Radio was first championed by Djs such as Sven Vath and Westbam as well as being a club classic for legendary clubs like Fuse in Belgium. The track blasted its way in to nightclubs around the world despite being made only from 8 sounds of a beaten up plastic radio. In many ways it made Matthew's name, as someone ready to bring real and challenging sounds to the largely synthetic soundscape of club music while being unafraid to make people dance at the same time.

2012 has been a busy year for Bobby Tank; his debut release 'Afterburn' on MofoHifi Records was quickly picked up by Zane Lowe on Radio 1, becoming one of most hyped records on UK specialist radio with over 60 plays across XFM and BBC Radio 1 over a three week period. Since then he has remixed AlunaGeorge, Rudi Zygadlo, DJ Fresh, Niki and the Dove and contributed a track to the upcoming Halo 4 soundtrack album. Tank has also been hitting the live scene with shows at Ibiza Rocks (W.A.R alongside DJ Fresh) and Field Day, to name a few.

Clearly influenced by UK dubstep, glitch-hop and 80s boogie, Bobby Tank's sound is buzzing with nostalgic synths, soulful, blenderized cut-ups, woven leads and atmospherics, thick with heavy bass pressure. The intent is disco, but the delivery method is dubstep.

DFRNT is proud to present his second album 'Fading'. Taking the deep dubstep-tinged sounds of his first album (2009s
'Metafiction') and expanding them in to house, techno, dub and ambient terrirories this is certainly a development of the DFRNT
sound.Following his first album, DFRNT had a string of EP releases, allowing him to explore styles from deep house to drum & bass, from
techno to ambient and beyond. 'Fading' is a conscious step forward in the Scotsman's career and marks his move from dubstep
towards primarily more deep house and dub-techno based sounds.
Clocking in at almost an hour and twenty minutes, DFRNT has opted to provide a strong selection of tracks here. Always conscious
of his presentation, 'Fading' will be available as a 6-panel digipak, with beautiful illustration from Alex himself.

Carving their very own groove in the musical world; Octane & DLR (otherwise known as Chris & Jay) have been amazing us with gre music since 2010 having released on Renegade Hardware, Run DNB, Audio Tactics and of course initially and most regularly on Dispatch Recordings.This extremely talented duo have been beavering away in the studio for the last 12 months (and then some!) compiling an album which is now complete and ready to be unleashed.
Four select tracks in total from the album have been sent to DJ Friction and he's aired all of them on his BBC Radio 1 show to date the lead track from the album sampler release "Murmur" (co-written alongside Break) has now been aired 5 times across 5 different shows (thats a fairly good endorsement right there). The full 17 track collection will be released on CD featuring collab work alongside select artists such Break, Cern and EBK as well a
guest vocalists and MC's Fokus, Kemo, Gusto and Marion. Only selected tracks from the 17 are being pressed to vinyl. The CD format features exclusively hand-drawn artwork from Nate (at Southpaw designs) adorned across its packaging and the CD itself within does contain 3 tracks and interludes that are completely exclusive to the format.

A track from our imminent Jukebox Mambo comp of hot Latin R&B crossover numbers, Percy Mayfield's 'Louisiana' is a typically haunting tribute to the swampy Bayou state of his upbringing, set to an energetic Creole rumba and a cool horn riff. On the flip side, something very interesting, this the original demo version of 'Hit The Road Jack' as sung acapella by Mayfield and submitted to Art Rupe at Specialty records. Specialty was winding down operations at the time but somehow one Ray Charles got wind of the song. Ray had been a long time friend and fan of Mayfield, and obviously heard something in the demo. He opted to record it and the rest falls into history as 'Hit the Road Jack' became one of Ray Charles' biggest ever sellers and perhaps even his signature song. Few people would have realized that the composer was such a talent in his own right, our own Percy Mayfield, 'the poet of the blues'.

To his music have been associated expressions like: pitch-shifted vocal samples, lush melodies, ghostly digi-diva choirs, warm bass melodies, dense and relaxing beatwork ou downtempo and wonky beats. Every single track creates an atmosphere capable to involve those who listen it, not dissuading the horizon provided by the present, but pointing a fresh and bright direction even though it is far from the sea. Each theme is composed by tiny sound particles, in which rhytmic layers are worked to - sequentially - build the space, as does the body of a dancer, alone and naked, having the world as stage. Taken together, portray appeals from the unconscious, integrating them under a loop matrix of sound that does not foreshadows the existence of a nightmare. Wrong is Quentin Dupieux's new movie, the director most known under his musical alias, Mr Oizo. During summer 2011, while he was wrapping the movie, he started as usual to compose its score. He then had the idea to fulfill it with four hands, with David Sztanke aka Tahiti Boy, a French eclectic pop artist recently met on Twitter. Indeed, Mr Oizo, in a typical extravagant generous gesture, offered through the social network three mythic beat machines, including a TR-808 for which Tahiti Boy (among others) showed great interest. Tahiti Boy seemed to be the most suitable to use it with relevance, and the two artists became friends on this occasion. Mr Oizo then had the idea to entrust Tahiti with the completion of Wrong's score. Settled in Quentin's parisian apartment turned into a studio, David resumed the few compositions already directed by Quentin, and finished and completed them with others (on which he sometimes used the famous TR-808).Supervised by Dupieux, who approved or disapproved the proposition in a clear-cut manner, the work progressed fast and fluently.Then, by the end of the year, the two artists reunited to adapt and shape the compositions in an album format, that you now have in your hands.After 'Steak' and 'Rubber", this is the third score from a Quentin Dupieux movie to be released on Ed Banger, and we found the particular atmosphere the first one already had ; in the same time modernist, iconoclast and crossed by winks to the big tradition of Original Soundtracks made in France in the 60s and 70s.

Kromestar(UK) who is a pioneer in the Dubstep electronic Scene, who is extremely respected worldwide and amongst the soundsystem culture. Die größte Neuerung stellen die Synthesizer dar, die kosmische und sphärische Formen in nahezu jedem Track hinterlassen, zusätzlich zu den immer noch schneidenden Gitarrenriffs, dem taumelndem Bass, den steinigen Schlagzeugrumpeleien und Kevins einzigartiger Art zu Singen. Mit "Lonerism" machen Tame Impala den verdienten und konsequenten Quantensprung nach Vorne auf dem Weg, auf den sie sich mit "Innerspeaker" begeben haben.

Ill Haze

ILL HAZE is made up of co-producers Ill Phil and Whitehaze from Chelmsford, Essex. The pair has 15 years of production and DJing experience between them and they intend that number to keep growing. White Haze has worked and deejayed for Intense Records for the last 5 years, which has seen him play out regularly at some of the biggest events in London & Essex. Ill Phil has been locked in the studio mastering his production techniques, he is soon to be let out to meet his ever growing fan base...



The duo has crashed onto the dancefloor with a sound that is truly unique to them. Using a combination of different software packages and techniques they are creating sounds that are really turning heads.



While pushing out to all avenues of drum and bass they are starting to mould their own sound within the genre but still keeping it fresh and current. With a load of releases set for this year and beyond ILL HAZE is definitely a name to watch out for!

The sharp techie beats and monstrous basslines blend together to make a unique mix that is guaranteed to get the heart's pumping and the bodies moving. Straight from the edge the dark synths and delayed effects create an eerie atmosphere that builds up until the bats start screaming. As the meaty drop opens up the building doesn't stop there, it twists and turns and keeps up the pace the whole way though. With a mixture of jump up and techie styles all rolled into one tune there's something in there for everyone! Grab it while it's hot!





Ozma -Bio

Ozma (Rudoy Anton) was born in 1990 in Russia (Saint-Petersburg). He began his creative activity in 2005 with techno music. Soon enough with accents aside he found Drum 'n 'Bass. At the very beginning of 2006 he closely mastered FL Studio and started to write Drum and Bass.

Ozma is mainly a new age jump up producer whose tracks have had play in Russia and all over the globe. He is a frequent visitor on English radio shows like BBC Radio1, BBC 1xtra, Kool FM etc whilst in his home country playing on Radio Saint-Petersbrug. His production skills have led him to play at some of the Biggest Russian Festivals, The World of Drum and Bass (Moscow) and First Open Air (Moscow).



At present he has a considerable amount of tracks out in Russia on cd compilations. In the beginning of June 2008 he released a debut, solo album "Nu Skool" on the label "Audio Boutique". In 2009 he had his debut dubplate on the label Subfuzion Records and the trace solo EP "Bang" on Deadly Records. At the end of 2010 Ozma had another vinyl release of "Phantoma" on Fatman D's label "Biological Beats", the release remained in the top three for months of the most sold charts. In the beginning of 2011 Ozma was nominated in the category "DJ break of year" in the Russian version of the DNBAWARDS. Since then Ozma has been signed to a selection of labels including Nightwalker Presents, Subfuzion Records, G-13 Records, Dirty Digital, Junction 11, Bubble Gum Records, Audio Boutique and now Intense Recordings.

Waves on Canvas is the brainchild of Italian composer Stefano Guzzetti. 'Angel' is the debut single and features the vocal talents of Louise Rutkowski (This Mortal Coil) who delivers a beautiful haunting vocal that compliments Guzzetti's orchestral backdrop.
The b side is remixed by John Fryer (The Hope Blister) who provides a lush dubbed out remix. Airhead continues to impress and confound with his run of releases on R&S. His last release 'Wait/South Congress' found itself gaining praise right across the board. It showcased his atmospheric guitar styles as well as his deft programming skills, resulting in some trying to pigeon-hole his sound in a post rock/electronica direction. This EP proves it not that easy to pin him down with two new tracks of fresh club music. Pyramid Lake again showcases his expert manipulation of samples, but this time weaves them into a drunken dance groove, full of whirring percussion and heavy bass. Black Ink is a bubbling, percussive roller that in the hands of a lesser producer would sound like a traincrash. Basic Soul Unit has been a fixture on Toronto's techno scene for the best part of the last decade, with releases on Mathematics,Crème Organization and Mule Electronic, while Skudge have made their name with a unique sound and an independent approach which has seen most of their material released through their own imprint. Audio Phreaks new Signing Archie Cane has been causing some seriously big waves on the Dubstep circuit of late and when you hear his music, you'll understand exactly why. Last years TBG01 was charted by german DJane Ellen Allien and broadcasted by Gilles Peterson of BBC-International fame - amongst others. The second installment (with the slightly confusing catalog-number TBG04) changes its appearance from 'white-label 12 in a black & white gatefold cover' to 'heavy white vinyl in a multicolored disco-sleeve". The label's patron Arthur Boto Conley showcases the work of obscure 1980s producer Clifford Trunk. The lo-fi dance and ambient tracks origin from a tape which was hand to Conley by Trunk during a brief encounter at Düsseldorf's 'Ratinger Hof' in 1986. Depicted on the cover you can see Italian designer Ettore Sottsass' work for the fashion company Esprit's european headquarter which opened up the same year. Clifford Trunk was working for the Sottsass Associati from 1982 on and had a leisure time obsession for drum-computers and sample synths. What a serendipity! - Limited to 333 records.

James Clements / ASC is the kind of artist you come across rarely. His music is uncategorizable, constantly innovative and selfishly
confident, reveling in it's unashamed originality. There is no real genre this album sits comfortably with, in fact it stands firm as the
creator of a yet to be named new genre. This sound has taken what was 'Autonomic' and developed it into a sprawling, fluid,
kaleidoscope of textures and patterns that can not be compared to anyone operating in electronic music today. How many artists can
you say that about While compiling this album, James and I have gone through 3 or 4 drafts, mainly because there is so much
amazing music it has been next to impossible to refuse all of it space on the album. But what we have ended up with is my favorite
electronic album of the last few years at least. Having most of the tunes for over 6 months, they are still the most repeated tunes in
my playlist even now and I don't see an end to that coming any time soon. Now it is time to turn 'Out Of Sync' into a product and
release it to the world. There is a sense of loss as well as the excitement I have for the rest of the planet to hear it, but mostly a great
feeling of pride that I was able to share this project and experience with a visionary artist who is truly at the peak of his creative
power. To my ears, 'Out Of Sync' is afaultless work of truly original and deeply powerful music that will stand the test of time. I hope

It has been five years since DJ Distance first released the inaugural effort of his Chestplate Records imprint, a label that over the years has consistently delivered only the finest cuts of bass pressure from Distance himself and the talented Chestplate collective. As a follow up last year's Meanstreak EP, and to mark the 20th Chestplate release, Distance returns to the fray with a double A side 12' featuring two fresh tracks that have been damaging sound systems worldwide in his sets, combining superior sub bass architecture with vivid soundscapes in Distance's own inimitable style. The A side sees a track released that Distance has kept on lock down, only giving it a track name just recently, and a beat that has generated a fevered hype throughout the dubstep community. 6 years ago, Misanthrop & Aqua Luminus III. released the "Leinwand EP" on Audiac Records (an early subdivision of Equinox Records) as a 10inch picture disc. With their new collaborative offering, under the self-explanatory title "6 Years Later EP", the two producers combine once again.The formula for their music has stayed the same: heavy beats, alongside raw cuts and samples blended together to create another banging electronic Hip-Hop release. However, it also offers some surprising new sounds as well as astonishing guest features: Underground hip hop legend 2Mex (Visionaries, SonGodSons), Fake Four's very own Ceschi and UK rapper James P Honey provide superb lyrics and flows on "20 Stories Later", the only non-instrumental track on the release. Additionally, the German turntablism legend DJ Stylewarz is cutting on "The 1 Billion Euro Song" alongside Munich's DJ icon Al Rock. Another skillful and mightily talented turntablist, SNTC, provides the scratching on "57 Bars Ahead".
The "6 Years Later EP" features six tracks as well as two bonus tracks on the digital release. A definite sureshot in every record collection, refined with a fresh cover provided by The Raincoatman, the EP is released on July 20 as a limited edition 10inch.

Varsavia tells a poetic story about Warsaw in it's cold days. With the beautiful melancholic vocals of Emanuele Barison and the wonderful dark and heroic synths composition by Paolo Piuzzi this track takes you on a sentimental fairy tale. 1000 VINYL FOR THE WORLD! Unreleased Autechre album from 1991, regarded as a holy grail of a record.

This recording contains 7 remixes by Mark Fell of the first three 12' singles released on the record label Sensate Focus in 2012. These were called '10', '5' and '3.3...'. The first of these, '10', was itself a reworking of materials from an earlier project by Fell and Terre Thaemlitz, released on Comatonse Recordings in 2012. The 7 remixes were written and recorded in June 2012 at the Upper Lounge, Chatham Street (UK) using a MacBook Pro running Digital Performer, FM8 (featuring manipulated DX100 and TX81Z presets), Battery and Razor; monitored and mixed with Sennheiser HD 25 headphones. Here hand claps are constructed from the Roland TR707 clap, two copies of which are detuned and panned hard left and right, with an additional Yamaha RX11 Clap 2 panned centrally; kick drums have been constructed with the Roland TR707 Kick 1 pitched up with bass content attenuated, overdubbed with samples from vinyl derived, it is assumed, from the Roland TR909. Two hi hats are used: the Yamaha RX11 Closed Hat 1, and a sample from Bassmental's '2 Daye Revisit (Kerri Chandler remix)', released on Nite Grooves, 1994. Recommended contextual materials include: 'Can You Feel It (Dubby Dub Marc Kinchen remix)' by Chez Damier, released on KMS, 1992; 'Hard To Get' by Choo Ables, released on E-SA records, 1993.
Additional DJ notes for playback synchronisation: Track 1 has a tempo of 137 beats per minute with a rhythmic loop of 30 units each lasting 109.49 milliseconds. Track 2, 126 bpm with 31 units each lasting 119.05ms. Track 3, 113 bpm with 17 units each lasting 88.5ms. Track 4, 128 bpm with 60 units each lasting 117.19ms, with inserted pauses of between 4 and 80 units. Track 5, 128 bpm with 16 units each lasting 117.19ms. Track 6, 128 bpm with 64 units each lasting 117.19ms. Track 7, 125 bpm with 31 units each lasting 120ms.

William Bennett - founder and sole constant member of Whitehouse - earned considerable acclaim for his reincarnation last year
as Cut Hands and the release of the album Afro Noise Vol.1. His sophomore full-length in this guise, Black Mamba, is due out
on Susan Lawly in Autumn; to herald its arrival, Blackest Ever Black is releasing it's thunderous title track as a 12" maxi single.

On the A-side Africa's deadliest, most beautiful snake breeds with insane, vaudou-obsessive polyrhythms to give birth to
the monstrous, consuming, convulsive 'Black Mamba' - without doubt the most potent manifestation of Cut Hands' malign
energy yet. On the flip: 'Krokodilo Theme', an extraordinarily pensive, heart-rending piece first aired on the soundtrack of
last year's Siberia: Krokodil Tears documentary.

From the Horizon' is Débruit's debut album. It is the culmination of 3 years work, collecting field recordings, delving into restricted archives, sampling lost African VHS and reinterpreting discovered African melodies and rhythms, for synths and drum machines.This is a remarkable record, filled with groundbreaking combinations of style and sound, constructed with passion and energy, driven by adventure and ideological principle and packed with intrigue, authenticity and tribute. Perhaps even more importantly this record is fun, and never does its depth displace its energy, groove or feel.Inspired by Western African music past and present Débruit splices the musical roots and subsequent evolutionary patterns of Benin, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria and beyond. He set out to harness the creativity and rawness of the music, from tribal beginnings through to 70's highlife and psychedelic afro funk. Despite the clear inspiration, his challenge was not to emulate but to incorporate, to fuse the musical expressions of the many different cultures and eras with those of his own, to create something new and unheard.
Débruit's genre swerving approach to making music has always been unrestricted and on 'From the Horizon' he has deliberately created truly original pieces with unique combinations of instrumentation and style, in such a way that they feel natural, expected and time honoured. For example on 'Afro-Booty Musique' where traditional drums form a booty Chicago house structure and combined with talk box and guitar, or on 'Mega Wagna' where funk leads and syncopated vocals are coupled with Gnawa music (a mixture of sub-Saharan African and Berber songs, where one phrase or a few lines are repeated over and over and songs can last for hours.) Such diverse combinations can be heard throughout the record as can the influence of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and Benin whose advanced drum patterns are combined with Débruit's bump-hop beats and low-slung bounce. These African influences run concurrently with the ever present ideals of Hip Hop. Its openness to other musical styles via sampling can be consistently identified, never more so than in 'Cuivree' where African TV samples are crossed with lo-fi horns and 808 percussion or on Rêve Du Niger where an early recording of a throat singing child from Niger is looped, layered, re-sampled.Tribal rhythms and looping vocal samples appear in many guises, through the rattling high hats and sub bass of sonically flamboyant party starter 'Akoula', amongst the haunting, distant synth scape setting of 'Ouest Wind's Seagulls' or in the epic closing piece 'The Day I Lost My Funk', where African instrumentation pre-empts a climaxing finale of deep electronic bass and 808 kicks.
This stunning debut deserves repeat listens and much contemplation. Indulging in its many dimensions is continually rewarding. Its true excellence is in the effortless enjoyment that it provides, engaging listeners on many levels, without its depth ever becoming a barrier, providing pleasure for all, from the casual listener through to the seasoned ethnomusicologist or surrealist philosopher.

On the A side we have a track from 2 guys who surely need no introduction! Here they both inject some real soul into the intro right
from the word go on "Lastik" and its done in such a way that takes us back to Dillinja's early soulful offerings on Deadly vinyl / Logic
productions back in the early 90's, the track then progresses on and kicks into a cut-throat and insanely well produced drum & low
end work out. If this number doesn't make your head nod vigorously surely nothing will!
On the AA side Halogenix; quickly after appearing on Dispatch with his superb track 'Laika' jumps on Dispatch's sister label Dispatch
LTD with another blinder in the form of "Raya"; its a very technical rolling bit of production with a dash of oriental soundscapes
thrown into the mix to give the track an eerie feel before slamming in on the drop some pure reecy sub warmth and insanely tight
drums.

The Bank is a trio comprising of Francesco Brini, Domenico Loparco and Emanuele Zullo. Seriously good musician's with a love of afro & dub. These guys tour the world as the backing band for the acclaimed American singer / songwriter Jeff Jones. Brini has already built up an impressive catalogue of music himself, recording as Frank Agrario for Prins Thomas's Internasjonal and also as a drummer for electronic pioneers Swayzak.
After a heavy storm broke around Jeff's Lake Tahoe hideout, it was soon clear that they wouldn't be hitting the road anytime soon. This was a key moment in the construction of The Bank! They spent the time researching, sketching out ideas and extracting every last piece of funk from their fingers and thumbs.The Bank is drenched in vintage recording techniques but with an updated production that can satisfy any dance floor. 'Lagos Tahoe' sounds like Peter King jamming with Titanic but produced by The Bank. 'City Of The Dead' touches the dub switch with a polite ska rhythm that calls on hypnotic vocals which remind us of 80's band Maximum Joy. The Snatch' & 'Chic Disco' are like funk bullets bouncing off the streets of Manhattan, 'Zombie Nation' has a punky sharp synth bass that cuts through like a diamond encrusted blade. 'Fishsticks' is the low slung funk bomb which would make Donald Byrd proud.
All together these new Bearfunk signings have made a very raw undiluted album. They are custodians of their own sound which is heavily influenced by their influences. It's time to cash that cheque at The Bank!

Be The Music' and 'Nervous Energy' eschew Scruff's cheeky sampling of yore and put rock hard rhythms built up into driving polyrhythmic dancefloor mania. 'Be The Music' combines them with a kind of digidubbed b-line, while 'Nervous Energy' is built round a classic funk riff played as all-over body-wobble. The results in both cases are hypnotic, powerful, and hugely danceable.
