Bewusst wurde für das 'Lepus"-Projekt kein Sublabel von Haseland installiert. Als Inspiration dienten Labels, die eben durch die Diversität ihrer Veröffentlichungen verwirren, verstören und genau dadurch begeistern.

We are happy to present the next part of the BBK journey release series. Next stop is South Africa. A connection established from their base in Lausanne (Switzerland) the BBK guys Ruben Estevez and Perler have now completed 2 tours of South Africa, touching base with some great artists along their route including fantastic producer Scott Ross and sensational vocalist Ckenz Voca The Layders.


Freakin was originally written and produced by Scott Ross and has had a 2013 BBK makeover, Taking the track to another level with some choppy beats and gorgeous instrumentation, also on the buttons for this project is Alex Attias (Freedom sounds) connecting with Ripperton to provide a feakin sexy, groovy dance floor killer remix.


Both great versions bringing their more urban underground edge to the music whilst demonstrating the ability to fuse with the beautifully fragile vocal melodies.

Chapter 3 of the Dub Tunnel book of dub follows on from the sold-out preliminary releases. This time it's the mighty DanMan on vocals. Best known for his work with Iration Steppas and OBF, DanMan is about to break out really big on the worldwide dub scene with his perfectly crafted roots-reggae vocal tones & conscious lyrics. He is a veteran of the UK & JA Soundsystem movement with a classical reggae voice sits somewhere between Johnny Clarke & U-Roy. Dubble are a production duo based in Zagreb, Croatia and they have mastered the sound & vibes of the UK Soundsystem through their work with Vibronics, Zion Train & Echo Ranks. This release is already a hit on the top Dub Sound systems & is only available as a limited edition.

Two tracks of tough house from this promising young Bristol based producer. This is his second release following his debut on 'Badimup' and he is soon to have a release on the acclaimed 'Soundman Chronicles' run by DJ Parris.
The A-side 'Loveless' marries a bubbling bass line to crisp rim shots and snares; fans of both house and bass music will find something to get excited about here.
The B-side is a collaboration with Hodge who has previously released on Ytivil Donus and Punch Drunk. The track is all skippy drums and a depth charge like bass.

After last year's album 'Love & Devotion' the husband and wife duo of Mike Paradinas and Lara Rix-Martin follow up with 'Weird Drift'. The album shows just how much their ability to write confident and thoughtful pop songs has developed, while still being able to retain the sleepy cushion of steamy synth pop that made the first record so rewarding to listen to. This time album features the vocals of a Vezelay, a.k.a. French singer and producer Matthieu Le Berre, who brings a gentle poised falsetto to the duo's productions along with a delicate but hopeful angst. 'Weird Drift' has a restrained and varied sense of emotional drama, but also a deeper sense of happiness, or at least the sense of becoming happy that was only hinted at on the first record. This can be heard in the breathy vocal harmonies of ballad 'Rain', in the building arpeggios, open guitar chords and skittering, trappish hi-hats of 'Boxes' or 'Lumber's industrial drum tattoo, it's sad chords set against Matthieu's anxious, delay-smothered vocals. The album switches mood with the nostalgic, dewy Rhodes and recorder of 'Liverpool', acting as a brief impressionistic pallet cleanser before the grinning bounce of 'Sultana', which has the kind of melody (and keyboard solo!) not heard from Mike since his collaboration 'Mike and Rich' with Richard 'Aphex Twin' James. Triumph' burns slowly over shimmering arpeggios and sustained bass notes, Vezelay's words softly spelling out scenarios in delicate harmonies. 'Florence' rolls out gentle piano chords and sighing synths while a drum beat smashes out behind them; the dramatic tension between these elements framing Vezelay's meandering falsetto, playing out to their exhilarating strengths.Shoe Soul' wraps old school Detroit techno chords and a wonky fretless bassline around Vezelay's swooning voice to woozy, almost sea-sick effect, and the joyful, frayed sleaze of 'Foghorn' could be taken from an episode of The Sweeney, while 'Amniotic' sounds like galloping trap, treated to a relaxing spa. The album ends of the rather epic note of 'Empires', a quietly confident pop song that builds up slowly over a deep piano bassline and pulsing kicks, filling the space between them with feather-light rolling notes slowly building to an epic crescendo of drums, vocals and strings. Drift deeply and enjoy.

Fire in the hole! Hamilton is back... And he's packing two of his most explosive tracks to date.

Following the runaway success of last year's 'Schema' EP - a release that gave us huge reloads such as 'You Had It' and 'Your Love' - both 'Fire' and 'Be There' raise his bar high than ever before, developing his broad, muscular sound with undiluted creativity and energy.

'Fire' is super-charged with deadly dramatic dynamics. You'll recognise the vocal straight away. What you won't recognise is the matchless levels of intricate texture within the groove; deep layers of drums and bass tones that tear, sneer and snarl throughout. Concentrated darkness abounds, especially during the insane build-up, as Hamilton showcases his ability to balance a rich array of elements while ensuring the message is loud, clear and consistent. Next up: 'Be There'. Already championed by Andy C on his 'Nightlife 6' album, this shows an entirely different side to Hamilton. Nomine's third release on Tempa, following last year's spooked-out Nomine's War, is Enma / Zen Circle / Mindfulness. Containing his most expansive and exploratory music to date, pushing his already intricate and varied sound to new depths of atmosphere and intensity.
As their titles attest, the three tracks here are intense meditations as much as they are club firepower. Drawing equally on his love of UK sound system music and formally experimental composition and sound design, they further highlight Nomine's status as one of the most adventurous new producers operating in electronic music today.Lead track 'Enma' blasts from the tracks in flurries of metallic drums and plucked sino-grime esque melodies, an atmosphere heightened further on 'Zen Circle' whose reedy pipe motifs stalk through the mist like figures through a haunted forest. 'Mindfulness' rounds the EP out with shadowy, delay cloaked digital dub, riding out atop clustered kickdrums and roughly effected drums.

Following a number of quality drone/dark ambient releases on cassette, this is a luminous album, a 40 minutes musical healing cure made up of a complex mix of field recordings, ambient improv and abstract drone. And, of course, the record wouldn't be complete without a tremendous artwork by Romain Barbot to visually complete and complement the album's themes of sexuality and elemental forces.

To be released by Black Sun Empire s Blackout imprint, the album celebrates some of the best work of their career to date, underlining their remarkable pedigree and with it, their ability to fuse darker, hard-edged sounds with genuine dance floor mcredibility. Famed for their rugged basslines, steely percussion and huge, driving synth lines, State Of Mind also showcase different sides to their craftsmanship on Eat The Rich, with a number of vocal features taking centre stage. As well as NZ
rapper PercIEve s appearance on the storming, tear-out anthem Mr. Cover Up, the duo also join forces with promising songstress Sacha Vee on the wonderfully eerie Black Raven; although still bullish in style, it highlights a softer, more thoughtful side to State Of Mind. Heavyweight second single No-Operative is also an album highlight, as are further future dance floor anthems like Where You At and Put It On, as well as two unique collaborations with fellow revered DnB figureheads Black Sun Empire. Another Dark Age captures the schizophrenic culture that exists in one pocket of the underground. This V/A release reaches across oceans and continents to connect music from four obscure projects. From Providence (USA) to Melbourne (Australia), ADA delves deep into the noise and experimental scenes of both cities. Form a Log is a trio of which Ren Schofield (AKA Container) is a member. Their twisted analog improvisations are as disciplined as they are chaotic. 'In the Streets' is a chugging percussive jam that winds its way to-and-fro, between noise and entropy. Phantom Selector, Victim and Carrier are artists who have released diverse music on cassettes under ever-changing monikers. Tortured vocals, eerie textures and cavernous kick drums represent the fleeting moods of these artists who may or may not produce material under these aliases again.

DJ Clent - the low end legend - has been known for his music since the days of Dance Mania, releasing tracks such as 'Bounce' and 'Back Up Off Me' which are juke classics. He also released the grimy call to arms footwork track '3rd Wurle', as well as tracks on both Bangs & Works Compilations. 'Hyper Feet' starts off the EP with a high-speed footwork homage to Mike Dunn's classic 'Magic Feet', replicating the hits and using 303 acid to make a sparse but precision-tooled piece of footwork. Next up, 'Baby Yeah' works a vocal and sax sample into shimmering cut-ups and high-speed rhythmic shapes. On side B 'Clent's Dog Catcher' is a half-speed chop up of the intro to George Clinton's famous 'Atomic Dog', sliced and diced into itchy, slippery shapes. 'Don't Go Down' pits an MPC drum workout of the word "down" against a looped "don't go" sample and a mournful piano line, while 'Don't Leave Me (Baby)' contrasts soul samples with a clipped vocal of of 'Baby C'mon' before the track flips into cascading synths.

Following the great unspooling of 2013's Syndrome Syndrome, Gardland and RVNG Intl. step back into the duo's not-sodistant past with Improvisations, three live performances ripped from local Austrailan radio in early 2012. The aural impetus behind the artists and label joining forces, this triptych of tone lashed tracks captures the duo in exhilarating, uninhibited form.

Anyone who caught Spare's genre-traversing debut 12' for Well Rounded Individuals last year will have marked the talented Notts-based producer as one to watch. After a short release hiatus in which he continued to hone his sound, Spare surfaced again on Coyote's 'Kings', providing the heat with his rough, bass-heavy 'Katana' track. It was one of many highlights on the compilation, and acted as a precursory warning of the deadliness in store for his full Coyote release, the 1BLT EP. Coyote are committed to pushing grime forward sonically, and providing a platform to rising-talents such as Spare plays a big part in achieving that. The 1BLT EP links together four tracks that sit somewhere between the vividly melodic and nuanced instrumentals you might hear  the Boxed lot playing, and some of the classic warpath riddims from grime's nascent movement. 1BLT and Boss Hog feature that up-front, dance-wrecking energy with whirlwinds of hard-as-nails percussion clattering crisply around tough basslines; a pair of unrelenting bangers that take no prisoners. The subtle melodic elements of both are explored more fully on the EP's other two tracks, with Venom and Glide building off thick low-end, and developing colourful, synth-heavy layers that demonstrate Spare's knack for full and rich compositions. The release features all four tracks on 12' vinyl as well as digitally, and is set to usher in a landmark year for both artist and label. With support from: Martelo, Mumdance, Sam Binga, Strict Face, OH91, Slackk and Glacial Sound.

Stray is a producer currently at the top of his game, weather it be his solo work or his collaborations and contributions to the trio Ivy
Lab, his productions are going from strength to strength and he's proving to be one of the most adaptable producers out there.
Following his debut EP 'Matchsticks', Stray comes with the 'Chatterbox' EP on Exit Records in April.
Featuring a similarly versatile selection of tracks from the straight up dancefloor friendly 'Award Tour', the wonky hip hop influenced halftime 'Easy Boy' through to the jungle influenced 'Chatterbox' and smooth laid back sounds of 'Fragile', the EP is picking up a shed load of support from dBridge, Om Unit, Friction, Alix Perez, Machine Drum, Sam Binga, Fracture and many more.

April Cargo Collective Title) I Shall Die Here is the fourth full-length album by The Body. Sharing their moribund vision for I Shall Die Here with Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak), the tried and true sound of The Body is cut to pieces, mutilated by process and re-animated in a spectral state by the newly minted partnership. The Body's brutal musical approach, engraved by drummer Lee Buford's colossal beats and Chip King's mad howl and bass-bladed guitar dirge, becomes something even more terrifying with Krlic's post-mortem ambiences serving as both baseline and outer limit. I Shall Die Here sonically serrates the remains of metal's already unidentifiable corpse and splays it amid tormented voices in shadow.. A handful of precursor releases readied the band for seasoned explorations across their debut self-titled album (Moganano, 2003) and on the widely-acclaimed All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood (At A Loss, 2011). The Body's curtailing of formal classification figured heavily on All the Waters. The album's employment of the Assembly of Light Choir's classical chorales alongside more industrial music techniques such as vocal sampling and drum programming in turn prompted RVNG to inquire with King and Buford which darker corners of the electronic universe they were presumably interested in exploring. The earnestly experimental undertaking of I Shall Die Here is expertly aided by Seth Manchester and Keith Souza, The Body's longstanding engineers and creative collaborators, and noted producer Krlic. Krlic's own work as The Haxan Cloak struck a similarly despairing chord to The Body with last year's celebrated Excavations (Tri Angle, 2013), itself a minimalist evocation of the afterlife. I Shall Die Here shares similar nether space with the morbidly deviating darkness of Excavations, but remains sculpturally frozen in a sort of earthen purgatory. On album opener 'To Carry the Seeds of Death Within Me', a dramatic pause partitions the seismic caterwauling and savage whump of the first half from the ambient, suffocating ripple of the second. From there, the dimensional doom marches on in procession, ceaselessly alternating between shape and shadow. According to the band themselves, they sought to create something wholly experimental with I Shall Die Here. In the course of its creation and recreation, they have attained that rare artistic goal: an album with few precedents and a paradigm shift richly realized. Bobby Krlic's downcast electronic visions laces seamlessly into The Body's already volatile mix of fissured doom metal and fused verbal spaces. The onset of a new music emerges with I Shall Die Here, and in its shifts, shadows, and reeling voices, the darkest possible formulation of electronic music has been realized.

4 years separate the last studio album from the new Conqueror release, entitled "STEMS". Years of important changes within the formation, which returned to a less orchestral line up than in the past, concentrating on the original form of the very first band. In compliance with the novelties, we still find the points on which the band's music has always been based: the self-imposed guildelines "no ready-made rules" and "keep changing constantly the compositional approach". The new album contains eight tracks for a total of over 60 minutes of music. Each song is a glimpse thought from everyday life. The trait d'union of all the songs tells how the passage of time changes the vision of reality undergoing constant change, thus requiring a different way of dealing with situations and relating to them. To relive images in the memory, after visiting places that in the tranquility of the memory will remain forever shrouded in their beauty; to rethink the value of small gestures, which are becoming more meaningful over time and are revived with the nostalgia of those who still seeks in the present.

Dusty Kid's third album is a cinematic experience of almost 2 hours listening conceived as a single piece of music, like a wall of bricks that strictly belong to each other to give the whole album a well defined story.The album, mixed by using few different vintage consoles and recording everything on a reel-to-reel tape in order to get a more alive and lofi result, moves towards a very underground feeling.There are no easy-listening melodies (don't expect in fact any "America" or "Lynchesque", any "Kore" or "Chentu Mizas") but it rather sounds like a saga of dirty, confused, delirious, sometimes bizzare and ridiculous, very dark techno moments.
"III" might remind of a noir-horror-fantasy movie to watch with eyes closed and where the listener is the main character who can play like in a 'shoot-em-up game made of many levels. The sinister calm of the opening, made of the leftfield acid ambient landscapes and industrial noises of the first 4 tracks, preannounces that something is going to happen and leads the listener into a further level of the game where entrance is initially restrained by a man at the door "He Won't Let You In".
Once got through listener is taken onto a further level and enters the "Leather Bears Cinematic Suite".The 5-tracks "suite" is a deep journey into the 90's techno with its first track "Doom" being an almost metallurgical hell as the listener climbs the stairs that will lead him into the main scene. From now on what the listener will see is just what he would expect to see there...the title of the "suite" says it all! "Pandemonium" and "Dark Room" really seem to drive the listener inside a wonderfully painted idea of what's going on in there.
As the listener takes the "Exit 12", that with its lofi and dark mix perfectly describes the feeling after a night spent in the "suite" and echoes of "Flashback" from the previous night still echoing in his confused and distorted mind, the journey goes even more deeply into the 90's techno. "Yota Wave" is in fact a skillfully grotesque recreation of a futuristic techno trance experimentalism of the early Plus-8 records. Level after level listener goes on in the game and while "In The Wood" sounds like a track recorded from the radio with a poor quality cassette, the triad "Prelude"-"Omega Y" and "Omega X" just seems to be a track coming out from another track which comes from another track like in a concentric way."Escape" follows in the same key as the previous triad with a flying ethereal athmosphere followed by a massive tribal anthem as "Idklip" explodes while the listener approaches the final level of the game."Ending", a simple pronounced piano note that lays on a tender carpet of soffused strings and far reverbs leads the listener to the light at the end of this journey.

Shortly after the Dust Under Bridges ep was released, Henri sent us nine tracks which he had previously recorded to tape, not thinking that they were worthy of release. Everyone familiar with Jazz & Milk probably knows about the importance of musical diversity to the label's spirit. However, once you listen closer you will definitely hear the connecting force, a rhythmic and soulful foundation of these 15 tracks. The sum of the album's musical influences lead back to Africa and its long lasting impact on numerous modern music genres throughout the world. A good many times such musical footprints are shining through on this record ranging from Jazz, Funk, Afrobeat, Cumbia, Ethio-Jazz to Hip Hop, deep House and Bass music. While each style is unique, they have a strong rhythmic element in common.


Footprints starts off with the energetic raw sound of Todd Simon & The Angel City All Star Brass Band. Amusingly, the song has been inspired by a culinary experiment, a 50/50 blend of Ethiopian coffee beans from the Sidama region and Colombian beans not too far from Cali. Aiming at translating the experiment's success into a completely different sphere, that of music, Simon combined the traditional sounds of both regions. The track not only features musical prodigy Quantic on the guacharaca (colombian version of the guiro) but also a 'who is who' of LA's music scene. Jazz & Milk label-founder and "Footprints" compiler Dusty delivers a heavy Afro-Funk vibe by remixing the Bad Jazz Troupe, a live project he formed together with his musical soulmate Jerker Kluge. Label artist Sam Irl from Vienna takes us on a journey of raw emotions. On "Time" he fed his MPC with filthy vinyl samples, jazzy rhodes chords, deep basslines and smooth synth-arpeggios - all glued together on top of a driving House beat. The legendary Munich-based formation Karl Hector & The Malcouns (Now-Again) is also contributing to the album's special flavor. "Who's Foolin' Who" was written by JJ Whitefield (producer and guitarist for the Poets of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers) and obviously reflects his affinity for sounds from across the African diaspora. Jerker Kluge and his Deep Jazz Project, more local talent from Munich, is performing a fantastic cover version of Andy Bey's classic "Celestial Blues" with Julia Fehenberger on vocals.

Spring is in the air. The floods are dispersing, Winter is fading and it is, once again, time for our annual Nang "state of the nation" compilation. The Array is now (quite unbelievably) into its fifth year. The Array series is our collection of the past year's highlights, some future classics and a few special surprises. Big names abound with top cuts and remixes from the likes of Daniele Baldelli, Andy Weatherall, Rayko, Hiem, Pete Herbert, Max Essa and a lot more.



First off is a special remix from UK producer Andrew Weatherall who goes for a dance floor excursion on the ever so spicy "Complotto Geometrico" from Italian legend Daniele Baldelli and accomplice DJ Rocca. One of our best sellers in a long time.



Spaniard, Rayko follows up proceedings with his third single from his upcoming "Rebirth" album. A shimmering, synth-laden groover called 'Rusos Theme'. All around nice-chap Pete Herbert is on-board for a fine remix. No to be outdone the Sheffield contingent, Hiem head straight to the floor with their "Freaky Nights" Gemini Brothers remix. Slick bass guitar and locked on grooves.



Slowing down the pace to an interstellar trawl, next up we present a great track from Mexican scene newcomer Je'Couleur. "Space Dancer" is a cosmic, groovy and masterful debut. Next it is off to Manchester for James Bright (one half of chill-out Kings "Lux") who pairs with Melanie "A'int No Use - Sub Sub" Williams to deliver a big vocal house tune with a neat 90's twist.



Cool, slick, smooth Nu-disco is the order of the day with new cuts from new kids on the block Headpocket "Through The Round Window" and JMRS (Halleluiah Men all around). Dublin based Lasertom also checks in with his trademark slowest-of-slo-mo-build-up odysseys "All The Time". Italian Brioski treats us to a new killer track Squadra Volante too.

CHILL HOUSE - Der perfekte Soundtrack für den Sommer

Meet Wen: the 22-year-old production prodigy with his own bass-heavy sound built on a pulsing rhythmic backbone, a nuanced sense of environmental texture and coded vocal samples that interject like pulses. You could call the latter 'signals.' The album begins by building a space, setting the mood; settling into the kind of textures and temperament not often heard since the very earliest 'roots of...' era of dubstep - long before Wen's time. 'It's about bringing things down, creating space - some fresh air, room to breathe,' says Wen. 'Galactic,' resurrected from a corrupted Fruity Loops file on a lost hard drive, is ethereal Blade Runner grime. 'Lunar,' which features Keysound label boss Blackdown, is a Detroit-style night drive through Babylon. Like a breaking storm, the album builds in power and intensity. At almost exactly the mid point - during the bouncy but otherwise warm 4x4 garage relick of 'Swingin'' - the calm is punctured. 'Your neck...' it interjects... 'Your neck should be swingin' brother... ' Often sampled from dense London slang and live pirate radio, these are Wen's heavy signals; weighed down with coded nuance. Power, locale, identity, intent, inequality, sexuality, gender, diversity, energy: all are regular themes of these encoded pirate transmissions. 'When I send out my responses it's stamped with my identity,' explains Wen who recently remixed a classic from grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal. 'The album was a way to show some progression through that identity. It has some calmer, emotive moments but moves into some energy and brightness, taking the temperature down to a darker place but ramping the urgency and tension up towards the end.' Each signal is a like node in a spacious neural network; bursting into the moment only to swiftly retreat, leaving a spectre hanging, shimmering into the spaces between the spaces. 'We be up vampin'... in the spot...spot... spot...' echo's 'Vampin''. It's as if those neurons are firing off an implied silver screen narrative. 'In the spot...' leads you into a hot after hours club scene full of complex, interpersonal power dynamics of those living for the weekend. 'Every night... in my city... every night...' invokes cold night drives; a stolen BMW weaving through lanes of traffic, out running the drag of 9-to-5 monotony until the petrol tank ran dry. 'Girl, I gotta watch my back... because I'm not just any guy,' is the driver's illusionary hubris and neurosis. Is this vivid or is the signal corrupted In the space between the precise vocal node and the abstract cold plane lies just enough imprecision for the brain to backfill with widescreen outcomes. Who, what, where, why Wen. From this inflection point, the album's airwaves are alive with lyrical combat - so much so that certain vocal samples were still so
red raw they had to be edited for wider consumption. 'Time' offers to 'make the average man nervous...' before insisting 'time ain't taking it's toll/all it does is make me more cold.' In an era where the inner city youngers compete against preceding generations for even more deadly reputations, these are the warning signs, plucked out of the ether from an attentive listener and his inner city friend (co-producer on this track, Parris), sitting way out in the margins. So when we hear 'come, let's get lively' and 'we wanna go in...,' the line between suggestion and imperative is lost. We are getting lively and we are 'going in.' And so the album builds, into the dancefloor heater 'Signal,' that riffs and twists the malleable Yard fragment 'sit-nah' into 'signal', a frozen micro moment surgically extracted from one of the most legendary grime sets. As the alarmist grime horns and ruff soca beats build the sense of urgency, the vocal fragment gives way to an encrypted Morse code riff. Body movements can respond to a variety of signals it seems. By the time you hear Wiley actually spitting Wen's name over one of his beats, in the intro to 'Nightcrawlers (devils mix)', this language-dense album is close to reaching both its climax and it's logical conclusion: a full vocal with grime legend Riko. 'Signals were sent out from inner city London to who ever wants to listen, via whichever medium was available...' explains Wen of his past before turning towards the present. 'It only feels right to send something back.' Listen:

These six mossy drone compositions seem to reflect de Tapol's interest in 'climatic' music.
The Brussels-based Aymeric de Tapol is a prolific producer of audio across styles and mediums. His output is dizzyingly diverse - last year's Méridiens Tape was constructed from field recordings made in Senegal, Mali and Istanbul; 2012's Talking With A Dinosaur was a collection of volatile synth experiments; as one quarter of Zoho you'll find him sculpting visceral walls of noise at a show near you. With Winter Dance, however, he's found a sound that's perfectly at home on Vlek.These six mossy drone compositions seem to reflect de Tapol's interest in 'climatic' music: their ingredients are simple but there is a real sense of space and life to them, as if the producer has not created them so much as simply captured them in their natural habitat. Sounds blossom, proliferate and die away, their surfaces cracked and pitted with the everyday detritus of life; even the uncanniest moments have a strangely comforting warmth to them.

"DJ Sliink, springing from the Jersey Club scene, has built an impressive reputation for his contributions to North American dance music. So much so that Vibe Magazine included him on their list of 30 DJ's to watch. His angular, spare take on club music can be described as straight forward, as much as a punch in the face can be described as straight forward anyway.

Elevater Action's cadre of producers and DJ's emerged from the nascent UK Funky scene of 2010, running a monthly event that followed the bleeding edge of that sound as it morphed into the nebulous genre of "Bass Music". The collective hosted DJ Sliink to a packed house in 2012, and have featured a diverse range of artists including HXdb, Distal, Donga, Cosmic Revenge, Prism, and Mike G.

As a label, Elevater Action puts aside ego and theatrics to focus on forward thinking, quality releases for fans of the ever-evolving concept of the sound system. There's no better way of expelling hubris than using their third vinyl release to again showcase artists they respect and admire, this time via two of the best remixes of Elevater Action's own productions.

DJ Sliink's reworking of FBOM's haunting 'Jansen' gives a muscular edge to the original, with crushing bass and a stark intensity that's set to tear up vinyl sets everywhere. A longtime favorite of the EA crew, KingThing reworks Dylan C's fantastic "Invasive Species" into a thumping, slow-burn of uncontrollable gyration. The propulsive, but dark brand of minimalism exhibited by both tracks is primed to ignite the dance floor. "

Renegade Hardware present - Chroma. Formed back in 2011, the Chroma crew crashed onto the scene right from the start, with essential tracks on Hardware, ProgRam, Commercial Suicide, and their very own Coded label. Subsequent releases have blown speakers and minds in equal measure, and now the Newcastle lads are back with the follow up to their Hardware release: Machine which featured on the heavyweight Limber EP.
* Territories lays its stall out early doors, with tight, remorseless drums leading into a dynamic, well-controlled build. The bassline clashes in soon after, and you know you are being set up for something big. That promise is paid off by something huge and unexpected. Chroma bring together everything they've become known for, with pulsating beats, eerie background samples and a driving, energetic arrangement. The low-end morphs, the effects come in and out, and you'll know you're in enemy Territories. As welcome an addition to the Renegade Hardware canon as you could wish for.
* Brain Storm meanwhile creates its atmosphere early on, with overarching synths establishing themselves, as colliding breaks sit waiting to release. Dubby, echoing bass paths are also thrown into the mix, and the drop is mighty. Dirty and grimy are the orders of the day on Brain Storm, as the producers let their imaginations fly and lead them into new areas. They take you deep down into the grubby underworld of drum & bass, with hints of early Icicle vibes.
* Territories/Brain Storm is undoubtedly Chroma's finest work so far, so make sure you are involved right from the get-go. HWARE30 is simply essential.

2nd Drop are very proud to present the next Djrum opus, the widescreen masterpiece that is The Miracle, a three track aural tapestry full of cinematic textures, heart-wrenching beauty and taut dancefloor pressure. Djrum's 3rd suite of original material on 2nd Drop (check his Mountains and Watermark releases) opens with the 15 minute title track, The Miracle, striking out immediately with lush melodic tropes, pulsing technoid flourishes and a killer bassline with a rolling hypnotic beauty, before bleeding into a beatific landscape, packed with echoes of Krush style hip hop and forward thinking drum and bass,

Since his debut in 2009, Loops Haunt has continued to confound and excite with an output as mercurial as it is rare. * Toying with Jungle and Hip Hop on Zenith and outright sound design on Ark, the wilderness-bound beat alchemist uses his isolation to explore and even create his otherworldly sound palate. Lurking behind immaculate drums are the windswept sounds of the desolate North and mechanized textures plucked from his Father's own workshop. Here we embark on Loops' most complete work to date. Exits is designed to be listened to as one continuous track, opening with ambient mood and emotion, layering outboard synths and found-sounds on the title track and Trap Door. An unexpected calm beginning is shattered in the second act with the pounding rhythms and industrial heart beats of Howl and IIVA. Exits is an insight into a uniquely unpredictable talent and rare chance to be immersed in his sound.

Sequencias number 10 should give anyone unfamiliar with the label a good idea of what we're about. * OVERVIEW: Fanu returns to the dark, mystical vibes he has always mastered. In every genre, there are tracks that come and go as well as those that will make an impact on the genre for years to come, paving a new path for more new stylistical innovations. 'Paracosm' falls into the latter category with its massive explosive soundwall of percussion= certainly never heard before in the 170 bpm realm. Regardless of the genre or tempo, Fanu's works have always been exploring the drums and a certain otherworldly atmosphere, and Lightless006 doesn't make an exception, either, as the flipside, catering for the slowfast heads, with its carefully-crafted percussion at 80 bpm and Far East atmospheres also proves. Few artists carry in their works a vibe similar to early Photek, but it can clearly be heard in Fanu tracks, once again. As Do Androids Dance put it: Fanu has done everything from drum & bass to broken beat, but he steps back up for his Lightless imprint to dive head-first into the hypnotic, deep sound of dnb, which is more about intense vibes that insane breakbeats. Fanu can do both, but sometimes you need to just throw on a hoodie and nod your head 'til your neck complains.

Their contribution to the project is 'Paradigms', It's classic Headz flavour in that it's a perfect mix of light and dark. The intro is all about swirling synths, haunting vocals and effected percussion until the reese drops and the landscape quickly changes into a breakbeat accented step and three dimensional EFX.

On the flip, Spearhead Records head honcho Bcee delivers once again with 'Double Take'. Pushing forward his signature sound of lush, rolling and soulful beats this one is well worth checking out! Charming from start to finish.

fragmented library of intermittent sound offs.
Chugging through delicate harmonic sequences laden with hard tinged abrasive discordance, we get introduced into a foray of
whimsically possessed ideas glued together with intent. Sleep Deep, Mountain King broadens any assumptions that an electronica
higher plateau can't be reached without sticking to one tedious and tenacious formula.

Hessle Audio is happy to see the return of Joe to the label, with two tracks of inimitable and curious dance music.

Papik is the now well known project created by Nerio Poggi, Rome based musician, composer, producer and arranger who's been getting a lot of positive response from the international Nu-Jazz /Jazz Lounge scene in the last few years. His first album in 2009, 'Rhythm Of Life', included the song 'Staying For Good', sung by Alan Scaffardi, which was and still is a hit on it's genre. His collaboration with various artists, which includes amongst others Mario Biondi in his album 'Handful of soul' and 'I love you more', brought Nerio to produce in 2011 Ely Bruna's Album 'Remember The Time' and Fred Buccini 'Unusual Nat'. Both are themed Covers projects out on Irma Records that obtained a great International feedback. On his follow up Album 'Music Inside' which came out in 2012, the lead vocals are again by Parma based Alan Scaffardi, now official frontman of the Band, together with Nerio himself and Ely Bruna. Music Inside was also released in Japan where the full Live Band performed at the historic Blue Note in Tokyo for Two Sold Out Concerts.
The first single from the album was Puzzle Of Life, sung by Ely Bruna, already picked by Japanese fashion brand Gallardagallante as music theme for their 2012 campaign. Japan is in fact a territory where Papik is extremely popular and will perform on 6th May at the legendary Tokyo Blue Note. Among the rest of the tracks on the album also three covers 'Family Affair' (Mary J Blige), 'Black & Gold' (Sam Sparro) and 'Raccontami di te' (Bruno Martino). The great appreciation of this cover, originally by Bruno Martino, gave inspiration to Nerio to produce an album entirely dedicated to this great Italian artist and in 2013 he released the project Cocktail Martino with a number of guests sthat were happy to take part in the Project, some of the best Italian singers and Tom Gaebel , a German crooner very popular in Germany . At the same time in 2013, he produced and arranged Matteo Brancaleoni's Album 'New Life', Matteo is one of the most popular Italian crooner , he also went to Produce Neja's 'Neja Vu' , the well known Italian dance singer, that in this new project devotes herself to the more refined sound of Soul Lounge and furthermore another project by an outfit called Mr. Wolf , this particular project is inspired by Nerio's guitarist Alfredo Bochicchio and is projected to a more Adult Rock sound inspired by the West Coast sounds of great Bands like Steely Dan. 2014 will see the release of Papik's third album titled ' Sounds For The Open Road' . Conceived as a collaboration Project and released as a double album divided into two different sections, one of a Jazz reference and a Soul Album with names like : Frank Mc Comb, Sarah Jane Morris , Mark Reilly (Matt Bianco), Tom Gaebel , Fabrizio Bosso , Ely Bruna , Andreas Aleman , Simona Bencini , Wendy D. Lewis, Alan Scaffardi , Walter Ricci, Francesca Gramegna , Dario Daneluz , Frankie Lovecchio , Erika Scherlin . The first single and video released will be 'Special Love' sung by Ely Bruna.

Walrus Ghost's 'Uplifting Themes For The Naysayer' is essentially a conversation between organic sound and artificial design. Immersed in rich textures and the meticulous processing of analog instrumentation, the songs facilitate moments of exchange between tranquil subtleties and abrasive tensions. Trying to focus the mind on nothing else but inebriation and losing contour. Getting lost in a single breath.

Corbu are an electronic, indie-rock band from Brooklyn, New York spearheaded by producer and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Graves.

Corbu are Jonathan, Todd Hoellerman (drums, keys), Amanda Scott (synths, percussion), Julian Ferraldo (guitar, keys) and Brian Murphy (bass, keys).

Named after French architect Le Corbusier, the band has a strong creative aesthetic. Graves writes the music from visual ideas, which he translates into sound. Corbu songs are often heard partially or entirely in dreams, and are influenced by films, physical spaces and a childhood love of nature and science fiction.

And it works. Corbu's music is beautifully crafted, taking the listener on a journey from day to night, through exhilarating sunsoaked sonic landscapes to land softly on the surface of the moon.

Jonathan began singing and playing different instruments at age nine, and eventually fell in love with samplers and their ability to bend conventional sounds into something abstract and new.

Like a dream you don't want to admit, F.A.G. Diarrhea Cult's 'Ashes 2 Ash' is gut wrenching, punchy and frighteningly vague—a dark, minimal collage of canned sound, bleak, unaccommodating lyrics and almost-there grooves. Meet Ashlee, your mother, your sister, the girl next door. Don't listen to what they told you about her. Among gym-whistles, clipped chimes and noisemakers, she sings of an agitated encounter with a dog. In lazy autotune she tells you why you ought to sober up. She thinks you're her brother. For all the EP's DIY irreverence, there is complexity and richness in turn—of vocal phrasing, of rhythm, of language. Ashlee's voice is so nice, but nothing she says is easy. Snatches of coherent melody bloom before an awkwardly delivered lyric or odd synth butts in. And all the while some kinda funk hangs in the back.

A series of vinyl-only remixes of DJ Q's 2013 single Trust Again, by four of the finest young producers around: Rabit debuted last year with the Double Dragon 12" on Glacial Sound (FACT's #13 track of 2013), and was recently picked as one of Dazed & Confused's acts to watch at SXSW 2014. Hallelujah! It's another MISTERIO. This one's a staple tune from a certain Sunday party in an undisclosed borough of New York City. Sure to have people running up and down the aisles.

There's been a discernible buzz about the amount of top-drawer dubstep records already released this year, illustrating the fine health of the sound in 2014. Alongside other torch-bearing imprints such as System, Artikal and Deep Medi, Innamind Recordings has played a notable role in delivering the heaviest beats from a globally dispersed set of talent, with January's joint EP from the Finnish connection LAS and Mikael still fresh in the memory. One of IMR's mainstay artists, Gantz, is obviously in unstoppable form. As well as being ferried about to Russia, UK, Germany, Greece and just about anywhere wanting to hear a real set of soundsystem-rooted originality, he keeps rolling out track after track of mind-blowing material, many of which are deserving of a special place in our collections. With that said, Innamind are hyped to be releasing IMRV009, a fresh Gantz riddim backed with his remix of a track by Bristol's finest, Lurka. The A side, 'Babyface', takes us to the core of why we love this music so much, the kind of internal organ re-arranging bassweight that when it drops on a decent system, you're compelled to turn to a mate and fire off a round of expletives, or simply stand there in shock, getting shaken from your feet upwards. It's got Gantz's sonic fingerprints all over it - drunken rhythms, quaint samples and looping vocals - and this one is sure to go down as one of his best. Flipside, it's hard to listen to Gantz's Refresher remix without a smile on your face, as, absurdly good as it is, its also entertains with a catalogue of sound-byte oddities, including managing to call Lurka out via the medium of a Viktor Vaughn aka MF Doom sample. The original was already a pretty abstract piece, and Gantz cranks it up a notch with skeletal, heavily-effected percussion clattering all over the place above taut sub-bass hits and the properly mangled remnants of a reese synth.

The renowned Nottingham-based DJ, producer and Berkane Sol label founder Geiom, showcases the unpredictability that led him to sign with diverse labels such as Planet Mu, Frisfjo Beats or Skam as he gets things started on a percussive mood with 'I Don't', a subterranean voyage through deconstructed breaks, bouncy bass and vocal chops, followed by the rolling beats and hypnotic low- end of 'Lost Monarch'*. A Coruña native and RBMA alumni Noaipre, one of the rising stars of a new generation of Spanish producers dedicated to appropriating the bass-heavy sounds of the UK underground (as we can hear on his releases for Arkestra and Alexander Nut's, Ho Tep), shifts the EP into second gear with his uniquely hedonistic take on grime, with the noisy, Street Fighter-sampling 'Yoga Fire', and roaring 2-step flex of 'Nitro'.
The Barcelona-based Pacheko channels the frantic changa tuki scene of his native Caracas with a soulful twist on 'Raptor House',further deepening the mood with the mesmerizing synths and tropical flavor of 'Is Like That'*, exhibiting the hybrid take on bass music that has found its way to the the catalogue of labels such as Enchufada, Shockout, Mental Groove and his own Abstraktor. Lisbon native Klipar (also known as one half of the Trouble&Bass-affiliated Zombies For Money duo and co-founder of the brand new Dissipate Records label) closes the EP by aiming straight for the dancefloor with the sub-heavy 808 beats of 'Wanna Take Them Out', before stripping things down and ending on a meditative mood with 'More Bass'.

The first Bangers & Ash transmission of 2014 features remixes of Certain Creatures' collaboration with Ike Yard, "Sparkle", and Best Available Technology's "Bulldozer Rituals". We enlisted friends and like-minded souls to re-assemble these heaving, Ash-laden sonics into new and brutal forms: Samuel Kerridge of Downwards, Jahiliyya Fields of L.I.E.S. and our own Clay Wilson. Late 2011 Russell Haswell recorded 10 tracks of intense, improvised modular synth sessions, for a planned 5" vinyl series
on DOWNWARDS. Chaos oscillators, rave hoovers, and other dynamic, complex waveforms and noise generation were utilised,
abused and sculpted into high resolution, style smashing experiments in sound generation.

The next release on Alter will come from Hackney-based electronic voyager Ralph Cumbers, aka Bass Clef. An expanded double vinyl edition of his acclaimed 2013 cassette Acid Tracts, originally released late last year via Cumbers' own Magic + Dreams label, its seven dense and immersive club tracks comprise his most expansive and multi-faceted work to date. They meld his modular synthesiser's hard-edged tones with grinding drum machine rhythms, traveling from the anarchic techno of 2012's Reeling Skullways album still further outward into the void. Acid Tracts represents the latest stage in the ongoing evolution of Cumbers' music. He first cut his teeth in Bristol mid last decade, crafting scuzzy takes on dubstep with an arsenal of analogue hardware and a trombone - an approach quite distinct from the software-based sub-bass experimentation of his then-contemporaries. In the years since, he's continued to follow a highly individual path, even as he's taken stylistic divergences towards cosmic techno (with Reeling Skullways and its subsequent singles) and the freeflowing improvised modular synth jams released under the Some Truths pseudonym. Acid Tracts is his first Bass Clef release to unite those two strands of his work, drawing the fluidity and instinct-led feel of his Some Truths music into tightly structured club tracks. With punning titles like 'Strings Of Death' and 'Apathy Flash', they play cheeky tribute to Cumbers' personal history and ongoing love of the atmosphere and attitude of rave, acid house and jungle. Throughout Acid Tracts the high-pitched, wriggling tones of his modular reimagine the TB-303's signature acid splatter in crisp hi-def, making for a dazzling and mind-altering listen. For the recording of Acid Tracts, Cumbers hooked his modular synthesiser up to a borrowed MFB Drumcomputer, before laying down the entire record's worth of tracks across the course of a single weekend. "In hindsight I'm not 100% sure how I made some of these tracks, of which noises came from what, of which cables went where, et cetera," he recalls. "I do remember it, though, as a special weekend of total solitude and immersion, with the moon rising high and shining bright into the studio windows." The one exception was 19-minute euphoric epic and album centrepiece 'Lower State Of Unconsciousness', which was originally recorded during the sessions for Reeling Skullways. For Alter's expanded vinyl edition of Acid Tracts, the original limited cassette release's six tracks are joined by an additional track recorded during the same sessions - the taut and drone-laden house of 'Music Sounds Better Without You'. Its full release on vinyl is an appropriate way to open what looks set to be a busy and important year for Cumbers, with this coming spring also seeing upcoming Bass Clef releases through PAN and Public Information, and the promise of future Some Truths material to come

It's been nearly 5 years since Brock's highly acclaimed "White Clouds Drift On And On" debuted on Echospace earning a plethora of critical acclaim including many coveted top albums of the year list from RA to The Wire. Brock returns in beautiful form with what he's said to us is his most personal and self defining moment in his fruitful musical career. This album however strikes on a very different chord from the last, rather than find contentment in repeating himself he's sculpted a unique sound slightly out of focus from his previous work, a sound one could only say is like drifting in and out of consciousness. A place where early lsd experiments reveal third dimensions of the mind and evoke emotions so powerful they haunt you forever. Here we see Brock's true dedication to vision, maturity and growth, the reason why so many people have gravitated to his heart tugging productions. On, "Home' he paints a near 3 hour exploration so beautiful and hypnotic the listener feels as if only moments passed by, a second to forever. This is a welcome return to form in the one place Brock refers to as, "Home" here on Echospace. If Burial were to meet Eno in the studio of a BBC radio workshop session with Tape masters sent to Steve Roach for further deconstruction this might be the unique result, residing somewhere in the ether.

The Death Of Rave's fifth turn presents a lesser-heard aspect of L.A.-based producer, Delroy Edwards. Whilst best known for making bangers steeped in raw Chicago Ghetto-House for L.I.E.S and his own L.A. Club Resource, Delroy's 'Teenage Tapes' LP yields eight trax built with a similarly stripped-down approach, yet with altogether different results owing more to Minimal Wave, Noise, EBM, and Black Metal. Half of the release documents reel-to-reel and guitar pedal experiments recorded to tape while Delroy was at Art College, which he's been saving for the right release. The other half stems from more recent sessions on his SH-101 and drum machine that didn't quite fit in with his pounding DJ tools. Those nascent, freeform Noise pieces range from intense, bilious drones to vicious, combustible little buggers nodding to classic Prurient and The Haters, whereas the improvised, rhythm-driven cuts bear comparison with Liasons Dangereuses' EBM blueprints, the motorik momentum of Wold, and the obscure early '90s tape experiments of Tuning Circuits. Committed to worn-out tape in one-take shots over a number of years, it's all testament to the spirit of febrile spontaneity and disciplined dexterity consistent to Delroy's art, an aesthetic acutely at odds with so much anodyne dance music and manicured noise.

Peter Frohmader alias Nekropolis is a german artist known for his distinct and very dark athmospheric electronic compositions as well as his extreme visual art-projects leading to many exhibitions, films, multimedia-events and collaborations in the field of art and music. In 1981, at age of 23, Peter released his first Lp ''Musik aus dem Schattenreich'' on his own label ''Nekropolis''. At same time he produced a series of 4 tapes called Nekropolis 81 Vol.1-4 which can be found on his comprehensive 2Lp-Release.

Good Stuff House couldn't be more aptly named if they tried. This trio of Scott Tuma along with Zelienople's Matt Christensen and Mike Weis has been conspicuously absent for a while, but this reissue of their untitled debut serves as a reminder of their potency. Americana is a term that gets tossed around often, but in these dusty hollows it gains meaning. Translucent tones hover in empty space, trembling as they hesitantly coalesce. Folk axioms are broken down into dust so they can be woven back into something new, something beautiful.

Gray Hoodie is the debut album from french musician / composer Elise Mélinand. The album, written in Berlin then sequentially recorded throughout various locations in France, was initially inspired by the techniques she was exposed to after being recruited as part of Christina Vantzou's (Kranky / The Dead Texan) Little Prism Ensemble. Her newly adapted recording and composition tool, the laptop, is undeniably the norm today. However, it allowed Mélinand to better visualize her compositions while experimenting with techniques that Gray Hoodie so skillfully showcases. Crafted by Mélinand to tell a story of a friend who gave her a gray hoodie one cold evening. This gray hoodie was a symbol of their friendship and this album is said by Mélinand to be "A way to thank him for everything he gave me". Gray Hoodie showcases Mélinand's childlike voice and legato string work juxtaposed over frenetic experimental beat-work that is injected into ten cinematic vignettes that exude the comfort and warmth of a sweatshirt on a cold day.

In 2014 Hyperdub is 10 years old. Founded by DJ and producer Kode9, the label has grown from its humble origins as a left-field dubstep label, and spread out to function as a cross-genre hub, absorbing sounds and ideas, keeping listeners on their toes, and refreshing itself while still maintaining its core sensibilities. To celebrate, Hyperdub will release four compilations which cluster thematic highlights from the last five years, all augmented with new material, as well as staging a number of international showcase events across the year.
