Wave(s) is Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins' follow-up to his critically acclaimed breakthrough mixtape The Water(s). Featuring production from Kaytranada, Lee Bannon and THEMpeople, as well as guest spots from the likes of The Mind, Saba, Sean Deaux and Donnie Trumpet, Wave(s) sees Jenkins continue the themes set out on his debut, delivering poetic and philosophical thoughts about water with compelling urgency and a principled consciousness. He also explores new topics - most notably on one of the EP's standouts 'Your Love,' a sweet and bouncy love song on which he raps (and sings) candidly about his feelings. Overall, Wave(s) is a tantalising collection of tracks which further establishes Jenkins as one of the most exciting new talents in hip hop.

With no structure to the creative process, this LP is a prime example of exercising the moment. Something from nothing, a meeting of styles, a variation of creative skills. The Everyday Headnod, another art of expression, another journey with Tek and Figub. During the time of recording, Figub introduces JuJu Rogers and Tek. A song originally sited as a feature matured into a mass collaboration of songs to form the Back To The Boom LP. 7 days later Enter the Man Of Booom... Now the loop returns back to the beginning, and we press play on what rested before the Boom dropped. During the lock down period, we would briefly take a listen and understand this LP was still relevant and changing nothing, except to add the contributions of Noritsu, Christmaz, Bad FX, Tesla, Rob Really & Mic Donet.

In 2015's hip-hop culture, built on stale rhymes about sex, money and drugs, Houston-bred, Minneapolis-based artist, Lizzo relies on inventive wordplay and an ability to seamlessly flow between rapping and singing to set her above the rest. Her debut solo release LIZZOBANGERS lives and dies by Lizzo's unique delivery and cadence, fueled by the depth of her pop-culture, social and historic references, ranging from Lizzie Borden to Cogsworth to Anna Wintour. Beyond the pop references and inventive wordplay, LIZZOBANGERS goes deep into challenging stereotypes, societal norms and the state of our culture in a rare matter-of-fact and non-politicized way.

Packed with explosive rhymes and soulful hooks over Lazerbeak's signature bangers, and creatively overseen by mutual friend and Gayngs/Polica mastermind Ryan Olson, LIZZOBANGERS is a true breakthrough debut album in the vein of Illmatic or Ready To Die, an artist's entire first two decades on the planet bursting at the seems and crammed into an urgent 40 minutes of unrelenting music.

Born in Detroit in the late 80's, Lizzo spent much of her formative years in the church, where she was raised on the gospel sounds of The Winans, The Clark Sisters, and Fred Hammond, along with mainstay secular artists such as Stevie Wonder and Elton John. At the age of 10 her family moved to Houston, TX, and Lizzo was exposed to a wide array of emerging Southern musical styles, from the trademark chopped and screwed rap tracks of the underground, to the progressive and polished R&B sounds of groups like Destiny's Child that were raising the city's national profile to new heights. In fact, it was after she skipped class to catch a Destiny's Child performance at Wal-Mart that Lizzo—then a 5th grader-- was inspired to start writing music on her own.

Over the next decade that decision would take her through the trenches of some of the most varied musical genres: R&B girl groups (I.N.I.T.I.A.L.S., Cornrow Clique, The Chalice), progressive rock bands (Elypseas), electro-pop duos (Lizzo & The Larva Ink), and her current trap-based hip-hop collective/crew GRRRL PRTY. Meanwhile, she graduated with a classical flute degree from the University of Houston and turned down a scholarship for graduate studies at the Paris Conservatory in order to pursue her current projects.

Death and Taxes says, "Her confidence evokes that of the 90's stars like the late Left Eye or Missy Elliot, her ability to flip styles is flawless, and the way she glides to and from spitfire versus to diva-like belting is dizzying, to say the least. What's more She's real."

Chicago Sun Times declares: "The lead single, Batches and Cookies (feat. Sophia Eris),' astutely dishonors climbing social ladders: "Thrift store shopping look like Anna Wintour/ You ain't gotta ask about it 'cuz I been hurr / Ridin' in them chariots like we in Ben-Hur'. But it is the track W.E.R.K,' in which she advises her own young fans: Look like a girl/ Act like a lady/ Think like a man/ Werk like a boss,' that will catapult her.'

Otherworldly hip-hop meets Shona rhythms, Congolese guitar ambiance and political resistance. Chimurenga Renaissance is a Seattle-based duo made up of Tendai Maraire and Hussein Kalonji (in Shona "Chimurenga" means revolutionary struggle). Tendai is one-half of the visionary hip-hop group Shabazz Palaces and has family roots in Zimbabwe while guitarist Hussein partly grew up in the Congo. The 11-track EP "Girlz With Gunz" will be their debut release with Glitterbeat Records and will be followed by a full-length album in June 2016

Smooth One comes from the abstract hip-hop scene. He co-wrote DJ Cam's first two albums "Underground Vibes" and "Substance" (Inflamable/Sony Music), and has remixed Air, Tek9, Silent Poets among others. After a live album recorded at Transmusicales festival in Rennes, Smooth One decided to work alone, mainly on film music and managing his own label, Superflux, which released the soundtracks from "New York Zero Zero" and "Exit Port St Louis". "Cloud Chamber" is his second artist album. Very limited vinyl release of 100 copies only.

Novelist and Mumdance are two artists at the very top of their game. "Cold Gettin' Dumb" remains one of the most exhilarating tracks from an era when hip-hop was inventing itself day by day. Mantronik's production was so ahead of its time, and when coupled with Just Ice the combination was pure fire. This song still to this day might be one of the hardest beats ever made in Hip Hop. 10 years after its release Redman tried to recreate the beat for his single "It's Like That (My Big Brother) but the fact that Mantronik had programmed and sequenced "Cold Gettin' Dumb" live you can hear the difference which makes the original beat unmatched.

* After a lot of hard work and long days and nights in the studio, I am very proud to present my debut album 'Obsolete Medium'. Being honest, I was struggling for the last few years by trying to write a certain type of music that I thought people were expecting of me, and consequently not making much progress. I took a conscious decision to let the tunes develop organically and not try to force their direction. What resulted is a very naturally constructed collection of music reflecting my wide range of influences - punk drum fills, techno basses, dusty white noise and neon synths - whilst not heavily mirroring anything too obviously specific, and eschewing many of the cliches of modern dance music production. All the while, not taking the process too seriously and not being afraid to poke fun at myself and the traps of being an electronic music producer. I'm really happy to have a some of my friends on here with me including Breakage, Sam Binga, Hyrogliphics and long time sparring partner Phace. Shouts to you guys. I think that if you have found anything in my production, from the early days of 'Stowaway Dub' to 'Childhood Memories' to more recent tunes like 'Detroit', there should be something on the LP that will strike a chord with you.

* Label-owner and crew-founder, DJ Clent, aka the Low End Legend, has been beating it since the '90s, when he dropped 100% Ghetto - We 2 Ghetto 4 Ya! On Dance Mania, and Hail Mary on DJ Slugo's Subterranean Playhouse imprint. He followed with EPs for Juke Trax, Halsted Street Entertainment, and Blank Mind, before going global with tracks on Planet Mu's influential Bangs and Works compilation, a followup EP called Hyper Feet, and his first full-length, Last Bus To Lake Park on Duck N' Cover.

* DJ Roc aka The Crack Capone was also born and raised in the South Side of Chicago neighbourhood known as the "low end". He started producing in 2001 and DJing in 2005, dropping a series of 'Juke City' CDs via his friend DJ Slugo, then breaking out with his Crack Capone album for Planet Mu, and the follow-up, Practice What U Preach for Duck N' Cover.

* DJ T-Rell is a relative newcomer to the international scene, but brings a strong persona beginning with his movie debut at the age of 1 on ''Ferris Bueller's Day Off'' (during the downtown Chicago parade scene), and DJing since the age of 14. He's had two digital EPs and is featured on the digital-only Beatdown House Compilation Vol 1, via Beatdown House.

* DJ C-Bit is another newcomer to the international scene. You can find his tracks and mixes on local CDs and on-line. He's had one digital EP and is featured on the digital-only Beatdown House Compilation Vol 1, via Beatdown House.

Instrumentals from 'Fundamentals' - the Parisian producers third solo LP on All City... Limited edition..This record, a paean to 90s hip hop & r n b long players, wears its golden era inspirations proudly on its sleeve. Far more than the sum of its influences its a retro futuristic sound looking back but thinking forward. A collaborative project with a busy line up, which has taken a while to cook up, the features run the gamut from back in the day heads to box fresh ones.

The new MPM producer series kick starts with Testiculo Y Uno better known as Hulk Hodn (Huss & Hodn) and Twit One (Fleur Earth Experiment) from Cologne. About the Hi-Hat Club: MPM have teamed up with photographer Robert Winter to take a look behind the beat, into the bedrooms and makeshift studios of today's beat generation. Every Hi-Hat Club volume consits of an LP - limited to 500 copies - packaged with Rob's photos and accompanied by more pics on the Hi-Hat Club blog plus additional infos, free beats and drinks. Exhibitions in records stores and galleries are in the making too.

Big Grams ist ein neues Projekt, dass sich aus OutKast-Mitglied Big Boi und dem New Yorker Electro-Psych-Pop-Duo Phantogram zusammensetzt. Nachdem die drei bereits 2012 bei den Songs "Objectum Sexuality", "CPU" und "Lines" auf dem Big Boi-Album "Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors" zusammengearbeitet hatten, veröffentlichen sie nun gemeinsam Musik unter dem Namen Big Grams. Die erste Veröffentlichung ist eine EP mit sieben Songs, für deren Entstehung sich die Formation die Sieben Todsünden als thematischen, roten Faden wählten. Zu jedem Track kreierten Big Grams überdies ein Video.
