Yet again the leafs are turning neon golden, reminding us of the change of seasons lying at the edge of our doorstep. The first cold breezes and the fading warmth of the sun, which we just took for granted so easily, sketch the outline of that mild and soothing melancholia resting in autumn's palms. A mood we can very well enjoy to bury in deeply and with Luise's newest release listen to closely. »MENTIS EXCESSUS« is a tenderly crafted tale, a musical journey that paints broad images of false memories and blurry resemblances. Like a Déjà-vu that lasts too long to put aside, it crawls up your neck to give you that eerie feeling of curiosity with which you look at the uncanny world that suddenly surrounds you.
We are very pleased to welcome »WIDE AWAKE« as the most recent addition to Luises's sheltered, little family, a project that has its foundations at the talented hands and hearts of »Niju«, »Ninze« & »Okaxy«. These three banded together for greater good to provide nothing less, but their as well as Laut & Luise's first album.

Ever elusive duo Flight Facilities dropped a bombshell on unsuspecting, devoted fans, announcing the wholly unanticipated - and yet incredibly welcomed - debut album, 'Down to Earth". The production pair, best known for their string of popular club singles have done the unexpected, announcing a cracking new set of tunes to compliment their already impressive back catalogue, along with a headline world tour that will see the guys conquer their biggest headline shows to date, via the likes of The Enmore (Syd), The Forum (Melb), Webster Hall (NYC) and The Regent in LA. Some of the guests waiting in the departure lounge include the divine Ms Emma Louise, New York's most soulful comedian, Reggie Watts, a star turn from Melbourne's Owl Eyes, a foray into hip-hop with hotly tipped rapper Bishop Nehru, along with existing favourites like Micky Green and Giselle. These are just some of the highlights that will be coming out of the 'Down To Earth' carousel in the near future. Since their arrival in 2009, Flight Facilities have proven themselves to be one of electronic music's most consistently popular songwriting duos. Their first hit, Crave You, has become the unofficial soundtrack to summer parties from Sydney to Stockholm, and they've since deployed six successful singles, including the self-released slow-burner Clair De Lune, which went Gold in Australia.

Volk's remix is inspired to the New York Techno scene with stomp drum, raw groove and marked synth. Side B open with "Substance" by Asylum, this track contains dark and closed sounds, a real trip into shadows. Jeff Rushin revisits this creating a very functional tool, and especially the right mix of dark and dancefloor's sounds.

N'toko on his influences: "Musically I consume a lot of american commercial hiphop as well underground experimental stuff from Japan, bollywood music, 80s new wave and shaabi. Politically I'm a marxist, active on the radical left and very inspired by revolutionary movements across the globe."
N'toko is an experimental hiphop artist and producer from Slovenia. He first made a name for himself as frontman of a local hiphop collective called Moveknowledgement. He became well known for his technical skills and speed as a rapper, winning two national freestyle championships in a row. Competitions scored him his first record deal as a solo artist, the result being 3 Slovenian language albums which brought him into Slovenia's mainstream spotlight. N'toko released several EPs and albums in English, two of which were released in Japan. These records gained cult status among underground hiphop fans and alternative music lovers for their open approach, blending influences from rock, free-jazz, electro, noise and psychadelia to name a few.
At the same time, N'toko performed anywhere he could, from poetry slams to impro-sessions and electronic parties, no longer just rapping, but also using his voice as an effect-processed instrument, playing other instruments and often screaming his brains out.
He continues his work with Moveknowledgement, which has morphed into an experimental dub, rock group and released 3 albums. N'toko is now constantly moving between Slovenia and Japan, where he has played over 40 concerts and worked with many artists in the Tokyo music scene. He has also played extensively around Europe as well as the USA, performing in clubs and festivals (Reeperbahn Festival, Glastonbury, Exit, Inmusic, Best Buy Theatre NYC). Currently he is also involved in activist work in Slovenia, where he has become a widely read columnist and author.
What a luck that N'toko could find some time to record his new record "Emirates", out on Unique Records in March 2017. This piece of music agains contains N'toko's strenghts - critical lyrics, straight beats combined with dark electronic sounds.

Originally released on Wagon Repair in 2008, Deadbeat offers up a limited vinyl repress and digital release of one of his most critically acclaimed albums for the first time in 8 years.
From Resident Advisor:
"Roots and Wire brings Deadbeat's Scott Monteith project full circle. (The album) is something of a return to his musical roots as well, being infinitely dubbier and more ethereal'
'That's not to say that Roots and Wire doesn't pack any heat. The album may kick off with two slower numbers, but the arrival of the next trio of tracks turns the tide. All three tease, building patiently before showing their true colours. Tikiman/Paul St. Hilaire opens and closes the album with two impeccable vocals, conveying a feet-up reefer madness vibe rather than hedonistic/hell-for-leather. The title track caps off the album with brisk dubstep beats and ~scape-styled melodica.'
'Roots and Wire succeeds because the different intensities and beat structures of each track offer a more dynamic ebb and flow, all bound together by a homogenous dub reggae spirit. Monteith's refusal to aim for moody, vacuous postures aids in letting the whole thing breathe—and helps to give back some of the life and energy he puts into it. Being so good, the only complaint you'll have is that isn't just a little bit longer."

Composed of some of the most gifted musicians to ever walk the mean streets of the Jamaican capital, the Kingston All Stars project is a celebration of the heyday of vintage reggae, taking the form of a contemporary music project that pays homage to the glory days of the music's past. Spearheaded by Canadian producer, engineer & musician Moss Raxlen, who was also the driving force behind the great* Rock*steady*: T*he Roots *O*f Reggae feature documentary, and who produced Lynn Taitt'slast-ever works, the Kingston All Stars revolves around a robust core of legendary session players who have been respectively responsible for the lion's share of the greatest Jamaican music ever committed to tape.
Drumming mastermind Sly Dunbar is of course half of the great rhythm duo, Sly and Robbie, who have collaborated with a galaxy of global stars in addition to their exhaustive work for every producer of note in Jamaica; bassist Jackie Jackson joined the Supersonics at the birth of rock steady, became a key player in the reggae revolution as part of the Beverley's All Stars, and has been a touring member of Toots and the Maytals since the early 1970s. Guitarist Hux Brown was a rhythm player in the All Stars and Toots' band, too, and also cut key work for Lee 'Scratch' Perry in the early 1970s; lead axe man Mikey 'Mao' Chung was in the Now Generation with his brother Geoffrey and went on to make a dramatic impact in both the Revolutionaries and the Compass Point All Stars, notably backing Grace Jones and Joe Cocker in the latter. Keyboardist Robbie Lyn was an important session player at Studio One in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and was also part of the In Crowd band, as well as Now Gen, which led to work with Peter Tosh, along with Robbie & Sly. And after something of a false start in the mid-60s as a drummer and singer with the Caribbeats, Ansel Collins switched to the keyboards, making an instant splash with 'Night Doctor'(one of Sly Dunbar's first recordings), and then reached the UK pop charts through hit recordings like 'Double Barrel' and 'Monkey Spanner' foWinston Riley, as the musical part of the duo Dave and Ansel Collins. Jimmy Cliff, the Mighty Diamonds, Marcia Griffiths and Black Uhuru are just a few of the noteworthy acts to subsequently benefit from Collins' recording and touring input, and he has enjoyed success as a solo artist too. *
Such a powerhouse of talent would overwhelm most album rosters, but the Kingston All Stars project does not end there: the resident drummer of Lee Perry's Black Ark, Mikey 'Boo' Richards also contributed, as has the sax and trombone team of Everton and Everald Gayle. There are kette drums from Supersad and Calvin, lilting steel pan from Dean Barnett, and guitar and percussion from Roger White and Mossman, as well as Stranger Cole and Trevor McNaughton of the Melodians on backing vocals.*
The album's guest vocalists are in keeping with this music pedigree, since select numbers are tackled by Cedric M*y
Ton of the Congos, his singing sparring partner, RZee Jackson, and the original Greenwich Farm Rastaman, Prince Allah, along with the otherwise unknown Alana Jonsana, an elder dread from the downtown trouble zone brought to the project by Mikey Chung. Everything was captured on tape at Mixing Lab studio in Kingston during the winter & spring of 2016, withfurther overdubbing and mixing overseen by Moss in Montreal. With a corresponding dub album in the works and a set of prominent live performances to come in different international locations, this album is only the beginning for the Kingston All Stars, whose continued presence speaks to the general longevity of Jamaican popular music. Long may they continue to reign!

As they wrap up celebrations for their 10 year anniversary, Boston duo Arms & Sleepers prepare to ring in the new year with a new full length, Life Is Everywhere, out on January 27th, 2017. The album, which was produced by Sun Glitters and features appearances from acclaimed MC Serengeti and Airøspace, expands on the melodies of their previous work but with a darker and more reflective quality. In a recent interview with Impose Magazine, Mirza Ramic (half of the duo) stated, 'Integrity has no borders' when talking about his past as a child refugee, the importance of art, and the socioeconomic and systematic discrimination we face today — the latter being what inspired the album after he spent the summer with underprivileged youth in Chicago's notorious South Side. With its 90s hip-hop and jazzy vibe, Life Is Everywhere combines an 'end of times' feel, which perfectly captures our world today, with glimpses of hope.

House Is OK, but Oli, Janis and Homeboy never said they were exclusively a house label. Introducing House Of Life and DGF to the world, they make a slight change in direction. This split 7 single leaves the world of 4/4 interpretations and takes the imprint to the land of creep hop' and trip pop". House Of Life is a project of Chaveli Sifre Riestra & Nikias Chryssos. They make songs about men who dance with no pants, Jesus Christ, Satan, and darkroom murderers. Their lyrics are channeled through occult rites, internet forums, computer codes, and therapy sessions. Hans With No Pants' tells the story of a guy who likes to party with kids, eat cake and serve cool drinks. He lives in a house by the beach and invites guests to dance with him, but what goes on in his basement remains an unspoken mystery. On the flip, a number from DGF, a project of Nikias & label honcho Janis. Greif Meine Hand' was originally written for the original soundtrack of Nikas' short film The Grandfather". After it got to the 2nd place on the Intergalactic FM demo competition and got props by the likes of I-f, Rude66 and DJ TLR, we decided to give it a second chance by putting it on this lush 45.

The Italian funk god Luis Enriquez Bacalov is celebrated here with this unmissable 7-inch record, featuring two of his grooviest tracks ever: on the A-side, the legendary CARREFOUR is maybe his funkiest soundtrack piece, here released for the first time in its entirety, with an unexpected introduction via a powerful horn section, which was cut from the original 1976 RCA 7''. Behold an eternal jazz-funk masterpiece with solid drum breaks and hip hop heavy beats, funky congas, wah wah guitar, psychedelic organ. This track was used for the 1976 movie Colpita da improvviso benessere', directed by Franco Giraldi, but was originally conceived for the 1974 movie Sistemo l'America e torno' by Nanni Loy. For the B-side, we have chosen from this same score another killer groovy track which was already compiled on our ESTERNO NOTTE Vol. 1 compilation.
SISTEMO L'AMERICA E TORNO - SEQ. 7 has a tremendous rhythm section, a wonderful guitar riff, psychedelic flute, and
stunning Hammond organ solos. This is another future classic from the golden age of Italian soundtracks, and an absolute must-have for any and all jazz-funk DJs worldwide!

One of the rarest and most sought-after Italian holy grail soundtracks ever is finally back from the grave! Originally released in
1966 on Beat Records (45-BT 024), the KRIMINAL main theme was written by Romano Mussolini (Raymond Full in the
opening credits) and Roberto Pregadio for this sleazy crime-pop movie directed by Umberto Lenzi, and based on the cult Italian
comic hero. Actually, this could be considered one of the best swinging jazz-beat themes from the 60s, with its wonderful horn, acid vox continental organ, and terrific rhythmic guitar. On the B-side, we have another jewel from 1960s Italian spy-pop cinema: the main theme of Il cobra' (from the Mario Sequi's movie). This swinging and uptempo jazz-beat piece, written and conducted by the Spanish composer Antón García Abril, is a poisonous shake with a supergroovy mood - a doublesided
floor-filler, not to be missed by any serious soul-jazz DJ.

Death Waltz Recording Company are delighted to bring you something that's a little away from the DW norm, yet still fits together with our other releases like a black leather glove: Fabio Frizzi's score to the 1980 Lucio Fulci thriller Contraband (aka Luca Il Contrabbandiere).
Famed as part of the poliziotteschi movement, Contraband stars Fabio Testi as Luca, an Italian smuggler who is forced to take revenge against a new Mafioso boss after a gang war erupts into bloody murder. While the film is a crime thriller, it's notorious (like all of Fulci's pictures) for its uncompromisingly gory scenes of violence.
Fabio Frizzi's music is irrevocably cool - and surprisingly upbeat at times. Contraband's main theme is a wonderful melody that is reprised throughout the score, with a suitable touch of melodrama. Frizzi's talent for catchy tunes is always apparent, whether it includes the stereotypical wah-wah pedal effects or some grooving slap bass. Kept modern by mixing traditional orchestral elements with electric guitar and a wailing sax, there's always a degree of underlying tension, mainly coming from the brass section, and there's some amazing moments featuring a big organ and a sleazy keyboard riff. This is even before the uber-catchy 'You Are Not The Same', one of Frizzi's many contributions to the songs of moviedom. Another excellent Frizzi/Fulci-fest!

As the 1970's turned into the 1980's Reggae's beat took another turn, slowing down to allow more space for the music to breathe.
The new sound became Reggae's focus and the Roots Radics one of Jamaica's finest session/backing bands were at the forefront of this radical change.
The Roots Radics were based around the nucleus of Errol'Flabba'Holt(bass),Lincoln Valentine 'Style' Scott(drums) and Eric 'Bingi Bunny'Lamont(guitar).
Holt and Bingi Bunny had previously been involved in the Morwells label set up and had cut some popular tunes such as 'Swine and Dine','They Hold Us Down' and the great 'Kingston Twelve Tuffy'.
Before this Bunny had played for one of the other great Reggae sessions band the Channel One based Revolutionaires.
It was the demise of this legendary band due to Sly and Robbie's commitments to their own Taxi label that led to the formation of the Roots Radics.
The Radics have worked with many different producers over the years including Linval Thompson with the series of alums 'Space Invaders Destroy the World' and 'Win the World Cup'.They also worked as Gregory Isaacs backing band and were responsible for the rhythms that made up his seminal 'Night Nurse' set.
We have caught the Roots Radics for this set cutting rhythms in their favourite environment the famous Channel One Studios.
On this occasion working with producer Ossie Thomasfor his own Black Solidarity label,a match made in Heaven...Enjoy..

Special Remarks: full cover artwork by Luio Onassis, inside-out print, download code for free mp3 and a bonus track Tracklist 12: Bonus track via download code! Born in Tehran and raised in Berlin, up and coming producer Nyma presents an exciting and refreshing take on the deeper shades of house and techno. Combining his colourful international upbringing with a rich musical heritage as a multi-instrumental musician and graduate of the revered SAE Institute, it is no surprise that on the 'Flip Side EP' Nyma expertly delivers four rich and absorbing sonic soundscapes.'RIP' is a brooding and ominous introduction to the EP, progressing at a half-tempo pace and featuring echoing vocal shouts over powerful percussion. Next up is 'Euphoria' which is characterised by an infectious looped vocal, crisp drum programming and submarine deep weighty bass, all of which combine to destructive effect. 'Fake People' follows in similar fashion, blending subtle layers and bursts of sound with minute changes in tempo, resulting in a hypnotic and off-key beat. Distinct and groovy 'The XXX File' rounds off the EP. Expertly forged drum programming provides a solid foundation upon which trippy bleeps and industrial drones are laid, culminating in an engrossing and psychedelic journey. As a bonus for those who purchase the vinyl, there is a additional track - an edit of 'Euphoria' - which will be available to enjoy via a download code. Deep yet distinctive and experimental yet groovy, it may be said that the years of determination and dedication have paid off, as Nyma has produced a fantastic debut EP for Desolat. Nyma's Persian roots, technical understanding and rhythmic brilliance shine through on the 'Flip Side EP' and with a number of new adventures on the horizon, fans should be excited that Nyma is set to provide even more fantastic futuristic frequencies in the near future.

* Back in the early 90's a crew from Buckinghamshire released some of their bedroom made Hip Hop on 12". 300 copies were pressed and sold and became part of Hip Hop history. Produced on the floor of Spatts bedroom! The DAT masters have been long lost having been passed over the the vinyl cut and never claimed back.
* This EP has been ripped from the cleanest copy TCM could find. It was a hard job to restore the tracks to the usual high standard we have. These tracks were made using samples from records that already has a lot of surface noise and crackle. Sampled direct from a 1210 for use in the tracks that were recorded to a 4 track cassette deck. It was a hard job to find a nice compromise between killing the feeling and soul in these tracks for the sake of a bit of surface noise, but we feel we've got it right! * Like John Peel said.. 'Listen, mate, *life* has surface noise."

L.A. Nights, their new EP on Hi & Fly is a new milestone in the band discography, setting it to a next level. The title track is a cover of the famous Yasuko Agawa's track (itself based on Light of the world's London Town') inspired by strong Zapp and West-Coast influences. Fat basslines, tight horn riffs and funky talkbox parts galore!
Break Droppin'' and The Battle' are infectious medleys played by the band with an extended line-up including extra brass, strings and percussions. In Breaks Droppin'', you'll find a carefully selected mix of cuts, ranging from the Hawaiian Hal Bradbury's You win, I Lose', to Julius Brockington's This Feeling (Freedom)', passing through CTI and other sampler friendly tracks.
The Battle' is a b-boy style up-tempo selection, mixing Latin influences with some classic battle cuts and evolving to a Disco finish, with a cover of the great Brothers' break Under the Skin'. It is 10' long, the beats & percussions are heavy and the extended band is in top condition. It won't let some rest to your feet for sure!
Last but not least, it's also the comeback of Hi & Fly, a French diggers' reference since 2000. So, one reason more to have a listen... Enjoy!

Thelonius (Theo) & BlackCash - Back at it with this series of Funk & Drum Break edits 45.
Frankie Seay & The Soul Riders - Soul Food
This song starts innocently enough, with a little solo flute passage, then the heaviest drums in all of creation (like Black Sabbath heavy, yes THAT heavy) arrive to knock you out of your seat before going into the full rhythm with equally heavy bass/guitar lines and horn. Solos from sax and guitar keep it extra gritty and round out one of the most head-bangingest funk songs ever heard.
Lyn Christopher - Take Me With You
"Take Me With You" is probably the only Lyn Christopher song youve ever heard, and even then, had it not been for the Smut Peddlers, you probably wouldn't even say that. They looped this up lovely in 1998. Also sampled by LL Cool J, Havoc feat Raekwon and Styles P, The Game feat. Nas, etc etc,

Cariño is BodyMoves' most ambitious release to date. An 18 track beat tape that contains a diverse mixture of beats crafted over the last four years. This dust coated voyage draws on global inspirations and rhythms, refusing to be tied down to any specific sound or style. The EP takes cues from South America, Europe, Asia and Africa, classic soul, jazz, funk, library music and obscure TV audio into a 28 minute long beat journey. The album title was inspired by the birth of the artist's son in April 2016.
The music has respectful nods towards a diverse range of beatmakers, from Al Dobson Jr. to Flying Lotus to Tuamie and has been mastered by Will Horrocks of LV fame. The stunning artwork is a specially commissioned piece by artist Emily Evans. Emily has previously designed artwork for Paul White, Mr Beatnick and Broshuda.
Cassette releases are enjoying a renaissance of late, and true to hip hop culture this beat tape will be released on a strictly limited run of 50 blood red cassettes, and also includes a digital download.
"Cariño" follows up on BodyMoves' recent collaborative EP "Dual Thought" with Tom Central. Both are released on Shapes Of Rhythm Records, a burgeoning label he runs himself, alongside Tom.
BodyMoves has been rising steadily on the scene over the last few years. Known for his eclectic beats and DJ sets, his releases have gained support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Josey Rebelle, Taro (Jazzy Sport), DJ Gilla and Dom Servini.

With the full length, Return To The 37th Chamber dropping April 14th, El Michels Affair releases another flawless two sider to hold us over. Side A's cover of Tearz is as much an homage to the Wendy Rene sample as it is to the Wu-Tang Clan track. The song starts as a glazed over cover of "after laughter, comes tears" with Shannon Wise of The Shacks singing Wendy Rene's timeless mantra. Halfway through, the mood dramatically shifts and the drums and organ that drive the original RZA sample, take over. A dubbed out Lee Fields taps in like only he can, and the song spirals into outer space. Side B finds EMA dipping into the deeper side of the Wu catalog with Raekwon's Verbal Intercourse. Mixing the grimy, gritty production aesthetic of the original with elements of dubbed out reggae, El Michels Affair once again pushes the definition of a cover' and truly makes it a tune of their own.

The arrival of Marvin Parks on today's musical scene is a perfect addition to the renaissance of the Afro-American Jazz Crooner panorama, deeply rooted in the Black Music tradition. Having his roots in Gospel and in the '50s and '60s jazz singers by the likes of Nat King Cole, Johnny Hartman and Joe Williams, Marvin Parks yet remains by all means an artist of today. In his debut Marvin shapes his light baritone colors within the sound of a well-established group of musicians under the direction and production of Nicola Conte, giving a different light to well-known standards and some originals.
playDead's third release is a full length studio album made by this two very unique characters - Shuzin & Rejoicer.
The Duo has been putting out music and playing live shows since 2013 and were celebrated by crowds in the biggest festivals in israel, big clubs in Tel Aviv and all over Germany.

Favorite Recordings and Charles Maurice proudly present the 3rd edition of their acclaimed AOR Global Sounds compilations series. Another brilliant selection of 14 rare and hidden tracks, produced between 1976 and 1985 in various parts of the world. On AOR Global Sounds Vol.3, DJ and producer Charles Maurice delivers again a fine overview of the AOR and WestCoast influences for many artists in the late 70s and early 80s. Even more than on previous volumes, he selected highly forgotten productions, deeply infused with Disco and Soul flavors. Many of these great gems were naturally produced through all the USA, often made by artists with a very short career and as private press. For example, Jeff Silna only recorded this amazing song after winning the competition of a long gone Miami radio station, the Stratus project started around 1974 in Rhinelander, isconsin, and was a band led by Bob Ackley who only released this 7' single in 1976 after recording a full album and doing a few gigs around Michigan, John Kontol (Jon Konteau), however having credits for a few productions and appearances and still acting as a musician, never released another LP after his heartbreaking experience with Erect Records, that never rewarded him for his work and even change his name against his consent, as for Dirt (In The Sky' by 7 Days Unlimited, whose both members were from Pittsburgh area, where a lot of dirt was literally flying in the air, the song was released in 1980 on a very limited 500 copies 7' single.
But this kind of stories and waste of talent is not solely and American privilege, from Willy Santana (member of Placa Luminosa) in Brazil, and Funky Team in Sweden, to Stacey and Out Of The Fog in Canada, this 3rd edition proves again if necessary the international scope and fervor of this music scene, and the surprising amount of great music that go unnoticed at that time.
Fully remastered from originals, with great attention to sound quality as always, AOR Global Sounds Vol.3 (1976-1985, selected by Charles Maurice) is presented by Favorite Recordings in a gatefold vinyl double LP and as CD.
