ASC & Sam KDC's formidable partnership continues with a pair of tracks that came to fruition before the Decayed Society concept was born. 170 bpm is the order of the day here, as the pair intertwine their trademark sounds with each other and forge a pair of unique IDM/electronica tracks for the second white label outing on Auxiliary. Since February's Ekoplekz EP, Public Information have been toiling behind closed doors, the cold Spring rain outside, working to bring you new voices, new sounds for the six-months ahead and beyond.

Genetix are back with a 3 track EP that is in your face, signature Genetix business! Data Transfer has received support from Inspector Dubplate, Hatcha and N-Type to name and few. Resistance and Fusion are a little different to what you would expect from Genetix, but production value is on another level. Really clean and punchy and those subs will make your jeans shake!

Soap Dodgers long awaited Unleashed EP, featuring tracks battered by N-Type Youngsta, Hatcha, Dismantle, MistaJam and Tubby Newham Generals.Unleashed: Unleash the beast! Skanking dark half stepper with the energy to match any tear out tune. Bassline is raw and twisted, dark and industrial. This track is thick with sub, but spacious following the code of the original dubstep sound.Waterlanding: This track was championed by Youngsta late last year. Future dub technologies, skanking reggae dub style with a 2012 twisted bass and 808s.Strobes: Catering for the more jump up side, this is the lighter side of the E.P, as its title suggests, rave driven glitchy, hard and furious. SOM Music reaches its 20th release, and to celebrate State of Mind have remixed SOM Music's 001 release, 'Deadzone'. Undeniably massive, this remix has been tearing it up all over the world! A favorite with top tier DJ's such as Black Sun Empire, Optiv & BTK, Upbeats, Jade, Loadstar and more. The flip features American talent Zardonic's take on the old State of Mind classic 'The Jackal'. All balls, this remix takes no prisoners and is not to be missed!

As a prelude to his second album for Hyperdub, due in September, 'Dark Crawler' sees Terror Danjah drop punchy, manic beats and claustrophobic stabs on this bloodthirsty grime banger, with grime's original London Warlord Riko Dan spitting patois menace of the kind that might make MI5 raise their terrorist threat levels. On the B side is the bubbler 'Fruit Punch', Terror's energetic, 8bar take on funky, which - by contrast - adds some fun to the militant proceedings. With a tight, rolling drum tattoo tearing across the mix, and a tropical melody sharing space with a bulldozer of sub-bass, it's a case of opposites attract.

Trevino is the alter-ego of Marcus Intalex. The Discovery brings a variety of styles to this one EP and paves the way for a return of Soulr's sister label 'Revove:r'. Plays from Scuba, Loefah, Martyn, 2562, Appleblim, Paul Woolford, DJ Pete, etc.

Blah Blah Blah are having a bit of a break through year with sets at Glade & EXIT Festival confirmed, and their labels most recent release from Blacksmif gathering support from a number of respected sources, among which Disclosure, South London Ordnance, BrEaCh, Mary Anne Hobbs, Laurent Garnier, Audiojack, XLR8R, and Beatportal can now be considered keen listeners. Their 5th release looks set to further establish the labels growing reputation with 2 tracks of deep techno inspired house from 17 yr old music enthusiast Alfie. Born in the village of Oxted, home to a number of electronic dignitaries, Alfie has been raised on a balanced diet of Garage, Dubstep, Jungle, DNB, and Hip Hop which he has further infused with his personal love for old school Ska and Jazz. Taking key elements from each of these styles Alfies music is deftly relevant in your ear and on the floor. Lead track Uncomfortably Numb is a high energy throbbing slice of techno laced deep house, with a reverberating bassline driving an almost industrial main hook, whilst layers of clinical percussion and pads snap and swirl throughout the mix. About Midday punches through the enveloping gloom with an inescapable rave inspired main hook which intensifies the tracks pulsating wall of manufactured sounds. Having already played at Fabric aged 16 and with a number of shows pencilled for 2012, including his Glade debut and Eastern Electrics festival, this double a-side is set to eclipse the work of a number of his more senior peers.

'Knights EP' invites the intrepid listener to experience Babe, Terror's deepest visions to date - 34 minutes of raw primitive drum machine beats colliding with a wild-collage of samples, hymnal vocal chants, swooning reversed guitars slathered in hiss, and slurring keyboards... Collecting and joining sounds together with no pretentions, BT plays with his voice, fx pedals and presets until he arrives at a place full of trippy forms, spectres and creatures - a decompositive micro-symphony. After last year's very popular and widely acclaimed album 'Severant', Kuedo returns with this emotionally epic, dancefloor detonator of a track originating from the same sessions. 'Work, Live & Sleep In Collapsing Space' starts with huge symphonic synths, half-speed kicks, trap style hi-hats rushes and flammed 808 snares, slowly building up with giant whooshes of gaseous noise before breaking out into an intense trancey Moroder-esque synth that totally fills the track, making it sound absolutely vast and a little bit frightening, running it through effects to give it an aggressive, spacey rush that takes your breath away. It's the sort of track that connects Kuedo's past to the newer music he made on 'Severant', with a fierce emotive grace and intense power. First up on the remixes, Laurel Halo takes the track apart, adding sutured strings and bubbling sounds inside a pressurised dub space, before dropping a gorgeous, bittersweet melody into the space that's left. It's an appropriate re-imagining of the title, almost aching and groaning under its own pressure. Next, Claude Speed re-interprets the track as a beatless evocation of space, building graceful warm strings into a vision of symphonic beauty before the whole piece coalesces into building trancey bass synths over racing live drums, mirroring the original version but taking it in a totally different but equally breathtaking direction.

London's Stillcold Records return with 'TMRW' / 'No New Jack' from Berlin operator and Lazer Sword member Lando Kal. With 'TMRW', it's all about a deceptive simplicity, driven by soulful, spacious chords, the most buoyant of sub basslines, and fine, effortless vocal edits. This is one of those grooves that will latch onto bodies with the swiftness and exudes all the confidence of a producer hitting his stride. On the flip, 'No New Jack' is a serious call to the more rugged jackers. Maniacal laughter paves way for tough, saturated stabs and a hook that's seen chants flying across dancefloors from Berghain to London. Over the years Scott Fraser has recorded and remixed for Emissions Audio Output, Black Nation, Wave Tech, Relish, Rush Hour and World Unknown to name but a few. His latest home is Bird Scarer for whom he has recorded 9 minutes of low slung Machine Funk loveliness (as featured on Mr Weatherall's recent "Masterpiece" mix set).
The B side comes courtesy of a remix by Mr Fairplay who more than reaches the high quality control he always sets himself.

Varying in styles on an overall contemporary bass theme, the debut release from the fantastically-named Surely Bassy Records comes in the form of a four track EP featuring four new producers. The first track is provided by London based producer Glentron. 'Cast a Light' sets the tone, with shuffling drums, chopped vocal harmonies and soothing bass line, exploring similar minimalist garage ground and in equally effective fashion as the mighty Spatial. Mepham takes it deeper with his contribution, 'Shack'; a haunting soundscape of atmospheric delayed techno with pounding bass, eerie sampling and progressive undertone, riding an emphasised stepper rhythm. Isaac Martin delivers a more experimental house edge with his track, 'A New Dawn (Oh Baby)'. It's driving 2-step beat and warm jets of rising melodic synth are sure to drive the dancefloor, while propulsive sub and soundsystem / deejay effects add extra flavoursome punch. Leeds based A. Ashdown closes the EP with his deep and melancholy drift through gallic themes on the shuffling, Clubroot-esque 'Stems'. So far these tracks have been received well by DJs and producers, with Glentron's 'Cast a Light' featured at number two in Dom Servini's Allo Love Ten chart for November, and the release has been gaining radio play on London's Colourful Radio and Sub FM, as well as plenty of club play across the country. With several more equally high grade questing releases in the can, Surely Bassy is definitely a label to listen out for in 2011.

Having gained an army of loyal supporters and radio play from DJs as diverse as Huey Morgan, Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles over the last 18 months, brass juggernaut Hackney Colliery Band deliver the first taste of what to expect from their second album for Wah Wah 45s, due for release in early 2013.

French electro swing master Minimatic joins Resense with two fun bringing joints.

Peter Visti comes back to the fold with his second album on Bearfunk, entitled 'Illusions In A Twisted Mind.' Peter, born and bred in Denmark earn't his stripes in the late 80's and early 90's as a DJ, Producer and Club Promoter at the cooler venues around Europe, spreading his unique brand of weird Disco and Balearic love the world over - From Tokyo, to London, via New York and Barcelona.

The Time And Space Machine, aka Richard Norris, is straight out the gates following his acclaimed 'Taste The Lazer' album, with a second single off that album titled 'Good Morning'. This summery double A side comes armed with stunning accompaniments from Leftside Wobble, Saint Etienne and Coyote.
The original is a super-chilled wake up call to all things psyche and beautiful. Shimmering guitar tones, breathing string phrases and a slo-mo beat fully encapsulate the sense and meaning of the lyrics.
On the flip we're served up some cracking remixes. Leftside Wobble's offering doesn't disappoint with its strong rhythm section and unique take on the original theme. Saint Etienne's mix goes a little more mysterious, with looping, convoluted elements coming together momentarily for dancefloor ecstasy before bumping back down to the steady momentum Finally, Coyote brings a new edge to the T&SM package with their laidback adaptation, fusing spacey bongo patterns with a bumping synth bassline.

3 tracks dipped in the label heads usual otherness lacing rhythm, and soundscapes that move the mind & feet. All 3 take an open ended approach while being held together with AYBEE's affinity for deep rhythmic travels.

wo tracks of epic proportions for the 2nd full release from DjRUM on 2nd Drop. Clocking in at an immense 18 mins, it should really be EP or mini album, yet these monster tracks are two glowing paragon's of bass music. The opening track from DjRUM's outstanding mix for Mary Anne Hobbs back in early Sept 2011, Watermark begins with a wonderful flourish of harp arpeggios and obscure movie samples before dropping into a dubbed out techno pulse. Replete with Djrum's trademark ambience and decaying sound palate, Watermark is both soft and delicate, whilst powerful and robust. It's no surprise that he can count T++, Craig Richards (Tyrant), Gilles Peterson and Scuba as fans. On the flip, The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn (Undercoat pt.2) is the final instalment of the Mountains EP released in Aug 2011. Phonica Records inaugurate a new series of releases that will fall under the 'Special Editions' banner; a series that will feature collaborations, one-off releases and anything that doesn't fit into the main labels' outlook. The first release comes from Sinkane, a hotly tipped new artist from NY.

Sinkane is the project of Sudanese-born musician Ahmed Gallab. Gallab cut his own teeth as a youngster in the punk DIY landscape of middle America, and then found himself touring far and wide as a member of Yeasayer, Caribou, Eleanor Friedberger, Born Ruffians, and Of Montreal. He has emerged from it all as Sinkane, a project that identifies a renaissance within the space and spirit of the outposts of contemporary music. With an aesthetic range seamlessly shifting from soul to rock, and from jazz to pop, Sinkane's vibe is timeless and the sound is now.

Runnin' is a song taken from a collection of songs simply titled Mars. On this limited edition 12" from London's Phonica Records, the album version of Runnin' is re-imagined as an increasingly dense longburn club jam by Daphni (Dan Snaith of Caribou fame) and as a more angular headjam by Chandeliers of Chicago.

Macabre Unit Vinyl touches down for its second offering on wax, following up DCult and Biome's first plate earlier in the year with 2 tunes from the combo of the irrepressible Biome, and MUD/MUV head-honcho and Macabre veteran Demon.
A Side 'Incubus', catches you by surprise. It's not quite what you expect from this pairing, but certainly does the job. Haunting eastern vocals rise from the intro, building the atmosphere and intensity before the drop smashes you in the jaw. Long low slung bass notes rise into aggressive snarls, brooding under the crisp, rolling percussion and brain-tunnelling riff, with Biome and Demon each adding their individual touches to cover depth and darkness, whilst still generating a warm and uplifting feel. It catches you out again, the 32 bar switch almost Grime like in its intensity and structure changes the pace completely, scrambling the signals in your brain and instantly causing your hand to form a gunfinger and ventilate the nearest imaginary ceiling. A Jekyll and Hyde smasher. Flip Side 'Symmetry' sees the pairing fuse halfstep and tribal, layers of congo vibes shuffling amongst a neck snapping industrial undercurrent. Splattering snarls, growls and stabs zip across pulsating lows, with sinister flecks of world ending darkness. Both artists break loose on edits, perfectly punctuating this hard hitter with ferocity and malevolence. Killer combo death moves!

After gracing CIA with 3 remixes the latest being the massive remix of Going in Circles, Break has finally delivered his 1st 12 for Deepkut and it was well worth the wait. Rare Earth is a dirty dancefloor killer with storming breaks and disgusting bass riffs. Dreader is a deeper affair with classic old skool vocals and dub style riddim section.

With a reputation as one of the UK's leading labels for contemporary dubwise produce forged in the last year with releases by dub heavyweights such as Earl 16, Mungo's Hi Fi, Nick Manasseh, and RSD, Reggae Roast come with the new single from Ruben Da Silva featuring Skinnyman. 'Sensi Skank' is yet another home grown slice of hard hitting digital roots, set to shake speaker stacks across the land. Ruben Da Silva is quickly becoming a major force on the British roots scene and one of the hottest new voices in town. The beautifully distinctive tone to his vocal carries the track as he begrudges the fact that he is criminalized and forced to smoke undercover. Skinnyman, the long time outspoken advocator of the legalisation of cannabis, makes a rare but unforgettable appearance, and as ever his flow and delivery are second to none, delivering a socially analytical commentary. Absent from this side of the Channel for far too long, London/Paris/Brighton-based collective ARCHIVE return with the epic and beautiful With Us Until You're Dead. The album, produced by longtime collaborator Jerome Devoise, will be released on the band's own Dangervisit Records via Cooperative Music on 27th August 2012.
Part-orchestral, part-electronic, part-soulful, part-progressive and wholly emotion-soaked and cinematic, the album touches tangents with Massive Attack, Radiohead, The Aloof, UNKLE and Secret Machines, with four dynamic singers fronting a restlessly inventive landscape constructed by Archive's long-standing core of Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths.
Archive's dark and dramatic 1996 debut Londinium was a recognised trip-hop classic but the band's fortunes over the last 15 years have taken a strange turn. Third album You All Look The Same To Me and 2004's Noise made them superstars across Europe when Warner France signed them. But while Archive would routinely sell out venues such as Paris' Zenith Arena (tantamount to selling out Alexandra Palace here), contractual problems meant none of these albums received a UK release, and Archive remained a hidden treasure in their own backyard.
Until now. With a new record deal, With Us Until You're Dead has a UK release and the band couldn't be happier. 'It's great to be a big band all over Europe and we don't take it for granted, but we're a UK act, and we want to be successful here too,' says Keeler. This Autumn will see Archive embark on an extensive European tour that includes two nights at the Zenith in Paris on 16/17th November before ending in Prague in early December. A London headline show will be announced soon.
First taster from the album comes in the form of the 'Wiped Out / Violently EP' released on July 2nd. Featuring remixes from the likes of Man Without Country, Sei A and Rosko John, the EP will be released on 12" and download formats. 'Violently' comes with a suitably dark promo video directed by legendary graphic designer Brian Cannon who created album covers for Oasis and The Verve.

With residencies at Exodus/DMZ Leeds, Outlook festival, numerous shows and tours worldwide Jack Sparrow is becoming a highly in demand DJ and producer. Jack is also one half of production duo 'Author' who released their debut album in November 2011. His first release on MEDi shows Jacks love of Techno and Soundsystem culture with the lead track 'Afraid Of Me'. 'Afraid Of Me' intros with a heavy kick and twisted techno influences which drops straight into the pulsating sub bass which is tenacious throughout, only pausing for the beautifully dark breakdown where the track opens up and threatens to roll into a film score evocative of the 'Watchmen' from where the sinister vocal sample is taken. 'This city's free of me, I've seen it's true face'. The flip 'Good Old Days' is a far more laidback, meditative and blissful vibe, Moody old skool jazz running's with tripped out blissful sax, one for the hot summer nights!

LV return to Hyperdub with a taste of what's to come on their forthcoming South London-meets-South Africa album 'Sebenza', due at the end of August. What LV make here is the exciting prospect of music influenced by South African house and Kwaito, informed by regular trips out there and sessions with up and coming South African artists such as Okmalumkoolkat, Ruffest and Spoek Mathambo, but letting the influences of UK soundsystem music and hip hop bleed naturally into the mix too, creating a genuine hybrid. The 'Get A Grip' EP leads with the enormously catchy 'Sebenza' .Okmalumkookat emcees around a chorus of 'Sebenza only rest in December', 'sebenza' meaning 'work' in his native Zulu tongue, dropping wit and product placement over super bouncy soca-like drums and bright stabs; it's a guaranteed hit. Blackest Ever Black is releasing the first ever vinyl edition of Gareth Williams and Mary Currie's Flaming Tunes.
This remarkable album was recorded at DDM and Cold Storage in London after Williams had left This Heat and returned from the
first of several trips to India. It was officially released on cassette in 1985, before being bootlegged on CD more than a decade later.
The bootleg in question, the Japan-issued After The Heat, described the Flaming Tunes pieces as "This Heat's final demo
recordings", much to Gareth's understandable dismay - after all, the album marked a conscious attempt to create a music
with a different mood and texture to that of This Heat, one which would allow the full expression of his eclectic
and distinctive tastes.

Ikonika returns with the 'I Make Lists EP', the first full extended release since her 2010 debut album 'Contact, Love, Want, Have' (Hyperdub). Hum + Buzz present 6 incendiary club ready tracks, her most accomplished and anticipated work to date. Taking a dark approach with 'I Make Lists' and 'Cold Soaking', these dubplate anthems have been the highlight of recent Ikonika sets. They both fuse paranoid, intense and ominous basslines with sinister and eerie lead synths. 'Take Pictures' melds a languid drum machine strut with reflective but focused melodies. The playful side of Ikonika is present in the Latino Freestyle influenced track 'Catch Vibes' and 'With Your Mouth', a stripped backed procession. These two tracks employ driving drums, acidic basslines and mischievous melodies. Bringing us to the finale is the majestic 'PR812'. Referencing the hijacking of a passenger flight in 2000, Ikonika crafts an emotive dance floor anthem with centre stage given to her original approach to melody and arrangement. Support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Jackmaster, Bok Bok, GIRL UNIT, and Eclair Fifi among others.

So what is After the void ..We Bang the Bomb of course with a lady in a thong surrounded by snakes and hand grenade's, obvious really! Having been away for some time it appears that a Light Sounds Dark spring is in the air. En route to their next destination (rumoured to be a dark subterranean world full of nasty mutants 'Danger electrified tracks' out this Summer) with arms out the window and the mothership roof down, it's full steam ahead and proper European dance music time.

Not really train spotting as before although a couple are a bit off piste like Malta's very own Ian Dury by the name of Iain Richardson rapping about sitting on a green bus! much more like it however are classic Italo covers of 'Big in Japan', 'Gloria', a wonderful new wave version of Falco's euro smash 'Der Kommissar' and The Thoughts massive German hit 'Wait a Long Time' sounding like some long lost Talk Talk record. Light Sounds Dark do some minor tweaking (going for that natural look) to big beast anthems Axodry's 'You' and Colme 111's 'You Take Me High' (early euro take on Chicago) and for lovers of something a bit more funky there's some groovy goings on from Kraut funksters Epsilon urging people to 'Leave The City' which might not be a bad idea if the water runs out.

Brighton's Dismantle second single with Wheel and Deal once again delivering his multi genre club smashing sounds.Destroy: Destory is the angry big brother of his first Single Computation & Word Dance! Dismantle delivers the goods again with his bouncing Electro / crack house step. The bit crushed vocal 'Destroy' breaks the epic build to a monster drop that gets every dance floor screaming for the wheelers! This track has been smashing it worldwide with support from N-Type, Hatcha, Mistajam, Shy Fx, Hizzle guy & Kutz to name a few.Computation VIP: The previously unreleased Dubplate! This wasn't going to see the light of day! A staple in the bag of N-Type, MistaJam, Hatcha, Soap Dodgers, Benton, Walsh & The Others! A sick little rework of the original track that launched Dismantle in to the limelight last year. Dismantle is join from strength to strength, and is a force to be reckoned with in 2012.

Producing deep, techy Drum & Bass at a level like Future Signal does is no mean feat, and it's not mere kindness to say that the UK collective has been working hard on this release for IM:LTD, perfecting each track until it reaches their very exacting standards. On the A side, 'Claymore' bursts out immediatly with the sort of dark rolling paranoia that Future Signal have long been applaud for. Sharp whips of synth crack through the deep rumbling bass like a beast being roused from a deep sleep and flashes of light come from the cuttingly crisp snares keeping up that momentum.

Roska's Kicks and Snares/RKS is back with another big release, and this time it comes courtesy of Jamie George with the hotly anticipated Flying Saucer. First picked up by DJ Oneman, making it a feature on his Rinse mix cd, support for this track has grown and grown with well known acts such as Toddla T, Hot Chip and Tomb Crew repping it hard. Combining elements of UKG, House and Dubstep Jamie has created an instant classic that has worked hard to earn this release and the plays of DJ's all across the country. Roska himself steps up with the first remix, a re-imagining with special attention on the percussion, elements of tribal and dancehall peel back the layers of the original in the way that only a talented minimalist like Roska can. With his speciality lying in the truly funky Roska drops a mix that literally drags you up to your feet and pushes you harder the longer it's played. J Kenzo, of Dub Police fame, completes the package with a much darker, harder affair. You get the impression he took the original track and made it watch the entire Saw series back to back with Halloween then sent it back scarred forever. In all seriousness Kenzo has a real talent for creating dark, bass driven tracks and he has expanding on that here adding heavy portions of electro and old school to compose a truly original mix. Kowton's EPs are the best possible fit for 'the devil's workshop' - they're not only deep, dark and warm, but also seductive and, at a pinch, sexy - just like the Dark Prince, or so I've been told.
