Recorded in the winter/spring of 2009, first released
in june 2009. At the time I called it my failed Kompakt techno experiment, I started out with that minimal beat in mind but ended with something different.

LIMITED REPRESS WITH NEW ARTWORK. First brought to light by the SB.TV F64 freestyles the ubiquitous 'Wooo Riddim' was arguably one of the most exposed grime tracks of the past year and now see its vinyl release as the second release on the Butterz white label series. The track has already been vocalled by D Double E, Footsie, P. Money, Chipmunk, JME and Jammer and has continued to stir up debate as to who has the best version. The tracks popularity has exceeded the 18-year old producer, S-X's, expectations by a long mile. Taking its influence from dirty-south hip-hop, 'Wooo Riddim' leans on on a stern 808 drum-roll and is accompanied by somewhat hypnotic synth-lines that compliment the laid back feeling of the track. Local Actions DJ Q is on remix duty on the B-side and delivers a somewhat dramatic interpretation with some woozy synths and manages to maintain the energy of the original and adding a bit of extra sub-bass to finish it off. Mainly known for his exploits in the UK Bassline scene DJ Q shows his versatility here by working with a grime track so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more of his productions on the weekly Rinse FM Butterz radio show. 1. What do you do if you want to start a new label with a bang~ Well, you probably couldn't go far wrong by getting a cracking drum & bass track from duo of the moment, Nero. And that's exactly what Grenade Recordings have done. 'Can't Take It' goes off like a roadside incendiary, with tough beats and cheeky vocal snippets all brought together with a grinding, winding bassline that blows up the dancefloor! Thought we couldn't pull out any more cheap firearms references~ Well we can, because label owner, Plus 8, steps up on the flip with 'Wheel Of Fortune', a serious armoury of rinsing breaks, chest-pounding bass and bleeping sound FX.

Hot off the heels of "Hungry For the Power" and "Reckless For Your Love", Azari & III flex their remix muscle with a heavy dose of synth stabbing and percussive angst, reworking Runaway's original "The Fire Below" into a peak time burner.
The Revenge's take shows that you don't have to "bang it out" to fill dancefloors. His mix displays what's made his production touch so popular, disco boogie-styled samples mixed with a slow modern take on classic house percussion.

Amoss' Alignment E.P is the forth release from Touched By Records. Amoss, aka James Evans and Andy Tweedale, originate from the midlands. At just 21, the pair have been making big waves within their chosen genre Their incredible talent has already served them well with their track 'We All Grow' featured on the Cut Up Boys Ministry of Sound mash up mix 2010. Having recently received support from the likes of Loxy Data, we are expecting great things from Amoss and many more exciting releases with their name on it.

The exceptional quality of these two pieces of music, combined with obvious dance floor appeal and a coincidentally similar theme made this pairing a logical choice. One side is a hybrid Hip Hop-Dubstep monster put together by Los Angeles based producer BARE. The flip is a Drum & Bass stomper created by accomplished British producer and long time BassHead family member DJ SILVER. Both songs are a proven commodity for any bass dj and are causing ruckus on dance floors around the globe.

Society is a gritty techno D&B smasher with stomping drums, gut disturbing sub bass and a generous dose of acid to top things off. On the flip side - 'Scrawl' is a techstep grindout, sitting upon an eerie soundscape with chunky drums, a disgusting lead riff and humming subline. Both tunes are hitting hard on the dancefloor and this first release from Deviant Nature is a sure sign of big things to come.

Hybris is Evan Vischi. After years of being a studio recluse, Evan surfaced in the DC scene and released collaborations and solo projects under the name Robot Death Squad. He then moved to the Czech Republic to focus on advancing his own sound and began releasing under the name Hybris. Towards the end of 2009 his tunes were spotted and picked up by Kasra, and his debut single was released on Critical: Modulations (The Cleaner/ Raindance) in June of 2010. With several forthcoming releases on C.I.A., Blackout Music, and Critical, and DJ support from some of the scene's heaviest hitters, Evan is now committed to pushing heavy and precise dancefloor beats to the next level. Punch is a new Dubstep label owned and run by jump up king Jaydan. For the first release DJ Liz-e steps up for her debut single. This tune roles out nicely and has been turning heads in the Drum and Bass and Dubstep scene. Watch out for this label as we've been hearing big things coming from the Punch camp.

Matty G is a dubstep DJ and producer from California, USA and is considered somewhat a pioneer for bringing the underground genre over there, along with a few others. Known for combining hip-hop, 808' low rider style bass and other types of electronic music into creating his take on dubstep, this guy is coming with something very original

Producer, label boss, DJ & remixer extraordinaire, Charles Webster will need no introduction to house music lovers. From his early days working at Square Dance Studios in Nottingham engineering for celebrated labels such as Time and DiY his unquestionable talent has seen him DJ all over the world, remix tracks on labels such as Defected, Buzzin' Fly, Freerange and Dessous and release numerous records under various guises such as Furry Phreaks, DJ Profile and Presence. Under the moniker of Presence he teamed up with Massive Attack vocalist Shara Nelson to create the deep house anthem 'Sense of Danger' which was released on the seminal deep house label Pagan. With Shara's deeply emotive vocal layered over tough beats, metallic synths and soaring strings, this still sounds as fresh and as relevant as it did 12 years ago. This release sees the first drum & bass remix of the series, which we have entrusted in the accomplished hands of Dominick Martin aka Calibre. Anyone familiar with his work or who has heard his most recent album 'Shine A Light' will know he is an artist unconfined to the restraints of the norm, and he displays this by flipping the original vocal on its head to create an alternative chorus to the original, embellished with stirring classical strings and spooky pads.

Liquid V needs no introduction but hey, I'm gonna give you one anyway. Bryan G and Jumping Jack Frost set up this sub label and it quickly rose to the top of the Liquid Funk genre in no time and it's stayed there ever since. Now on there 18th release, Rehab takes the reins and certainly does this iconic label justice.

Darkestral finally release one of the most talked about tracks on underground forums (10K plus posts on a DOA) and unleash the bewildering 'Reverse Engineering' - a track solely built from backwards parts, that has been delighting, confounding and confusing dancefloors the world over. Coupled with the polar opposite beauty of 'Everything (& U)', which continues the Darkestral love for contrasting sides on releases, and was recently licensed to FabricLive52, this track marks a stamp of quality on the burgeoning minimalist dnb sound by adding the emotional layer that Darkestral aa sides have become known for.

In 2010 Serial Killaz put out a string of top selling releases and it looks like 2011 is going to be the same. To kick things off is a fresh re-lick of a tune that everyone knows and loves by Collie Buddz. The lads have used their trademark production skills along with the catchy hook to create a dancefloor friendly reggae-roller. Flip it over and 'Jamaican Boy' does much the same. Catchy hooks and bubbling bass lines make this another dancefloor filler.

After years of success in their relative drum and bass production outfits, Siren is a collaboration of Vice from Vicious Circle and Ruxspin from Universal Project. Their debut album, "Broken Silence", forthcoming in November 2010 on their own Siren Records has been doing damage on the DJ circuit for some time now. Tracks such as 'Snorkel' (a edited version of featured on Andy C's Nightlife 5 compilation), 'Gumball Rally', 'Rollers Convention' and 'Broken Silence' have been staples in the sets of everyone from Andy C to DJ Marky to Fabio and Chase and Status, as well as the new breed of artist producers such as S.P.Y, Spor and Jubei.

These tracks have been causing quite a stir...So tantalisingly disgusting that the likes of Rusko, Sukh Knight, NType, Doctor P, Flux Pavillion, Jakes and Trolley Snatcha can't leave it alone! Eddie K is no newcomer to the dance music scene. Starting out as a drum and bass producer, his debut releases made an impact amongst the scene with tracks such as Planet Terror and My Sound remaining in DJs bags to date. More recently, Ed's been making a significant entry into the dubstep world. His first dubstep release on H.E.N.C.H (Who's the Hardest / The Shivers) had big reactions from all of the top names in the scene, which led up to his next release; his dubstep remix of DJ Prime Cuts ft. MC Dynamite - Warning, released on DSR at the end of 2009. This reached #2 in the Beatport dubstep download chart and recently featured in the latest instalment of Xbox's 'Crackdown' franchise. His latest release sees him collaborate with Hench youngster, Minus, along with emphatic appearances by London-based vocalist, Beezy, and Bristol's Shadz. If this release doesn't serve as a tribute to the different directions dubstep has taken within recent years, then it certainly acts as proof that Eddie K's sound and production skills have matured quicker than we could have anticipated.
A: SERIAL KILLA (FT. BEEZY & MINUS) - You might well have heard about Serial Killa before hearing the track itself. Arriving just in time to establish itself as a summer dancefloor destroyer, many a raver will soon be witnessing the floor shake when this one gets dropped. Beezy's twisted hook line cuts short the euphoric intro and lets loose to a siren-like bassline. This is the kind of track that will have the neighbours pulling the curtains shut and calling the Police.
AA: STARLIGHT - A favourite of the D Style camp, Eddie K takes us on his maiden voyage into this aspect of dubstep production. Touching on the techno-tinged, atmospheric vibes similar to Komonamuk's 'You Fo' release early in 2010, 'Starlight' is a track that would sit as comfortably in Laurent Garnier's bag as any dubstep DJ's. Forward thinking and high-paced the echoey background and sub bass contribute to creating one of the Hench imprint's deepest tracks to date.

Logan D's label Lowdown Deep has been at the forefront of jump up drum and bass for years now and he keeps on signing bangers. Logan teams up with good friend Majistrate to craft these two slices for modern day jump up. 2011 is going to be a big year for this label with some really exciting releases planned; word on the street is that award winning DJ Sly has got an EP coming though Lowdown so keep your ears to the ground.

'Champion Deejay' the LP by Top Cat draws to a close with this the last 12" release. Serum makes his second appearance with his version of 'Late Night Kung Fu'. With so much good music arriving in the Exit inbox, it was decided that a various artist project was needed to ensure that it all see the light of day and doesn't get caught up in a never ending schedule of singles. This album truly represents the more experimental side of Drum n Bass, as opposed to the crash bang wallop that seems to be the only side of Drum n Bass portrayed by the mainstream media today. There are many rumours circulating the Internet about Inside Info, most are false. However, one of the ones that is true is that this man makes some of the most technically ridiculous, and powerful music known to man (this claim has not yet been subjected to independent study).
