Mit "Mr Dynamite" erscheint über Bella Union das Debütalbum von Creep Show. Hinter dem Namen verbirgt sich das düstere, analoge Electronic-Trio Wrangler, bestehend aus Ex-Cabaret Voltaire-Frontmann Stephen Mallinder, Phil Winter und Benge, sowie John Grant, der die Creep Show als Quartett komplettiert. Aufgenommen wurde das Experimental Pop- und Surreal Funk-Projekt in Cornwall, UK unter der Zuhilfenahme einer schier endlosen Sammlung von Synthesizer-Modellen.

Like so many great singers in history, East Orange, New Jersey native Dionne Warwick got her start in the church, and for the family gospel group, The Drinkard Singers. In the late 50s/early 60s she met Burt Bacharach at a recording session where she was singing backing vocals and the rest, as they say, is history. Warwick collaborated with the songwriting and production team of Bacharach and Hal David for dozens of massive hits, and this, her 3rd album, features some of the biggest and bets hits of her illustrious career, including Walk On By', "You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart)", and "Reach Out for Me". The debut LP from one of the most dynamic duos in the history of recorded music, The Soul Of Ike & Tina Turner was originally released on Sue in 1961. Featuring their classic singles, "A Fool in Love", and "I Idolize You", this is one of the best R&B records of the early 60s. After joining his group as a backup singer in 1957, it soon became clear that Tina Turner's (then Ann Bullock, or Little Ann) talent and charisma were better suited for the spotlight, and by 1960 the group had changed names to the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. An essential record for any fans of Tina Turner or early 60s R&B, truly a barnburner!

Born and raised on the common desire of bass player Mattias Geernaert and drummer Marius Couvreur to groove and dance on the dub vibes.
Kosmo sound saw daylight in late summer of 2016 when these two ghent based musicians found one another. After a few jam sessions and brainstorms they started searching for like minded colleagues and added 4 wonderful masters of sound. Two guitar players (Cyriel Vandenabeele and Edmund Lauret), one keyboard player (Bos Debusscher) and one saxophone player (Ambroos De Schepper).

This band's sound can definitely be described as dub influenced. Making people dance and drift away in groove and trance is what they stand for.
Because of their background in jazz they sometimes add some improvisations.

The « Magnetic Buzz Riddim » brings us back to the Jamaican early dancehall days where heavy rub a dub riddims used to rule the dance. Fruits Records' studio band The 18th Parallel travelled to Jamaica and teamed up with reggae greatest bass player Robbie Shakespeare - from famous duet Sly & Robbie - to build the explosive and powerful « Magnetic Buzz Riddim ». Sylvan White, famous for hit songs like « Africans Unite » or « Mountain Top » recorded in the early 80's, comes back in the business after years off the scene with his beautiful song « Mother Nature ». Then follows an Experimental Dub mixed by Spanish wizard Roberto Sánchez featuring Robbie's crazy lead bass line. B side shows for the first time on vinyl record young promising artist from Rockfort Earth Warrior followed by the sweet voice of veteran singer Delroy Melody who's famous for hit songs from 1980 like « Ease up the Pressure » and « Natty Dread She Want ». Heavy maxi 12' record paying tribute to the early 80's Jamaican reggae!

Norwegian duo Smerz had a prolific 2017, which saw the Copenhagen-based Henriette and Catharina play the likes of Club 2 Club, MoMA PS1, sell out 'Half life' parties of their own, as well as release five new tracks along with five self-directed videos. Clearly not ones to wait around, Smerz go in to the new year with their 'Have fun' EP on the horizon for release via XL Recordings in March 2018.

With their unique electronic sound blending deconstructed club music, minimalist R&B and experimental pop and techno, Smerz are also prolific DJs who's DJing style takes a similar route. Mixing live vocals over their own music and interlaced with choice cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor, this duo DJ hard in a live setting and are thrilling to watch as well as listen.

Smerz currently host their own monthly NTS Radio residency, mixing cutting-edge dance music and darker tones, in what is turning in to their trademark style.

Meet the Supremes is, not surprisingly, the debut album of one of the greatest groups in soul music history, led by the inimitable Diana Ross, was originally released in 1962. Featuring the group's earliest singles "I Want a Guy", "Buttered Popcorn", "Your Heart Belongs to Me" and "Let Me Go the Right Way", none of which were chart smashes but have since become regarded as classics. Full of that early Motown sound the world knows and loves this is a perfect entry point into the illustrious career of Diana Ross & The Supremes.

Thundercat veröffentlichte mit - Drunk im Februar 2017 sein drittes Album und überzeugte damit erneut Kritiker und Musikexperten weltweit. Nachdem ihn das US-Billboard Magazine pünktlich zum Sommerbeginn auf die Liste der - sechs Festival-Acts, die man diesen Sommer sehen muss' gesetzt hat, erschien im Juni 2017 das zweite Album von Westküsten-Rap-Erneuerer Vince Staples: Big Fish Theory'. Es handelt sich bei - Big Fish Theory' um den mit Spannung erwarteten Nachfolger zum Debütalbum - Summertime 06', das vor zwei Jahren durch die Bank von den Kritikern gefeiert wurde und ihn schlagartig weltbekannt machte. Das ganze 20 Tracks umfassende Erstlings-Album wurde von der New York Times als - moderner Gangster-Rap-Klassiker' gefeiert, hierzulande beendete Spiegel-Online die Lobeshymne mit einem schlichten - Tolles Album'. Im August letzten Jahres legte der 23-Jährige dann die EP - Prima Donna sowie einen zehnminütigen Clip von Regisseur Nabil Elderkin nach. Cabanne has been active for over 16 years and is considered as one of the main players on the minimal house scene. He is well known for his jazz and funk influences which bring a unique groove and tune to this set of 11 tracks LP available mid-October on CD and 3x12'. Discopathy will bring an intense pleasure to minimal house lovers, electronic music enthusiasts and jazz players who will fully enjoy this pure piece of minibarism, comfortably installed close to the flames of a burning dancefloor. This album matured and has been refined for years and it is with great emotion for both Cabanne and minibar label that it is announced today.

Chuck Cissel, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, recoded just two albums in 1979 and 1982 respectively, both for Arista at the time and reissued together on CD by Expansion in 2014. He is best known in disco circles for 'Cisselin' Hot', but over the last two decades has become renonwned for Don't Tell Me You're Sorry' in northern and crossover soul circles. Today it is his most sought after record, orignal copies worth £150. The track is also written about in Richard Searling's new book Putting The Record Straight'.

cozy is a songwriter, rapper, producer, and musician who currently operates out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally hailing from the small village of Cumberland, cozy has small town roots that have heavily influenced her art. With her music, cozy hopes to bring people into her world of experiences and give them as clear a picture of her perspective as she can. Throughout her songs, cozy weaves strong lyrical themes of femininity, sexuality, and reclamation of personal identity within a vulnerable context of self examination.

2017 saw Colin Curtis celebrate his 50th anniversary as a DJ, a career that started out in his mid-teens at Newcastle-Under-Lyme's Crystal Ballroom, before making his all-nighter debut at Stoke's hallowed Golden Torch, one of Northern Soul's foundation venues, eventually becoming one of the scene's leading figures as a result of his legendary '70's partnership with Ian Levine at the Blackpool Mecca. This is Colin's own story: By 1979 the development of Jazz rooms at major Soul / Funk Alldayers was providing a much-needed outlet for the more discerning collectors and the fanatical Jazz dancers. The UK Jazz Funk scene began for me in earnest in 1978 when I moved from the Blackpool Mecca to Manchester's Rafters nightclub on Oxford Street. The clash of new imported Soul, Funk and Jazz music coming out in the USA and being shared with a fresh new audience in clubs like Rafters Manchester, Chaplains Birmingham, Locarno Birmingham, Rufus Manchester,
Cassinellis Standish Leeds Central and Nottingham Palais was creating a potpourri of music fashion and dance styles.

I had started to experiment with the jazzier side of dance tracks at Blackpool Mecca in around 1976 with artists like Patrice Rushen, Bill Summers, Azar Lawrence, Charles Earland, Johnny Hammond, Donald Byrd etc, all artists I had discovered using the inner sleeves of Blue Note, Fantasy, Prestige and Mercury labels. As a collector of all styles of black music including Soul, Funk and Jazz my interest was being drawn more to albums and particularly Jazz albums as my brain, as proven with 60's and 70's soul, had an unquenchable appetite for knowledge and unearthing new music. I was thriving on searching out more of this amalgamation of Jazz styles adding fusion, percussion, vocals and tempo to this burgeoning genre.

As the Jazz room identity increased within this environment for me Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester all became prominent in their enthusiasm for Jazz Dance. The fashion, passion and dance began to take on almost a religious aura combined with the unique camaraderie and respect. Out of this grew a passion amongst certain dj's in the midlands and the north of England to start digging a lot deeper for music in the Jazz Fusion / Dance category. Baz Fe Jazz, Chris Reed, Shaun Williams, Simon Mansell, Jonathan Woodliffe, Paul Murphy, Eric & Floyd, Hewan Clarke and many others were willing to push the barriers. This Jazz Dance explosion spread across the country with Dj's like Dr Bob Jones, Colin Parnell & Boo Sylvester adding to the London connection via clubs like The Electric Ballroom and The Horseshoe. This scene thrived for me featuring club nights devoted to Jazz Dance and an increase of Jazz rooms and Jazz breaks on the AllDayer circuits drawing in both interest in the music and the voyeurism of watching the dancers and their individual interpretations.

So this compilation acts as an introduction to this electric, cool and uplifting music that was affecting so many enthusiastic dancers and Dj / collectors. All the tracks on here are taken from one of the most prolific and emerging labels for this genre Muse Records that offered the complete spectrum of styles to fit in with this emerging scene crossing over with Jazz Fusion, Be Bop, vocals, electric keyboards, and percussion.

The youngest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti is as incensed by injustice as his father ever was and, with his mighty new album Black Times including a feature from Carlos Santana, he honours the revolutionaries who have gone before and rallies the torch-bearers to come.Black Times is the fourth album by Seun & Egypt 80, the extraordinary dance orchestra created by Fela as a conduit for the common people. Inherited by the 14-year-old Seun in 1997, the younger Kuti has been building to this, his most accomplished and honest album yet. Black Times is a true reflection of my political and social beliefs,' says Seun, 34. It is an album for anybody who believes in change and understands the duty we have to rise up and come together. The elites always try to divide the poor people of the world. The same oppression felt by workers in Flint, Michigan is felt by workers in Lagos and Johannesburg.Here, then, are tracks designed to spark conversation and realign priorities. The elegant 'African Dreams' insists that commercial success counts for little. Pay no heed to examples set by accepted' African-American celebrities, says Kuti, and marvel instead at the philosophies of great thinkers like the late Pan-Africanist Doctor Amos Wilson. The message,' Kuti sings, is free.' 'Black Times', featuring Carlos Santana, gives us truth. Lyrics such as Understand your history / rise to be free' shine a forensics-style black light on that which is otherwise hidden. 'Bad Man Lighter' is a horn-heavy track calling out duplicity and defending the right to smoke the good weed, the politically charged 'Corporate Public Control Department (C.P.C.D)' is a roiling protest anthem directed at Muhammadu Bahari's Nigerian government and indeed, at deceitful politicians the world over. Co-written with veteran Egypt 80 saxophonist Abedimeji 'Showboy' Fagbemi, the frenetic, fingerpointing 'Kuku Kee Me' borrows from a Nigerian saying ( When someone is always on your case, you're like 'Save yourself the stress and kuku kill me now'') while 'Theory Of Goat And Yam' ridicules a homily invented by former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan, who justified corruption by likening politicians to goats tempted by yams: By taking money meant for a hospital or to build roads, they are actually costing human lives.' 'Last Revolutionary' is a paean to authentic leaders past, present and future, name-checking homegrown African revolutionaries and freedom fighters like Kwame Nkrumah and Thomas Sankara. I say the names of these men who died for us without any promise of resurrection,' says Seun Kuti. Maybe people will Google them, then set out on a journey whose destination is unknown.Black Times' is released on Strut on 2nd March 2018 with the title track released as a single on 7th December 2017, accompanied by a video directed by Jamie Delaney of Black Dog Films.

UK hip hop's original and best live band are back with brand new album 'Bring Out The Sound', released in February 2018 on BBE Music. Founded in the early 90s by Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry, The Herbaliser have earned every single accolade they've received during almost 25 years of touring and recording. Best known for delivering a series of groundbreaking albums on Ninja Tune and providing one of the all-time highlights of the
Fabric Live' mix series, The Herbaliser's most recent LP 'There Were Seven' was issued on their own 'Department H' imprint back in 2012. Having worked with hip hop royalty such as Jazzy Jef and Pete Rock over the years, not to mention releasing J Dilla's frst and last solo albums, BBE are delighted to share in The Herbaliser's musical journey. Inviting a carefully chosen group of guest vocalists to join them in their London studio, 'Bring Out The
Sound' presents a diverse blend of soulful songs, hip hop bangers and original instrumental funk breaks, made all the more impressive by its complete absence of sampling, an album from the heat of The Herbaliser. The Amazon Club is back on Voodoo Gold Records with a 10 track release. Loaded with their signature, hazy tropical funk and disco rhythms, this follow-up from their last years debut will take you back on a trip to the sultry hideout of our worlds greatest paradise.

At the beginning of the 70s, in Italy, the revolutionary surge of 1968 was beginning to turn into something grimmer (and definitely not linked to left-wing ideology) but the concept of factory' still had a key role in the economic and social life of the country. It was not just an alienating workplace, where you often spent your whole life, but also - and overall - the place where demands were made and political struggles took place. Therefore, a feasible imaginary soundtrack for the factory was the daily noise of machines, tools, hammers: an idea that, years later, would be embraced by dozens of industrial bands all over the world. But, in 1972, that reality was documented by Gerardo Iacoucci: We went into factories and workshops and recorded the noise of the machines, then we put on it special musical effects and did an accurate mix', he tells in the liner notes. Industria N.1, divided in Fabbrica on the A side and Impianti meccanici on the other side, is an amazing work mixing field recordings and experimental music, proving how you can combine political commitment, art, avant-garde and pioneering noise music in a brave record.

'The Reverend Eddie Bones' is esteemed American composer, pianist and instrument builder Cooper-Moore's collaboration with the songwriter and artist Ed Pettersen.

These two fresh interpretations of gospel songs are both featured in the new Norwegian TV thriller pilot 'The Green Jersey' which is directed by Øystein Karlsen, the cult director of 'Dag, Lilliehammer' and was recently broadcast twice in
Norway.

This release is the second in a series of totally valve mastered recordings featuring Gearbox's vintage Decca valve mixer in association with their Haeco Scully lathe with Westrex RA1700 series amps, Westrex 3DIIA cutting head and Telefunken
