pulses and barely-harnessed
arpeggios with fragments of anti-racism activist Jane Elliot that lend it a recontextualised, determined impetus.
Martin Jenkins aka The Head Technician aka Pye Corner Audio follows with a slowly tempered, supple piece of analogue magick, coaxing out a sublime twine of helical basslines and a soaring
top line of the rarest kind, one completely destined to trigger stunned and loved-up reactions in the right situations.
And the best is yet to come with Silent Servant's impeccable B-side, tallying his first release of original material in 2017 with a sleek signature turn of fine-tuned 5/4 techno powered by nagging EBM bass and spaced out within a morphing sound sphere, with intercepted narrator who becomes fully revealed into the dramatic climax.

The latest 12 on Maciek Sienkiewicz's FASRAT label comes from one of the most prolific and innovative Polish beatmakers. Teielte already boasts an impressive body of work, including two albums and several EPs for respected Polish U Know Me label, as well as numerous collaborations from hip hop MCs to jazz musicians. Magnetic Soul/Magnetic Tree" finds Warsaw-based producer at his most adventurous, seamlessly blending bass music, breaks, hip hop or footwork with club-friendly rhythms and space-out electronica. Kaleidoscopic cut-ups are heavy on samples and sounds - Teielte manages to blend few albums worth of ideas in just under 25 minutes. Stunning cover image comes courtesy of Canadian techno veteran Tomas Jirku (who's new 12 will be out on FASRAT later this year).

Khidja are back on Malka Tuti and this combo cannot and will not dissappoint. After their successful debut on John Talabot's Hivern-Discs, Khidja continue their current direction of leftfield-club music exploration, this time in the form of Microb, a track that is a wolrd of its own, fusioning heavy industrial vibes with their own take of "worldly music" to create this peak time dancefloor bonanza. On the flip side Salon Des Amateurs Tolouse Low Trax delievers two takes on the original track, stripped down and turned upside down, adding those Massive vocals. These takes are hypnotic as they are groovey and they complete a unique package for the modern dance floor explorers... Zuruck zu Sprecher eins

The last few years have been a rollercoaster ride for brothers Brooke Blair and Will Blair. In 2013 they scored Jeremy Saulnier's brutal revenge thriller Blue Ruin. Saulnier had been a longtime friend, and Blue Ruin also starred their brother Macon, as the slightly incompetent Dwight, looking to enact his revenge.
2015 saw the composers, actor and director reunited for the excellent and perhaps even more brutal Green Room.
This year, they've scored two new films for Netflix. Macon Blair's hilariously bloody I Don't Feel at Home In This World Anymore, and Small Crimes which has just premiered this past month.
Before these two latest projects, they worked on to score Logan Sandler's 2016 dramatic thriller Live Cargo. A dark monochrome thriller weaving together a plot of struggling relationships, child loss and the dark world of human trafficking. The Blairs worked closely with director Logan Sandler to capture the tone and texture of a particularly depraved way of life in the Bahamas. Violin bows were were used to resonate old piano strings, metal fans and acoustic guitars. Church organs and a small chamber choir provided a hymn-like chordal foundation. Distant lap steel guitars and accordions suggest somber melodies and slightly detuned vintage synths including an ARP 2500 and a mellotron create a sense of disorientation and uneasiness.
This vinyl edition is a co-release between Blackest Rainbow and Wayfind Records, the Blair's new label.
Pressed at 45 rpm on 180 gram seafoam coloured vinyl, packaged in UV gloss finished sleeves with black polylined inner sleeves.

Caddywhompus are lions of a noisy, emotive new school of math rock which has thrived in recent years, especially in the South. At this point, you're just as likely to nd their records in the racks of a DIY space as you are on the walls of record shops around the world. With close ties to Community Records, they are rightful bene ciaries of a nationwide grassroots underground support built on their consistently excellent output, tireless touring and necessary live show.
These 3 live tracks, being their rst ofcial live release, encapsulates what is so magnetic about the duo - nimble yet mushrooming euphoria in each composition. The A-side single, Decent, is a chugging, arpeggiated and absolutely contagious live sing-along that can also be heard on their 2017 LP Odd Hours on highly respected NYC indie In ated Records.

'Music is liquid architecture; Architecture is frozen music.' Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The relation of sound and architecture has been a recurring theme across the centuries. The earliest examples of sound design stem from the interaction of human voice and various architectural spaces used for worship and ritual. It is these sonic reflections on ritual that are at the root of the latest edition from Japanese ambient maestro Chihei Hatakeyama.
Recorded over the period of five years, Mirage is a meditation on the phenomenology of music and architecture. During a field trip to Turkey, Hatakeyama became acutely aware of how architecture shapes sound and through doing so effects the very nature of music's resonance. This condition extends beyond the personal into the collective, creating a certain condition of aurality that operates at a societal level.
Walking through the labyrinthian bazaars of Turkey, Hatakeyama took inspiration from the way sounds emerged and decayed within those spaces. Looking to replicate these experiences in the creation of the album, he developed a series of new processes and transformations that expanded his approach to textural music. Weaving in location recordings from these spaces, the record began to take on a hazy abstruse quality; the unfamiliar familiar.
As the name suggests, Mirage is about the apparent phenomena that exists only in our perception. Like a strong memory, which can feel so very present yet remain intangible, Hatakeyama's music on Mirage maintains a lucid but utterly transcendent quality.
ABOUT
Chihei Hatakeyama is a sound artist , an organizer and mastering engineer born in 1978. He lives in the Tokyo. Originally a guitarist, his start in music came during his teen years playing in Tokyo metal bands.
Gradually his focus shifted to more adventurous sounds and it was during this time he began to work more exclusively in a solo format. Hatakoeyama produces polychromatic, memory-evoking sound-scapes with various recorded materials sourced from acoustic instruments such as guitars, vibraphone, and piano. His work is a meeting of the gestural language he has developed for his instruments and expansive processing via a variety of acoustic and digital sources.

Venerable virtuoso guitarist Mike Cooper evokes rich imagery and narrative through simple means - lap steel guitar, FX and imagination - on a particularly personal, compelling solo journey for Room 40; an elegy to formative influences, acknowledging departed friends in beautifully affective style.
If you've ever heard a Mike Cooper album you'll already no doubt be familiar with his peculiar kind of alchemy, taking traditional Pacific music and re-factoring it with electronic treatments influenced by his love of radio art and sound installations.
Now 75 years old - his music sounds utterly contemporary, situated somewhere between Takoma,
Exotica, 4th World and Ambient musics; always with a minimal, evocative signature that honestly sounds quite unlike anything or anyone you'll have heard before.
His inspiration for this album, recounted below, provides heartbreaking context for the sounds you'll hear on 'Raft', but suffice to say that this album has once again convinced us that Cooper is one of the most inspirational and consistently brilliant artists working on the scene today, long may his reign continue.

Phuture-T dials up Dub and Drumfunk from the samples of Greenleaf's New Orleans influenced track, Forward Motion. The beats are more broken and the effect delays are longer. The signature interview recording has been chopped and used as downbeats on the progression changes.
With melodic and rolling percussion, Earl Grey creates a cheerful vibe to start the Ominous Maze remix. The intro leads straight into the body of the track when the contrabass becomes the dominant instrument making the tone tougher. The drum breaks transition through several change ups and syncopated edits.
Metro gives MHC a new treatment with extra field recordings and an extended break down. The Jungle influence is stronger with bigger, funkier subs. Classic break beats are layered with sound effects and noises all supporting the main rhythm of the bassline.

Neue 6-Track-EP des supertalentierten Jungproduzenten Suicideyear aka James Prudhomme aus Baton Rouge, Louisiana, der nach seiner Split-Single mit Kaytranada auf Bromance (2013), seiner "Remembrance EP" auf Oneohtrix Point Nevers Label Software (2014) und einem Remix für Jacques Greene nun der Lucky Me-Familie beitritt.
Emotional Rescue presents the final part of their Suns Of Arqa trilogy with two of their deepest world dubs in Acid Tabla and Asian Rebel. Capturing their fusion of folk, reggae and dance to perfection, these heavy vibrations are backed with pulsating remixes from Adrian Sherwood and The Hyphen Collective.
Following the success of the Brujo Magic (ERC002) and Muslimgauze Re-mixs (ERC013) in highlighting and reappraising the music of SoA, it is fitting to return to the band some 3 years later with a special EP putting two of their best tracks alongside subsequent remixes.First appearing on their debut album, Revenge Of The Mozabites, Acid Rebel has appeared in many forms - celtic folk influenced original, dub and remixes. Here though is a special extended version, bringing all the best elements in to an ultimate version. Fiddle, harmonium, bass and piano all come together via the mixing controls of leader Wadada and the legendary Adrian Sherwood. Fitting then that the On U Sound founder would create a later master class of a remix of his own. Pushing the drums, bass and piano up in the mix to accentuate each parts role, before a breakdown putting the celtic influences through the echo chamber. This is the fundamentals of dub at it's finest by a master of his trade.Joining is possibly one of the band's most twisted dance cuts. Having only appeared on the little known 1981 On U Sound compilation 'Wild Paarty Sounds Volume One', Asian Rebel has long been a secret play for the more discerning DJ. Picked by Trevor Jackson for his excellent recent Science Fiction Dancehall Classics release, here is finally presented on 12' for the first time.
With Wadada and Sherwood at the controls, this is an undeniable classic. Twisted to the extreme, bongo's interplay, bass maxed deep in the mix to distortion, with otherwordly flute all riding skipping off kilter hats to mess with minds and feet. This is concluded with a unique dub retake by Wadada and friends via a new project - The Hyphen Collective. Taking the original further in to the dub chamber this is a smoker's delight and worthy end to our collaboration.

After kicking things off with Sean Thomas' (Cop Envy) The Weigh, Sydney's Outer Time Inner Space return with a collaborative EP from Jon Watts, the kind-hearted, go-to sound engineer of the Sydney club and experimental music scene and OTIS label owner, Hugh Burridge (AKA Hubert Clarke Jr). As resident DJs for OTIS' Sweet Echoes parties and guests for some of Sydney's more open-minded club promoters, Jon & Hugh have developed their own style of warm up set, largely unrestrained by genre. Another View is just an extension of this open approach to club music. There's an obvious ode to Bukem's Good Looking Records, a lopsided MPC jam that could have been written by a drunk Ron Trent, a club roller with UK broken beat at it's heart and a spaced out, dream-scape dub from Melbourne mate, Rings Around Saturn (Dan White) to round out the EP. In 2017, the musical term electronic' is nearly obsolete given the ubiquity of computerized processes in producing music. Even so, the prevailing assumption is that musicians working under this broad umbrella must be inspired by concepts equally as electrified as their equipment. Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has demonstrated in her still-blooming discography that this notion couldn't be further from the truth, and that more often than not, rich worlds of synthesized
sound are born from deep reverence of the natural world. Smith (who by no coincidence, cites naturalist David Attenborough as a contemporary muse) has embodied such an appreciation on
The Kid in as direct and sincere a way as possible by sonically charting the phases of life itself.
The album, which punctually follows up her 2016 breakthrough EARS, chronicles four defining cognitive and emotional stages of the human lifespan across four sides of a double LP.
The first side takes us through the confused astonishment of a newborn, unaware of itself, existing in an unwitting nirvana. Smith's music has always woven a youthful thread befitting of the
aforementioned subject. Here she articulates it in signature fashion on the track An Intention,' which serves not only as a soaring spire on The Kid, but on her entire output. There is playfulness here, but it's elevated by an undertone of gravity into something compelling and majestic that is fast becoming Smith's watermark. The emotional focus of side two is the vital but underreported moment in early youth when we cross the threshold into self awareness. The subject is profound enough to fill an entire album, but rarely makes its way into a single track, indicating Smith's ambition to broach subtler and deeper subjects than the average composer. This side offers up another highlight in the form of In The World But Not Of The World' which serves its subject well with epiphanic, climbing strings and decidedly noisy textures over a near-Bollywood low end pulse.
Side three emphasizes a feeling of being confirmed enough in one's own identity to begin giving back to the formative forces of one's upbringing, which is arguably the duty that all great artists
aim to fulfill. This side ends with the exploratory album cut Who I Am & Why I Am Where I Am' recorded in a single take without overdubs on the rare EMS Synthi 100 synthesizer. This humble
piece of sound design serves as a contrast to side four's verdant orchestral moments, all written and arranged for the EU-based Stargaze quartet by Smith herself. This final side represents a
return to pure being, the kind of wisdom and peace that eludes most of us until the autumn of life. On To Feel Your Best' this concept is voiced in the bittersweet refrain one day I'll wake up
and you won't be there' which Smith intended to be a grateful acknowledgement of life rather than a melancholy resentment of loss. The song has both effects depending on the mood of the
listener, and both interpretations are equally moving.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith belongs to an ilk of modern musicians who are defined by their commitment to creating experiential albums despite the singles-oriented habits of modern listeners,
and here she represents her kind proudly. The subjects on The Kid are not simple to convey, and yet through both emotional tone and lyrical content, Smith does just that. There is a similar
gravity to both birth and death, and rarely is that correlation as accurately and enthusiastically mapped as it is here.
Alan Watts, another logical inspiration of Smith's, once expounded that people record themselves to confirm their own existence, and as such, echoes and resonance are reminders that we are alive. You're not there unless you're recorded,' Watts muses, if you shout, and it doesn't come back and echo, it didn't happen.' The Kid speaks to this idea directly. As Kaitlyn Aurelia
Smith explores her existence through music, she guides us in gleefully contemplating our own.

POLIÇA & s t a r g a z e veröffentlichen "Bruise Blood: Reimagining Steve Reich's Music for Pieces of Wood" als limitierte Vinyl-12" & Download. Rashad Becker's new full length album, 'Traditional Music of Notional Species Vol. II', due for release next month on PAN is a newly developed continuation and exploration of work since his highly-acclaimed first volume.
Incorporating more instrumental-sounding components, the record moves through both fluid and dissonant sounds which take on different structural and sculptural challenges through carefully-layered compositions. Following 'Traditional Music of Notional Species Vol. I', the new album expands in various elements, distorted and warped, focusing in on the tension and energy synthesised sounds that appear to exist hauntingly physical.
Known for his unrivalled attention to sonic detail across his work, Becker's unique techniques and expressive manipulations of sound are laid bare in an exhilarating new form, stylistically distinctive and uncompromising.
The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring artwork by Bill Kouligas.

Secret operations is proud to present another releases from Seba. Stasis is track that started as an experiment with Native Instruments Maschine. Different drumpatterns triggered in sequence is a big part of the arrangement, and the track evolves in to a soundscape that Seba is so well known for. Inner world was sitting unfinished on Sebas laptop for years, untill he decided that now is the time to finish it. It brings memories back to the days of early Metalheadz and to the early days of Seba&Paradox.

We tried to shape 'Avé' so that it comes at you dark, then it gets bright and heavy and just keeps growing into some kind of monster.' - Tony 'Demolition Man' Dolan
The name Venom is both loved and loathed in the metal world but regardless of your take on the band they are known first and foremost as the pioneers of extreme metal as we know it. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989 - 1992 line-
up of guitarist Jeff 'Mantas' Dunn, vocalist / bassist Tony 'Demolition Man' Dolan and drummer Anthony 'Abaddon' Bray have returned with a monster of an album, 'Avé'. It's a reunion that was unexpected at the outset - even by the band members
themselves - but the end result after getting their collective legs back is an album that true Venom fans will gladly add to the top of their playlists.
Venom Inc. were born on April 24th, 2015 at the annual Keep It True Festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany. Mantas and Dolan were focused on M:Pire Of Evil, having invested years' worth of blood, sweat and tears in recording and touring to keep the band alive. An offer to play Keep It True was accompanied by a request to have Abaddon - who would be in attendance - to join the band during the set to perform some Venom classics as a treat for the fans. Mantas and Abaddon hadn't spoken in almost two decades, leaving Dolan to try and make the epic reunion a
reality.
The on-stage reunion was a rousing success amongst Venom fans and music industry personnel alike. Many industry people thought it was smart the way M:Pire Of Evil presumably changed their name to Venom Inc. because their performance had been brilliant when in fact it was only done for fun. Dolan received numerous show offers for Venom Inc. from booking agents from Asia, Europe and South America who had seen the live footage online. What started as a reunion to celebrate Venom's history
turned into serious discussion about touring with the old songs to see if Venom Inc. had legs,' according to Dolan.
Going in to writing 'Avé', their Nuclear Blast debut, Venom Inc. realized their live performance was the key to creating an album that would be a metal classic. It was clear that any songs the trio came up with had to have the intensity, the honesty and
the aggression that was happening for Venom Inc. in a live situation. Simply put, they needed to translate what they do on stage onto a record. Not once did they look back on the Venom catalogue and think We have to write another 'Black Metal' or
another 'Schizo'...' The focus is on Venom Inc. and everything the rejuvenated three-piece do in the here and now.
Full UK tour November 2017.

Austin-based musician Eliot Lipp delivers Skywave', an album Lipp has been working on for the past several months. With influences from sci-fi soundtracks and 70s and 80s funk, he channels a collection of weird, high-definition, melodic beats. In these nine songs Lipp feels he might have everything I want to say in one moment.' Recreating key musical moments in a current and relatable way was the goal in producing Skywave and giving himself permission to take some risks as well.
With a versatile approach, Lipp has created opportunities to connect with some of the artists he first looked up to, playing in cities across America and abroad always returning to his hometown in the Pacific Northwest.
Collaboration plays a role in all his albums. He's been a fan of Emancipator for a years now and was beyond excited to get his Not Quite Awake' remix. He asked DMC champ Chris Karns to scratch on 'Joyride'. In addition to doing cuts, Chris ended up playing live drums and layering unique vocal samples. 'Reflection' came from a jam session with Gibbz and Cherub in their Nashville studio.
One of Lipp's biggest musical influences last year came from a group of producers from Seattle that call themselves Fish Tank Friends. Most of them had a hand in the early stages of 'Spiders'.
With monthly trips planned from Texas back to Washington, he anticipates more evenings surrounded by friends, fans, and new listeners where he brings everyone together through the touch of a button.

One of the UK's freshest new drum & bass talents drops his debut solo single on Critical, this one is simple mammoth! Emperor has
been making waves over the past couple of years moonlighting with various camps but it was the keen ear of label boss Kasra that
cottoned on early drawing him deep into the Critical ranks. If this new single is anything to go by, one of the best decisions Critical
could have made.
The cinematic intro of 'Begin' is beautiful blend of strings, reversed fx and the sultry vocals of Georgia Yates who featured on the Enei
album last year. All build to a haunting dropout before the next stage, an absolute nasty tech-stepping future roll-out that's been
getting Fabric in sweat these last few months. Twisted, uplifting and wonderfully emotive, this is another slice of Critical magic.
Next up and we're treated to the vintage double-bass grooves of 'She Said'. Another huge epic intro featuring a soaring vocal drifting
over ethereal pads features here as hi-end percussion leads into the fattest bassline for a properly funked up dance floor workout.
Think Roni Size 'Brown Paper Bag' or Peshay's 'Miles From Home' for 2013...bad to the bone!

First time ever on vinyl, deluxe 2LP with custom die cut wide spine and interchangeable heavy weight inner sleeves featuring previously unpublished artwork and photographs from 1982..
Recorded in 1982 and eventually released in 2009 on CD via William Basinski's own 2062 label, 92982 has become one of Basinski's most celebrated works. Finally available on vinyl for the first time, the album has been remastered from the original master tapes, and packaged in an exquisite custom die-cut package with interchangeable heavyweight inner sleeves featuring previously unpublished artwork and photographs from 1982. "You can't help but wonder why this music, recorded so long ago, is only just surfacing. Was the world not ready for WIlliam Basinski in 1982, or was WIlliam Basinski simply not ready to hand himself over to an audience at that point Whatever the reasoning, we're certainly reaping the benefits of the influential ambient composer's stockpile, and 92982 proves to be a real highlight in his output of recent years. Despite the minimalist essence of Basinski's oeuvre there's a pronounced sense of variety, diversity and depth at work in these four tracks, with each taking on its own specific persona. Essential."

Paul Blackford returns to CPU this time donning a 7" downtempo tip. Light Years vinyl takes 2 of the highlights from the accompanying digital LP, all of which demonstrate his versatility in expressing his hip hop and funk influences from an electronic music perspective.
On first pass you might think you are listening to Nightmares on Wax, but without the heavy sampling as Blackford favours creating his sounds from scratch. Comparisons to Photek's Hidden Camera can be made in terms of atmosphere but keeping things within a slower trip hop framework.
Light Years is for chilling out, but there's a strong temptation to mix hip-hop vocals over the top due to the LP's solid instrumental foundations.

This will mark the first time all of these tracks will be available on vinyl - previously they could only be found on cassette or download. Further, the album will feature unreleased tracks from Cringe Machine as well as a TWINS remix of Love Letters' contribution Nag. An interview of Harsh Riddims' Ryan Parks by 2MR's Mike Simonetti (and vice versa) make up the liner notes and the labels will be throwing parties in NYC and Atlanta to celebrate the release. Harsh Riddims started a few years back. Our first release was a compilation tape featuring some of my best friends. Stefan Ringer (REKchampa), Drew Briggs (Divine Interface), and Matt Weiner (TWINS) live here in Atlanta. They are among the most talented and encouraging individuals I know. B L A C K I E is good friends with Negashi Armada (Bluntfang). Negashi suggested asking him for a track, and he turned in "It's hot livin n' tha south". That's one of my favourite tracks off of the first compilation. About a year ago, we released the second comp. This record is a mix of the two, featuring a few unreleased tracks. I met RAMZI while on tour in Montreal. Love Letters is my friend Maxime Robillard, who lives in New York City. ThinkThrice is a kid in Atlanta that ordered one of Stefan's tapes. We later met at a house party: I'm pretty psyched he's got a track on here! WGM is Gavin Mays out of Memphis. He also produces as Cities Aviv. Cringe Machine is my good friend Justin Bauman. He passed away not too long ago, so I feel really fortunate to be able to share one of his songs. He was a big influence on me, and was overall a really sweet and giving person. Much love towards his family! Lastly, Co/Coaches is one half of Coco and Clair, Taylor Nave. She's such a talented song writer, buck performer; she's one my favorites. Hope you dig!

Its summer, Real Ibiza is back and we are onto our tenth volume. It may have taken us 19 years to get this far but all things come to those who wait. As usual the musical scope is pure Balearic but the producers at work come from all points around the world.
We open our summer salvo of blissful melodies with a trio of big name musicians, Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green joins with chill-out lord Chris Coco for their version of the Albatross classic. Electronic wizards The Orb float on by with their beatless remix. Next we are off to Australia where Gary B smoothly sets the tempo with his haunting vocal and cavernous, laid back grooves.
Netherlands based Symbols Of Sound are next with their Balearic smooth jazz of "Look At The Stars". Aimes from West Coast US is next with plucky, smokebelch-like Grooving In Guatemala. Italian Balearic legend Danielle Baldelli pairs with DJ Rocca for their melodic seaside soundscape that is "Poouli". Next two Russian producers, First, Sad Radio On Cassini lifts us and carries us away with his sweet and deep synth layers before Cardmoth strips it back for a note by note melody on a solo acoustic guitar.
Norwegians Plastic Fantastic take things on a jazzy twist with the bongo, guitar and flute melodious ditty. Keeping the theme of the Spanish guitar JR Haim is next with an exclusive "Heimweh". UK based Kinara are next with their lazy afternoon-ed "Longest Day". Next Italians Audio Affair give us a slice of Balearic soul with their smooth vocal slider "Living The Life". Australian Mission Brown get moody with "Rusted" before 70's French Cameroonian artist Tchammy Patterson relights his musical career with the slow swing beat of "Africa Melodie".
We round off the trip with quietly optimistic and uplifting "Amethyst" from UK producer Audio Glider before some slow "Floating" from Johannes Huppetz and a stargazingly, fantastical closer from the Italian duo the Diaphanoids with "Too Many Stars Not Enough Light".

From the Italian DUB duo Babe Roots comes the group's third vinyl release since their debut 7' last year on the Sardinian ROHS imprint which sold out in record time. Like the A-side's artwork suggests (a photo of the Major League Baseball pitcher Doc Ellis famous for pitching a 'no-hitter' while on LSD), this record will take the listener on a trip. In classic Babe Roots fashion, each song was carefully crafted using traditional Jamaican dub techniques, blending 90's Chain Reaction / Basic Channel atmospheres and UK trip-hop elements. Spiritual Connection / Brown Walls aims to be their strongest release yet. US-based label Visceral Vibrations teams up with Big Horn Sound (a sound system out of Las Vegas, NV) to provide a record worthy of any dub-head's collection, presented on 12' vinyl and professionally mastered by Beau Thomas at TenEightSeven.

We first approached Hector after watching a live performance of his at the legendary 'Sounds of the Universe' Record store in Soho. He stunned us with his attention to detail in his productions, and we were keen to talk further.
What we weren't expecting was the full body of work that Hector sent over.
Previously released work was mixed in with new unfinished ideas, and as we progressed we realized that there was already a good albums worth of material
to work with.
It represents (in no particular order) my musical journey over the past 4 or so years, some of which may never have seen the light of day.
All of the music in this album has come about as organically as possible, from tapping a light bulb I was changing to finding a sweet sounding Kalimba at Raw Material in Brixton and recording it on my phone (shout out to Miles laughing in the background of 'Kalimba 2').
We whittled down the original folder to what we present to you today. 'Sunshine' is a well-rounded body of work that truly represents Hector's influences and passions.
From the frantic drum work of 'Eastern System' that we released back in December on 7" vinyl, to the ambient beauty of 'Sunshine', this album unfolds and morphs beautifully to capture the feeling of inner city dwelling. "The process also included finding out my next door neighbours Rob & Lu (Drahla) made amazing music & meeting Andrea (And Is Phi) at the Brainchild Festival Warm Up party in London last year.
In the same way groups like Portishead and Leftfield captured a moment in time, Hector's work, although influenced by them, is also drenched in tribal rhythms and beautifully crafted bass. Melodies weave and shift to make way for glorious synths or vocal lines. Clearly influenced by beat-makers like Flying Lotus and Theo Parrish, but with the subtleties of the classic Metalheadz era Drum and Bass, this album will definitely leave you wanting more.

Benjamin Wynn a.k.a. Deru is an Emmy Award-winning composer, sound designer and producer. Deru grew up in Chicago, where his earliest influences came across the airwaves of the legendary University of Chicago radio station, WHPK. Listening to hip-hop and specifically its use of static in music, Wynn began his first forays into manipulating sound. He continued his sonic explorations at the California Institute of the Arts, where he
studied synthesis, digital signal processing, acoustics, music theory and composition, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Technology. While at CalArts, Ben also delved into world music,
studying Balinese gamelan, African drumming and hand percussion. His multi-layered musical sensibility combines hip-hop, electronic, world music and classical composition.

* Cosmopolis is an electronic music release from artist Fonemi. This work is inspired by the novel Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo, a book that tells of a modern odyssey along the streets of a great metropolis. The four pieces here, composition of Cosmopolis, sounds as the soundtrack of an introspective journey rich in ancestral suggestions and forgotten rituals recalls over time. The undervalued atmospheres that characterise the whole work seem to be held in suspension by a percussive magma that marks the passage of the past that becomes present. Cosmopolis is a fluid that carries our lost memories.
* Cosmopolis: a tribal and primitive dance, a propitiatory rite that has been handed down unchanged over the centuries.
* Fiori carnivori: what you do not expect, the flower, a symbol of delicacy and sensitivity that turns into an inexorable predator.
* Verso Casa: the return from a long journey, the lights that illuminate the asphalt and the distant flashes of unidentified cities.
* Tra Le Rovine: an ancient song, a prayer that exorcises a universal omen.

Frigio Records is going back in time for its latest release, some 38 years into the past. Back then a young Newcastle man was experimenting with early electronic instruments and synths. Mick Clarke is his name and nearly forty years later he is still at it. Two tracks have been borrowed from Clarke's seminal Games LP, each given a bit of modern boot polish from MinimalRome's Heinrich Dressel and Frigio father Juanpablo.'Walls of the Night' is a blissed out work of ambient prog rock abstraction. Think rumbling horror score and soaring guitar strings. Heinrich Dressel offers a giallo dipped remix. The building bars of the original are maintained, beats added for ballast and darkened organ keys for a remake etched with murderous intent. The flip is introduced by the dreamy 'Time Is Now.' Slender synthlines intertwine with gentle strings in a cerebral work. Juanpablo tweaks the 1979 material. Syrupy acid lines swim in meandering currents, a thick beat keeping time in murky waters of modulations and undulations.

3 Teens Kill 4 was born in the summer of 1980 in the East Village of New York City. They took their name from a New York Post headline. The group consisted of Doug Bressler, Brian Butterick, Julie Hair, Jesse Hultberg, David Wojnarowicz. There was a conscious decision not to have a front person or lead singer. David made cassette tapes with voices and sounds that he held up close to a microphone, fast-forwarding and rewinding. Julie tried different rhythms on a Korg rhythm machine. Brian played a Casio drum machine and Jesse was on bass. Doug joined the group in time to make the debut album. He was a music lover who understood how to avoid covering over the band's non-musicality.
Their debut 7-song mini-album No Motive' was recorded in Fall 1982 and self-released in 1983. Utilizing rhythm boxes, tapes of news reports, odd percussion tools, snatches of song, they chanted political narrative ideas about the modern mess at the time. The album is an amalgam of urban life, a twisted, anti-rhetorical approach to social issues. Songs weave together to create an intelligent, jarring sound. Razor sharp guitar licks and hauntingly ominous bass lines create a tense, oblique abstraction of pain and chaos. For this reissue we've added 3 previously unreleased bonus tracks. Doug says, These songs are very deliberately an experiment in Postmodernism. Sound bytes were stolen from the airwaves and recorded onto bargain cassette tapes. We were stripping the structure of the popular song to the bone. A sort of sonic Duchamp. And throughout it all, runs a childlike sense of play: the judicious use of toys, the schoolyard chants. All of this was happening during the dark and soul-numbing Age of Reagan, with the AIDS crisis looming on the horizon.'
All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. The jacket features a replica of the original front cover with a black and white photo by Seiji Kakizaki and updated back cover featuring a never before seen collage by David Wojnarowicz. Each copy includes a 12-page booklet with liner notes from each band member, photos, lyrics and press clippings. We've also printed a special 12'x24' fold out diptych painting by David Wojnarowicz whom this reissue is dedicated to.
We were representative of our time and place. East village, New York City, 1980s. All-night, after-hour busboy jobs in trendy nightclubs, early morning breakfast at Veselka's diner. Drugs and no-drugs. Gay and not-gay. New York.' - Jesse Hultberg

* Bad Taste Recordings follow up their funk-fuelled introduction of Malux into their fold with a brutal pair of hard-hitting tracks from Ukraine's leading rising neurofunk stars Agressor Bunx.
* 'Crusader' comprises a lean and chunky roller with minimal percussion driven by a bassline that means to level everything in its path with its girth.
* 'Total Destroy' brings the war drums out, with a cinematic choral battle cry and relentless waves of pulsating bass set to pulverize dancefloors. This pair of weighty tracks sets out to immerse the rave in low frequency mayhem punctuated by lean but on point percussion.
* Agressor Bunx are set on an awe-inspiring trajectory, with an incredible array of releases lined up to annihilate sound systems worldwide. Bad Taste smash things again with their artist and track selection in delivering this incredible single.

Fresh off the back of a chart topping Unity Through Sound release Foundation Audio head honcho Chad Dubz comes correct with three sound system bangers ready for the dance!
Opener Kingdom Dub' is a relentless display of dubstep pressure with its gnarly, pulsating sub twisting and turning throughout the track to devastating effect. It has been a firm favorite in Chads sets over the past year and is certified to destroy the dance floor.
As the name suggests Space Cadet' is a wavier affair. - Its peculiar drum patterns and quirky effects combine to form a superbly strange track that retains the heavy sub sensibilities and darkness of its counterparts.
Closer Drainpipe' keeps the dubstep fundamentals in tact with heavy subs, deranged mids, sparse atmospheres and industrial sounding percussion to create a mechanical monster, rapidly building momentum until it turns into all manner of chaos on the second drop. With FAV005, Chad Dubz has created a fine display of sound system- shaking-pure-dubstep-musical-goodness with possibly his best release yet... Essential!
Hard experimental techno, electro and distroted... Total weird stuff !!

The late Hiroshi Yoshimura, a pioneer of Japanese ambient music. Yoshimura was involved in a wide range of fields, such as sound design for public installations, graphic design, visual poetry, free improvised performance (using his own body) and inventing his own instruments, right up until he passed away in 2003.
The seven songson this album were created for a fashion exibition held at a warehouse in the Tokyo bay area. He released it on cassete tape on Japanese label 'Fukusei Gijutsu Kohboh' ran by Yoshio Ojima who produced the album.
Referring to the Loft: "As the time goes by, the Loft that was swept away ( forgotten) from the City but it somewhat has a look of a " City of Ruins" that reminds you of something you have forgotten. Something nostalgic. Sounds from the City and the vast landscape gave me a great opportunity to take a fresh look at Tokyo." says Yoshimura.
Referring To the Pier: His look towards Tokyo bay takes on the shape of sonic particles....tickling down gently while tinged with change. A landscape of Seven Sounds.
This is the first-ever vinyl release, 34 years after it's recording. The sleeve image is the same as on the original cassette release.

Charlie Ahearn's 1983 film Wild Style holds a place in both music and cinematic history as one of the first examples of a hip-hop film. Since its original release it has been widely praised for its hybrid approach as both a narrative musical and a documentary, and as a time capsule of sorts into the culture of hip-hop during its infancy in the 1980s. Besides its classic depictions of MCing, turntablism, graffiti, and breakdancing, the film also featured now legendary figures of the genres in acting roles, such as Grandmaster Flash, Fab Five Freddy, Busy Bee Starski, and many more. Wild Style went on to garner an immense cult following, portions of the film itself would be sampled in records by artists like Nas, Beastie Boys, MF Doom, and more, and would even be exhibited by museums in Chicago and Boston as part of programs on the art of the 1980s. Beyond the film itself however, Wild Style's soundtrack has gone down in music history as a crucial piece of hip-hop handicraft. During a time where the sampling of records by Queen or Kool & The Gang was commonplace in the hip-hop scene, Ahearn took a different route in soundtracking his film, calling upon seasoned musicians like Chris Stein of Blondie and R&B session drummer Lenny Ferraro to produce an entirely original set of lyricless groove, which would be sampled into true hip-hop instrumental tracks by turntablist Grand Wizzard Theodore. The mystery and intrigue surrounding the breaks became the stuff of hip-hop legend, and a treasure trove for crate-diggers and vinyl enthusiasts. World-renowned DJ Kenny Dope, a longtime fan of the breaks that made up Wild Style's soundtrack, re-edited the tracks into full-length cuts in 2014. KayDee now presents the singles individually for the first time ever. Each 7" is a piece of hip-hop history, as some of the most highly regarded and sought-after instrumental beats of all time, from one of the most important music films of all time.

A totally unexpected and absorbing side of electro-acoustic-jazz and dark electronics from this new 8 piece ensemble; reaching into bass depths and pop dimensions via microscopic miniature sounds and widescreen vistas. A huge recommendation if you're into Supersilent, Arve Henriksen, Deathprod, Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, Luigi Nono, Rashad Becker!
Basic calculations tell us that eight players are more than Supersilent's three, but like the Norwegian trio, this ensemble's music sounds much greater than the sum of its parts. This becomes especially evident once we factor in their 9th player - Matthias Erb manning the Klanggestalter; a semi-organic array of amps, filters and live algorithms used for 'neutralising the difference of acoustic and electric instruments' in a manner comparable with the 'Audiovirus' deployed by Supersilent's Helge Sten (Deathprod).
The nine players here each bring a fluency in pop, jazz, or contemporary musics to the table, as well as a couple of technical and post-production roles, in effect dealing with a democracy of pluralities and diversity. The way they consolidate them within morphing psychoacoustic parameters is nothing short of compelling.
The unfathomable dimensions of their sound are gradually revealed in the unfurling sound field of Erster Teil (First Part), morphing the sound stage from the hushed glow of electric guitar and Richard Koch's Henriksen-esque trumpet to the spatter of extended techniques against shifting backdrops which become the foreground, only to recede and leave the listener suspended in a sublime state, unsure of where they are or what to expect next. In this sense, Martyn Heyne of Efterklang's 'mix fuzz and fairy dust' comes into play in a way comparable to the lighting guy's role in film or opera dramaturgy.
The 2nd movement, Zweiter Teil finds those experimental urges in dizzier flight, veering with almost schizoid form between the animalistic tussle of skillful abstraction and more urgent, controlled swells of percussion and vibes with an effect recalling Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza at full, psychoactive flex, whilst a 3rd movement Dritter Teil affords the widest angled perspective, zooming out to a melancholic plateau rendered in sliding, oily streaks of pitching trumpet strewn with windswept percussion which coalesces into a febrile scuffle sounding something like one of Rashad Becker's noumenal Dances turned tempestuous, with drinks thrown, tables overturned and tents burned in the cranky finale.

Dirk Jan Muller's esteemed Cosmic Ground returns with a killer mini-LP/extended EP featuring two side-long epics of mind altering kosmische. Two previous outings on the Deep Distance label sold out in the blink of an eye and this is expected to follow suit. Next Phase Records is proud to present their second foray into vinyl with this four track EP of intricate and emotive Drum and Bass. It features exclusive new music from Moving Shadow pioneer DJ Trax as well as Enjoy, Earl Grey, Infest and Drummotive. To The Generation will be available on red vinyl with a sleeve designed by label curator Robbert Peperkamp.
On the A side Infest and Drummotive incorporate ballistic amens, reggae vocals and skank out basslines to forge a dutty slice of jungle fit for any dance floor.
Earl Grey crafts sophisticated drum patterns around heavenly chords and inspirational dialogue before launching into an accomplished section of breakbeat science.
The B side kicks off with DJ Trax sourcing inspiration from the big warehouse anthems of 1994. Soulful vocals and melodic amen patterns combine to form a joyous summer anthem. In contrast Enjoys contribution is menacing and sinister, much like the animal it's named after. Brooding effects and ominous pads help to create a sense of fearful apprehension.

(en) While the last Kompakt offering from legendary Russian synthesists SCSI-9 dates back to 2008, when the duo released their album Easy As Down' (KOMPAKT CD 068), co-founder and techno/house virtuoso ANTON KUBIKOV kept himself busy cultivating his own label Pro-Tez Records - and establishing a career as solo artist with a clear penchant for dub-infused soundscapes and ambient music. WHATNESS is Kubikov's first solo full-length under his proper name, weaving airy and iridescent sonic tapestry that takes up where his excellent contributions to our Pop Ambient compilations left off.
ANTON KUBIKOV's special ear for ambience and tonal spaces was always an integral part of SCSI-9's musical DNA that would alternate between tight dance workouts and vast melodic range - but it's as a solo artist that he truly started to explore these spaces, following mysterious sonic trails into foggy, reverb-heavy territory. Kubikov's contributions to the several instalments of our Pop Ambient compilation series announced the arrival of a promising new project in our talent pool - a promise more than satisfied with the immersive sound bath of first solo outing WHATNESS.
Going from the richly layered electronic drones of LIQUID MIRROR or ENTRANCE to the lush ambient dub of OTHER THE SEA and KURT'S FOREST, or the minimalist, evocative piano of OKTOBER and PIA, the album covers lots of stylistic ground, but remains committed to its overall aesthetic of misty mountains and serene valleys. With the endearing APRIL, a true Pop Ambient classic from the 2016 compilation (KOMPAKT 345 CD 128) makes a welcome return, priming the canvas for the subtle bass throb of NORTH and its charming synth bell orchestra. Masterfully refining and extending his sonic pallet on WHATNESS, ANTON KUBIKOV can claim his spot among the very best of today's ambient composers.

ZamZam 52 is a fully outernational collaboration between Bukkha (Spain/US), Madplate Sound (Italy) and Junior Dread (Brazil). We love these kinds of link-ups, as the simple act of creating tunes across borders and continents for an international community of listeners and dancers is an act of resistance in a time of increasing nationalism and restrictions on peoples' movement."Nada A Perder' ("Nothing To Lose") leads off with hard skanks and a deceptively wistful melody. Enter the honeyed-yet-gritty voice of rootsman Junior Dread over mashing steppers drums and a monstrous bassline designed with nothing but sound system pressure in mind. Junior Dread's powerful vocal, sung beautifully in his native Portuguese, delivers a message centered on unifying across difference: 'When Bukkha came with the instrumental,' he says, "it made me think about overcoming our generation's biggest obstacles if we unite.' His inspiration in music comes from 'life itself and Jah the Creator,' and as a believer in 'Word Sound Power,' Junior Dread focuses exclusively on positive, empowering lyrics. The dub version travels deep through swirling vapor trails, carving out space by stripping back the vocal, echoing the skanks hard, opening up the reverbs, firing off the lasers, and valving-up the bassline for an even more militant side. Bukkha's profile continues to rise with recent releases on labels including Dub Stuy, and Moonshine, with more dropping soon. Sparring partner Madplate Sound has also released on Moonshine and Dub Stuy, and Junior Dread is well-known for tunes on the above labels, and the seminal 'Rise' on Gorgon Sound's Peng Sound debut.

Beautiful piano melodies, ballads drawing their inspiration from jazz, classical music and cinematic imagery, hummed choruses, a mood at the crossroad of nostalgia and reverie, instruments with uncanny timbre and charm, chiseled percussions, added to a subtle electronic production, this is the recipe for Tout Va Bien, the second solo album by French composer Ezechiel Pailhès. All this is reflected in the opening track, River Day, which begins with 'prepared piano' sounds (a technique mastered by Ezechiel, which consists in placing different objects on the strings of the piano, to create singular percussive notes). This deliberately mysterious and poetic introduction, supported by light electronic effects, is soon combined with a light beat, organ chords and vocalisations by the artist, which gradually transform the track into a ritornello, with both nostalgic and lighthearted tones. As the artist states it: 'We could describe this type of emotion as a kind of endearing nostalgia, close to saudade,' i.e. the Portuguese term expressing the idea of a light melancholy stripped of its sickly aspect, or a 'haunted craving' as the singer and composer Pierre Barouh nicely put it. 'This feeling comes naturally to me when I write. Generally, in my music, I seek a form of soothing, of eternity even, (without meaning to sound pretentious). This is something I encounter in classical music, which is what I listen to most.

GRIDLOK SWITCHES UP THE GAME ONCE AGAIN WITH HARD-HITTING NEW ALBUM ON BLACKOUT
'A staple in the American Drum and Bass scene' - COMPLEX
'One of the true stalwarts of US dnb' - BROKEN CULTURE
A strong staple in the drum and bass scene for over a decade, Gridlok is no stranger to whipping up heavy, power-fuelled tracks guaranteed to leave a lasting impression. Ready to cause more chaos with a fresh spin on his trademark concoction of hard-hitting drums and driving basslines, Gridlok now gears up to unleash 13 face-melting new tracks on his new Z3R0 H0U2 LP.
Gridlok has been heading up his own label Project 51 Recordings since 2003 and has worked alongside some of the most high-profile artists in the scene, including Shy FX, Pendulum and Prolix. Dark, grimy and uncompromising, it's the Florida-born producer's experimental sound which gives him his unique edge.
Z3R0 H0U2 brings together a fiery selection of tracks to reaffirm Gridlok's reputation as a force to be reckoned with. Fans with a taste for the darker edges of the music spectrum can expect an album packed full of only the very best murky drum and bass as Gridlok makes a beeline for the early hours dancefloor. Twisting and turning through a mixture of fast-paced percussion and powerful rolling beats, Z3R0 H0U2 solidifies the artist's status as a true pioneer of one of the more off-centre subgenres

Mannequin Records is proud to present a LP compilation of Michael Antener (Swamp Terrorist) early 80's minimal synth/industrial projects Nacht'raum (with Michael Stämpfli) and, as solo, Bande Berne Crematoire.
.
Heavily influenced by the works of SPK and Nocturnal Emissions, Michael Antener made his first recordings in the basement of his parents house in a small village nearby Bern, Utzensdorf. He started BBC in 1980, a hybrid of Neue Deutsch Welle and noise/experimental, making a household name in the international home recording scene of the time and participating to many tape compilations.
Teaming up with Michael Stämpfli as Nacht'raum, he self-released the untitled mini-lp in 1983. Coming out from the same town of Grauzone, the duo moved into the darkest minimal electronic sounds, choosing German as main language for the lyrics and a Roland Tr-808 as main drum machine, bringing the sound to a proto-electro dimension. Nacth'raum will be historically a real gem in the 80's Swiss underground electronic music, together with Mittageisen, Grauzone, Liliput, The Vyllies.
Michael, by the way, later teamed up with Ane Hebeisen and they went by the name of Swamp Terrorists, releasing seven albums and touring throughout the world until the end of the nineties. At the end of the nineties he sold all his instruments and became independent as a graphic artist.

Saint Abdullah is a project by two Iranian brothers based in Brooklyn and Tehran, who create sounds largely inspired by the religious, political, and cultural history of Iran.
With The Sounds of Evil, Saint Abdullah passionately and unapologetically revisit the roots of their childhood in war-torn post-Islamic revolution Iran. These are family stories—of martyrdom, of loss, and of the tragedies of war, pieced together through aggressive sound collage, cultural sample archeology, and rhythmic structure.
Driven by spliced samples of the thundering sound of see-ne za-ni (ritualistic self flagellation or chest beating), the cry of Shia orators, distorted howls, vintage news clips, and a molten and pummeling pulse, Saint Abdullah twist and renew a sense of time and space. At once channeling and challenging these times that we live in.
This is political music, this is sacred music, and for most of us in the west, this is new music.
Raised in a conservative Shia Muslim family between Iran, Canada, and the UK, Saint Abdullah's most prominent exposure to music came from family visits to the mosque. Particularly during the holy month of Muharram, where Shia orators would lead mass ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad, in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.
For the two Iranian brothers, there's no question that Saint Abdullah formed out of a deep frustration with the way the West perceives—and treats Muslims and the Islamic faith. Their hope is that through music, they can help inform a larger inter-cultural dialogue—to build compassion in the way humans deal with issues surrounding race, religion, culture.

2017 heralds the return of the mighty Delta to his recently reanimated Microdot Recordings label with 'EP-1'. Across four-tracks of cutting edge drum & bass, we are treated to a diverse release that is already receiving heavy rotation from scene leaders LTJ Bukem, DJ Marky, DJ Flight, Resound, Need For Mirrors and Scaramanga Silk.
Over the years, Delta has showcased his various talents across many of the finest labels in the genre including Reinforced, Creative Source, Hospital, Dread, Penny Black, Liquid V, Ebony and Critical. Few producers can claim to have such an impressive catalogue of releases but Delta has achieved this status by having an uncanny ability to switch his hand to multiple styles, constantly reinvent his sound, fearlessly experiment and always hit the mark with world-class production. He does all this whilst keeping a firm eye on the heart of the dancefloor.
'EP-1' will prove to be a vital weapon in the box of any discerning DJ this summer and beyond. Delta has fired up vintage pieces of equipment in his studio in order to create the classic sound whilst simultaneously pushing the boundaries again by adding new twists and ideas across a broad range of drum and bass flavas. 'Dreaming From The Hip' kicks things off with an infectious vocal hook over a rollin' number that combines Soul, Funk and Techno into something that will remind fans of the Swerve era and seminal Creative Source releases. This is one in the signature Delta style. Next up is 'Feel' which delves into a dark, hypnotic affair with nods to House, 2-Step Garage and early Hardcore with the SH101 playing a prominent part alongside vocal stabs that drive the groove in an epic and eerie direction. 'Kundalini Serpent' opens the flip as L. Victor makes a stunning guest appearance on sax to bring a snake charming vibe to this deeply meditative hybrid of Jazz, Techno, Latin and Dub that summons an immersive energy to rise up your spine. Ending the EP is 'Second Wave' which sees Delta further demonstrate his love for Techno and Electro as he twists elements of driving Juno bass, Pro One melody line, scattered drums and Oberheim pads into something uniquely original and fresh.
Delta is well and truly back in full effect with 'EP-1'. This superbly eclectic record is a fine example of how to smash raves when you can expertly blend heritage with innovation. Once again, this respected and established artist proves that he is a boundary pusher that you simply cannot afford to miss out on. With more releases already in the pipeline, be sure to keep an eye out for the man like Delta.

Recital Program present a reissue of Dick Higgins's Poems And Metapoems, originally released on cassette by New Wilderness Audiographics in 1982.
Label head Sean McCann on the reissue:
"Since the beginning of Recital, I have been trying to publish the work of Dick Higgins. He is a chief figure in my artistic world, a hero of mine. And now, with the assistance of Charlie Morrow, it has finally happened. The first vinyl album ever published of Higgins!
Many know Dick Higgins as the father of intermedia, a key player in the birth of fluxus, and the owner/operator of the fabulous Something Else Press. His own poetry is what stirred me. Namely, his book Foew & Ombwhnw (1969), which contains one of my favorite of his works, 'Moments in the Lives of Great Women,' along with other lovely poems (some included on this LP).
This recording is of Dick himself reading his own poetry. Poems And Metapoems begins with a voice/tape manipulation piece from 1962, while the rest of the collection employs only language manipulation. Alike a cantor, each word is delivered perfectly with strong warmth. His ability to relay pattern-based poems into sonics is impressive.
This album was recorded in 1982, and contains the reading of poems written between 1958-1980. Originally published as a cassette tape by New Wilderness Audiographics, which is nearly impossible to find now. The audio has been remastered and cleaned up for this edition.
Dick lived large and was a busybody. All the faucets were running within him, handles broken off. Always pulling to mesh painfulness with playfulness, heart-warmth with heartbreak, comedy with tragedy etc. It is this plurality that Higgins encourages us to spark and flourish."
Includes a 16-page pamphlet of notes and poetry by Higgins and an essay on both Higgins and New Wilderness Audiographics by Charlie Morrow, Edition of 470.

London based producer Jimmy Billingham has been releasing experimental electronic music under various names for the last few years. But it 's his HOLOVR moniker (which focuses on his own brand of ambient electronica) that has gained him the attention he deserves. He's had well received releases on Firecracker Recordings, Opal Tapes and his own Indole imprint.
LM05 HOLOVR is the first release on Likemind Records (regarded as one of the labels that helped kick start the mid 90's IDM / electronica scene in the UK) for 20 years.
Both tracks lean towards that 90's sound and will appeal across techno, ambient and electronica genres as well as to DJ's and cratediggers who focus on the deeper sides of house and techno.

A1 - First up is Dankle's 'Isabigting'. Dankle has been steadily making a name for himself over the past couple of years, as part of
Offmenut Records, for his solo production and as one half of Phatworld, alongside Tich from The Squire of Gothos. 'Isabigting' is
straight up mutant bassline, with his warped, glass-like bass and hip-hop vocal.
A2 - Hailing from Germany, CPTN has making people stand up and take notice with his heavy, deranged bass, with releases on
Offmenut, Kitty Corner and a forthcoming EP on Kanji Kinetic's 'Mutant Bass Records'. 'Spazzo Rod' is a thunderous bass monster,
with its intense, grinding, fucked-up bass.
B1 - Sheffield's Thorpey's known for his take on the mutant bass sound and has had strong releases on Offmenut, Mutant Bass and
Bass Hound, to name a few. He usually makes 4x4 but here he drops heavy dubstep track 'Trippin' Balls' with a harsh, wobbly
bassline and tight, solid kicks.
B2 - Glasgow's LZWretch debuted on the digital release of Horror Boogie 01, with a raved-up bassline remix of Kanji Kinetic's
massive 'Citizens Unite'. 'Far From Home' is in a similar vein - rave stabs, breaks and a huge bassline.

Berlin's Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra returns with its fourth album Vula'. Having celebrated their 10-year anniversary with a stunning series of concerts last year, the 18-piece's new full-length showcases a stronger focus on harmony and melody - and yet AMEO sound no less explosive or unpredictable than before.
It arrives gently, with shimmering lights, soft winds, sashaying melodies, and of course, the isotherms and isotheres function just as they should: All of a sudden, lighting strikes amid the concord of instruments, unforeseen energies erupt and upset the rhythmic scenery with elemental force. Making a combined effort to create sheltering patches of harmony within the unfolding drama, leader Daniel Glatzel and his 18-piece working band' set out to harness album #4: Vula' is out 09/07/ 2017 via Alien Transistor/Morr Music.
Another musical tour de force that connects too many dots, decades, traditions and genres to mention, Vula' is quite a different beast compared to its live predecessor or the orchestra's last studio effort Bum Bum' (2012): There's bigger, bolder strokes, and the compositions are linked by recurring motifs and harmonies, which is why the new LP sounds like one entity: It is ONE hour-long adventure that needs to be listened to in full. Listeners who just dip in and out won't be able to grasp it, I'm afraid,' says Glatzel. It takes concentrated listening from beginning to end with good sound to feel it out. It might sound somewhat anachronistic, but it actually reflects the working process, because there were so many hindrances and obstacles we had to overcome during the five years in which we worked on 'Vula'. And yet, despite all the hullaballoo I felt inspired to see it through: the music seems to tell us 'if you can't devote yourself to this, you're lost, but if you can, you're bound to experience this ride fully.'
A musical deluge of incredible breadth and depth, the title Vula,' taken from the Tumbuka language (spoken in the northern region of Malawi), indeed translates to tempest or thunderstorm: Compared to what we get in Germany, rainstorms in Malawi are actually a lot heavier - they really shake your senses,' says Glatzel, a frequent visitor of the area. The storms in Malawi are announced by playful winds that arrive in the sweltering heat, and the giant clouds soon erupt into downpours that can last hours. The sky is utterly black, as the loud rain keeps hitting the earth incessantly. Plus, there's the loud cracks of thunder, of course...'
Ranging from softly trickling melodies ( Lakta Makta Ha') and hazy interludes, the mood, vibe, and pace change faster than cloud formations come flying across the screens nowadays (e.g. qwetoipntv vjadfklvjieop' with its arrangement à la Helmut Lachenmann). In fact, even the flight of swallows is often misleading: head-nod bliss, motion picture soundtrack vibes, and even J.B. licks aren't mutually exclusive in these compositions, as AMEO showcase with J Schleia,' a track that nods both to Dilla/Grandmaster Flash and to Bach-era counterpoint techniques. Elsewhere, a pounding surf-rock beat metamorphoses over the course of 14 minutes ( In Light Of Turmoil'), only to see them return to patches that are surprisingly catchy and calm. The final applause turns out just as thunderous though, after the album ends with the vibrant and colorfully orchestrated Papaya Flyers IX Epsylon,' a live recording that already foreshadows the group's later collaboration with Hermeto Pascoal.
A work that's born out of turbulent times - both internally and externally,' Glatzel says that AMEO's fourth album is generally driven by an urgent search for some kind of truth, a feeling that pushes its way through countless layers.' In fact, one can actually hear that the entire process, from writing to intricate post-production, took almost five years: The album's somewhat vintage, almost dreamlike and unrealistic sound is due to the fact that a full year lies between recording and mixing', Glatzel explains. It resembles the feeling of looking back and experiencing the past all over again. There was an element of detachment, but at the same time I was able to see things in a clearer light.' And it's true: These puddles, rippled and ripped open by an onslaught of raindrops, do look even more magical in that sepia-hued light.
About Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra:
A self-organized, independent group of likeminded individuals, AMEO is unlike any other orchestra: It's a steadily working ensemble with a steady focus on experimentation. Comprised of 18 young, in-demand musicians hailing from various countries and musical backgrounds, its members have previously worked in constellations that couldn't be more diverse - including Ensemble Intercontemporain, Tony Allen's Afrobeat, Jazz-Legend Kenny Wheeler, Camerata Bern, The Notwist and post-conceptual artist Cory Arcangel. Daniel Glatzel, the orchestra's leader and saxophonist, has been the main composer over the last decade since it's inception in 2006, overseeing the groups three previous releases Live on Planet Earth' (2014), Bum Bum' (2012) and Take Off' (2009).
Besides playing concerts in internationally renown venues around the world, AMEO also hosts and curates its own genre-defying events such as their music festival Kosmostage', concert series and special projects with artists like Hermeto Pascoal from Brazil, tribal musicians from Malawi or the Latvian chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Riga'.

"This is the first project they have worked on together for 25 years. And it sounds timeless."
25 YEARS LATER.
BEATE BARTEL and GUDRUN GUT do share history. They were both part of "the first german Punk Band" MANIA D. - John Peel's "Queens of Noises". 1981 Beate continued with LIAISONS DANGEREUSES and Gudrun with MALARIA! - Then experimented in sound and visual arts and released three albums with Matador along with Manon P. Duursma. Now the mature ladies got together again - kind of. Both did 5 tracks for Myra Davies spoken word album "Sirens" (moabit21)- independently as solo artists and producers. Moabit Musik releases a very special vinyl edition: the Instrumentals for Sirens.
They both did new extended mixed which differ from the original recordings.
Beate and Gudrun have gone in different musical ways for 25 years but on this album this does not count. It seems time does not matter. Both sides stand on their own right but also belong together somehow.
GUDRUN GUT is known for her activities in the Berlin music scene since the 80s, with MALARIA! and recent solo work as well as collaborations with AGF (GREIE GUT FRAKTION) and Hans-Joachim Irmler (GUT UND IRMLER). Latest work: "Gudrun Gut: Vogelmixe - Heimatlieder aus Deutschland remixed".
BEATE BARTEL was a part of the experimental impulse that made its way into today's art world and museums. Growing up in West- Berlin, Beate Bartel's interest in sounds and noise made her a sound engineer and she became a founding member of bands like MANIA D., EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, LIAISONS DANGEREUSES and MATADOR with Gut & Duursma.
MYRA DAVIES: Sirens
"Mischung', the German version of the visual art term "Mashup', describes this dynamic album of Word and Electronica. Myra Davies lyrics lean towards european culture through a lens of feminist authorship. But far from being an academic exercise, this is a Pandoras Box of biting Zeitgeist, past, present and future - propelled by beats, contrapuntal dynamics, broken rhymes, scraps from here and there, and fragments of great white deadmen. It is an acknowlegement, a connection and an affirmation of liberty to cut up any sacred cow. For Davies, clearly the personal is political and Art is even more so.
Davies & Gut have worked together since 1991 on several releases (DAVIES & GUT: MIASMA 1-3) and multi media performances. The last CD release was Myra Davies' CITIES & GIRLS, where BEATE BARTEL composed HANOI and was in parts performed together as part of "Paradiesisches Tor" at the Kulturbrauerei Berlin in 2011.
On SIRENS, Bartel and Gut have each contributed music for five tracks.

Early pioneers of the German New Wave music scene, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D. and Malaria!). Din A Testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of Berlin. Legendary is their partecipation at the 'Festival Genialer Dilletanten" in 1981.
Mixed and produced by Klaus Schulze on his own record label Innovative Communication in 1980, 'Programm 1' was a favourite in the playlists of the Italian cosmic dj heroes Daniele Baldelli and Dj Mozart.

Dog Lady Island, also known as Dog Lady — monikers of multi-instrumentalist Michael Collino — plopped out of the sewers of Michigan in 2009 via the same skate scene that included Aaron Dilloway, Nate Young and Heath Moerland... TIP!
.
They composed their rigs from homemade instruments and deteriorated electronics to create a particular brand of Michigan noise — sparse, horror-inflected and psychedelic. Dog Lady's early work was mostly of the drone violin variety, later evolving into de-tuned strings and rewired Marantz tape deck antics.
On 'Chopin', Dog Lady Island turns the spotlight on the dark side of the disco ball, rendering the composer's famous Nocturnes and Preludes with just a zither and with mesmerising results.

Myor Massiv proudly welcome FX and Worldwide Epidemic to the family. On the A-side the Lord of Darkness himself, Demonic Possession head honcho FX, does what he does best: dropping darkstyle bombs. Gritty Amens and howling horror pads, juxtaposed with a rather cheeky 80s pop sample. Mum's the word. On the flip, Worldwide Epidemic perfectly threads the thin, imaginary line between jungle techno and hardcore proper on Anthropomorphic, a 7 minute 4x4 epos that keeps on building and building, leading up to a synth laden climax of mid 90s squat rave proportions.

'Lips' pairs Roman Hiele (Ekster) — the ultimate Antwerp cocktail karaoke swinger — and Lieven Martens (Dolphins Into The Future), field recordist and English teacher. Drunken master style.... BIG TIP!
.
This outing, the duo's first, was recorded at the venerable electronic studios of Worm in Rotterdam and at Studio De Ziltige Olijf in central Antwerp, where the stench of salty human bulk creeps into your mouth from about a mile away. During Hiele-Martens' few concerts one could detect and, indeed, savour a Jiskefet-like attention to detail: the correct lighting, and a sensitivity towards 'tiny' sounds (such as ice cubes — shaken, not stirred — and little
bells). The recordings on this LP make the ears work like they should, and they therefore require your full attention.

Huron is back with his long awaited album Inside Information .
The Berlin based musician has come up with 13 original tracks for his album which sounds somewhere between the IDM/Glitch/Electronica.
Inside Information is an accomplished coming of age for Huron, a conceptual LP that brings together the elements that worked so well on his previous album "The Other Side Of Reality" on Raumklang records and his "Fissure" EP on Mindtrick Records. and mixed it into a robust, coherent statement.
Inside Information is a class in balance and restraint. The sounds and manipulations demonstrated throughout are carefully placed and never feel out of sync, despite the complexity of beats, progression and slowly growing electronic organisms. It's an album built for intense listening, longing to be played out live in an epic futuristic setting. As far as Intelligent Dance Music goes, this one's begging to escape any confines you dare to place on it.
The objects unfurl from within their constructed confines, glitching along the way through their mechanical lifestyles, wrapped over by curtains of cinematic textures, twisted, unhinged, and finally left on their own to breathe and evolve. There is more to the intelligent design behind each and every track that meets the ear.
As Huron likes to put it:
"Inside Information is a picture of an journey into the abyss of the soul , an uncertain dark future and a
hopeful morning light
Huron`s Inside Information Album will be released on the 23rd of July 2017 and will be released on Digipack CD and Digitally

*After a spate of releases from talented French producer Naibu, he returns with two further sublime, emotional tracks, which feature a range of guests and remixers.
*To say there is a 'quality' about Naibu's music is to try to capture the ineffable. There is a certain something, a certain je ne sais quoi, about the way in which he treats his craft, and in turn the listener. He travels on journeys which others simply do not. On 010, his talent shines through like never before.
*Horizons continue to come up with the goods, and Naibu is as eclectic as ever. Seriously essential music.
*Support includes:
Laurent Garnier, Friction, A-Sides, Treo, DBR,
Doc Scott, Basher, Bop, Bachelors of Science,
Negus, Chris SU, Forward, Syncopix, Survival.
Laurent Garnier
'Brilliant work as always full radio & club support from me ' Doc Scott '5/5' Basher 'Serious music!'
Syncopix 'Naibu ´s production once again shows how diverse and still original some artists can be!'

If you fancy the idea of conceptual sound art that recalls Oval wrecking Wendy Carlos Clockwork Orange score, you're recommended to read and listen on...
.
Principium 2.1 is the result of the result of a result, drifting further and further away from its original idea, as usual... The foundations for these recordings were laid when fellow Belgian artist Vaast Colson invited Remörk to interpret one of his artworks using sound. The chosen work was Principium which is based on the sheets of colour dot stickers that galleries typically use to denote sold artworks. Drawing random lines across these sheets, Colson ended up with small fragments of lines on the stickers which he then reassembled into a new continuous line or a closed shape, and which in turn he thought would make interesting graphic scores.
The sticker sheets, with their 8x12 grid resembling a sequencer, immediately appealed to Delacourt. This paved the way to Principium 1.0: a modified casio keyboard from which all keys but a single octave were removed, and to which an 8x12 sequencer was added. The latter uses the same layout as the sticker sheets, activated by placing white magnets on its surface to build sequences, mirroring the blank spaces of the missing stickers in the original artwork.
In 2013, Peter Fengler of De Player/DOB records asked Dennis Tyfus to make a Principium 1.0 record, though Delacourt wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of a 'definitive' recording. After some processing and rethinking the whole thing Principium 2.0 saw the light of day in 2015: an edition of 12 ten inch records, each one containing a different note combining to the full 'octave'. (The drones on each record contained various layered octaves, so that last bit is not strictly accurate.) The first record has the original recording, which is a slowly-shifting ten-minute organ-and-synth improv thing in a C note. Each subsequent record has that same recording sped up until it reaches the correct pitch: B note at around 5'20". The Principium 2.0 edition also contained a custom-built device that plugs in between the record player and stereo, switching the sound of the record on and off using a magnetic sensor. The magnets are placed around a 12' metal plate (also included) that sits underneath the record, turning the turntable into a sequencer.
For the presentation of Principium 2.0 at Stadslimiet Remörk used six turntables, matching-up with the original six sticker colours (which were replicated for the vinyl). Delacourt programmed a random score generator in Pd that determined which (if any) of the two records for each turntable was to be played, at what volume, and the mode the electronics should be in (the magnets can cause either gaps in the sound, or bursts of sound in the silence). This score was then followed for eight hours continuously. The Principium 2.1 LP contains four straight excerpts: no edits, no processing. These excerpts, selected by Remörk, quite accurately represent the possibilities of the installation, but also hold their own as musical miniatures.'

Limited to 200 copies on yellow, labelless vinyl is the latest release on Leipzig's Minor Label, fusing the creative forces of the two artists that have been responsible for a main part of the labels output throughout the past two years. Whilst Yvat fuses heavy distortion, beat twisting and melodious Electronica in a kind of Aphex Twin-manner on the A-side we see Tlic explore cold, grinding, sci-fi'ish soundspheres based on a slow, pounding 4/4 foundation on his B1 tune "Digital Kautschuk" whilst things are speeding up with "Homeo Sapiens" on B2 to a not less grinding effect. Frosty.

The Owl's Map...some of the most delightful electronica to arise in Britain since Aphex Twin, the Black Dog and Global Communication.' Bethan Cole, The Sunday Times
First released in 2006, The Owl's Map was the second LP from Belbury Poly, the recording alias for Ghost Box's co-founder Jim Jupp. By turns jaunty and dark, the music was inspired by TV soundtracks, library music, English folk music and 1970s electronic music technology. Although its antecedents may have been Boards of Canada, Stereolab, Plone and the Look Around You TV series, this album was to set the tone for the now familiar hauntological culture of Penguin book style packaging, 70s horror movie occultism, blogs from imaginary English towns, ersatz public information films and darkly ironic fakes of forgotten children's TV & books.
The Owl's Map has been re-mastered by Jon Brooks for this first outing on vinyl. Ghost Box designer, Julian House has adapted the original CD artwork and text to the new heavyweight vinyl format. It includes a colour card inner sleeve with a visitor's guide to Belbury and a free download code card.
"If Ghost Box are the torch bearers for the hauntology zeitgeist', as Simon Reynolds suggests in The Wire 273, then label cofounder Jim Jupp's Belbury Poly is the psychogeographer amongst his cohort. On The Owl's Map Jupp aims for nothing less than the (re)creation of previously unknown topography."
Jon Dale, The Wire
"Belbury Poly's music, while ripe with anodyne melodies and soft-toothed waveforms, is unsettling. What unsettles, of course, isn't just the thought that all the snoozer science reels called to memory were actually much more quietly batshit and fascinating than I'd ever realised as a kid. It's the possibility that my memory has distorted it even further, that my reaction to Jupp's music is itself queasy, misfired nostalgia."
Mike Powell, Stylus

'We're very proud to present this new single on Help! The A-side, Gratitude, is a track recorded in 2014 by DJ Central in Rubber Studios, Aarhus. If it wasn't for the support and encouragement of fellow Regelbau-homies Kasper Skov and DJ Sports, this piece of energetic dancemusic wouldn't have seen the light of day. The long, vivid, ambient penta-tune on the 2nd face was recorded during same summer in Amsterdam by Ask Your Hands (Tobias Sachse, KAAP, Bobby van Putten, DJ Sports and Central). Releases like this don't thread everybody's needle but we're gonna throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.'

Hippie Priest returns to Argot to release his second album, See It Through. Having made great strides at dialing in his production and strengthening his songwriting since the release of Gaia Variants in 2016, the young Champaign-based producer focuses his sophomore longplayer around a narrative approach. 'See It Through is a day in the life of a lioness", says Hippie Priest, 'Beginning with the soft ambience of waking up in the morning, leading up to an intense hunt in the middle, and into evening revelry and eventual slumber". The album's 11 tracks cover a large stretch of sonic ground to tell this story. Its glowing opener, 'Umbrella Keeper' gives way to widescreen stompers 'Thorn' and 'Quicksand' that clear the way for more contemplative moments like 'Crystal' or 'Cherry Blossom". One can't help but imagine a dramatic hunt while listening to 'Are You Okay' or carnivorous displays on 'Desire". Even tender scenes are possible with closers 'Tanuki' and 'Tired Lioness", gorgeous movements in which Hippie Priest's melodic profficiencies shine brightest. a DANNY ELFMAN score : It was more fun than I ever had working on a movie. It was so crazy and doing all the vocals was so much fun. I found myself falling into voices, singing vocal mannerisms. I was having such a gas.' - Danny Elfman
__
Tim Burton's 2005 adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book was conceived as long ago as 1991, and was in development for several years before Burton was involved in the production. He immediately brought regular collaborators Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman aboard.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory represents the first time since The Nightmare Before Christmas that Elfman contributed to a film score using written songs and his vocals. The film was released to critical praise and was a box office success, grossing $475 million worldwide.
The wonderfully quirky melodic score and songs from one of Hollywood's great composers harks back to Edward Scissorhands, Burtons' and Elfman's most personal work, and is a return to the composer's vintage' sound from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

This Triple album brings together the two main strands of FSOL's current output, namely the From the Archives" series and the "Environments' albums. Comprising a total 48 tracks, 35 of them are new or previously unreleased:
Vinyl 1 is the Archives album which pulls 8 previously released tracks from the series but in some cases new mixes of these tracks have been created specially for this release. The other 9 tracks are unreleased Archive tracks from the vast vaults of FSOL. The "From the Archives' series is no exercise in barrel scraping, FSOL are well known for their prodigious output regularly going through periods of creating several tracks a day. Many of these tracks would be 'lost' only for not fitting current projects, created only for special live events and broadcasts or would change so drastically during the recording process that the original version would bear little resemblance to the released track. From the Archives seeks to give light to these tracks that are as good as anything released on their 'official' albums.
Vinyl 2 is the Environments album 16 Brand new tracks which continues the journey along the ambient environmental path. As the title suggests, each Environments album is a journey through a specific mood, place or environment.
Vinyl 3 brings together much of the piano work FSOL have done over the years and also includes 2 new cover versions of tracks by Brian Eno and his brother Roger Eno. The piano is mainly played by Grammy Nominated / Ivor Novello Winner DANIEL PEMBERTON - well known for his film score work - (Gold, Steve Jobs, King Arthur).
Views contains 10 previously unreleased tracks - 15 tracks in total

I have had an idea if I apply the neural network to create my sound work for long time. When I had a performance at Centre Pompidou with Peter Rehberg and other friends I tried to talk about the idea with a French guy from IRCAM. But, he couldn't understand my idea, which by using neural network the sound I create would never have any repetitions.
That was 2002 and I had to wait until 2015 when I had a grant from New York State Council on the Arts through Issue Project Room, then its director Lawrence Kumpf applied for my new work. The grant finally made possible for making my cherished idea, the neural network piece, reality.
I had talked about the idea with Prof. Tony Myatt at Surrey University, UK and he developed the software for the piece with a team included Dr. Paul Modler. At the lab in the University a series of my performances of my MP3 Deviation were captured and used to train Kohonen Neural Networks to develop artificial intelligences that simulate my performances. Hence a birth of new piece AI Deviations. I had a premiere at Issue Project Room on June 9th 2016 and the venue was more than packed and here is the performance of the piece. (Yasunao Tone)

Oberst & Buchner are next up on Freeride Millenium and the two Bavaria born, Vienna based producers deliver an EP that offers their interpretation of what 'modern summer togetherness sounds like.' The talented pair started making music together aged 15 and aim to cook up emotionally driven jams. They do so on labels like Heimlich, Underyourskin Records, Schönbrunner Perlen, Lokd, and always get the juices going, as they do once again here. Beginning with the brilliant 'Greg' we dive into a breakbeat bath of summery chords as playful claves dance on the horizon. It is a melodically rich track with spiritual feelings that really bliss you out. On the moodier 'Emile' night time arrives and warm chords mix with jangling, organic glass and percussive tinkles that reflect rays of light. It's a perfectly jazzy and loose number that really suspends you in a rueful place. Last but not least, 'Embrace' is a fluid intergalactic convention with sparse drum kicks weighed down by sombre synths. A skittish, dubstep style groove then comes in and elevates the track with gentle guitar licks and slithering synths adding colour, and overall it has the same zoned out feel as a thousand-yard stare. This is a brilliant mood EP that mixes up the synthetic with the organic, creating some fascinating grooves as a result. The release once again features original artwork from the ever talented Daniel Rajcsanyi. Thanks for purchasing a real copy!
