Death Is Not The End
Cassette23.11.201823.NOV.18

Hip-HopR & B

A collection of Jamaican doo wop & R&B records taken from the late 50s and early 60s. These records represent a period in which soundsystems were just starting to dominate the island, with Duke Reid and Sir Coxsone stepping up their rivalry by beginning to make and release their own records rather than rely on US imports for use in their dances. Many of these records are definitely more-or-less imitations of the American records, as the uniquely Jamaican ska sound was yet to take hold - however many of the future stars of ska, rocksteady and reggae were beginning to cut their teeth in the industry on these records, incl. Jimmy Cliff, Derrick Harriott, Alton Ellis and more, and they provide a unique view into the fledgling independent record industry culture in Jamaica that would prove to be unbelievably proflific and unparalleled for an island of it's size.

ALSTON
7"-Vinyl18.08.202018.AUG.20

HouseDiscoHip-HopFunk

Wow, this one's a biggie! Some smoothed out modern Soul for the discerning right here... dig it!
Released in 1980 Charles Johnson's ‎"Baby I Cried, Cried, Cried / Never Had A Love So Good" is a formidable double-sider, the A-side is a sweet slow jam where Charles lays it on the line in true grown man's fashion over a slick backdrop that is not a million miles away from some Philly style loving. The B-side is the big one though, a proper modern dancer, lovely production and the band is fully in the pocket. Drop this one and watch the dance light up, real music for the dancefloor! This particular 45 has long been a collectors item, and on a good day it can fetch hundreds on the Soul scene. This is a fully legit reissue, and features the classic golden Alston label artwork. A truly beautiful record, with each side primed to be played at the right time. Don't sleep!

Released with love and respect by: Above Board and TK Disco, Miami FL. 2020.

Emotional Rescue
12inch26.06.202026.JUN.20

HouseBalearicHip-HopDownbeat

Emotional Rescue is proud to reissue a collection of global music band, International Noise Orchestra, presented across 4 special EPs.

Founded when Berlin based musician Ulrich Hornberg mixed a newly acquired Commodore 64 with visiting Algerian drummer Jol Allouche's tablas "old culture meets new technology" the fundamentals were laid. Simple, maybe naive, with a curiosity to combine and inspire. 'The means of production must belong to the workers', investing in a studio, label and publishing house allowed INO the adventure to record what they wanted, a project via 'gastes', taking their influences and culture, in a melting pot of eastern melodies, african percussion, jazz, soul, dub, and pop an orchestra not of size, but of different playing styles and idiosyncratic interpretations.

Old meets new starts with their cover of Gimme Your Lovin, taking Winwood's classic and molding a white funk, pop, rock, dance hybrid, with enigmatic actor / singer Richard Strange's distinctive poetic delivery. Following Dr. Sarmaz, released under INO's alias - Internationales Gerauschorchester - the global dance vibrations begin.

Feel It Flow is pure 80's dance pop, with Glynnis Thomas (Savage Progress) distinctive tones leading to the jazz fusion of Atai, before closing with the guitar / synth / tabla rhythms of Culture Rescue Service.

ULURU001
Uluru
12inch29.06.202029.JUN.20

Hip-HopReggae

Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation in Australia. It's sacred to the Anangu, the local Indigenous of the area. For many years it had been deprived of its spiritual significance, due to mass tourism, capitalism, as well as greedy and selfishness of people who just want to make money out of it. However, as a result of the Anangu’s resilience, care and staunchness, huge changes took place in the national park around Uluru as well as in the broader public's consciousness, giving again to the Uluru the sacred identity that had been lost. You might be reading and thinking now: so what's the point? Actually, there's no real point. I would rather say, there’s hope. The hope of seeing humans all around the world following the example of the Anangu. The hope of seeing humans finally stopping to treat the earth and all what’s part of it, what’s on and what’s in it, as a slave without soul. The hope of changing today, and if not today at latest by tomorrow. This system is failing. It's no longer sustainable, and there's not much time left. So everybody, don't sleep, be critic.

Jennifer Lara - Weekend Loving
JAMWAXLP04

2x12inch15.03.201815.MAR.18

Hip-HopReggaeReggae-Dub

Reissue of Lara's 1985 album with 2 added bonus tracks, a great blend of boogie funk, roots reggae and lovers rock here. Pressed on a double 12'' and cut at 45rpm..
.
Produced by Black Solidarity Records in 1985, this album is a masterpiece from the Studio One princess. Recorded at Tuff Gong and Music Mountain studios in Jamaica, the rhythm tracks are played by some of the best musicians from the island in the sun: Lincoln 'Style' Scott (Drum), Errol 'Flabba' Holt (Bass), Robbye Lyn (Piano & Synthetiser), Dean Frazer & Ronald 'Nambo' Robinson (Horns). This reissue was carefully remastered from Black Solidarity master tape, now presented as a double LP 45 rpm DJ friendly edition. The original Limonious artwork was reloaded and a bonus track was added to complete the set: 'In My Time', an obscure slow synth groove, full of hope and melancholy.

Jennifer Lara was first taken to Studio One in 1969 by keyboardist Richard Ace, who was a session musician. She never left the Studio One family and became resident harmonist. She added backing vocals to the songs of some of the camp's biggest names, including Delroy Wilson, Freddie McGregor, Dennis Brown and Sugar Minott. In 1974, Jennifer Lara recorded her debut album with Coxsone Dodd at Studio One in Brentford Road. The results of the sessions appeared on 'Studio One Presents Jennifer Lara', which was an instant success. Jennifer Lara was one of Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd's protégés. One year after Coxsone passed, she died at the Kingston Public Hospital. She is survived by two children, daughter Ika and son Cheka. Jennifer Lara was a very likeable person, got on with everyone. She was involved in many benefit concerts to help to poor and the needy in Jamaica.

Ultramagnetic MC’s - Ego Tripping
MRB7165
Mr Bongo
7"-Vinyl25.06.202025.JUN.20

Hip-HopHip-HopRap

Melvin Bliss’ iconic ‘Synthetic Substitution’ (1973) has been sampled hundreds of times. Gracing records from Naughty by Nature’s ‘O.P.P’ to Public Enemy’s ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’, it’s one of the foundations of hip-hop. However, there’s a school of thought that says the sample could have been retired forever after Ced Gee used it for ‘Ego Tripping’. It was the first song to use those wonderful Bernard Purdie drums, and arguably the best.

Their first release on Next Plateau Records, this instant 1986 classic slams from the first bar, that hard-as-hell beat underpinned by stabs and the breathy ‘ultra-magnetic-magnetic’ chant beneath. Meanwhile, Ced and future legend Kool Keith go to town with pseudo-science and a thinly veiled diss of Run DMC – ‘Say what, Peter Piper, to hell with childish rhymes’. It’s a song shot through with promise they’d more than fulfil on their debut album, 1988’s landmark ‘Critical Beatdown’.

The flip, ‘Funky Potion’, doesn’t coalesce with quite the same genius but is still more than a curio, with the MC’s doubling down on their futuristic nonsense approach to lyricism. Rufus Thomas’ ‘Do the Funky Penguin’ is the base for yet more stabs, discordant scratches and a kitchen-sink approach that shows just innovative the group were prepared to be.

Never before released before on 7”, this undeniable hip-hop classic comes complete with bespoke hype stickers incorporating one of the great rap logos of all time.

Ultramagnetic MC’s - Give the Drummer Some
MRB7166
Mr Bongo
7"-Vinyl25.06.202025.JUN.20

Hip-HopHip-HopRap

The late engineer and producer Paul C’s fingerprints are all over this single from Ultramagnetic MC’s, perhaps the defining release of their career. While earlier records gave notice of their strange and unique talents, they were loveably messy affairs. This, however, is the real deal, as polished as their early sound would ever be.

‘Give the Drummer Some’ grabs a fistful of different elements – from James Brown, Dee Felice Trio and James Brown – but bends them to its own purpose. This is a song with a momentum of its own and endlessly quotable lyrics. One of which, of course, was sampled by The Prodigy – huge hip-hop fans – for ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ in 1997. The now hugely rare 7” of ‘Give the Drummer Some’ edits this out to make it more radio-friendly, but this reissue reverses that cut, giving you the original lyrics. If anyone knows why Kool Keith also changes the word ‘rappers’ to ‘monkeys’ for that edit, answers on a postcard…

The brilliant B-side harks back to the time when every group had a song dedicated to their DJ. ‘Moe Luv’s Theme’ sees Kool Keith at his most straightforward, singing the praises of the turntable skills of Moe Luv. It would be throwaway were it not for the effortless repurposing of Jackie Robinson’s oft-sampled ‘Pussyfooter’. That – and the presence of one of the world’s great MC’s at the height of his powers – elevates it far above a footnote.

Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band - My Jamaican Dub / The Healer
BCR097
Big Crown Records
7"-Vinyl15.06.202015.JUN.20

Hip-HopReggae

Steel drum cover of Grace Jones. Steel drum cover of Erykah Badu. Third full length album coming in 2021. Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band is back with another crushing two-sider that is guaranteed to set dancefloors on fire and get heads nodding around the globe. The mysterious steel pan outfit hailing from Hamburg, Germany has become a staple in DJ sets from Europe to Japan, from the US to Brasil, and anywhere else these tunes have found their way to speakers. They have released a slew of classic 7”s and two critically acclaimed full length albums. With that they have set a high bar for themselves, one clearly they intend on pushing higher with this new offering. Side A is BRSB’s take on Grace Jones’ nightclub classic “My Jamaican Guy”. They take the tune to a new height from the first beat, laying down an infectious groove that will get people out of their seats immediately. Heavy duty drums and bass shake the speakers through the intro then the pans reveal what they are covering as they play the instantly recognizable top line of the original. Rhythm guitar, heavily echoed percussion hits, and the different pan sets all combine to make this yet another instant classic from Bacao. BRSB has received a lot of praise for their choices of covers. Occasionally reworking hits, but, most notably pulling the album cut gems from artists typically more championed by the underground. Well...here they go again, covering Erykah Badu’s homage to the late great J Dilla “The Healer”. This is the type of thing to make Spice Adams jump on his kitchen counter and scream. From the instant this comes on, necks will be snapping and faces will scrunch up as they take the original beat produced by Madlib and give it a run for its money. Shaking subwoofers with the eerie tremolo bass they replay E. Badu’s vocal melodies on the pans adding their own flourishes. Glockenspiel plays the downbeat and a clap like thunder keeps the two-step swaying, all coming together to make this another must have two-sider from Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band

HouseDetroitHip-HopAfrobeat

Thatmanmonkz returns after his critically acclaimed and just damn good 2nd LP 'Non Zero Sum Game' with a heavyweight remix package !!

Favourite LP cut 'Them Thangs' anchors the EP, with Detroit superhero Waajeed laying down a typically high class interpretation, trademark Dirt Tech vibes abound, with equal parts motor city machine soul and tough rhythms taking the original straight to the floor.
Talking of which, the OG Dubstramental concentrates the irresistible groove into an effortlessly fierce afro-centric House jam.

After the PPF crew submitted their tearaway rewire of one of the LP's tougher moments 'Freaks 'N Prophets' its place on this 12 was assured.
A Chicago style slammer that extends and leans into the powerhouse groove with a nod to the forefathers.
Finally, a previous digital release highlight (which got a lot of love) finishes off the EP, a flute-laden romp for dancin' close.

Re issue of Timmy Thomas's long sought after "Afrcaino" 12" excavated from the deepest realms of the TK Disco vaults.

When it comes to this Deep Disco cut, Africano is one of those tracks that became a dancefloor favorite of Danielle Baldelli who during the 80s played Disco, African records, American R&B, and reggae to create what has been since become known as the Afro-Cosmic scene at the height of Club culture in the discotheques of Northern Italy.

Ultramagnetic MC’s - Travelling at the Speed of Thought
MRB7164
Mr Bongo
7"-Vinyl25.06.202025.JUN.20

Hip-HopHip-HopRap

Let’s be honest – the first time many of us heard the otherworldly talents of the Ultramagnetic MC’s was on a compilation. A smattering of singles in 1986 had barely registered beyond a small circle in New York, but the inclusion of the 1987 single ‘Travelling at the Speed of Thought’ on Street Sounds’ ‘Hip Hop Electro 16’ set, sandwiched between classics from MC Shy D and Just-Ice, was a watershed moment.

In a way, it’s their most atypical release. The deceptively simple combination of drums ‘borrowed’ from The Rolling Stones and a scratched hook from The Kingsmen’s definitive version of Richard Berry’s ‘Louie Louie’ is one thing. The simple by their standards vocals, however, render it into a loveable pastiche of rock-rap, a more esoteric equivalent of Run DMC’s ‘Walk This Way’.
The flip is more in keeping with their style both on their earlier ‘Ego Tripping’ single and the soon-to-arrive landmark classic album ‘Critical Beatdown’. Over some heavily chopped drums from erstwhile breakbeat classic ‘Apache’ by the Incredible Bongo Band, Ced Gee and Kool Keith showcase flows that were different from anything out there at the time.

‘M.C.’s Ultra (Part II Edit)’ is part brag-rap, part baffling science lecture. Leaning heavily on the thesaurus, it’s a slang heavy manifesto that elevated the boast rap to the next level. While Kool Keith would go on to be the group’s breakout star, this is a showcase for the whole collective, right down to DJ Moe Love’s slithery scratching sliding from one channel to the next.

Only previously released in the UK as a 7” that’s now very hard to source, this is a chance to re-embrace this breakthrough from a legendary group.

Trizz - The Basement

Hip-HopRapHip-Hop

"I've taken you up to "The Attic", showed you around and introduced you to a few of the homies. Now I'm going to take you through The Basement, it gets real spooky down here." Inland Empire/Los Angeles emcee, Trizz is readying the follow up to his 2018 album "The Attic". To be released via Below System Records on March 15th, "The Basement" is another tour through the same little house of horrors.

Claustrophobic trap drums, skittery synth tones and snatches of horns, strings and vocal samples are the backdrop for Trizz's "been there, done that" vocal tone. Autobiographical tales of love gone wrong, romances with illicit substances and street life operas are swept up in a dark hallucinogenic haze of gore and seen through a cold and distorted glass bottle full of lean.

Speaking on his musical themes, the emcee revealed "I believe in the afterlife, hell and heaven, demons and angels. The horror in my music comes from a real place including things I've seen as well as nightmares and visions I have had." Long haunted by those visions, Trizz began self-releasing projects in his teens (including his early and equally grim break-through release, "Case 17"). "The Basement" marks his 9th solo project.

Joining him on this latest entry of tales from the hood are co-hosts Rittz (formerly of Strange Music), T.F, Roc$tedy, Xavier and Audio Push. Some of his past work includes collaborations with G Perico, Rob $tone, Bizarre (D12) and Brotha Lynch Hung.

Production on "The Basement" are done by Stone's Neighbor, Oh Gosh Leotus, SexCurryBeats, C. Ray, Audio King, DJ Rybe and Beatnick Dee.

In addition to his voluminous solo work, Trizz has released several weed-centric EP's and albums with Sacramento emcee Chuuwee (including "AmeriKKa's Most Blunted" 1, 2 and 3, the "Two Puff Pass" EP and "The Smoke Out" EP) with a bulk of the production handled by AC3Beats. The duo have completed numerous tours together.

Jackie Mittoo and The Soul Brothers - Last Train To Skaville
SJRLP80
Soul Jazz Records
2x12inch15.01.201915.JAN.19

Hip-HopReggae

Jackie Mittoo is one of the most important artists in the history of Jamaican music. As founding member of the legendary Skatalites, as in-house arranger/producer at Studio One and as a solo artist in his own right leading groups such as The Soul Brothers, Sound Dimension and Soul Vendors.

These classic and rare recordings were made in the mid 1960's at Studio One. The Soul Brothers bridged the gap between Ska and the arrival of Rocksteady mixing it all up with Funk, Jazz and Latin styles. The Soul Brothers recorded at Studio One between 1965-1967. This was the transitionary period between Ska and Rocksteady where the music was a mixture of Funk, Latin and Jazz sometimes with a reminder of Ska and the hint of Rocksteady.

The previous era of Ska had been dominated by the Skatalites, the first in-house band at Studio One who created classic hits such as "Guns of Navaronne", "Man in the Street", "El Pussy Cat" and many more. Unfortunately the strong personalities in the group meant that The Skatalites stayed together for less than two years. It was also around this time that the mentally unwell Don Drummond was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, the dancer Margerita.

In August 1965, barely a week after the demise of the original Skatalites, The Soul Brothers (featuring ex-Skatalites members Jackie Mittoo, Roland Alphonso, Johnny Moore and Lloyd Brevitt) were up and running as the new house band at Studio One.

The Soul Brothers were essentially a collective, releasing material under their own name or under a nominal leader (usually Jackie Mittoo or Rolando Alphonso). The group line-up changed over time with Bobby Ellis (trumpet), Bryan Atkinson (bass), Dennis Campbell (Sax), Harry Haughton (guitarist) and Joe Isaacs (drummer) replacing various members alongside the ever present Jackie Mittoo.

REVIEWS

"Jackie Mittoo was a true star of Jamaican music; a founder member of The Skatalites, a prolific composer and the keyboard powerhouse behind many a classic tune. His simple, often hypnotic approach, to ska, rocksteady and reggae made him one of the most distinctive sounding musicians of the era." BBC.

"Jackie Mittoo was one of the great names in Jamaican music, manning the keyboards for the Skatalites, the Soul Vendors, and Sound Dimension-- three of the greatest house bands of the 60's
(and I mean anywhere, not just in Jamaica)." PITCHFORK.

***** PICTURE SLEEVE ***** LIMITED TO 1000 COPIES ***** RANDOM VINYL *****
Stephen 'Ragga' Marley, the second eldest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, indulges us with his fourth studio album Revelation Pt. II: 'The Fruit of Life', the second installment to his traditional reggae predecessor Revelation Pt. 1: The Root Of Life. It boasts a collection of stimulating collaborations with the likes of Busta Rhymes, Rakim, Waka Flocka Flame, to Pitbull, Iggy Azaelea, and DJ Khaled to name a few. There's no shortage of A-list contributors, making this record a grand amalgamation of reggae and its impact on all forms of modern music.

Stephen Marley The Fruit Of LifeHip-hop veteran Rakim combines with Marley in the record's third track So Unjust, flowing through conscious messages and hard hitting topics in this boom-bap piece. Golden era production elements are married well with King Tubby dub attributes, echoed horn interests and stabbed guitar reggae amplitudes. Mastered with sharp exactness, it manages to execute simultaneously care-free, powerful yet inspiring and calming feelings for all of its four minutes duration. Hip-hop is firmly rooted in history that reflects a lot of Jamaican cultures, no doubt this is thematically administered by Marley and all of the contributors on this record. You can also expect complete modernist reggae jams on the album, channeling a certain early 80's ska, rocksteady aura. The track Rockstone while commencing well, and keeping to a familiar flavour, loses the momentum as the last third of the track adds an unnecessary dubstep breakdown - distracting the comfort with an unpleasant confronting series of wobbles and over-saturated bass-lines. Walking Away is a reliable, flowing and gentle ballad giving a nod to an occidental, country, Amy Winehouse vibe. Strong Caribbean aesthetics emanate from some tracks like Ghetto Boy, envisioning truthful and honest street life perspectives with a reggae-heavy contemporary rap calibration.

Surprisingly, the tracks one would expect to unavoidably utilise the trap-filled heavy hip-hop shine, do well in fact to steer away from this, instead veer towards chilled out, subtle and fine R&B like elements. This is perceived favourably in Miami rapper Rick Ross' featured track - The Lion Roars. The track with Waka Flocka Flame, Scars On My Feet, even stays true to this easy going movement, as Waka raps urgently yet articulately reserved - letting the vocals and singing style of Marley do most of the work. Stephen meets with his younger brother Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley in the dancehall, Spanish guitar riddled volumes on the track Perfect Picture, whilst tracks like So Strong deftly empower a radio-friendly R&B love ballad with the distinct vocal additions provided by Shaggy. Revelation Pt. II: 'The Fruit Of Life' wouldn't be complete without a heavy dance music and mainstream direction, however. Reflecting this, it's the DJ Khaled featured club-ready anthem; Tonight (It's a Party). Fenced around a reggaeton, dancehall, and electro-trap housing, the track does well in bridging the historic waters between Kingston with the pop music skyline of Los Angeles.

Revelation Pt.2: 'The Fruit Of Life' is a proper-documented visit through contemporary relevant music that directly has influenced Stephen Marley, and shaped his overall musicality. It's not a traditional reggae album of sorts but succeeds in the feat of plugging into the unhinged contemporary potency of today, whilst carrying the flame of the Marley message. The multiple grammy winning, multi-instrumentalist continues to trickle forward a body of work capable of defining a genre, and time period, respectively.

Hip-HopReggae

Early 1980, UB40 scored their first success with “Food For Thought”, reaching high positions in the charts. By the time they released their first album they were already so successful that they had signed off on unemployment benefit, leading to the stamped Signing Off featured on form 40, for the sleeve of their debut album. UB40 Collected has captured all the different phases of the band in one complete album, classic hits combined with the new!

The members of UB40 chose their name after a piece of paper most of them were all too familiar with: Unemployment Benefit, form 40, in short: UB40. The name was put on posters and the band was promoted even before each member fully understood his instrument. The first dub album ever to reach the album charts in the U.K. included “One In Ten” and “Don’t Slow Down”. In 1983 the band put on a new project, boasting ten cover versions of Jamaican hits and, contrary to low expectations, it became a huge hit and the band’s first number one album. Tracks included are “Cherry Oh Baby”, “Please Don’t Make Me Cry”, and “Red Red Wine”. The latter was a rather poppy song and became the band’s biggest-selling single ever, entailing their definitive worldwide breakthrough.

There have been lots of collaborations through the years and most of these became huge hit songs. Together with Chrissie Hynde, UB40 recorded two singles: “I Got You Babe” (1985) and “Breakfast In Bed” (1988). They teamed up with Afrika Bambaataa for “Reckless” (1988) and with Robert Palmer the band released “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” (1990), just to name a few.

UB40 Collected is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on transparent vinyl.

Dam Swindle - High Life, The Remixes
HEIST039
Heist Recordings

HouseNu DiscoHip-HopR & B

After presenting Detroit Swindle’s sophomore album High Life in 2018, we felt it was the right time to serve you up a tasty selection of remixes from all over the world and all over the sound palette. We’ve got some dub and boogie from Australia and the Netherlands, classic deephouse from Detroit, dark and dreamy deephouse from the UK and some high energy house from Germany. This set of remixes comes from 5 artists we hold in high regard and have made a serious impact on their part of the scene; some recently and some already a long time ago.

We invited Dutch techno -plot twist alert!- legend Steve Rachmad to come up with a re-interpretation of ‘Yes, no, maybe (feat. Tom Misch)’. His Sterac Electronics remix actually has nothing to do with techno but is an uplifting modern boogie version of the already funky original. Glimmering electronics, some added harmonics and a tight 80’s groove is what this version is all about.

The A2 is reserved for Cinthie, who took the high energy afro funk track ‘Call of the wild (feat. Jungle by Night)’ and turned it into a full on house frenzy with solo’s all around and a groove that just keeps on going and going.

The A side is completed with a remix by Jura Soundsystem, who has impressed many of us with his balaeric influenced synth-boogie, and dub on his own label ‘Isle of Jura’. Here, he chose to remix ‘High life (feat. Lorenz Rhode)’ and has done an excellent job in re-imagining the track into a tamed down, dreamy dub.

On the flip, there’s Matt Karmil’s take on one of the album’s beatless tracks ‘Ketama gold’. He goes in deep with some dusty drums and an arrangement that keeps on building and building, keeping the chord sequence from the track’s outro as a main loop and adding subtle FX, toms and acid hits and a final delivery where electronic cowbells up the energy level by a notch or two.

We finish off the compilation with a moody deephouse re-interpretation of ‘Ex machina’ by Detroit legend Gari Romalis. The twisted machine funk of the original is craftfully replaced by a dusty house loop, dreamy pads and smart usage of the original’s drum effects to build momentum.

This remix package brings a lovely new chapter into the story of ‘High Life’ and we hope you’ll enjoy these reworks as much as we do.
Yours Sincerely,

Maarten & Lars.

Jacques Satre - Anatole Trance EP

TechnoTechnoHip-HopDownbeat

Blossoming from the depths of Saint-Etienne, Worst Records is proud to present the second release of its catalogue. Jacques Satre delivers with « Anatole Trance » a radical hallucinogenic journey through warped horizons of the mind. This long time member of the Positive Education crew sets up a curious yet fascinating mixture of bassdriven downtempo techno, free range acidalia and fierce sense of absurd humor. The three tracks evolve slowly, building up between litanies for wrecked concrete samples and colourful enchantment. This ambivalence results in dancefloor burning tunes that could also be the soundtrack for mesmerizing off-time afterhours. A concentrate of local wizardry that unveils once again hollow zones of the sound of Saint-Etienne.

HOLY HIVE - FLOAT BACK TO YOU
BCRLPC278
Big Crown Records

Hip-HopSoul

LTD. BLUE SEAFOAM WAVE VINYL
