Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

Remixes by Martyn, Photek, John Talabot + Pional, The Field & Dan Carey.^
Chairlift present takes on several cuts from acclaimed second album Something by some of their favorite producers, showcasing how their songs can easily be adapted for the club.
Appropriately titled the 6.15AMix,Spanish equipo fantástico John Talabot and Pional turn I Belong In Your Arms into a balearica-infused club-closer. A nifty piano line and seductive rhythm take the song on a late night (or rather early morning) trip to the beach, while Caroline's voice is being warped into something from outer space. Photek takes the same track to a whole different place with his powerful jungle interpretation.

Existence is Resistance are pleased to announce the remastered re-release of Same People's legendary proto-garage classic 'Dangerous'.
Lovingly remastered at AIR studios in London by the master masterer Matt Colton and featuring remixes by two of the originators of the
scene, 'Persian and DJ Texsta' who both have long and rich histories in the Drum and Bass, UK Garage and House scenes. Rounding
off the package is long time friend and cohort Nick Dunton of 65D Mavericks and Surface Records fame dropping in from the techno
scene with his jazzed out liquid mix.

It's been 17 years since Dangerous was first released on the 'Same People' record label. It went on to have a huge influence on the fledgling Dubstep/Grime scene with its heady mixture of rolling basslines, ragga influences and fat beats that many an MC were eager to rhyme over.

The Original mix was written on the Commodore Amiga with only 2 megabytes at it's disposal, proving that a million dollar studio isn't
necessary to create timeless records. Dangerous quickly blew up on the emerging UK Garage circuit immediately after the very first
run of white labels, which were delivered by hand to the then vibrant record stores dotted throughout London, and went on to make
appearances on over 30 different compilations along the way. The original white label mix is now available for the very first time in 17
years, remastered and remixed on limited vinyl for your listening pleasure.

Persian's 2012 re-fix updates the original beautifully, with some of the heaviest bass you could wish to hear on a rig, whilst delicately
balancing glorious detroit tinged strings and rolling drums. DJ Texsta's mix is a solid peak time UK funky / post dubstep classic in the
making - all swirling effects, vocal samples and of course the all important bass! Nick Dunton's liquid mix harks back to the early
90's with lush strings, a wonderfully chopped up break, jazzy keys and a super low frequency bass that hint to influences from
Carl Craig to Bukem and beyond.

With all the mixes receiving heavy rotation amongst the main players across scenes, this is vintage stuff, repackaged, and remixed for 2012....

Dont sleep on this !

nother choice find for Rag & Bone in the form of promising up and coming Bristol based producer Riffs. A fine debut with 4 tracks of Sci-fi sounding, twisted bass music, infused with elements of garage, funky and electro like no other. His tracks have been causing a bit of a sensation on Soundcloud over the last year particularly since Swamp 81 picked up on his work and gave him props. Riff's tracks display a deft application of unconventional drum patterns, basslines to make you move, infectious melodies and space age vocal manglings that make for a trademark sound. Elusive and only 23, he grew up in a musical household with a father a London punk and a mother a Polish accordion player. That combined with growing up on a diet of underground music provided by the Bristol club scene and sound system parties of the South-West, this has got Riff's to where he is at.Distal - 'Wow. Some SERIOUS original music here. So refreshing.'Chrissy Murderbot - 'this is f**king fantastic!'Kalbata - 'These tunes are absolute bullets'

With two No.1 singles, two sold out UK live tours and over 1 million sales, Fresh aka Dan Stein is leading the new wave of British dance artists who are spearheading 'generation bass', the UK's biggest youth music explosion since acid house. 'Nextlevelism' is Fresh's third studio album and the release that will cement his place in electronic music history.

Armed with the first No.1 singles in both drum & bass and dubstep, plus past hits 'Gold Dust' and 'Lassitude' (cumulative Youtube views now over 60 million), Fresh continues to push the boundaries of both genres with a full live band and stunning light show. Fresh is on keyboards, joined by Kodish (drums), Richard De Rosa (guitarist), Fleur on vocals and Messy MC.
Fresh's career to date includes being a principal member of d&b legends, Bad Company, label boss for the Breakbeat Kaos imprint (which helped break Pendulum) along with working with artists ranging from the Pet Shop Boys to DJ Shadow. Breaks and hip-hop producer Ninelives The Cat comes through with this nagging slice of solid production and catchy vocals in the form of "LaLaLa". The chorus hook will claw into your head like the feline in control, while the choppy funk licks that make up the beat will find a comfortable home on dancefloors all over. On the remix tip, Funkanomics bring an uptempo 80s flavour with filtered guitars and brash drum machine beats, while DJ Alias does a more subtle turn in tightening up the groove of the original. Will Styles rounds things off with an electro-indebted workout full of chunky synths and club-ready construction

The main tune, from Fire At Work, is a 140 BPM dub Breabeat, very organic and musical. Bringing a total Mystic Ambiance.... Then comes 2 remixes, one from Darcangelo, deeping the sound into IDM breakz, and one from Somatic Responses and carry a loud Breakcore dancefloor jewel

Reissue of obscure Chicago EP that slots into the Muzik Box scene (big Ron Hardy fave). Early 80s synth pop w/new wave vox on the minimal wave tip.

BadboE is back with the second EP from his upcoming album Pump Up The Funk coming out in the end of 2012. 4 brand new hot funky jams from the funk master himself - all mixed up and road-tested to perfection. Following up on the success of his One of Those Days EP which has topped the breakbeat charts on both digital and physical format.
BadboE is one of the key players in the nu funk scene and with this release he is stepping well into the world of Ghetto bass and electro vibes, but without loosing the funk and soul that he's so respected and loved for. This release is already getting support from some of the major players in the Ghetto Funk scene and has been very well received on a recent BadboE tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Remixes from "Into Bass And Time" Kabanjak, Subatomic Sound System, Deela, J-Boogie, Maker. That's a full slate of funked up boom bap, epic drum heavy rockers, up-tempo broken beat, lush Latin flavors, + bonus Maker instrumental.

Of all of the personalities to emerge from the Mutek affiliated Montreal electronic music scene which exploded onto the global stage at the turn of the millennium Scott Monteith, better known to audiences worldwide as Deadbeat, has unquestionably shown himself to be its most prolific and restless spirit. Through a steady stream of critically acclaimed singles and 7 studio albums for labels such as ~Scape, Echocord, Wagon Repair and most recently his own BLKRTZ imprint, and his genre defining Radio Rothko mix, which drew comparisons to some of the greatest mix CDs of all time (Richie Hawtin's Decks, EFX & 909 : Jeff Mills's Live at the Liquid Room), Monteith has established himself as perhaps Dub Techno's greatest champion. Yet anyone intimately familiar with said catalog could rightly accuse even that lofty title of being an over simplification. In a genre dominated by stoic reverence to the creative framework laid down by Mark Ernestus and Mortiz Von Oswald's Basic Channel and related projects of the mid 90s, Monteith has consistently charted his own course over the last 13 years, tearing up and re-writing the rule book several times over. Having burrowed to the very deepest depths of echo and dread of the Jamaican variety with last year's hypnotic Drawn and Quartered album, Deadbeat once again sets sail into uncharted waters with his latest hour long salvo, humbly entitled Eight.

BBP Recordings is very proud to welcome back a true legend in the evergrowing Nu-Funk scene - BadboE is ready to drop the first single from his long anticipated second album. He has teamed up with 2 heavyweighters of bassdriven Ghetto Funk Pimpsoul from the UK and Bryx, who are killing dancefloors in Canada at the moment. UK-based MC Coppa is delivering the vocal contribution to the reggae dub grooves on the A-side title track One of Those Days.

Finnish DJ crew Rollomatik break out on the Boogie Boutique imprint with a two track release that aims to represent the Arctic Circle fully in the nu funk/breakbeat scene. Formed of Hesh & Eaves, Rollomatik aim to rock the party and that much is evident on this cheeky 12" with "We Love To Party" deftly blending Will Smith with Chic amidst a melange of other recognisable samples. A similar approach runs through flipside jam "The Greatest" as Rollomatik lay down the vocal from an oft used Q-Tip solo joint over a heavily filtered take on Sister Sledge's most ubiquitous track.

This release comes complete with artwork designed and hand printed by Eveson himself, and also includes an exclusive 12" screen print. This is strictly limited to 300 individually numbered copies. Early support from Fabio on BBC Radio 1, Bailey and Crissy Criss on 1Xtra, Bryan Gee, DJ Marky and more....

The legendary 'Freakazoids' return to the 808 to bring back their own slice of Electro Funk. 'The Freakazoids' is the Brainchild of Lee Coombs, Nick Slater and Lanx (later two both of Shades of Rhythm fame) who came together through their love of Old Skool Electro Funk and Hip Hop and released a string of underground records in the late Nineties. After a ten year break and working on other projects the boys have decided to collaborate again and bring back the Funk.

'Freakazoid Experiments' is a brand new track that delivers the Old Skool Electro Boogie with a modern twist.
'What is a DJ 2012' is a new remake if one of their biggest tracks also aimed squarely at the dancefloor.
Oh yeah, don't forget your Kangol Bucket...
