You, like I, like everyone, exist at the juncture between a single solid knowable past, and an infinity of possible futures. Which future becomes the present depends upon a combination of chance and millions of decisions, the vast majority of them so tiny they seem completely insignificant. Mostly we don't ever think about this process, but sometimes, the present you find yourself in is so hideously removed from the future which you previously imagined, you are forced to wonder how things went so horribly awry. All of those little choices don't seem so insignificant anymore. But wonder as you might, you can't change the basic fact, important things got fucked, and it's impossible to unfuck them. And there you are left, mourning for yesterday's futures, nostalgic for a reality which was only ever really imaginary.' - Personal correspondence - Mr Key to Greenwood Sharps - 15/02/2013
In May 2013, Mr Key and Greenwood Sharps met in a remote cottage in the North of Scotland to begin work on a collaborative project. The end result 'Yesterday's Futures' maps a journey through a very human process, coming to terms with the past, and searching for meaning in the present.
Yesterday's Futures is definitely a rap record, and yet, somehow it resonates beyond the often narrow confines of that genre. In the place of the usual self aggrandising braggadocio is a personal exploration of universal themes, loss, addiction, depression, childhood, and eventually, love and hope.
The combination of Key's honest and deeply personal lyrics with Greenwood's thickly textured and continuously evolving organic instrumentals paints an evocative picture of a world saturated in feeling, positive and negative. Key & Greenwood invite their audience to join them on a journey through a landscape of visceral emotion and beautiful noise, coloured with the bittersweet nostalgic palate of futures lost.
Always on point, Key is a natural teacher offering up his insights for our benefit. Yesterday's Futures is fresh learning.' Nick Mulvey
Mr Key is 1/5 of legendary hip hop crew Contact Play, alongside Jam Baxter, Dirty Dike, Ed Scissortongue and Ronnie Bosh. Elusive and enigmatic, rumours about his location and occupation abound. Libertarian mountain schools and off grid communes are often mentioned, but Key himself is unwilling to shed light on where he is or what he is doing.
Greenwood Sharps emerged as new and unique voice on the beat scene in 2011 with the release of his critically acclaimed debut ep 'Things Familiar'. After hearing the ep, Jamie XX contacted him personally, and name checked him as a producer he was loving in an interview with Clash. Since then however, Greenwood has been conspicuously absent. For the love of his beautiful music, we hope that we don't have to wait another 4 years for his next release.

"Coral Cadavers" is an international hip-hop heist of epic proportions. The album re-teams long-time allied forces, German production duo JR & PH7 with New Jersey emcee trio St. Joe Louis.
Filled with off-kilter synths, jazzy samples, stuttered drums and occasional scratched choruses, JR & PH7 set an atmospheric and head-nodding soundscape throughout. St. Joe Louis emcees, Elete Wright, Michael Cardigan and Tommie Chase bound lyrically through each track, serving as narrators and Greek Chorus on this concept album.
According to Michael Cardigan, "Coral Cadavers" is a "neo-noir psychological thriller about a woman's descent into moral ambiguities against the backdrop of Los Angeles."
Guest emcees serve to add notable character exposition to the album including Roc Marciano (on "Driven"), Stalley (on "30,000") Rah Digga (on "Duck Duck Goose"), Phonte & Tamisha Waden (on "Invitation") respectively.
This album is the culmination of a musical partnership that began in 2010 with the release of the New High 7'. St. Joe Louis was also featured heavily on the JR & PH7 My Favourite Demons EP in 2012 (along with other NJ crew, Brokn English).
JR & PH7 have been working on music together for a decade. Among their work is numerous full-length producer albums (The Standard, The Update, The Good Life and Noir) which features appearances from notable emcees including Willie The Kid, Phonte, Sean Price and Roc Marciano. In 2015, JR & PH7 released "The South Sac Mack", their full-length album with Sacramento emcee Chuuwee.

9th Wonder, Phonte & Big Pooh ARE Little Brother. In Little Brother's music, the North Carolina group makes a specific point to highlight the more refined aspects of mid-'90s hip-hop. Basing its 2002 sound upon the foundation previously established by the likes of Pete Rock, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay Dee, and Black Star, Little Brother makes somewhat of a political statement by applying such standards to this modern age. The Listening does an exceptional job of proving that soulful meditations have indeed retained their traditional relevancy within the contemporary realms of rap. 9th Wonder's production leads the charge with distinct drum kicks pacing larger-than-life melodic samples, which are often enhanced with sultry female voice-overs. Meanwhile, Phonte and Big Pooh dig even deeper within the hip-hop vaults as they draw upon classic routines by the likes of Rakim, Slick Rick, and Audio 2 for their lyrical inspiration. Whether engaged in storytelling, braggadocio, or simple reassurance, the rhyming duo complements 9th Wonder's varying shades of mood music with a consistent degree of skill and sincerity. The album both starts and finishes strongly, with For You,' Speed,' Nighttime Maneuvers,' and the title track serving as its most stellar moments. Despite its unavoidably derivative orientation, The Listening is a finely crafted musical document, composed by artists who want nothing more than to provide even just a glimpse of hiphop purity within an ever-expanding maze of cultural deterioration.' - Robert Gabriel, Allmusic.com

Limited edition. It feels like Migos have been around for ages, but it was only October 2013 when the Atlanta trio broke out with Versace'. 2016 brought their most definitive statement yet in Culture, an album that you certainly heard (and will continue hearing) even if you haven't sought it out. Combining a larger-than-life sound with their signature triplet flow, tracks like Bad and Boujee', T-Shirt' and Kelly Price' have been ubiquitous of late and the trio has taken their rightful place at the pinnacle of the rap world. It's hard to say whether the masses expected greatness from the energizing trio but they've taken full advantage of the opportunity at hand.

The Drum Library series, which began back in 2001, has prided itself on compiling the hardest, crunchiest and most rarefied drums from every source imaginable. We've held to this standard for over 15 years, providing professional producers & bedroom beat makers alike with the largest collection of quality drums available today. In short, the Drum Library series has become an industry standard. The ever-expanding, go-to kit for beat makers around the world. Now, with the conclusion of the series at Volume 15, you hold in your hands, what will be the last vinyl incarnation of the Drum Library series. These drums actually constitute what would have originally been Volume 4 and 5 before the masters were initially thought to have been lost in a flood that gutted the studio where, up until then, the Drum Library series were made. Fortuitously perhaps, these last two orphaned' volumes were discovered safe & sound in a storage unit just as Vol.15 was wrapping up. We've compiled them both here in one special edition volume. We hope you've had as much fun using the Drum Library series as we've had making them. Thank you for your support over the years!

The producer's crew Jupiter A.K.A is composed of Astronote, Kyo Itachi and Azaia.
Their first appearance under this name dates from 2013 for Bankai Fam's project « On My Side », in which they were both producers and executive producers.
Before forming a crew, they have, for more than 10 years, released several solo albums or collaborated with a crowd of french and US artists, mainstream and underground.
Astronote has produced whole projects such as Black Opera on Mello Music Group, or for Big pooh (Little Brothers). He has collaborated with artists such as Phat Kat or Disiz La Peste (Famous French Rapper), he also had the opportunity to put a beat on Kendrick Lamar's album: « Untitled Unmastered » in 2016 (track 3).
Kyo Itachi founded his label in 2009 and release regularly projects, entirely produced by himself, he has collaborated with John Robinson, Dirt Platoon, Lmno and one of its strongest remains that one with Ruste Juxx. We can count two albums in common to their credits Hardbody Hip Hop' & Meteorite'.
Azaia is a little more discreet, contributed on various projects like Hus Kingpin, Jazzy Bazz (FR), Kc Da Rookee, Skeezo, Espiiem (FR). He also relased his solo album in 2014 named Re-Animations" on the parisian label « Marvel Records » where we can find, among others, rappers such as Blu, Nine, Reks, Street Smartz & John Robinson.
The Great Red Spot' is the first official project of the Crew on Azaia's new Label called Brain Connection 1978. This LP is starring a young talented Mc from Detroit Nolan The Ninja and featuring Rockness Monstah from Heltah Skeltah and many strong mcs like Ruste Juxx, Skanks The Rap Martyr, Mic Handz, Vvs Verbal, Milez Grimez & Da Buze Bruvaz.

Coming straight out of melbourne with plentiful attitude, Producer/multi-instrumentalist Silentjay teams up with fellow Hiatus Kaiyote backing vocalist, Jace XL to present 'Sacrifice', a mini album of epic proportions. At once sincere and heartfelt, the songs do not shy away from the playful influence of 90s RnB - a sound that is a defining influence on this EP, which despite clocking in at just under 30 minutes, attains a level of artistry and conceptual cohesiveness that many artists could only dream of.
Another VERY serious record, from an impossibly fertile Melbourne Scene that is quickly becoming the envy of the world.

Half picture disc, half clear vinyl. Lord Quas with brick on one side, and his "insides" show on the flip. Delivered in a clear polybag.
"Planned Attack" is from the album Yessir Whatever, and "Talkin Shit" is a short, previously unreleased track. Both featuring and produced by Madlib. Artwork by Jeff Jank.
On the crime-infested east side of Lost Gates CA, there is a vinyl pressing plant whose brochure says, "will do anything for a price." Back in the 70s & 80s, they specialized in private press porno soundtracks, but these days Madlib is their only customer.
Delivering them a couple Quasimoto tracks with a drawing or two, here's the record they returned: a custom-shaped, half picture disc, half clear disc, with thick vinyl. One side is Quasimoto's "Planned Attack" from the album Yessir Whatever, and the flip side is the previously unreleased "Talkin' Shit," a short track with Lord Quas doing what he does best. Both tracks are produced-by and featuring Madlib. Artwork by Jeff Jank.
Pictured below is the front, family-friendly side of the vinyl. The backside of the record, the "x-ray" portion, show's Quasimoto disgusting insides.

Texture Like Sun' is the follow up to the much-loved self-titled debut by Anglo-Mauritian producer, singer and percussionist Joseph Deenmamode aka Mo Kolours. NOD! TIP!
The Guardian described 'Mo Kolours' as 'the best album Curtis Mayfield never made with A Tribe Called Quest and Lee Perry'
'This record is about cycles. From the tiny cycles of loops within songs to the broader cycle of the whole album, which is designed to take you away and bring you home again at the end. Loops within loops. Loops overlapping in different ways and shifting as they go can take you very far away. You hear it in lots of African music, in jazz and hip hop'.
Mo Kolours explores this theme through both music and lyrics. 'Pass It Round' is about giving and receiving, and the importance of depending on others. 'Orphan's Lament' is named after a Mongolian folk song, and Mo Kolours' own words urge the listener to 'fall to get up again' among a set of inescapably linked opposites. The message may be optimistic or otherwise, depending on the listener's point of view. The theme also appears in his choice of cover versions as he reinterprets songs absorbed in his youth: 'Harvest For The World' by the Isley Brothers and The Stranglers' 'Golden Brown', from which the album title is derived.
'The Stranglers are one of my earliest memories of music. I had an auntie who was a huge fan and my parents had all their records. 'Golden Brown' always gave me such a beautiful feeling, way before I knew what it was supposed to be about'.
Raised on the traditional sega music of his father's Indian Ocean homeland alongside records by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson, Mo Kolours adds hip hop, dub, soul and other electronic styles to his individual sound. His approach could find him placed alongside Madlib or The Gaslamp Killer but he would be equally happy in the company of James Blake, Erykah Badu, Theo Parrish or Moodymann.
'I've always admired producers who push your ear, who draw you into unexpected elements of a song. I like it when people use a minimal number of elements and find ways of making you re-engage with each of them. It can be subtle, just a drum or the repetition of a word. I was thinking about that in the arrangement of the whole album'.
His energetic, improvised live show sees tracks layered up from loops of voice, percussion and drum machine before skewing in new directions. It's a thrilling approach which has taken him to clubs and festival stages from Brighton to Brisbane, as well as to the BBC's hallowed Maida Vale studios at the invitation of Gilles Peterson. Mo Kolours will be touring widely in support of 'Texture Like Sun'.

Another sureshot from the 5 Borough Breaks crew, unearthing yet another classic hip hop anthem rarely seen on 45. Taking it back to 1989, Ultimate Force's "I'm Not Playing" catches a young Diamond D in full flow over a looped blues lick. Famed for its appearance on Shadow & Cut Chemist's "Brainfreeze" mix, the original 45 will set you back a hefty sum. As always, flip it over for the original sample source - step up Albert King's "Cold Feet".

While they both have collaborated on each other's solo records, Still Hungry marks their first joint album. Still Hungry boasts the best of what Format and Abs bring to the hip-hop community: funky, up-tempo and slick beats, coupled with intelligent, savvy lyrics. The album also showcases a grittier, harder sound, reflecting the maturity of the two artists, giving their audience some head-bobbing bangers that could rock any concert hall.
Format and Abs have contributed to each other's albums, with Abs providing slick verses on Format's debut album Music for the Mature B-Boy, and Format producing tracks on Abdominal's debut release Escape from the Pigeon Hole. In 2003 they provided support for Jurassic 5's European tour, and then continued touring together as headliners based on how hype crowds became when they took the stage.
Together, they have toured the UK more than twenty times to sold-out crowds. They have rocked stages such as Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown Festival and the iconic Jazz Café and Brixton Academy venues in London. They have also brought their high-energy shows to Australia and across Europe several times over the past fifteen years.
Like any memorable hip-hop team, DJ Format & Abdominal have found success by working off each other's strengths and giving the global hip-hop community a unique and funky sound destined to be a fixture in every rap lover's collection.

Since his untimely death at the all too young age of 32 the world has grown to appreciate the work of J Dilla even more than when he was alive. There's an ethereal quality to Jay Dee's works, part boom bap but more mellow. Mellow, but never soft. And Dilla never stopped making beats, his MPC was by his side until the very end. It now resides in the Smithsonian. Due the prolific nature of his beat making, the world is blessed to have stacks of Dilla material - some coming to light even this many years after his passing. In the world of hip hop, no one's mother is more famous that Ma Dukes. Go ahead, name check Chuck D's mom or Chance the Rapper's mom or TI's mother - without hitting Google. And one of the reasons we all know Ma Dukes is her tireless effort to maintain Dilla's legacy. This release is yet another step in that direction. Presented here, from the Official Ma Dukes Collection, are 15 works by Jay Dee from deep in the vaults, being released on vinyl for the first time.

Never befrore released Fat and Hardcore Hip Hop from 1992. A time stamp of the year featuring rugged production, firing horn sections, fast raps, caustic deliveries and unashamed local accents. The sound sits somewhere betweenThe London Posse, Demon Boyz and Cyprus Hill. No official releases exist and apparently no billed gigs were ever played, but there is no doubt that had 'Say What I wanna Say' been given a proper release at the time of it's production in 1992, it would today sit comfortably amongst bonafide UK Hip Hop classics of that era and be considered a part of UK Hip Hop heritage. For me, they stand for something. it's an artefact. A relic from an era long forgotten, from a crew who loved doing what they did, and did it for the love alone. An important piece of history, that never happened whilst simultaneously happened in the most real way possible and for me embodies the true spirit of Hip Hop.
Three of these tracks were mixed down by a then unknown Roots Manuva and appeared on a very limited run of white labels in 1993 that never made it to official release. One of these would set you back £75 if you managed to find it on Discogs, while the other three tracks only ever existed on a cassette and are being released for the first time ever.
So pleased to announce this one - It's been a long time in the workings.. Brand new Fat Hop records - The DOPEST 1992 Hip Hop tracks, restored, remastered and available on vinyl . "Neighbourhood Threat" !!!

LTD 140g 10" grape juice vinyl MAIDM is made up of musical pioneers Aim and Mikey D.O.N.
Locked in the lab for as long as it took, they're now set to share the first fruits of this miraculous merger. Presented on tasty 10' grape juice vinyl, MAIDM's opening statement boasts two hard hitting hip-hop home-runs, Tun Up Di Heat (Party Banger) and B-Boy Shit.Tun Up Di Heat (Party Banger) is an earth-quaking, bass speaker shaking introduction to how nice they are. A beatific blend of head down hip hop and funky, floor-filling accessibility, Tun Up... is the perfect introduction to MAIDM and it's precision manifesto.Flip to the flip side for second track B-Boy Shit, a track that eschews concession to commerce and takes no prisoners through minimalistic murk and hyper-aggressive vocals. Long forgotten legends are name-checked, old scores are settled, the dirty break-beat rolls on and hip-hop gains a fresh new anthem.

The unpredictable nature of life for a band with members scattered around the globe have forced Guts to give his line-up a shake to start their various tours in the best possible conditions.
A Brand New Revolution!
So Leron Thomas gave way to Wolfgang Volburn, who is also lead vocalist of The Ephemerals. Mary May climbed onto Lorine Chia's throne. Beat Assailant plucked a mic from the air that was still burning from the flow of Von Pea. While Florian Pellissier remains riveted to the keyboards, versatile Greg F. on the bass and Nico Rajao on drums, Guts has gobbled up the miles and bestrode stage after stage at the head of a revitalised live band.
New recruits had kept enhancing the well-practised repertoire with their vibes, redefining some of the contours, adding a bit more soul here or a lightness of touch there. Their impact was so great, in fact, that changing line-ups have become part of the band's identity.
Galvanized by this new alchemy, Guts and his new-look live band stopped off in the studio to compose and record some new tracks which he has brought together on "Stop the Violence", a five-track record that's more like a mini-album than a simple EP.
High on this regenerating juice, energy levels spiking into the red, "Ain't Perfect", "Pick Me Up", "Everybody Wants to Be a Star", "Drummer's Delight" and the title track light up boxes marked soul, afro, disco and jazz, brighten a groove carpeted with retro-funky keyboards and the brass of Cotonete, Heavenly Sweetness's resident jazz-funk specialists. Two birds with one stone, since Guts and his live band will obviously use "Stop the Violence" to set the stage ablaze after burning up people's decks.

Mixing abstract hip-hop and house, Blutch's style is mind-blowing and striking, with touches of groove and heat. Borrowing from Pépé Bradock, Francis Inferno Orchestra,Cuthead, Andrés, Shigeto and Massive Attack, Blutch has forged a unique musical identity all along his career, always with this strong desire to combine several universes into a single entity. In January 2015 Blutch revealed his creative genius with his first EP, Equilibrium. He will soon revisit a voluptuous set mixing trip hop, the softness of electronica and a hypnotic deephouse. (r)equilibrium unites 9 artists in one project that representsBlutch' diverse musical spectre.Friends, idols, people who we loved to collaborate with, spend time with, get to know better. The (r) stands for the remix, the reinterpretation of Blutch' EP Equilibrium. Each artist gives new life to one of the tracks, spicing them up to their liking. Cutheadtransforms « Skyview » in a straight-up house floor killer while Maxime Dangles takes « Chocolates & Hamburgers » to gloomy, cold electronic heights. Between these two extremes the music gradually and cleverly evolves track by track. Melodiesinfonieopens up in complete serenity with his take on « A. » which takes us straight into summer with our feet in the sand. Tito Wun follows up perfectly with his version of Wildstar' that is stacked with groovy samples. Next up is Keroué, member of the band Fixpensill. He puts his rhymes on a stellar edit by YWNWA. Jenovah choses to take Deep Diving' on a bass-driven path while Pavane sees and raises that with an orchestral version of Anyoma. It's up to the brothers Ark & Pit Spector to close out the EP by taking « Elis » into deeper territory. The tracks subtly follow each other up to tell a consecutive story. Thanks to the music ofBlutch, these 8 tracks stay connected on this diverse but coherent EP. Driven by our sense of partying and our willingness to meet the people we have been sharing our music with over more than a year, we decided to throw 4 release parties, hostingCuthead, Pit Spector, Tito Wun and Jenovah, who we hadn't met before. Sold out nights, balloons, jokes, fun and groove. Really proud of the project in general, the artists' work and our flawless casting. The project has forged bonds between artists that wanted to continue their collaborations, Blutch and Cuthead will now even be playing back2back at Festival Astropolis July 2nd .
