With his tracks being featured on dBridge & Instra:mental's recent Fabriclive mix and ASC is a name you're going to be hearing a lot more of.

percussive patterns with tribal undertones. Twisting, ghostly soundscapes drift in and out from above, with morphing pulses of subbass
underneath. On the flipside, "Inhale" brings dubbed out, future-jungle vibes with irresistible energy and hints of mystical allure.

Norway's most famous and acclaimed nine-piece jazz/alt.rock/prog/baroque/afro-beat masters return to the fray with a new EP drawing on their recent album, "One-Armed Bandit."

Brand new on N-Type's Wheel & Deal label comes two collaborations between Seven and Elvee 'Breakdown' and 'Moonshine', techy dancefloor rollers just how Mr. Type likes 'em, hard stabs and euphoric synths sounding like a cross between Benga and Headhunter, nab this!

Nonplus 007 sees the Californian based producer Vaccine make her debut on the label with a brace of tracks in her signature style of rich musical textures and ingenious drum arrangements. With a wealth of releases on labels such as Hotflush and Tempa, its safe to say that quality control has never been an issue for her and this release is no exception.
a) Vaccine 'Ochre' - The a-side 'Ochre' with its scratchy lo-fi beats and rugged gliding bassline is textbook Vaccine. An abstract looping vocal brings an almost soulful edge to the track but it still remains tense and gritty throughout. Doing damage in clubs across the world but just as relevant at home, this track will stay in your playlist for the long haul.
aa) Vaccine 'Cascade failure' - Slightly mellower than the a-side but on more of an emotive tip, this track plays with orchestral 'Burialesque' chords and melodies and really makes you get your thinking cap on. Once again her trademark lo-fi beats and percussion swirl around in seemingly effortless complex patterns, with layer upon layer of chords and melodies the track has so much depth its almost impossible to take it all in with just one listen.

In 2003 Visti & Meyland teamed up through friends and immediately found out that they shared a mutual passion for creating music. Their love of music has spawned several 12s on labels such as Warner, Music for Dreams and Eskimo. This is all very spiffing, however it is their slightly quirky, spanner-in-the-works take on things that really attracted us to the Danish paring. Their broad musical heads & certain sense of humour in their music dovetails ever so nicely with our own wacky take on the world here at Bearfunk towers.

Their self titled debut album is a result of their 7 year journey together. We love it. You've probably already heard one of its lead tracks "Yes Maam / All Nite Long". It slyly samples some US archive negro spiritual recordings and spins them a minimalist electro disco groove. Recent single "Stars" also takes a staring role with its epic extended "prog-disco" build up and rousing Russian-cold-war-navy-style chorus.

Future single "Leave Your Worries" heaps on doses of positivity with dancefloor groove and zany lyrical musings. The floor friendly "Diggy Dang" also adds to the up-tempo groover quotient to the LP. Of course there is the obligatory cover version on the album, Grace Jones "Nightclubbing" is the subject here, a fine quirky disco re-take.

Both being Gemini's, the vibe in the studio can become fairly tense, and sometimes result in hour-long discussions on music, music history, musical taste and life in general. This feeds down to the varied set of tunes. Tracks such as "Something In The Way", "Slowly" and "I'm Scared" explore the more introspective, downtempo and thoughtful side to the pairing. Epics such as "The Chair" detail the breadth of influences and the vast musical silos the pair can draw from. All in all 10 thoroughly well constructed songs.

It's a fine day when something like this get dropped on me... I don't think much needs to be said about this one... It's a 9+ minute cover of Afrika Bambaataa's legendary "Planet Rock" from German electro pioneers Kraftwerk.
A flawless composition that does mighty good justice to the original

Since his first appearance on Nonplus, ASC has been hard at work on his LP and its finally here. Starting with a 12' sampler he dives right in at the deep end with 'Phobos' in which electronic grooves and micro samples entwine against a backdrop of dramatic tones and industrial hits. Followed on the same side by the atmospheric hiatus 'Oort Cloud' you have a good inclination of the impending album by now, but are also treated to the AA-side 'Matter Of Time'. Like a continuation of his debut Nonplus 12' track 'Porcelain', his crafty use of oriental sounding percussion, windlike sounds and melodies combined with an efficacious bass line make this track very hard to listen to in its entirety before you reach for the reset. The album touches on many genres from start to finish such as the 4×4 offering of 'Textura', or the almost indescribable step of 'Yatta', but one common theme that this album holds throughout is the amalgamation of influences derived from all genres of music and ASC's ability to combine these to create something new and unique.

Back in 2006 the planet was going nuts for a track titled 'Aim'd At You'. Penned by drum n bass legends Brockie and Ed Solo it formed part of the Pure LP on Brockies very own Undiltued imprint. Played by everybody and anybody it became a dance floor must due to it's very well used instant messenger sound effects. Now, 2010 is here and so is the remix, on the A side it's Pleasure (one of the biggest things to happen to dnb of late) and the Brockie and Ed Solo VIP mix on the flip.

Cylon Recordings is the brain child of legendry drum and bass producer Loxy and this show's in the quality that he puts out. The producer responsible for 'Sirens', one of the biggest UK Funky House anthems to date - along with other monster hits including 'The Music' and 'Reign' - is about to write his name large on the scene again with this release featuring four all-new bangers, including the mighty 'Colonel' which is being heavily selected by DJs right across the board. The tracks possess the hard hitting style that Hard House Banton is widely loved for as well as fusing new sounds into the music to maintain his position at the top of the funky heap. First released in 2009 alongside Eight : FX's 'Future : Dubstep' compilation CD, Hatcha's two club smashes here were created alongside Lost - a producer who since being signed exclusively to the H.E.N.C.H label has received consistent support from dubstep's biggest DJs. On the flip Bare Noize followed up their chart-topping debut release 'Make Some F*cking Noize' with a brace two of their ominous bass anthems.

By 2008, Hatcha & Kromestar were already two of dubstep's biggest and most established artists, creating their own deep, dark and dirty niche within the sound. Their debut LP 'Brothers Grim' is eight tracks of an unending torrent of speaker destroying dubstep beats. Widely considered the originator of dubstep and the scene's first DJ, Hatcha has been there from day dot, as the frontman for dubstep's first regular club FWD>>, mixer of Dubstep's first major compilation CD, and A&R man for the fabled Big Apple label. Kromestar is a regular at DMZ & Deep Medi nights, and through his DJing and his productions his name has become synonymous with the ever evolving and constantly progressing sound.

Soul Jazz are issuing this seminal super-rare rare-groove album produced by Roy Ayers originally released on his own Uno Melodic label in 1980.


This amazing one-off album produced by Roy Ayers featured the group Eighties Ladies made up of the singing talents of Susan Beaubian, Marva Hicks, Vivian Prince, Denie Corbett & Sylvia Striplin backed by an all-start line-up Roy Ayers band (including Rick James who shares the production).

The anthemic 'Turned on To You" and "Ladies of the Eighties" are both included in this absolutely classic boogie-funk-jazz-soul album from the start of the 80s. Loved by soul boys and jazz heads alike, this is one of the rarest of all classic boogie albums, with original copies fetching upwards of hundreds of pounds for many years now.

Madlib follows 'High Jazz' with the eighth installment of the 'Medicine Show' series, a unique mix of the
multiple facets of jazz music entitled 'Advanced Jazz'.

Even by his own exacting standards, Madlib has been busy this year. While his recorded output always
spans an impressive range of styles, he habitually returns to recurrent themes, like familar harbours in a
vast musical ocean ... and jazz is one such anchor point. 'High Jazz' shows a marked and significant development
in Madlib's craft, encapsulating every element of jazz within an 80-minute opus.

And so what better way to follow such an epic undertaking than with a companion-piece drawn from the
thousands - literally - of jazz albums that inspired Madlib's first forays into the genre~ 'Advanced Jazz',
is, as the title hints, a step (or three, or four) deeper than the Steve Kuhn and Weldon Irvine albums that
he first enjoyed as he began developing the Yesterdays New Quintet project on 2001's 'Angles Without
Edges'.

Some of the music here - at least, to the uninitiated ear - might not seem to be "jazz" at all. But be in
no doubt, this is a jazz mix through and through, as exhilarating a ride as 'Brain Wreck Show' (MMS006)
or 'Flight To Brazil' (MMS002). It is a celebration of this great American music, and while it focuses on
the past 40 years, it clearly heralds every innovation, domestic and international, of this century-old
form.

The 'Diablo Riddim EP' is the third release from Belgrade imprint Svetlana Industries, following well-received vinyl outings already this year by Filtercutter (with Ramadanman refix) and the acclaimed 'Tropics EP' from Teebs and Jackhigh, which drew praise from figures such as Mary Anne Hobbs, Hudson Mohawke, Dorian Concept, and FaltyDL. Where Filtercutter was playful and stripped, and Teebs and Jackhigh between them invoked a hazy otherworldliness and hazy, Serbian producer Piece Of Shh... dials up a direct line to aggressive, dark and focused. Although his will be a new name to most international listeners, this is not POS's first outing on wax, having previously released a 7" on Berlin's Ear Wax label under the name Belgradeyard Soundsystem, which was subsequently featured by Bonobo on a mix for Solid Steel / Ninja Tune. More recently he scored major success as one half of techno duo Cheap'n'Deep, whose 'Words, Breaths And Pauses' 12" put out through Berlin's infamous Hard Wax got onto the playlists of Marcel Dettman, Josh Wink, The Black Dog, Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, and Surgeon. On the original version of 'Diablo Riddim', POS starts with a stiff rhythm reminiscent of Martin Kemp and the Blunted Robots crew, while the synth stabs recall the Berlin-influenced bass sounds of Hot Flush or Martyn. The surprise factor kicks in when he introduces a burbling 303-style acid funk line to take the track into far grimier territory, boogie-backed with brooding aggression and relentless forward motion. Next up comes a remix from Zomby, his first drop since the Actress re-rub back in March. Zomby likes to surprise and this track is no exception, combining his familiar gloopy sounds with that ebbing and flowing beat effect he's made his own, running over a heavily chopped halfstep beat. Spanish producer Hektagon (Z-Audio/Freakz of Nature) puts up probably the most obvious dancefloor banger on the EP, taking the forward drive and gnarly toughness of the original and coupling it with a dubstep shuffle beat. The deeper and tripper he goes, the more he emphasizes the melodic aspects and adds some more of his own, shaping them in a beautifully rounded dynamic to produce a tune that alternates beauty with power in a high energy anthem. Finally, and exclusive to this vinyl release, the last track is two minutes of acid loops at 140bpm to be sampled, scratched or dropped over beats at will. Svetlana Industries releases are mastered and cut at South London's famed Transition Studios, where faultless club sounds have been honed and tempered since before the dawn of time.

Two tracks from Raiden & Khanage that continue the ongoing collaborative partnership between the pair that has seen releases on Renegade Hardware & Offkey- and now its the turn of V002. The tracks have been supported by Doc Scott, dBridge, Loxy, Rockwell, Genotype, Morphy & Data amongst others. Here is the lowdown. Amnesia Haze: The track began life at 2am on a pitch black winters night in Tallinn after Raiden & Khanage had been worked on 'King Stays King' and the 'Mirage Remix'. After a break in studio time listening to Jeff Mills' most abstract works the track began to roll out. Guided by the substance that the track takes its name from the pair wanted to create a brooding, sinister tribal banger- and without a doubt achieved this. Pounding sub bass, rolling percussion and haunting strings all add to the picture, the word Voodoo could not be more any appropriate when it comes to Amnesia Haze. The track ignited the flame that is voodoo music.
8798: Encouraged by the reactions to 'Haze' Raiden & Khanage followed up with 8798- The perfect tune to pair with Haze. The track carries a stark vibe, driven by percussion, tense drum work and accents and effects that further add to the landscape of the track. In contrast to the textures of 'Haze','8798~ carries on a single minded mission. Underpinned by a bass that is 50,000 leagues below- 8798 moves along with weighty confidence as a result of the rumbling frequency. The brief was very clear from the very beginning for these two tracks- to come with something that was unmistakably voodoo, bringing you a complete picture of what the label represents, and without having to put that into anymore words than we have already - We think you know.

'Howard's Note' is an instant classic, Big heavy drums and massive Sub bass drive this monster tune along nicely with some subtle but effective edits keeping the listener intrigued. Using a sample from the Might Boosh this track manages to keep the element of fun alive by putting a smile on your face but still retaining the desired underground vibe. 'Mindless Torture' teases the listener into a false sense of security with its minimal intro, slowly working the elements in one by one until it all comes together in a massive gnarly drop, with huge sub bass and crazy tearing edits making this a solid banger for the heads who want it deep & serious.

Since his first appearance on Nonplus, ASC has been hard at work on his LP and its finally here. Starting with a 12' sampler he dives right in at the deep end with 'Phobos' in which electronic grooves and micro samples entwine against a backdrop of dramatic tones and industrial hits. Followed on the same side by the atmospheric hiatus 'Oort Cloud' you have a good inclination of the impending album by now, but are also treated to the AA-side 'Matter Of Time'. Like a continuation of his debut Nonplus 12' track 'Porcelain', his crafty use of oriental sounding percussion, windlike sounds and melodies combined with an efficacious bass line make this track very hard to listen to in its entirety before you reach for the reset. The album touches on many genres from start to finish such as the 4×4 offering of 'Textura', or the almost indescribable step of 'Yatta', but one common theme that this album holds throughout is the amalgamation of influences derived from all genres of music and ASC's ability to combine these to create something new and unique.

Black Cherry is made up of the writing duo Megane Quashie and Guilhem Fraisse with very different musical background and influences. The two fused together a perfect blend of Electro, dance and rock to make the sound that there called 'Black Cherry'

Black Cherry has played many high profile shows like Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, V Festival, Connect Festival, Balaton Sounds, SXSW, CMJ and many more. The duo has also tour with the likes of Siousix Sioux, The Wombats, Iglu & Hartly and Akala.

Black Cherry continues to develop their sound and have been working on the first physical release with Colin Emmanuel (Beta Band) on ISM Records.

Shortstuff dribbled this EP out of his arse. It took him 12 months - he worried about everything, accomplished nothing, and then called it something stupid. By the end of the process, everybody at RAMP wanted to die. The final result being this crazy ass shaking bossa funk rockabilly jazz dance bomb!

Over on the flip and hailing from Hamburg Germany, Funktomas drops a some what classic B Boy anthem "Shack Up" over some old skool flavour female chants creating a simple but very effective banger! I bet you cant put one of these in your turntable without droppin into the caterpillar!
