Alessio Natalizia draws a stylistic line underneath a strong run of releases over the last couple of years with this extended vinyl set re-working all three volumes of his limited 'Voices' cassette series.Compiled, they mark a point of transition between old Not Waving and the new Not Waving (soon to be revealed in a crushing LP of dancefloor gear for Diagonal), presenting 18 reshaped mixes of the tapes' original 23 tracks, all shuffled up like a deck of tarot cards to present a whole new syzygy and narrative. Gleaning inspiration from Ivan Pavlov, Oliver Sacks, B.F. Skinner and the relationship between perception, memory, attention and comprehension', they render a quietly burning mind full of ideas and synaesthetic sensation, from the lush drone harmonics of 'A Part of Thought' to pulsing EBM lab golems like 'The Behaviourist Approach', with a really special touch for beautifully wistful, Eldritch/Italian analog electronics in the likes of 'No Kill' or the lump-in-throat closer, 'Voices'. Perhaps the best comparison we could make is with Pye Corner Audio's 'Black Mill' volumes, but Not Waving's varied yet coherent aesthetic feels more like you're listening to a lost compilation of library music or early industrial music than the work of only one, super-talented guy.

There used to be a time when ring tones were important. You were easily recognizable as one of the few people actually owning one of these new gadgets called ›mobile phone‹ (or ›handy‹ as the Germans say). Later you could make an important distinction by choosing a ›cool‹ ring tone...

In May 2014 the Festival »Doofe Musik« (»Stupid Music - Songs for Dreaming, Sedation and Forgetting«) took place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin. As part of the »Anthropocene Project« the festival focussed on escapism and the special function of music when retreating from reality. Detlef Diederichsen, curator at HKW, and Holger Schulze, Head of Sound-Studies-Lab Berlin, decided to not only focus on music which music lovers usually hate, e.g. ›Schlager‹, German folk music, Light Jazz, but also on ring tones.

The audio logo of Deutsche Telekom has been part of Germany's mobile phone culture from the very beginning so it acted as a starting point to question the usual concepts for ring tones. Using Christian Kellersmann's idea of the »Pocket Symphony« ten artists were invited to come up with adaptations of Telekom's audio logo. The results were performed for the first time during »Stupid Music« and once again in October of the same year when most of the recordings you can find on the album were made.

As you will hear: The short motif, as simple and unforgettable as it is, is ideal musical material.Everyone knows it, everyone has some sort of connection to it and these ten different versions, these ten different positions, open up the most varied possibilities for associations.

It is time that we take the ring tone seriously again. As the most reduced musical form that is the most-widely available in the whole world it contains enormous and unrealised potential!

MTA have just announced their newest signing, one of the hottest names in Drum & Bass, Dimension, with his brand new dance floor single 'Love To Me', out December 7th.



Lead track 'Love To Me' received it's world premiere by the UK's top tastemaker Annie Mac as a Special Delivery on her Friday night show on BBC Radio 1 at the weekend. With killer vocals over a frantic beat and undeniable energy, 'Love To Me' is guaranteed to fill floors and spark even more interest in the breakthrough producer. On the flip is 'Move Faster', a weighty DnB cut already receiving support from Wilkinson, Netsky and Friction to name a few.



London based Dimension has already had a massive year with the release of his biggest tune to date 'Crowd Reaction' reaching number 1 on Beatport's Drum & Bass chart and being playlisted on BBC Radio 1Xtra. His most recent remixes for Example, Maverick Sabre and MTA label bosses Chase & Status received plenty of air time on BBC Radio 1 from the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Friction and Mistajam. As his production talent is taking off, so too is his DJing with stand-out sets at Global Gathering, Exit, Fabric and Amnesia this year.

Nothing New' by Gil Scott-Heron is an album of stripped down vocal and piano versions of songs from his back catalogue, recorded in New York with producer Richard Russell between 2005 and 2009. Nothing New' features these stripped down versions of some of Gil's best (though not necessarily best known) songs, as well as excerpts of conversations between takes. The songs were chosen by Gil himself and it was only when compiling the album that Russell realised that each song was taken from a different album, Gil having carefully curated his selection

Idle Hands has been broadening its reach both sonically and geographically this year, turning to ambient electronic dub with Portland's Strategy, atmospheric broken beat with London-based Leif and stripped down house with German producer Matt Karmil. This latest EP brings the focus back to Bristol with O$VMV$M, the latest project to emerge from the Young Echo milieu. Comprised of Neek (commonly found bashing out grime and steppers alongside Kahn) and Amos Childs (of Jabu and Zhou amongst others), the eight track release marks a step into even more experimental territory for Idle Hands while retaining the principles of soundsystem pressure that form a backdrop to the label's activities. The brief vignettes on IDLE026 are the result of sample scouring from all kinds of unlikely sources, following the practice Neek and Amos undertook when preparing their first cassette release for No Corner earlier in the year.

In effect, DIAG023 marks a knowing gurn of respect between these mutually advanced mentalists.The two-part, 20 minute 'Flapper That' may be EVOL's most accessible boffin-style banger to date. Occupying the nocturnal space between the poignant maximalism of Tim Buckley & the codeine beats of Mount Kimbie, Cloud Boat aka British duo Sam Ricketts & Tom Clarke bring a gorgeously original & soulful new slant to electronica with 'Wanderlust/Drean' the new double A-Side single from their upcoming debut LP.

The first time we heard of Cloud Boat was with their R&S single 'Lions On the Beach' a slice of folk-spliced 2-step electronica, shimmering & swooning in all the right places. Making the short hop from R&S to the reactivated sister label Apollo seems a natural progression as their music continues the lineage of classic, experimental records from the likes of Aphex Twin, Mark Van Hoen & Biosphere.

The easy place to go is emotion - warm, richly expressive vocals ebb & flow beautifully over haunting lyrics but the music as a whole signifies anything but easy listening. 'I found an old MP3 player when I was back at my folks' house, in with a load of my old stuff, and it had this weird track on it... a dancehall rhythm made with a didgeridoo sample. It was labeled 'Bum Spider' and I tried for ages to google it and couldn't find anything (googling 'bum spider' brought some strange results) so I put a tweet out describing it but... nothing. Then my manager, who knows the producer Bullion, told me it was by him and that he must have sent it to me ages ago! Anyway, I called Bullion up and said I had to release this track because I'd become obsessed with it. Rye Rye came to mind immediately for a top line so I got in touch and she loved the track so got on it and came back with 'Keep Up'.' - DAVE MACLEAN, KICK + CLAP Bullion's productions are full of distinctive rhythmic arrangements and unexpected changes - owing to a short attention span and acute attention to detail. Anthony selbst, der braucht übrigens auch keinen Irokesenschnitt auf dem Kopf, um aus der Reihe zu tanzen. Mit 12 Jahren legt er an Afterparties in der Schweiz auf, mit 17 schmeisst er seine ersten Raves und kurz danach kommen seine ersten Releases bei ein paar englischen Labels. Und seither Jahre der Komposition und Produktion bei allen möglichen Labels, in Frankreich und sonstwo.

Er stammt aus dem französisch-deutsch-schweizerischen Dreiländereck und wächst in Basel auf. Einer Stadt mit unerwartet reichhaltigem kulturellem und musikalischem Reichtum, welche ihn sehr inspiriert. Ihn, den musikalisch hyperaktiven, der ganze Nächte ohne Pause zum Tanze aufspielt und dann in einer Woche 10 neue Songs schreibt... Taking the track firmly into the main room, it's awash with pristine, clattering drums and classic Spectrasoul rib rattling bass, all the while retaining the intensely satisfying vocals that will stay in your head long after the record plays out.

An exploration of spiritual identity and femininity, the new EP titled 'Conscious Cunt' from Swiss-born, Nepalese-Tibetan electronic producer Aïsha Devi is the latest release to come from fabric's Houndstooth label.

Besides founding her Swiss-based imprint, Danse Noire, releasing leftfield electronic music from the likes of IVVVO and Vaghe Stelle, Devi's latest solo productions are further testament to her personal evolution. Devi's reconnection with her origins meant a newly formed approach to music production under her birth name.

''Conscious Cunt' embodies different perspectives on womanhood and the dichotomy between materialistic femininity under societal pressure and spirituality.' Devi says. 'It's an EP about sluts, awareness, death, and women in a patriarchal society... enlightenment, violence, resistance, mothers, daughters, consciousness, Guy Debord, Vedas and eternity. It's also a high-five to my grandmother who raised me and passed away early this year.'

Heavily influenced by her dedicated practice of meditation, Devi's work is often visceral and ritualistic, fusing her intense, warped vocal samples with sombre, and at times industrial instrumentation. 'I've been meditating for six years and it has a huge influence on my music. In my way of production, the practice has transformed me, opened my cosmos, expanded my skills, extended the knowledge that I'm modulating in music.' Devi says. 'My voice and my machines are the vibrations of my soul, mind, and body and out of body explorations. Both meditation sessions and music production merged into one same ritual.'

This meditative process extends into the live experience where she incorporates the overtone and guttural chanting techniques she learned, as a healing method through frequencies.

The lead track, 'Kim & The Wheel of Life' is a whirling melodic vortex of echoing synths underlaid by deep rumbling kicks and melancholic undertones before morphing into a vocal-centric piece. 'It's a cynical comment - societal emptiness vs dharma & eternity... or the complete fail of modern feminine icons, empowered but still complying to patriarchal and capitalist codes'

The beatless 'Aurat' is an Urdu/Hindi poem written by Pakistani feminist, Kishwar Naheed. 'It's about revolt inside the marital system and revolution in a conservative society.' says Devi. 'That track is the second 'vox tool' of a series, where the idea is to invade the club with my voice, spreading some political, spiritual and subversive matter that can be mixed by DJs in clubs and raves. Since my previous EP, 'Throat Dub', I'm including a tool in each release and the seriality is the idea, like a collection.'

Whilst 'The Saviour on Spilled Blood', a reference to motherhood, is a slow-building epic, using Devi's dark, chanting voice to accumulate energy and emotion.

Arriving as a precursor to her debut album described as a 'materialisation of her initiatic journey through her spiritual and origin quests' due later this year, the EP will be out on Houndstooth on 24th July 2015.

Deadboy RETURNS from the nighttime abyss with a new EP for Numbers, out next Monday, April 28th.

Over the course of four EPs for Numbers and creation of his own label 'Total Fantasy', Deadboy has charted his own path far beyond the deep black space of mediocrity with previous records 'If U Want Me', 'Here' & 'BLAQUEWERK'. On 'Return' Deadboy journeys further into uncharted territories, taking his music to the darkest recesses of disco and extraterrestrial synth-werk.

The opening track 'Return' finds the London-based producer taking cues from the likes of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze with a gentle ambient opener that unwraps to reveal a beautiful and moving track. 'Des Niles' is a shimmering disco track built around an 80's boogie bassline, plus those killer Deadboy vocal chop-ups that take us even deeper into the producer's nighttime world.

Samples are worked to within an inch of their life on the floor-ready 'YHVH', whilst punchy bass and synth stabs take care of the rest. Things then move swiftly on to 'Life Code', with the Deadboy once again notching the tempo down and letting the track's wistful oriental melodies ride out into the dark.

Return has already been praised by Pitchfork, FACT, XLR8R, Pigeons & Planes and Dummy and is accompanied by an ethereal short film inspired by the title track, created and directed by Thomas Traum and viewable here.

Mondo is inspired by library music, a genre frequently used as theme or background music in radio, film and television in that very same period. Production music libraries typically offer a broad range of musical styles and genres describing everything ranging from deserts to war and sports. Library music composers and session performers had no constraint at all. They typically work anonymously, have rarely become known outside their professional circle and they have produced what probably is the most creative music catalogue ever. The Mondo productions started with four releases to describe locations: dedicated to seascapes; scenarios range from sea fauna to poaching, from natural parks to sea dunes. Landscapes surrounded by plains, mountains, lakes, forests,beaches and marches. A land that still recalls a legends, fantastic tales that tell the story,the events ,the origin of a real place,when past and present coexist in a perfect harmony. Two-thirds of Sigur Rós, bass player Georg Holm and drummer Orri Páll Dýrason, have teamed up with Icelandic composer Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and Sigur Rós touring guitarist, and Georg's brother, Kjartan Holm to create an uninterrupted 72-minute instrumental album inspired by 100 years of archive footage of vaudeville, circuses and carnivals. A pulsating work throughout, the 14 track album, which has been made to accompany the forthcoming BBC documentary film The Show of Shows, was written and recorded at Sigur Rós's new studio space in Reykjavik, and features contributions from the celebrated South Iceland Chamber Choir.

Mnemosyne is the new album from Berlin based, Italian/Belgian duo Lumisokea. Shedding the bass heavy rollers found on last years Apophenia EP for Opal Tapes, Mnemosyne sees the duo welcoming space and tension into the fold. Most of the groundwork for the record was made during a week long residency at the W.O.R.M studios in Rotterdam which saw the duo make full use of the studios collection of synthesisers from the 60's and 70's. The improvisations with these peculiar machines were subsequently edited and combined with heavily processed recordings of gamelan bells, prepared piano, cello and acoustic drums. A meticulous two year period of reworking and reflection followed before finally arriving at what you have here; Mnemosyne. An exploration of the grey area of sounds that vacillate between electronic and acoustic and aim to show their coalescence and kinship, like shadows of forgotten sonic ancestors. Shards of oblique melody merge with slow-burning rhythms, sudden changes of scenery melt into fog-drenched sonic artefacts. In their own words, "The whole process felt like like cultivating a garden of the imagination which is no rush to be opened to the visitors. "The DJ Producer" has been a guiding force in the UK Dance scene since he arrived into the stage back in 1992 with his legendary back2back set with techno god Tanith at Universe. His productions and DJing have been influential for a huge host of international artists. Though he is signed to one of Europes biggest Hardcore Techno agencies he regularly moves outside this sphere to show he is truly a master of all styles. "The Very Last Drop" is a full-on jungle hard hitter. Perfectly cut up and overdriven Amen breaks underpin this dance floor devastator of a track. On the flip side of this 12" comparative newcomer "Smyla" serves up another awesome slab of Jungle with incredible upfront production that maintains the old skool flavour. respective fields to present These Hidden Hands; a musical long-player that exemplifies the pairs unique approach to production.If the 'Strix EP' saw them channel their energy solely towards the dancefloor, this project sees them at their most visceral, refreshingly embracing the extended format with a vigour akin to that first demonstrated on Tommy Four Seven's debut album for CLR, 'Primate'.From the confrontational textures of opener 'Trelesire', to the sonically abrasive 'Severed', it's clear that THH are far from just indebted to the innovators of old. The engulfing drama of 'When Told' and harrowing tension of 'Kheium' showcase their singular approach to sound design, their adept versatility in utilising both industrial tones and ethereal melodies. 'Laika', is a case in point. Scattered rhythms, gauzy synths and rugged atmospheres conjure a distressed nostalgia. One Way Static Records is proud to be bring you their latest release, one where we had the chance to work with German director Ulli Lommel and composer Tim Krog.

In 1980 Lommel directed 'THE BOOGEYMAN' starring John Carradine, which became a 'slasher genre' hit and made the UK's banned 'Video Nasties' list. Two sequels were also produced in 1981 and 1983.

To underscore his film, Lommel needed a soundtrack that fitted the times like the synth based John Carpenter styled soundscapes used in Halloween. By the late seventies, electronic music had achieved new heights of popularity. Technological innovations such as the Mini-Moog became a weapon of choice for new composers, churning out chilling electronic music that showed the industry its full creative potential. For this he turned to Tim Krog and his team 'Synthe-Sound-Trax' composed out of Jan Barlett and Ed Christiano.

This trio produced a soundtrack far more progressive and unique than one might expect. Moving easily between traditional melodies and more experimental textures, The Boogeyman's score is a superb example of an economical but highly effective scoring style that would be prevalent throughout the ensuing decade.

As you listen to these soundscapes, remember one thing: "The Boogey man" will get you if you don't watch out'.

Well recommended for the freaks' the Manchester based independent music specialist Boomkat ones finished a review about a release of Düsseldorf based DJ and producer Tolouse Low Trax aka Detlef Weinrich (also known as one fourth of the German avant-band Kreidler). What a freak distinguished we do not really know - we just assume he walks this world on a different path. Tolouse Low Trax surely does! The latest evidence of this fact are four tracks of whom two are remixes by befriended artists, and two are coming right out of the middle of Tolouse Low Trax's very own sense for odd and catchy grooves. His friend Miles, also know as one-half of the experimental industrial techno and dark ambient duo Demdike Stare, puts hand on the track 'Sussing', originally released on Tolouse Low Trax's latest album 'Jeidem Fall' in 2012. He covers it with an enigmatic, shadowy veil in terms of sounds, space, and obscure driving arpeggios in order to give the track a 'brighter haze' feeling. A subliminal hypnotic transformation that swings with a unique dark and demanding drive. The second remix was done by Wolf Müller, a Düsseldorf based musician that released two highly acclaimed EPs on the German DIY label Themes for Great Cities. His profession as a percussionist calls the tune as he mutates the original track 'Jeidem Fall' into a tribal celestial dance tune that jacks with an Afro-Baroque elegance. Also the two EP contributions of Tolouse Low Trax himself move on very different terrains but seem to come out of the same experimental laboratory. With 'Vindeland' he delivers a track full of dark synthlines and drunken shuffled patterns that morphs into a nervous soigné sensation. In contrast his arrangement 'Eisenbahnzunge' starts with a celestial arpeggio until a strange alienated voice appears and everything melts layer by layer into an elliptical ambient experiment beyond the usual definition. Both tracks are deeply rooted in Tolouse Low Trax's very own spontaneous minimal hardware approach of producing bold, hypnotic dance-not-dance music that shall not only illuminate the so called freaks!

The reissue sees the unmixed disc replaced by a new unmixed one. The album's artwork was changed to credit Pendulum for mixing the album, which became notable for its controversy. In fact, shortly after the release, Rob Swire denounced on the Dogs On Acid forum that he did not know of the release, and did not give permission. This caused an uproar in the thread, many members believing that Fresh was capitalizing on the success of Hold Your Colour. The scandal eventually caused Pendulum to leave the label. Also, in Jungle Sound Gold, a mistake was made in the tracklist of Disc Two. The first track `Intro` `was actually``Masochist``, which made a whole shift in the song titles, making all of them wrong, and having ``Another Planet`` name as ``[Untitled Track]``. Moreover, Disc One was actually the mixed album by Pendulum while the Disc Two contained the unmixed tracks.

Those with a passion for heavyweight electro and Drexciyan sounds have long held French producer Franck Kartell in high regard. He's been working away on the fringes delivering high-grade material for a decade, and finally got round to dropping his debut album, Afterlife, last year. Here he delivers a swift follow-up, effortlessly flitting between icy ambience, Vector Lovers style electro-IDM, creepier compositions, and the kind of oddly symphonic, soundtrack-inspired fare that exists to stir the emotions. It's a far more fragile sounding set than some might expect, but no worse for it. While there's little dancefloor material on show, Kartell's downtempo fare is a cut above most of his contemporaries.

Emotional Rescue returns to the post war music of West Germany and the work of Dominik Von Senger and his cohorts based around the Dunkelziffer project. This special "Sampler" EP of recordings was produced as their part in Cologne's Stollwerck art complex, that acted as a home and inspiration to their musical experiments. Based within the disused industrial warehouses spaces of Stollwerck, a mix of post-hippies, punks and anarchists created a community within that fed off each other's artistic endeavours. While given space rent free, a requirement for the musicians centered around Dunkelziffer, The Phantom Band and The Unknown Cases, was to provide a collection of music for release on a compilation album to highlight its work. Released in 1985, the "Off Record No.1 Stollwerck Sampler" LP contained a collage of post-punk, krautrock, dub and avant-garde music and here on this special 6 track 12", a condensed Stollwerck Sampler EP is presented some 30 years later. Starting with the almost undiscovered Memo Walk by The Unknown Cases (see EES016), here they eschew their afro-cosmic sound and turn in a deep jazz fusion funk jam that wouldn't look out of place during Miles' "On The Corner" period, except with a krautrock metronomic kick. One of the challenges of this Sampler was what to leave out. The tracks that make up the rest of the EPs first side highlight what the project was really about. The one-off Project X and Dominik Von Senger's wonderful solo piece, Track Of Sample, are the sounds of a collective in full hair down, experimental productions where all is thrown in to the melting pot and see where this goes. The second side is more of the same and could easily of appeared on the Dunkelziffer "Retrospective" (ERC007/8/9) reissues. However, this shouldn't be dismissed lightly. This is mesmeric music that captures a time and place perfectly. Whether Die Art or A.N really ever existed beyond this studio concept is irrelevant. The Stollwerck Sampler EP captures that moment, for this moment.

embarking upon a journey into the unknown, where only the journey is the reward - not the destination. a road trip into distance. towards the horizon. getting in motion and never standing still.

this album - my first one - is a product of my own journey towards distance. my time-out at the other side of the atlantic ocean - 6 months in new york. this imagination and experience has filled me with positive energy. i found myself in a new situation full of self-determination and concentration (revive). In order to structure this idle space (empty quarter) for me i dedicated the early morning hours with a calm and alert mind to exclusively making music. no interruption, no distraction entered these bright morning hours (region luminous), during which this album was created. during this window i went on a musical expedition, i developed new ways of creating music and finally found the content and form of expression with which I wanted to fill this space (towards distance).

my dearly beloved blueberry granola (layers & blueberries) gave me perfect energy for these early hours and served as inspiration for for the track of the same name.

during this phase i wanted fully engage in the journey without looking too far ahead and without expecting anything too precisely. i tried to focus more on why i wanted to do what i did than how to do it."

Cascade and The Deluge are variations on the latest tape-loop and delay composition from the inimitable William Basinski. Cascade is the CD/Digital variant, and The Deluge is the vinyl LP companion. In Cascade, a single ancient lilting piano tape loop repeats endlessly carrying one along in its tessellating current. In The Deluge, the same loop is processed through a series of feedback loops of different lengths, creating a spiraling crescendo of overtones that eventually fades away to silence. In the denouement, a series of limpid piano loops leads to an urgent orchestral theme that builds and gradually dies.

2013 gjorde det hemlighetsfulla Umeåbandet Råd Kjetil Senza Testa (RKST) musik till pjäsen Utbrott som handlade om ett zombieutbrott som spelades på Profilteatern i Umeå. Vi tog kontakt med Mattias för att han är en av Sveriges bästa textförfattare, men också för att vi visste att han tyckte att zombietemat var nåt intressant.Tillsammans spelade de in nytt material och återanvände sånt som inte kom med i pjäsen. Resultat blev skivan Levande Död i Norra Norrland.

Hailing from Toulouse, French trio Signs have already carved themselves out an interesting niche within the nu-skool neuro scene, stamping their unique output into the public's consciousness with big releases on Red Light Records, Bad Taste Recordings and C4C Recordings.
Their beats are sparse and militant with each drum hit afforded the space to dominate the audio spectrum, with pauses and moments of silence, delicately programmed into the DNA of the drum tracks, playing big part in the groove's forward momentum, propelling the riddims forward and creating a dynamically powerful and compelling backbone for the rugged, tough basslines to shine.
The tunes are punctuated with wild Reese fluctuations and sci-fi sound effects reminiscent of the Wormhole-esq techstep from the end of the last century, with dark atmospherics ushering each trackdown the rabbit hole and into the dank, hellishbasements of debauchery that tunes like these call home.
Interzone kicks things off with a clipped, jerky drum beat before a transformers bassline slams into focus in a delightfully rigid yet fluidly modulated fashion.
Percuss starts of life as a Clive Barker horror film before neurotic neuro synth work and tech sound effects combine with a stripped back drum beat to devastating effect.
Back Meat opens with a mournful pad refrain before launching into trademark Signs territory with muted reese bass joining disjointed drum work and high pitched strings.
Vermin is a hyperactive drumstep referencing number peppered with jungalist fills, acid squiggles and experimental IDM tinged flavours that recall some of the more recent work of producers such as Amit and others working at the more exploratory ends of the neuro and techno influenced spectrum.
To wrap up the release, the label boss - Jade joins in for the ride, with an upbeat speed-roller remix of Vermin.

Deep dark industrial ambient. A slowly evolving soundscape with boiling buzzing sounds, resonating through the dark world.The berserk was perhaps one of the world's best fighters, which in Old Norse time sworn allegiance to the Norse god Odin. Before a battle Berserkers excited each other up and occurred in bearskin or wolf skin, hence the word berserk. In the beginning of the battle they performed exceptionally talented, indifferent battlers, but in close combat they fell into berserk. Then they howled like wild beasts, probably to frighten the enemy and incite their comrades and themselves, and then get into rages. A berserk in battle were said not to bother about any injuries, and was therefore until the enemy, or they died.

Sunkissed Records brings you another collection of great Balearic moments, this time from cult indie rockers The Cure. Hugely popular on the early Ibiza scene, The Cure had a number of their tracks that became anthems on the Island after being championed by DJ Alfredo, the man credited with creating the whole Balearic sound with his legendary eclectic sets at Amnesia. First up here is the 12" extended dance-floor friendly mix of the dreamy Lullaby, rarely out of Alfredo's record box. Another of his secret weapons was 1985's mega-rare 'The Blood'. Only ever released as a single in tiny numbers as a promo 7" in Spain, this boasts some fiercely dramatic guitar-work that made it go down a storm on Balearic dancefloors. Over on side B, we have the broodingly magnificent extended dub version of 'Pictures Of You', another classic Amnesia anthem. Plus finally the amazing 'Close To Me', featured here in its most perfect incarnation - the original extended version from 1985, a wonderful echoing maelstrom of wild brass, super-funky bass and claps overlaid with Robert Smith's distinctive vocals. A great collection not be to be missed.

After their release early in 2014 the duo Counterstrike returns to the one of the hardest/finest imprint these days, on PRSPCT.

Instynkt - highly anticipated record released by highly unanticipated duo of two labels Bocian (whose repertoire stretches from freeform noise to improvised jazz) and Recognition (known for state-of-the-art modern techno sound). Four new tracks by Jacek Sienkiewicz appear both as essence and antithesis of artist's earlier work, instead confronting listener with hardly categorisable and puzzling form. You can still manage to hear echoes of electronic music masters (from Autechre to Xenakis) in this material, but Instynkt functions as an autonomous entity, or a sound event provoking questions rather than attempting to answer them. This proposal, very distinct and floating beyond today's tendencies, will undoubtedly worry pessimists shedding their tears over end-of-all-aesthetics and music losing its magical aura. It is also quite likely to awaken a need for further exploration in all listeners open enough - and daring enough.

Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth imprint returns with another split 12' of hybrid UK sounds. Following releases on Space + Time and Soundman Chronicles, Etch brings his junglist sensibilities to Wisdom Teeth - this time slowing tempos to a slow lurch for the sour, paranoid step of 'Toxin'. On the flip, label head K-LONE contributes 'Broke' - a beautifully sculpted percussive workout with a reduced, swinging groove.

Returning to Dispatch Recordings for their second EP on our main label, we're proud to welcome back the ever-evolving duo Gerra & Stone, for 2015, with the 'Unbreakable EP'.

Releasing under the moniker Misanthrop since 2002, Michael Brauninger's music reflects a foreboding sense of darkness, something that has been prevalent in his previous releases with the likes of Critical Recordings, Neosignal and Subtitles. Misanthrop has utilised unfamiliar ways to push the envelope of his twisted, sinister sound for new EP 'I Need More'

The automated refrain on 'Capitalism' reflects the stark coldness of Misanthrop's work, before unleashing an onslaught of off-beat breaks to display Brauninger's deft, often unpredictable production style.

'Rock'n'Roll', a more familiar tear-out drum & bass track, bolstered by pummelling percussive flourishes and flashes of distortion throughout.

Gaining support from the likes of Skrillex, Goldie, Skream, Alix Perez and more, Misanthrop has spent his 13 year career carving a sound that is wholly realised in this latest release. Brutal, uncompromising and inherently forward thinking.

Cleveland's James Donadio aka Prostitutes checks back into Diagonal with the belligerent para-techno boost of 'Ecstasy, Crashing Beats and Fantasy', one year on from the dirtbag 'Shatter and Lose' 10' (DIAG005). Its four gaping cuts follow the red-ticking energy levels of recent outings for Night School, Spectrum Spools and Mira, dissipating heavy drug fug in favour of synapse-sparkingmoto-roil and blistered Hardwave funk — from entry to exit wound. Downtown, 'Crawl In From Broadway' relishes machine rigidity, hammering out workshop percussion latticed with searing acid lines and wry, whining drones to set the 'floor's teeth on edge. 'Dollars To Deutschmarks' walks the walk with leather-bound friction and Linn-style snare crack, fiercely pumped on mutant Mid-West funk.Uptown, there's scant respite to be found in the militant two-note bass and drum momentum of 'Lovers Run Camp Africa', with its menacing vocal stabs and bruxist synth climax. 'Side Effects Of Living' expends shocking electro energy in what might just be Donadio's fiercest dancefloor assault to date.This is pure street terror laced with swerve, and set to indelibly scrawl Prostitutes' name all over the modern mutant underground.

Melding the ambient soundscapes and fractured electronica of late 90's garage with warmly spellbinding melodic incantations and an air of post-millennial unease, I'lls have been quietly winning over a growing league of fans, fellow musicians and tastemakers.

Hailing back to some of their more vocally-centric releases, their newest offering 'Let Me Have Just One', builds patiently before opening up toward the song's climax. One part celestial exploration, one part dark-rave anthem, it's a timely reminder of I'lls' unique ability to create mood-inducing, left-of-centre pop music.

New EP Can I Go With You To Go Back To My Country finds I'lls at their most adventurous and fully formed yet. As its simultaneously naive and convoluted title suggests, the EP's six tracks deal with personal subject matter in indirect and shape-shifting ways. Rote Liebe releases Tim Keiling's new album under his 'Erdbeerschnitzel' moniker. In contrast to his recent dancefloor-oriented EPs on Delsin Records, 'The Attendants' is hovering over more subtle grounds, featuring a mixture of contemporary electronic composition and hazy experimental pieces just outside the dancefloor proper. Rote Liebe is a Cologne-based collective, founded in 2006 with a focus on events in various off-locations and clubs around the city. 2013 marked the launch of the Rote Liebe label with the aim to build a catalogue which features a broad musical spectrum, featuring House, Techno, Broken Beat and Experimental Electronics just as the regular Rote Liebe nights.

This release is exclusively vinyl and infuses elements of 2-step and ambient textures. The selection of tracks have been chosen for their minimalist directions, also as reflections of pastoral. It's been an incredible year for DC Breaks. Igniting 2013 with the huge 'Shaman' the duo have unleashed smasher after smasher. From 'Proton' to 'Let It Go' to 'Swag', a track which enjoyed an impressive nine weeks at Beatport's number one and a total of three months in the top 10! Ending their most high profile, prolific year with an explosive finale, they deliver another mind-blowingly heavy two-tracker. Ladies and gentlemen, Ram Records are proud to present to you: 'Gambino' and 'Burning'.

'Gambino' makes its menacing mission statement clear from the very opening bar. An insistent bass riff hammers its message with staccato glee. Sharp enough to cut through concrete, it's bolstered with a demonic down-pitched vocal and a face-melting build up. A reload-demanding drop follows, turbo charged with heavyweight drums and DC Breaks' trademark brutality. The type of tune no one forgets the first time they felt its impact on the floor, this is outrageously heavy!

Next up: 'Burning'. Ensuring their broad style is repped to full effect, DC Breaks have flipped the switch from swagger to stomp. Its fuse is lit by a series of synths and a rush-riddled vocal before the boys hurl us face-first into a pounding riddim where the bass and kicks wallop in ten-tonne harmony. A high energy stampede that's dynamically arranged with a blissed out drop; there is no better testament to the raw, infectious power of music... Or indeed the talents of DC Breaks.

Alongside fellow members of Berlin's Janus collective, recently behind nights at
Berghain and Corsica Studios, M.E.S.H. is known for his futurist approach to club
dynamics and production.

On Piteous Gate, tightly gridded and sculpted sound juts up against loose-wristed
improvisation, automated processes, and collage. Standard club syncopation is twisted by sliding tempos, cut and paste time signatures, and indeterminate pacing. Its sound design and compositions are ornate, even courtly, with neo- feudal moods offset by the recurrence of hydraulic hiss and flanger.

A synthetic fuel injector revs opener 'Piteous Gate' to life. Drawing from action- scifi film trailers and the sound design of festival trance, its hardcore synthlines shatter into 'Optimate'—stately, spatial, and whiplash-luxurious, with meandering cybernetic drumming. 'Thorium' sends a slow-motion camera through a melting test reactor: all burnt VSTs and synthetic theorbo and loose drums.

'The Black Pill' smears high-end renaissance sample libraries through arcs of static. In 'Epithet,' temple sewer atmospheres are ruptured by 'Scythians'-style cut-up drums. 'Jester's Visage' indulges a minute-long baroque guitar improv, and territorial youths air their beef in 'Kritikal & X.' Closing out the album, 'Methy Imbiß' is a machinic rhythm track, and 'Azov Seepage' mingles birdlike granular noises with rusted steel clanging.

The LP was recorded in Berlin in winter 2015, mastered and cut by Rashad Becker
at D&M, and pressed on 140g LP and CD.

Arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten Most Significant Beat, a "post-industrial" early '90s techno project from former Clock DVA man Maurizio Martinucci and Esplendor Geonetrico's Saverio Evangelista. This surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously CD-only late '90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout - the angular rhythms and Sheffield bleeps of "Geometric State" - for good measure. For the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of Autechre, the spacey techno of Detroit-via-Frankfurt (see "Amy Tekno") and the buzzing intensity of Surgeon.

Crafted between the years 2000-2008, 'Immerse' is a massive selection of some of the finest deep pulsating dark ambient tracks that we have ever heard. Together they create a journey through depth and darkness with a gripping emotional hook that almost stand unprecedented.


This is how Periskop described the advent of these enthralling pieces of music in a recent conversation:
'Immerse' is partly the subtle deep repetitive pulsations of the early dub techno scene and partly the dark ritual emotional/cathartic approach of the industrial soundscape movement of the 80s and 90s. I was compelled to combine the two approaches in a personal space or sound to overcome states of alienation and emptiness. The layer-on-layer compositions are a result of more or less meditative explorations of these states in symbiosis with the music making equipment. Some of the sounds are field recordings and vocals/voices/breathing and some of them are synths and sampled drum machines, but I have tried to blur the line between the two types of sources to avoid too many references to existing music or phenomena from normal human experiences.'
