Soul Jazz are issuing this super-deep spiritual album from Edward Larry Gordon, AKA Laraaji (Brian Eno collaborator). This 1978 debut album on his own private-press label (SWN Corp) was only ever pressed in 500 copies and has been unavailable for over 30 years.Edward Larry Gordon had his roots in funk and jazz but in the 1970s turned to both transcendental meditation and music to accompany meditation. A chance encounter with Brian Eno led to the release of "Laraaji (a pun on his name) - Days of adiance" for Brian Eno's seminal Ambient series on EG Records in 1980.'Celestial Vibrations' was his first ever album, self-recorded and self-financed.The music is a sublime blend of his jazz musical roots with the hypnotic music created for transcendental meditation - producing one of the deepest, spiritual records you may ever hear in your life!. Laraaji went on to expand his mystical life studying under gurus as Swami Satchidananda and Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, founder of the Ananda Ashram in Monroe, New York.He has released over 50 albums since 'Celestial Vibration' mainly produced solely for use in meditation schools.He is currently a Laughter Master and teaches enlightenment through his 'Laughter Meditation Workshops' which he presents around the world.

How We Roll is the brand new release from Bristols Leisure Allstars, a rip-roaring, funky as hell, bassbin-battering joyride through old school hip-hop to new school beats and tough, reggae bounce, vocalled by New York MCs The Good People.

The original is a low-slung, rolling flute-loop groove, featuring live guitar and keys the perfect accompaniment to Emskee and The Saints tale of how their perfect day in NYC might unfold. In addition to this, the Allstars have remixed their own track, notched up the tempo, and created some kind of electronic boom-bap, bass-heavy monster, demonstrating they can turn their hand to many different styles, much like their DJ sets.

Mr Benns productions have gone from strength to strength over the years, as his recent success in the Ashely Beedle curated, worldwide Horace Andy remix competition rightly proves. This ability, combined with the collaborative inspiration that is Drake Scorpio, is evident on their remix. Its rough an tough, with enough sub bass to shake the foundations of any self-respecting discotheque. We still dont know who Drake Scorpio is though...

By day, Substatic are a Bristol band carving a name for themselves on the live circuit, but by night, when the other band members are sleeping, producer Alex Holmes crafts slices of future funk, fusing hip-hop sensibilities with next level production and serious bassweight aimed straight for the dancefloor. Like his previous remix of The Leisure Allstars track 35 Summers, this one is no exception.

The Leisure Allstars have previously been featured on compilations by Nightmares on Waxs DJ Ease, Azuli, and respected German label Unique as well as picking up strong radio support from Ninja Tunes Solid Steel and 6 Musics Craig Charles. Their track 35 Summers is set to feature on the Big Chill 15 x 15 compilation series in the new year.

Hyperdub has long been a fan of grime don Terror Danjah's razor sharp productions, his unparalleled, skittering rhythm science, deadly riffs, brilliant technicolour synth squiggles, 'gremlin cackle' signature and general ear for a catchy tune. On this first EP for the label, he showcase two strains of his many skills. 'Acid' cranks up the energy, with an ascending synth crashing into stuttering drums and synths. They play hide and seek with each other for a bit, before the track unexpectedly breaks into a 4 / 4 house rhythm, and then shatters into pieces again. On the flipside, 'Pro Plus', Terror is joined by long time collaborator D.O.K for a slice of their classic sound - an infectious, twisted sickly sweet synth melody wrapped around syncopated, stop start drums to mean effect.

The third 12" available seperately from the 'Helisinki Sunshine' LP is the excellent 'Music Is A Feeling', By D-Bex and Physics. Well backed with 'Symbolic' by Kaleb and D-Bex to form a beautiful liquid release. A FREE mix CD of the LP by label owner Basement Phil is attached to this 12".

Candice Monique is a talented & unique vocalist, songwriter and poet whose individual vocal and lyrical style fuses classic and Neo-Soul, Jazz, RnB, Funk, Blues, Folk & Spoken Word. It is this distinctive style along with her stage presence & artistic depth which makes her one of Freestyle Records most exciting & original new artists.

After recording her first demo in Atlanta with producer Professor Griff (Public Enemy) in 2003 and later in New York in 2005 with Jill Scott and Vassy producer, Rich Medina, Candice returned home to Australia and began working on more original material, honing her writing, continuing to perform and refine her already formidable stage craft and the results speak for themselves.

Kicking off her debut album with the sparse, punchy groove of the title track In My Soul, Candice and her band show how the less is more approach can yield fantastic results. The beautiful, mellow and soulful For All Time reaches the parts much contemporary RnB often fails to touch with electric piano and sweet backing vocals providing something akin to a Stax style soul groove.

It is Candices wide ranging influences, from Bill Withers to Skunk Anansie that inform her musical style and on the dance floor filler Feel The Vibe one can really understand that simply recreating old skool sounds is not what Candice is about, this music could only be the product of now, by someone aiming to create quality rather than pastiche.

In My Soul is a strong, confident debut that draws together disparate influences into a well rounded modern sound that bodes well for Candice and her band. This is where the story starts and it is clear that a remarkable new talent is emerging in front of our ears and eyes!
