After the widespread success of PNTS001 (Visionists Mr. 67), the South London based imprint returns with another hard hitter in Magnums All Over Me E.P. Fresh from recent moves on Nightshifters, Gradient Audio, Soukouch Ethnik and Inhale including a remix of Canblaster, the Puerto Rican producer has quickly built up much notoriety in his home country and is beginning to develop a following in the UK with numerous plays from Rinse FMs Scratcha DVA and Randomer.The title track of this latest excursion is as much a robust 808/909 dance floor mover as it is an all out, arms in the air, hairs on the back of your neck serotonin overload. The Kowton v Dusk EP is another milestone on the M4 bass exchange: a dialogue between England's two most sub-saturated cities, Bristol and London. Capital-based Dusk and West Country-resident Kowton contribute three tracks in total: Dusk's 'Fraction', Kowton's 'Looking At You', and Kowton's remix of 'Fraction'. Kowton's production career began in a different guise, as Narcossist, inspired by dark, skunked out '04 Youngsta sets. As his style would mutate into Kowton, finding the slow house grooves he currently inhabits, he would carry with him a common sense of edgy Metalheadz-esque dread. His debut release on Keysound Recordings, 2009's 'Countryman' / 'Stasis (g mix)' blended this dark edge with Basic Channel's sense of space and UK garage's swing. 2011 has been his most prolific year, seeing collaborations with Peverelist and Tom Dicicco as well as releases on Teal Recordings, Naked Lunch and Bristol's much hyped Idle Hands. As for his contributions to this EP, 'Looking At You' inhabits the space between house, UK funky and dubstep, while his re-fit of Dusk's 'Fraction' is a masterclass in offbeat percussion and evolving groove. 'How underrated is Dusk' rhetorically enquired Fact Mag recently. 'He doesn't release much, but 2008's 'Focus' has to rank as one of the finest moments in the dubstep canon. 'Fraction' is... a definite highlight.' Dusk is one half of production duo and Rinse FM DJs Dusk + Blackdown. He co-owns Keysound Recordings and co-produced the duo's acclaimed 2008 debut album 'Margins Music'.

Former Mattafix frontman Marlon Roudette will commence his solo career with the October 24th release of his debut EP 'Riding Home' on Warner Bros. Records.

Sometime you can't keep a good remix down, and we certainly felt that with these two beastly versions by two very exciting producers of bass music.First up is an exciting producer 2nd Drop have been talkin to for over a year now, Atlanta's Distal has been making a lot of noise across the bass scene with releases on Tectonic and Alongside putting a vast array of music on his own Embassy Label. Inspired by Gerry's original, Distal has produced something truly brilliant. In stark contrast to the sublime Youandewan remix and Gerry Read's killer original, Distal grabs the key elements and transforms them into an awesome juke workout. Drawing on an arsenal of stunning original features, this hyperkinetic version is bursting with character, energy and colour.On the flip, we welcome back Sully, who first saw wax on 2nd Drop with the anthemic Give Me Up in mid 2008. As a big fan of 23hz & Numaestro's original, Sully asked to remix Zumo soon after it's release in early 2009. Failed hardrives and a quiet 2010 for the label sadly meant this remix with its shifting syncopated beat patterns and moody El-B-esque swing, was sat on. Until now. Beautifully placed to carry on the Sully sound after his critically acclaimed album on Keysound in September, this long overdue remix now gets the release it deserves. Coincidently, the artist on both of the original releases was our mysterious Portugese illustrator and graffiti activist Uiu. So in the spirit of the release we asked him to remix both the original illustrations to create a new version for this release. The featured art ensued. Slightly bonkers, but amazing!

Brand new on Dub Police is a fresh new plate from KGB who hails from Tallinn, Estonia. A relative newcomer to the Dub Police camp but definitely one for the future. MEAT (EP) is the name and BEEFY BASS is the game.

Kowton and Tom Dicicco, residing in Bristol and Manchester respectively, make very different music from one another. Kowton's seems to come from House, perhaps also Electro and Garage, often quite slow in tempo and hard to pin down to a specific genre. Tom's music is Techno, bass heavy, melodic, textured and rooted around 125 BPM. With these distinctive styles the idea of a split EP might seem ambitious, but the result is four cohesive but different tracks that show the talents of both artists perfectly in the format of two originals on one side and two remixes of each other's originals on the other.Tom Dicicco's original is driven by a low-mid range thick stab and pounding kick drum, littered with intricate but not overbearing hi hat and snare work and some very atmospheric mid range. Kowton's is subtle and sparse, low fidelity and plodding, with rattling percusion carrying the tune along.On the other side of the record, Kowton's remix of Tom's original is driven by an enormous bassline, with an off kilter dubby feel to the slow tempo and genre defying tune. Tom's remix of Kowton rounds off the EP with a return to stab driven Techno, pulsating, dynamic and trance inducing. Mastered by Matt at Air Studios London

Marc Mac takes another journey through the 1960's Civil Rights movement with 'Extend The Knowledge'. The limited edition double CD is packed with jazzy, soulful 90's style hip hop beats cleverly intertwined with vocal clips from the Civil Rights era. "Extend The Knowledge" is the follow up beat tape from "It's Right To Be Civil" also included in the double pack release.

The opening hits of the percussion stay smooth and relaxed, and the instruments come in one-by-one - first the synth, then the strings, then the brass - to create an experience that's both engaging and relaxing. This is the sort of music I would listen to if I cruised the streets of San Francisco in the evenings. As 'Back To The Bay' wraps up and pulls us into his remix of 'Screw Up,' we get a dose of Subscape's intensity, but it's quickly pulled back into Matty G's signature low-bass, hip-hop/dubstep fusion beats. 'Jam Like A Tek' adds in some vocal hooks to get the crowd chanting - and you're missing out if you don't add this into your mix. Deep kick drums, a snappy snare, big distortion on the scratchy bass wobbles, and the vocals all come together perfectly to create a track that'll get people grinding like mad on the dancefloor.

Pepe Deluxé are the brainchild of Jari Salo aka James Spectrum and his white tuxedo'ed musical partner Paul Malmström, a prodigiously talented multi-instrumentalist residing in his penthouse apartment in Manhattan. and attempts to brew a cup of perfect coffee.



Pepe Deluxé last released an album 4 years ago with 'Spare Time Machine', but unlike most artists this is no bad thing. They've kept themselves busy. Among other things they are now the only people ever to record an original composition on the known Universe's largest musical instrument: The Stalacpipe Organ, which resides in the Luray Caves in Virginia. This simple task of capturing two minutes of music took over six years of planning and work! Pepe Deluxé tend to make the impossible possible in the pursuit of musical excellence.



The album 'Queen of the Wave', due for release in early 2012, is a pop opera loosely based around a 19th Century Sci-Fi novel ' A Dweller Of Two Planets' and at a time of downloadable single tunes, is highly refreshing.

Composer Kerkko Koskinen is the author behind one of the brightest jazz highlights of 2011, "Trains & Letters". The latest release on Helsinki's Ricky-Tick Records, the album finds Koskinen's music interpreted by a big band consisting entirely of Finnish jazz hard-hitters. The music itself is a remarkable combination of third stream-ish elements and hard-cooking soul jazz communicated in a musical language not unlike that of 1950's/60's modern jazz greats such as Charles Mingus.

This double A sided single sees the legendary Chronic Records on firing form, selecting two of the hottest tracks from brand new EP's from rising Brazilian stars Acuna and Critycal Dub for a Ltd Edition vinyl release.

It was a long time ago Robert Manos had a release on secret operations, and with this single it's been wirth the wait.A. Trouble is a deep and emotional track that really shows what Manos is famous for. The depth of the track gets compensated by heavy compressed beats.AA. Madness. This is a different side of Manos, with a more laid back tone. This track feels a bit more cocktail lounge, but truly works in club as well.

Demand Records has been making a lot of noise this year thanks to their keen ear for the finest drum & bass around and a cleverly selected set of remixers. Here we have the label's fifth release from the incredibly talented Spinline & Hydro which looks set to catapult Demand straight to the front of DJs boxes once again First up Spinline & Hydro deliver 'Junction 13 with skipping beats and a bassline so low it could tunnel under your house! Meanwhile 'Perimeter' bounces along with menacing intent and a moody atmosphere, complementing the A side perfectly.

My House' is both a chunky rave smasher and refreshingly different in its approach. Opening with simple synth stabs, warm pads and skipping half time beats, you'd be forgiven for expecting a cheesy radio track to emerge, but instead you're treated to an amalgamation of intense electro house inspired musicality mashed together with familiar Drum and Bass sounds. What an insane track! This is the kind of ear-gasmic production you would expect from SKiSM and Flux Pavillion, with mad bars from the Foreign Beggars. Autumn is inevitable, so is another 12' from Absys Records. This time it's an album sampler for the forthcoming second compilation by the name of 'Mystical Deep vol 2'. In a similar vein to the previous wax release, we've got three exceptional tracks to present to you.

Headman's Be Loved surfaces from Relish's recent label round up Compilation 3. The taught 808 foundation of the track is supplemented with heart swelling synth lines that unfold eventually into an upbeat electronic pop song repleat with live bass and swirling strings. Vocal duties are supplied by Rosie Blair, known to some as vocalist for Moon Unit, and one half of the duo Boy of Girl with Paul Mogg (formerly of the Psychonauts). The song steps a fine line between electro, synth pop and the electro/ acoustic dualism of Wide Boy Awake.
