B From E presents Surreal, a new EP on Baldo's Physical Education. The release brings a groovy club sound, mixing tech house rhythms with funky and electric elements. Across the record, B From E plays with tight drums, warm basslines and catchy synths designed for the dancefloor. Alongside the more energetic tracks, the EP also explores deeper and more spacious moments, adding a dreamy and atmospheric side to the release. For their second release, Shimmy turns to JK47’s ‘Vacation EP’, a mysterious record that slipped onto the shelves of Toronto record shops in 2003 and is now sought-after by discerning dance music collectors. Self-distributed by Kaelo Gallagher at the time, it joined a short run of his own releases that were clearly marked by his distinct sound. Combining elements of progressive house, breakbeat and deeper grooves, this EP is no different.

Soaked in dub and psychedelia, the four tracks on the ‘Vacation EP’ offer a unique take on the typical ‘prog’ sound. Crunching percussion meets cosmic synths and tripped-out vocals, with JK47’s iconic basslines rumbling throughout. Whether it’s played at peak-time, after-hours, or the grey areas in between - it’s time to shimmy.

Next in our original series we’re bringing together two artists from opposite sides of the globe, encompassing various influences which have helped make Seven Hills what it is today. Much like how Uruguayan dance music takes many of its cues from 90’s UK techno, not least the bleep influences from Sheffield, we’ve come full circle by becoming, in-turn, inspired by them too.

The A side is commandeered by Molen, making a welcome return to the label and delivering two groove laden, bass heavy tracks, both suitable for various peak-time situations. Whilst on the B side we’re pleased to have Harry Wills, a producer whose technical prowess we’ve respected for a long time. Harry’s tracks are more contrasting: the monster that is Big in the Backtime for those face melting moments, and Scape, a subdued, heady, space-faring excursion.

What lies on the terrain for which no map exists? Tifra has volunteered to take the plunge and find out. For the 28th record on Haŵs, the Dutch DJ/producer steps up to the frontline with ‘Terra Incognita’ - a primitive force to be reckoned with that reveres the hypnotising, ominous unknown. Four investigational tracks unify the checkpoints, wandering through themes of 00s/90s leftfield house, prog, and continuous, undulating grooves.

The EP sets sail with ‘Invoke Hysteria’, scavenging through malevolent, hostile waters and a caution of pad synths, drums and agitated melodies.

Relenting onwards, ‘Serpent’ slinks into a mellow respite, moving slowly and deliberately like a snake in the moonless dark. Deep, resonant synths coil around the percussive heartbeat of the track, weaving together velvet layers of bass, wind instruments and steady, surrendering exhalations of breath.

The titular ‘Terra Incognita’ hoists up the anchor and yields to the trance of the summoning liquid night. Repetitive melodies form the contours of its shifting course, moulding a ritualistic rhythm under the dissolving face of the sky.

Admo steps up to the wheel for the remix, smoking out the initial perfume of the atmospherics into a new, tough brutality. Hauling the track out of its initial spacey orbit, he re-embellishes it with dour synths, drums and a primal, subterranean growl.

Some say that there is no worse poverty than that of connection, so why not be the first to take the risk, break the divide and find out what lies beyond the veil? Otherwise, make your own guesses, and then let them guess who you are.

The dancefloor becomes a temporal loop, always arriving, never staying. Bliss Inc.’s remix dissolves the frame further, a shimmer of parallel timelines collapsing into one. Cosmic G maps the liminal terrain between waking consciousness and neural drift across four transmissions. Synaptic pathways fold into spiraling architectures. Each sequence a deeper descent into the mind's hidden hollow circuitry. From euphoric dissolve to the hum of interior mechanisms, dream state traces the geometry of altered perception where the dancefloor becomes ritual chamber. An invitation to slip into the frontal cortex and navigate the frequencies that rewire thought itself.

Lanzieri, the Uruguayan hero, once again elevates the sound of his nation with a solid release in which he clearly manages to narrate a story that unfolds across the 4 tracks of the EP.

The narrative is dense with dark atmospheres and unexpected twists; the flow is steady and the storytelling clear. The sound is harsh yet mellow, the background broad and diverse, with traces of trance, electro, and even trip-hop. A solid release on the new Auto Crash Test.

New label Species hits the ground running with its debut release. The outlet is an extension of globally-renowned booking agency Pieces, and will feature music exclusively from the agency’s roster, which includes some of the scene’s most formidable and talented DJs and producers. The first release comes from an exhilarating project - Punky & The Brain, AKA Otis and Paul Lution. Described by the duo themselves as “scientific experiments” the music is a fusion of playful excursions with their lab equipment, and their musical knowledge.

Together they have been experimenting in the studio, merging incisive technical prowess with straight up dance floor-focused rhythms. Their field research has tested emotional variables on numerous research subjects through live performances in the most renowned clubs. A Fender bass guitar and vocoder bring another dimension to their studio exploits, and this EP is the result of their preliminary scientific findings…
