If you like the sound of "cheap" analog synthesizers from the mid 80s, drum machines and strangely pitched human voices this might be the record for you. A small warning about the quite melodic and poppy arrangement, it is not minimal, nor pure drones. Sorry. Estelle EP has nothing to do with the car äkoda Estelle, even though some instruments used on the songs were produced during the same years. Estelle EP is more or less a result of the new Kranglan Broadcast hardware studio environment. The plan was simple: to get rid of the machines that were not being used and to make the rest communicate with each other. This resulted in some very fine jams where realtime feelings and spontaneous ideas were converted into music. Each track is its own moment in time.

The second release from DJ Die's Gutterfunk multi-genre label is a double A side that further reveals the young label's personality.

Iron Curtis - Soft Wide Waist Band (Text: Gerd Janson) As we all know, there is a first time for everything. In this case, it's even a debut for both: the Tensnake co-run label Mirau and Iron Curtis. 'Soft Wide Waist Band' is Curtis' entrance into the world of long players and the first of its kind for the Hamburg imprint that fittingly put the producer on the map with his 'Solgerhood EP' in 2009. Three years and a string of releases on Retreat, Kolour, Mule Electronic, remixes for Jacob Korn, Ripperton or Mano Le Tough and a move to Berlin later, Johannes Paluka alias Iron Curtis has matured enough as a producer to take on the heavy burden of a 'house music' album - if you want to call it like that at all.

Maayan Nidamís second album New Moon has many different levels. Stylistically, the Berlin-based producer has created an 11
track collection of alternative electronic rhythms that combines everything from blissful broken beat, to surrealist electro, jazz-
influenced moments, acidic house, exploratory techno, and piano interludes.Psychologically though, there is much more
going on. Clearly unfazed by constructing a bigger, more audacious picture, Nidam links her many different artist desires on this
album through cyclical electronic expressionism. The album is expansive. Disparate influences and eras are joined together
through a subtle interplay of contrast and tone. The beats, repetition and some occasional fruity whistle stops make the journey
absorbing and multi-dimensional.

Sam Russo's hunger to spread his ideas globally is driven by an open minded approach to the floor. Sam's take on electronic music is rooted in the smooth rhythms of US house and garage, tempered by the expansive deepness of Basic Channel and Maurizio. He is currently expressing these ideas through his own solo productions and a prolific series of studio partnerships.

Starting off at the age of 18 in London's east end, Sam cut his teeth on the Shoreditch circuit, with gigs at spots like Cargo, Herbal. After a move to Southampton he became resident at the city's notorious Junk Club. Here he gained the invaluable experience of setting the atmosphere at heavyweight parties like Cocoon and Circo Loco.

A laid back character, Russo is equally at home in the tranquil surrounds of Bournemouth or in the hustle of London. At both of these bases he has forged strong relationships with a pair of the UK's current hot properties. On the south coast with Tsuba artist Huxley and in the capital Leftroom boss Matt Tolfrey.

Keen to shed the reserve that many engineers feel when experimenting with new ideas and techniques, his reputation spread quickly. Soon a friendship was struck with Craig Richards, and their studio partnership is now bearing fruit. Red hot productions will soon drop from an as-yet unnamed new imprint conceived by the pair.

The legendary Fabric residents out of the box ideas are nurturing ideas in Russo far beyond his years. As well as absorbing the creativity of the Fabric resident in the studio it would be impossible for young producer not to take on board Richards' gospel behind the decks.

Russo prides himself on finding unique tracks no one has heard of or played before. With an attitude that keeps alive the true spirit of DJ'ing, he thrives on building up a track library on both vinyl and digital. Able to blend both old and new, his ever expanding appreciation of music and rhythm gives him the edge as he continues to build his burgeoning reputation.

The last Siriusmo release, the 42 track compilation "Pearls & Embarassments: 2000-2010" (MTR13CD), has been released almost a year ago, just shortly after the critically acclaimed debut album "Mosaik" (MTR10CD). In the past months Siriusmo has locked himself into the studio to work on a new album. No gigs, no releases. Silence. Bristol born Keiren Lomax (aka) Komonazmuk formally part of Ice Minus started producing as Komonazmuk in 2006 and has released on some of the biggest independent labels in the scene to date including H.E.N.C.H, Tempa, Apple Pips, Combat & Metal Headz to name a few. He's also produced remixes for the likes of Bonobo, My My & Emika, Side Show and Paul Woolford. Keiren featured on the Bristol rise up special with Mary Ann Hobbs on BBC radio 1 and can be found DJ'ing across the globe.Komazmuk 'Underground is my take on B Boy styles, when I started to write the track I already had the vocal in my head, this helped on building the rhythm and melody. Growing up listening & playing on pirate radio was the main link to the samples, in respect to how pirate radio has had a big roll within UKunderground music, I knew as soon as the track was complete what kinda remix i was after. Paul's remix is exactly that. A percussive Stripped back, moody full of bass workout. Pretty much as far underground as you can go.'

JFB steps up for his first release on Disco Cakes, the aptly named Fizzy Bubla EP.

Brighton's JFB is a scratch DJ and party starter extraordinaire who won the UK DMC Championship in 2007 and 2011. Yet unlike many turntablists, JFB also knows when to stop beatjuggling and start dropping bombs " ultimately, it's all about making the people dance. This is an artist who's fully immersed in bass culture.

First, I'd like to thank you all for your support in 2011. I didn't know what to expect when I decided to start things, but I've been stoked and humbled by the response thus far.

'Modern Underground Music' is a collection of tracks culled from many corners of the underground. Hopefully the first in a series. I want to feature a cross-section of genres, with a slew of new artists you might not be familiar with. I guess I could go the easy route and sign tracks from C2, CVS, etc. But that's not really what B/C is about......Tracklisting is as follows:

1. 'Through The Galaxies' - A funky cosmic ride...I came up with the vocals after a weekend that included a lot of Sun Ra...Won't you come with me

2. 'Chasing Rainbows' - By the mysterious yet familiar Fhloston Paradigm. A tune that is as amazing as it is short in duration. Sci-Fi vibes.

3. 'Impressed To Dress' - I found this cat on Soundcloud! Amazing musician, following in my boy Tanner Ross' footsteps over at Berklee School of Music.

4. 'Ritual Business' - Bonus track from The Carter Bros! Couldn't fit this one onto their amazing 'Wild Cats' EP so here you have it.

5. 'The Draconian Hybrids' - From New York's Kuru. This track belongs on the future soundtrack to the movie, 'Prometheus.' Deep, melodic and so weird!
