Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

The OG Oxford hardcore junglist duo know as Total Science are back with a follow up to their 2009 Clearskyz release; which saw them team up with S.P.Y and Riya to deliver the beautiful 'Testimony'. This one comes with more dirt than an East Enders Christmas special. 'Dramaz' go's straight to the middle of the beef and gets stuck in.

One of the most enduring labels in Drum and Bass, V Recordings history is inseparabl with the sun-soaked sounds of Brazil. After label boss Bryan Gee saw a young DJ Marky play in his hometown, a chain reaction was started that would result in a new age of Drum and Bass, with V and artists such as DJ Marky, XRS and Patife bringing a brand new sound back to the UK.

From The Shadows is Black Sun Empire's fifth studio album, the follow up to 2010's incredibly successful Lights & Wires, an album which showcased the Dutch trio's diversity and ability to bring a fresh take on all forms of bass music.

From The Shadows is Black Sun Empire's fifth studio album, a high energy, high quality follow-up to 2010's Lights nad Wires packed with 170bpm plus beats, gut-wrenching basslines and a decidedly exciting take on the drum n bass formula. From The Shadows features collaborations with mau5trap signed MC group Foreign Beggars, New Zealand singer-songwriter Thomas Oliver, Czech cinematic scorer Rido, fellow Dutch DNB stars Noisia and more. This is an unbending, unapologetic, fully charged album that's infused with dark and brooding atmospheres.

A compilation of astounding quality and scope, the 'Purple Sky' EP selects a few of the peak talents
on French imprint IM:Ltd's books, mirroring influences and reflecting sounds throughout a wide open spectrum of deep and forward thinking drum and bass.
Introducing this Ep, Berlin best kept secret Es.Tereo opens up with the eponymous 'Purple Sky',
which scatters lovingly produced drums over a warmly resonating backdrop of ebullient synths as an invitingly close bass moves cautiously underneath. Textures, textures, textures.
Then Gunston's 'Transition' kicks off this EP, full of his usual sleight of hand and dark moments as
eerie vocals smoothly blend with the top end, creating a feeling of weightless rolling bass being held down by a whirring frenetic-hi hat.
On disc 2, Ukrainian lone wolf Hibea steps it up with the dark and menacingly minimal 'Ellipse', tying
the EP back down to earth with scummy, carbon-black bass. Adding sparse percussion enough to
diffuse that claustrophobic bassline, 'Ellipse' is a nasty bastard you don't want to meet out late at
night.
Taking up the mantle for the flip, the obscenely prolific Nuage performs his own brand of crystal-clear
miracles on the DnB genre with 'Above Time'. Soaring and light with an effortless feeling of space,
it's unmistakeably Nuage right down to that sustained glide of synth and deliciously tampered-with vocal snatches.
In addition to this copious tracklist, you'll find nothing less than two digital bonus tracks: 'Lonely' from
the hottest rookie of the year Gerwin and 'In This Life', another smasher from our Belgian favorite
Atmospherix.

Morgan Zarate's second release for Hyperdub is a bold and unexpected move for him. He's been known in the past as the producer for leftfield soul group Spacek and also currently as one half of The Shining, signed to XL Records, but with 'Broken Heart Collector' he's made some highly contagious dubstep pop, featuring rising singer / songwriter / producer Stevie Neale on vocals. Stevie warns of a guy who is the titular 'Broken Heart Collector'. Her RnB vocals contrast with a fierce storm of drums and vertiginous synths that attack like waves against rocks. It's a brilliant pop song, with a chorus earworm you might find hard to resist. There is also an instrumental included as well. The third track is 'Crey Bey', an energetic, grimy 8 bar instrumental. It shifts between dive-bombing synths and a spooked, nervous melody over a rich organ track, with martial kicks and snares guaranteed to get you bouncing.

The 3rd release on Axe Gabba Records by The Axe Gabba Murda Mob is a fact! Once again total oblivion by the mob in the form of 4 skull crumbling tracks. The head hit Axe Gabba Mental Murda Beatz, Blood Languange, Skoro Budo and Bullet Proof Bitch take the meaning of high quality alpha
hardcore to the next level. Next level stuff!
The A-side hosts Axe Gabba Mental Murda Beatz and Blood Languange. The A1 track is pure carnage.
Blistering that easily pound their way through any brick wall or bunker. Play this on a party and the result is total bonkers: people going wild, arms, legs and other body parts flight through the room and exploding heads due to massive ear pressure, this track is hard to handle, in the good sense of the word! Blood Language is an awesome broken hardcore track representing straight up Axe Gabba
street culture. A wicked a side!
The B-Side, if you can even call it a B-Side, continues where the A-Side left off. Straight up dancefloor
destruction with Skoro Budo and Bullet Proof Bitch. Fast kickdrums, blistering breaks, wikid scratches combined with gangsta vocals set foot for yet another classic Axe Gabba Murda Mob release. Extremely limited once again, we expect this release to go very fast. Order now!

The flip sees Tokyo's Heavy1 fresh from his excellent album on Rubik to take control with a minimal 2 step track that builds with electrifying FX and a growling bassline to suit. Both tracks have seen support from some of the scenes biggest tastemakers, with Andy C, Klute, Rockwell and Kasra all spinning regularly in their sets over the last few months.

Ulterior Motive Versus EP Part 1 Vinyl comes with full colour sleeve. Whether James Davidson and Greg Hepworth have an ulterior motive is debatable. Their motive, however, is unwavering, intentional and fortunately well received. Infiltrating the drum and bass scene in in the early noughties, the UK duo combined their hand-built studio with modern production methods allowing them to tap into a unique brand of high-tech basslines and fortified funk. Thecollaborations nearly always come around through friendships and mutual respect for what each other is about musically.
