6 tracks of dub, breaks, bass and glitch music from BALANCED RECORDS. The title cut is a "reverb drenched head-nodding dub breaks journey" followed by two of re-rubs of classic dub riddims. B/w another original cut, a remix by labelmate RICHIE PHOE and "HOW IT GO feat PROFISEE (KASM REMIX)".

Inspired by reggae, sound system culture and the myriad of musical styles influenced by Jamaican music old and new, The Lions' sound is firmly placed in soul music.

"All the guys in The Lions grew up on classic Jamaican records so since we began we have wanted to give our records that same edge and roughness that we grew up hearing on LPs by The Upsetters, Soul Syndicate, The Rockers Band and Roots Radics. The rhythm section was all recorded to tape, the Hammond buzzed a little, fuses blew and good mistakes were left in. The band draws together a dozen or so of LA's elite reggae and soul forerunners who loosely coalesced as The Lions in 2007. Members of the legendary ska band Hepcat, Deston Berry and Alex Désert, form half of the vocal team, and the latter also has a successful career on screen, including roles in the films Swingers and High Fidelity. The other half is the sweet falsetto of Malik Moore and DJ stylings of Black Shakespeare, the charismatic cousin of Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly & Robbie fame) and co-runner of the i&i Sound System, a customized ice cream sound system van, featured on the album cover.

Kabanjak is the producer behind many of the versatile outings from Switchstance Recordings â€' the German label on which the American soundsmith Fat Albert Einstein released his album "After The Beep" in 2011. Now both come together for a trans-Atlantic outing which is deeply rooted in the Jamaican dub styles of masters like King Tubby or Augustus Pablo in the 1970s and takes their concepts into the NOW.

Multi-instrumentalists Kabanjak and Fat Albert Einstein once again show the many facets of their trade, both composing using bass, guitars, organ and various keys; most importantly melodica. Add to this Fat Al's tough live drums and Kabanjak's employment of flutes, percussions and general sound wizardry on the boards. "Dub O' Dup" is an instrumental journey, echoing between contemplative chillaxation and more uptempo-oriented tunes, all the while paying homage to the original dub founders â€' and even paving a way into the future of sonic exploration. Six tracks and an Ancient Astronauts remix.

Chimp Beams bring a synth driven ethno-dub on the A, while Parker Kindred (drummer for Antony &The Johnsons, Jeff Buckley etc) leads a BK all star band through a dreamy, Asian-flavored vocal number.

Brooklyn based producer meets Jamaica's Courtney John who has worked w/Sly & Robbie on Silent River & the UK based Peckings camp. Vintage roots feel w/falsetto vox + liquid dub on the flip.

Volume 3 of the Alien Dread/Martin Campbell Dub Plate style albums features a further 10 rhythm tracks from the Channel One (Uk) vaults, by Martin Campbell & the Hi-Tech Roots Dynamics. Plus 2 bonus tracks, for CD only. All tracks have been deftly re-mixed by Alien Dread, with leanings towards the mid 1970's Ja style of Dubs, with a contemporary overview and the distinct Alien Dread hallmarks!.

A full-throated double trombone-fueled blast of classic dub. Refashioning a UK-steppers vibe with traces of ska and rocksteady, the Brooklyn-based band lays down a slab of raw groove made even more scintillating on legendary dub producer Victor Rice's B-side remix. Led by bassist and composer Ezra Gale, whose last outfit Aphrodesia memorably took their take on Afrobeat all the way to Femi Kuti's Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, Super Hi-Fi has created waves in the fertile Brooklyn music scene for two years now.

NYC reggae stalwart, Antibalas founding member & keyboard player to the stars makes his BSTRD debut w/reggae re-workings of Erykah Badu & Pharoahe Monch chunes. "Real Thang" & "Desire".

*Winston Wright is another unsung hero from the Jamaican musical
cannon. Although many might not know his name, you will have
heard him on many records in your collections. When we say that
it was he who played that classic Hammond organ riff on the
1969 'Liquidator' classic, as part of the Harry J Allstars, we might
begin to appreciate his talents that bit more. But not only this, many
1970's classics carry his organ, piano and arranging skills and
even before that time, many tunes cut in the 1960's,as part of Duke
Reid's house band Tommy McCook's Supersonics, carried the

Winston Wright signature sound.

Winston Wright (b 1944 , Jamaica) began his musical career in
the 1960's as a session player and soon became an integral part
of the Treasure Isle Studio house band, that became known as
Tommy McCook's Supersonics . He played on many of the
Rocksteady era hits that Duke Reid ruled the island with between
1966-1968.His mastery of the Hammond organ made him an in
demand session player. One such was Harry J studio's that had a
massive hit in the UK in 1969 with 'Liquidator' as the Harry J
Allstars of which Winston was a member. The same year saw him
cut some great tunes as part of Clancy Eccles' Dynamites.
The 1970's saw Winston Wright working closely with Dynamic
Sounds Studios' nucleus of musicians Cutting material for all the top
producers of the time including numerous sides for Bunny 'Striker'
Lee, which we have focused on for this set of tunes. From 1975
onwards Winston Wright was a member of Toots and the Maytals'
touring band, but we celebrate here his mighty fine studio work.
Adding his touches to many a fine rhythm as only Winston could
we hope you enjoy the set.

Future Ancestors is the first single from Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra's second album'Towards Other Worlds'. The UK-based 7 piece have built on the success of their debut album, described by BBC Radio 2's Jamie Cullum as one of his 'sounds and albums of 2010'. Although their music uses Afrobeat rhythm and language, they also owe part of their sound to the space Jazz pioneers of the 70's and the free jazz trailblazers of the 60's. The band have been quoted to credit James Brown and Tony Allen for having a large influence on their music.
