Awkward Movements returns to release the debut from London's Dodger Man - one of the most talked-about new producers of the last 12 months. And with good reason. Dodger Man's multi-instrumentalist background opened the door for his high-profile sets bombed with back-to-back dubs of his own creation. His workings played-out live have gained him a reputation as one of the top emerging DJs, the height of which came following an impressive set at Bloc Weekend, after being hand- picked by Joy Orbison to share the bill. The natural alignment with Awkward Movements has served up his highly-anticipated debut record, and it doesn't disappoint. Marking Dodger Man's official debut, Mango Tree steps in where the underground bass sound's left off. Combining the same elements that pushed Floating Points and SBTRKT to the forefront in 2009 with the vibes that future garage has brought in 2010, Dodger Man takes it up with a deep bass rhythm, crunchy hi-end synth and drums for the decks and dancefloor. Bridging the gap between tech and dub, 2_12 is the stripped down evil-twin on the B-side. Take a complex 22 track and strip it to its core without losing it's personality and you've almost arrived. A uniquely complex tune - wanting to burst out but eerily contained in its black hole minimal approach of grinded synth stabs and one-shot styled drums.

The third release on Project Squared features on it's A side two tracks of Techno infused Dubstep from L-OW, an Estonian producer who has been building a reputation and discography since 2008 with a string of excellent releases. The first track, 'Pinpoint', has an energetic drive and pace despite it's syncopated individual rhythmical elements. L-OW fuses these disparate elements to make a dance floor track with impact and depth. L-OW's second track is Diver; a more reflective and introspective piece than Pinpoint, this is not a recording to play at the height of a set, but is more a piece focussed on mood and depth. On the B side, Bristol based artist Furesshu remixes Diver, taking elements of the original 140bpm Dubstep track and applying them to a 127bpm Techno framework. After a well received debut release on Project Squared that has garnered DJ play from the likes of Sigha , Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock, Furesshu has produced a superb remix as a follow up. He strips back the original to a haunting, industrial, emotive melodic element, and drives the pace of the remix with cymbal lead drum lines and expansive bass. A: Blade - 'Massachusetts' Tight beats and crispy percussion layered with lovely chords will take your mind on a journey. The beat is constantly being layered so it aids the flow of the tune. The most favourite of Italian producers, Bottin, returns with an old project. "Tinpong" is a collaboration between BotTIN and Swiss singer Joy Frey PONG. These tasty masters were just gathering dust on an old hard disc in Venice but when we heard them we just had to get these gems out there.

The final piece of the jigsaw from Crissy & Youngman is 'Give You The World' and has been much sought after over the last 6
months. It starts off in smoky, introspective fashion, with Youngman's vocals drifting over the soothing strings. But things
get mucky quickly, as an onslaught of thudding bass hits takes the track straight into peak time dancefloor territory. Flip
the script to 'Shake That Booty', the duo show they're equally adept at rolling out deep and dirty dubstep, with an array of
hyperactive electro bass riffs and cabinet rattling sub bass.

'Wray' has been on dub plate now for at least 2 years and finally sees it's vinyl release. Harking back to 1994, ethereal pads, crashing amen drums and awesome bass. Funky house/breaks and nu-disco from Antwerp, Belgium

A strand emerging within dubstep is a mutant jungle strain within the sound. Needless to say, it's impossible to imagine dubstep without the DNA of jungle: it's prominent in so many ways and places, from Burial's Foul Play influences to Loefah's love of the sound itself. Members of the scene used to DJ jungle, from N Type and Kode9 to Jason, Transition's mighty mastering engineer. In fact the whole 'dark' component that makes dubstep distinct from UK garage has its roots in El-B's twin love of Metalheadz and 2step. Jungle is less an influence on dubstep, more like the foundation on which the whole scene, via garage, was built. But in spite of all that, a re-emphasis on jungle-flavored dubs is emerging within dubstep; songs that use chopped breaks, epic pads, and vocal samples like it was 1994, from producers LD and Cluekid. by Martin Clark
