It was in June of 1980. After a long and intense journey through time and space, Rupert Marnie met spiritual highness Frater loannis and became his apprentice. The Magus told him invaluable things, like controlling his precious bodily fluids and the holistic mastery of others' endocrine glands. The greatest wisdom though reached him on his seventh day, when Frater loannis professed him an an-cient ritual that would allow him to meet the Titan Ufohagen, also known as CDboy. It was the 4th, when he appeared, dressed in a long, slim silk cloak, a sprinkling wand in his right. Rupert stood in awe, immediately losing his newly gained fluid control, and started crafting a piece of music, that would remind mankind that not all is lost, as long as there is almighty Ufohagen.

Formed in 1983 as an experiment to break the mold of the classic disco dance sound, Charlie was the vehicle for musician and producer Maurizio Cavalieri who had found fame with Italian disco group Firefly. Cavalieri had been listening to the new crop of UK Synthpop and New Wave like Depeche Mode and Heaven 17 and wanted to create a more electronic, futuristic sound. He recruited his friend Giorgio Stefani to help write the song and compose lyrics. Spacer Woman' was recorded in Vicenza, Italy and released by Cavalieri's own Mr. Disc Organization in 1983. The track features the signature Italo Linn Drum machine as well as the Roland TR-808 and a Yamaha DX7 for the arpeggiated synthesizer melody. "Spacer Woman" spans over seven-minutes and features the spaced-out vocals of Stefani's wife, who sings through a vocoder. The single has become a cult revival track since its appearance on the legendary I-f mix CD ''Mixed Up In The Hague'' in 2001. This reissue also features the sought after instrumental mix where the sharp synthesized bassline really comes to the forefront. For the first time ever, the 12' is housed in a silver, metallic picture sleeve with an android female model drawing, taken from the original 7' jacket. Each copy includes a 2-sided post card insert with lyrics. Eerie and unforgettable more than 30 years later, Spacer Woman' is the ideal robotic space-age love song.

An explosive mix of shuffling breaks, tribal tinged house and chant like vocal incantations. The 3 tracks of the EP were each inspired by three volcanic islands: La Reunion, Maui, and Bali (Boom Yeah, Haleakala, and Badai respectively) using handmade percussion instruments from each of the islands of origin.Boom Yeah EP' is released on 12 vinyl and digitally with a remix of the title track from Matthew Herbert.

Electronic Emergencies' first release in 2017 is Histoire d'une Ame by Peine Perdue, the acclaimed synthpop/minimal wave duo from Paris and Berlin. The EP, which is divided into four tableaux, tells a story that was inspired by 80s cult movie Therese, directed by Alain Cavalier, about the mystical suffering of a nun who becomes a saint. He is Luca Rocca atagliati, best known as Dj Rocca, a veteran dj and producer from Italy,half Ajello, half Supersonic Lovers, half fromCrimea , a third ofElectric Tree and regular contributor with legendary Dj's like Daniele Baldelli or Dimitri From aris. After his multiple releases on labels like Is It Balearic , Nang or Futureboogie, Luca joins to our beloved rotten city with two original tracks showing his darker, narcotic and narrative side, concocting a bizarre and labyrinthine disco, which develops a spiral shaped staircase from the inside. He is the same Dj Rocca away from the cliches, who seek for more punch, more flexible rhythms, heartfelt emotions, and does not pursue the easy impact. Channa Six and Popi box are composed during a period in which he was searching for new sounds, creating a sort of cosmic pshychedelic aggressive taste of sound as far as Channa Six is concernid and a soundtrack abstract style in regards to Popi Box. Technically the tracks are based on a main arp, thanks to his new toy (at the time) Doepfer Dark Time, and both tracks have that spooky sound thanks to the Korg Trident synth which is a champion within the retro future sound. Many influences can be named here: Firstly, Channa Six was composed when he was really into listening to albums from Liaison Dangerous, Shock Corridor and Shrieckback... that sort of new wave sick electro with a huge mental big emotional atmosphere are very prensent in the track.Popi Box was made when Luca was really addicted to Soderbergh's The Knick series,and the Cliff Martinez soundtrack really blew his mind at the time. That is also very noticiable. The Ep is complemented by the personal approaches of British MR TC (Optimo Music) and the legendary Justin Robertson (Deadstock 33s). Thefirst one, if possible, makes the original a bit more druggy, while the second cut makes Popi Box sound more mechanical and industrial, creating that feeling of waiting for euphoria to break down. Insane.

Mystica Tribe, the dub tribal master from Tokyo, drops his 5th EP and it comes with a superb Chrissy remix. Taka Noda aka Mystica Tribe returns to his own label, Mystica Tribe Records, with this banging 4 track dubby techno-ish bomb. It's deep dub all around on titletrack Jade Eyes, with the trademark Mystica Tribe melodica lifting the spacey, catchy oriental inspired melody. The Chrissy remix of Jade Eyes is a dubby disco party banger, instantly ready for the dancefloor. There are two more dub beauties on this EP: Love Light and Nightbird. Both tracks drive on deep melodies with Nightbird having beautiful oriental influences. It's the soundtrack to a Japanese spaceship crashing into the desert, its passengers getting picked up by passing nomads, ending up in a smoke filled oasis with palmtrees and belly dancers. Essential stuff for dub heads.

For their first release of 2017, Phuture Shock Excursions venture further afield with an accomplished remix package, featuring two reworks of Nubian Mindz'(Colin Lindo) soulful house gem 'Somebody Else' - which appeared in its original form on last years 'EXCURSIONS' # 3 split EP.

On this bold occasion the Bristol imprint have enlisted the masterful talents of Cavern of Anti-Matter - the latest side project led by Stereolab co-founder Tim Gane. Having so far remixed songs by mainly indie-rock artists, the Berlin-based outfit turn their hand to the disparate realms of underground dance music for the first time. Also lending their seasoned expertise and going against the grain is Sean O'Hagan - the frontman of experimental indie-pop stalwarts The High Llamas.

Residing on the A-side is Cavern of Anti-Matter's epic reconstruction, which eschews the synth- heavy kosmische explorations they're widely known for, in favour for a more dance floor-leaning direction that takes Lindo's vocals on a funky, kaleidoscopic trip across the galaxy via 80s Detroit. Laced with crisp drum machine beats, groovy analogue synth lines aplenty and lush shimmering chords reminiscent of Gane's former groop, it sits somewhere between the raw electro-funk of Cybotron and quite possibly what The Neptunes would sound like if they made techno. While on the flipside Sean O'Hagan serves up a dreamy dub, where select fragments of the original vocals float across soothing passages of live instrumentation. Before the arrangement seamlessly flits between moments of jazzy electric piano grooves and swirling organs, through to melodic baroque pop interludes in 3/4 time - that probably wouldn't sound out of place in the scene of a Pixar animated movie. Shy of just three minutes in length, it's delightfully short and sweet, yet leaves you wanting more upon every listen.

Jago was the studio project of Michele Violante created in Milan, Italy in 1983. The line-up also included Luciana Cirrillo aka Kynsha, who wrote lyrics and sang back up vocals. The name Jago comes from Iago, the main antagonist in Shakespeare's 'Othello'. In those years, Michele produced a lot of songs and published material for Full Time Records. I'm Going To Go' was recorded at Forum Studio in Rome in 1983 and released on Full Time the same year. He made an electro-funk demo with a Gibson Les Paul, but during practice the song became soulful funk but arranged with new wave electronics. The song revolves around a slick atmospheric bassline, driving electronic percussion, and tight rhythm guitar and synths. The setup for the recording was a Casiotone MT-40 keyboard, Boss DR-55 and Sequential Circuits Drumtraks drum machines, an Akai cassette recorder, and a Revox A77 for multi-tracking. Lead vocals were done by session musician Bruno Kassar, delivering Kynsha's playful lyrics along to the lead melody. Also on the A-side is the Instrumental Version which became a hit in New York after Larry Levan played it repeatedly at the Paradise Garage. Full Time asked Levan's long time friend Frankie Knuckles to make a remix. It was released in 1985 as the Plant Mix', and is included here on the B-side. This was Frankie's first released remix, although the record label misspelled his name as 'Frankye'. The remix clocks in at over 8 minutes, and is a dub edit made using the stereo master of the instrumental track.

Polyop was formed in 2015 by producers Jack Driscoll, Harry Orso and visual artist and programmer Alex Kempton. Since then they have been researching and developing a visual-audio experience that fuses nature and tribal culture with the machine. 'Ceremony' is the first exploration of that aesthetic, with their own take on acid house, they take the subject on a hypnotic journey through an alternate sonic-visual reality.

Kemp mutates 'Ceremony' into something between disco and techno, the kick and bassline thick and pulsing, whilst the percussion syncopates infectiously. The track progresses into a crescendo, which is amplified by the cavernous feel of the mix. This is certain to hypnotise 3am dancefloor-pagans into a state of worship.

Ontario electronic experimentalist Brad Weber aka Pick A Piper releases his most gripping and emotional collection of songs yet, Distance, on March 3rd. Weber - also known for his role in dance favourites Caribou - has ventured everywhere from Chernobyl and Guatemala to the Canadian Arctic, northern mountains of Japan and south America since his first release as Pick A Piper.

On this new album, he lets that influence show. A bewitching slow-rave travelogue of sounds and stories picked up along the way, it's a record that simmers with both the excitement of adventuring to these locales, and the melancholy of the people you leave behind to visit them. It's a great source of heartache, but also a great source of joy,' Weber explains of an album about trying to balance connectivity with chronically being away.'

Alongside band mates Angus Fraser and Dan Roberts, Weber has been making music as Pick A Piper since 2009. What started off as a strange campfire folk project has mutated across one EP, a remix album and a self-titled 2013 album into a boundary-pushing polyrhythmic beast that takes influence from '70s Turkish psych, classic Afrobeat, synth pioneers like Laurie Spiegel and contemporary club music.

Sound eclectic Wait till you hear Distance. From the Gamelan percussion of 'January Feels Lost', inspired by recent trips to Bali, to the hypnotising sway of 'Further and Further' - a collaboration with shoegazey J-pop hit-maker LLLL and singer Makota - the album is the first time Weber has let songs breathe, not forcing them into a common aesthetic.' The result is an collection of tracks that throb with unrestrained ideas and invention. I'm a fairly positive and reflective person,' says Weber. But I'm also antsy, restless.'

The stories behind on the songs on Distance are almost as unique as the sounds within. Two tracks emerged from an email sent to the wrong person,' laughs Weber. Bevan Smith, a friend from New Zealand that I know from the touring band of the Ruby Suns, sent me an email by accident, meaning to actually address a different Brad.' They started sending ideas back and forth that eventually resulted in 'Geographically Opposed' and 'Bathed In Light', the album's airy opener and emphatic closer. 'Still Awake' meanwhile is about the sleep paralysis Weber has wrestled with since age 18, with 'Nikko' named after a Japanese mountain town Brad visited with his wife in the calm of mid-winter.

One of the biggest breakthroughs for Weber making this album was learning to slow things down at times and allow the music to dictate a natural pace... The result is a lot more subtle pieces that break away from our dancefloor-flirting aesthetic of the past.'

DWN (aka Dawn Richard) is one of music's most distinctive voices and songwriters, developing her own unique style via a tirelessly independent route. DWN's last album Blackheart was FACT Mag's #1 album of the year, and was in Best Album of 2015 charts by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vogue, LA Times, Spin, Elle, Noisey and The Guardian, who called it the most ambitious and revelatory album of 2015'. Her first single of 2016, 'Not Above That' has sold over 2,000 units and 1,200,000 streams across Spotify and SoundCloud, and she followed it with a series of show-stealing shows at SXSW (at the Pitchfork, Spin, FACT and Hype Hotel showcases). She also collaborated with Kingdom on 'Honest', which received Pitchfork's Best New Music. In April 2016 DWN became the first ever artist to perform live in 360 degrees on YouTube, as part of YouTube's collaboration series with The Verge. She also partnered with Wired for the release of a virtual reality version of 'Not Above That', and recently curated her own Boiler Room in London, performing from a specially-build LED pyramid. With future collaborations in the VR world due for release, she looks set to continue breaking down barriers of music, performance and technology. Her new solo album REDEMPTION strikes the perfect balance between future-facing electronic music (with production from Machinedrum and Noisecastle III) and the music of DWN's New Orleans upbringing, bound together by an untouchable approach to song-writing and flawless vocal range. The final part in a trilogy that started with GoldenHeart and continued with Blackheart, it represents her most focused, complete album yet.

Pinkman follows up a slew of lauded 12's from Dollkraut, Robert Auser and Herzel on his blooming imprint Charlois with another addition from label favourite Timothy J Fairplay. Through releases on Tusk Wax sub Horn Wax, Astro Lab and Andy Blake and Joe Hart's World Unknown, the London based producer has - through his off-kilter productions - garnered a trusty following of listeners who will relish his latest outing on Charlois.

'My Etherealrealness' kicks things off with tape saturated drums propelling interweaving sequences and nostalgic lead lines before 'Phantom Trap' sets springing kicks bounding under tense and sweeping melodies. Pressure builds behind a wall of coiling synth lines before 'Flying Saucer Review' lays a reverberated thud under playful percussive flashes and more adroit synthesis.

Fluttering textures and gentle tape purrs persist throughout as the tracks dismantlement gives way eerily flickering tones that cap off another prime addition to the Charlois catalogue and another solid 12' from artist going from strength to strength

Tristesse Contemporaine. Act III, Scene 1. After the first album (self-titled "Tristesse Contemporaine") a form of a declaration of independence and the second ("Stay Golden") rising above the rest, their third, "Stop and Start" will come to close the existing trilogy, and begin a new cycle.

The trio at the head of this veritable voyage through time and space, is a motley crew that found each other in Paris: Narumi from Japan, Maik from England via Jamaican roots, and Leo from Sweden. The essence of what they play as Tristesse Contemporaine is two chords, minimal instrumentation, all mixed with maximum reverb. This is a particular idea of "less is more" which is more applicable to pop music. Abandoning "the middle of the road" the band focused on ten tracks where they put their cards on the table and the petal to the metal.

Karty continues to host Deep Listening events in Detroit, as part of her ongoing certification. VIKI moves fluidly between sound worlds, street-smart as well as school-smart. In 2016, she co-curated Detroit's inaugural Trip Metal Fest, which hosted Morton Subotnik, Heiroglyphic Being + Marshall Allen & Danny Ray Thompson, among many others. VIKI has toured with Wolf Eyes, ADULT. and Paper Rad's Extreme Animals. She is also a member of SLIKI, a duo with Stallone the Reducer. She actively practices and collaborates in live multi-channel speaker performance in acoustically interesting spaces and club situations. Gagarin is the solo project of Graham " Dids" Dowdall. He makes instrumental electronica that doesn't adhere to any particular scene or style and draws on influences ranging from contemporary classical to techno and every point in between and beyond.

Currently a member of avant rock legends Pere Ubu and Welsh-Iranian folktronica duo Roshi ft. Pars Radio, Gagarin has a long history of left-field musical promiscuity. Including a long period of collaboration with Nico ( Velvet Underground) and many dalliances along the way include John Cale, Ludus, Eric Random, Suns of Arqa, Band of Holy Joy, Low Bias, Zor Gabor and many more.

As Gagarin he has released several albums and contributed to numerous compiIations and remix projects.

His last album Biophilia received widespread acclaim andwas described in Mojo as " electronica in its rawest sense " and in Musicweek as " deeply beautiful glitchy electronica - stunning ". Other reviews and airplay include BBC Radio 3, BBC6 music, RTE, RUM, RNE, deBug, Westzeit, Rockerilla, Vital Weekly, Raveline and many more.

Under his given name Graham released an experimental cassette Outside Broadcast in 2014 through Touch's Tapeworm imprint which is based on sounds sourced from analogue radios ,and is a eulogy to that dying format.

Aoticp includes some elements from this alongside abstract grooves ,unstable synth melodies, floaty ambience, field recordings, grimey beats, glitch and noise.

Gagarin gigs regularly in UK and Europe with a hardware combination of drumpads, samplers, iPad and FX.

London-based music and art label Earnest Endeavours announce their signing of Pomrad, from Antwerp, Belgium. The 23-year-old rising electronic savant and jazz trained keyboardist, producer and live performer's debut EP 'Vlotjes' was released in 2012 on OohWee Records to a feverish fanbase built around his electric stage shows. Bestowed with a raw funk conjured from his mastery of keyboards (he started playing keys when he was five-years-old), keytars, samplers and talkboxes, Pomrad draws on disparate influences from Herbie Hancock to Zappa and DJ LeFtO, and continues to build his reputation via a certain European futuristic sensibility (as displayed via 'Hot Rain', featured on the third volume of visionary compilation series 'Brownswood electr*c').

John Talabot's Hivern Discs label starts afresh in 2015 by introducing a heretofore unknown duo known as INIT. Te pair hails from Frankfurt's Rhein-Main region and comprises Nadia D'Alo` and Benedikt Frey, both of whom were featured on the title track of Massimiliano Pagliara's 2014 LP on Live At Robert Johnson. Frey's cosmic, plodding, and house-related analogue experimentations have also appeared on the iconic Japanese label mule musiq, and this penchant for moody kraut-infuenced psychedelia and atmospheric synth explorations is enhanced by his team up with D'Alo` on INIT's debut album "Two Pole Resonance", set for release September 14.

Benedikt Frey is building a steady reputation both as a Producer (with releases on LARJ, Mule Electronic, Nous'klaer Audio and his own LOPASURA imprint) and as a DJ with a long-standing residency at the legendary Robert Johnson and increasing international bookings. einräumte, hätten die Stücke auch einen ganz anderen Titel haben können, denn mit Ballettmusik im
eigentlichen Sinn haben sie nichts zu tun. "Ich hatte die vier Stücke ursprünglich als eine Komposition
gedacht - zu Ehren meiner Mutter, die Balletttänzerin war und 1998 gestorben ist. Weil es die erste
Produktion war, die ich direkt nach dem Tod meiner Mutter gemacht habe, habe ich ihr den Titel 'Ballett'
gegeben und die vier Parts einfach durchnummeriert." An den Aufnahmen beteiligt war einmal mehr
Wolfgang Tiepold, seit 1978 Schulzes "Haus-Cellist". Wegen des Cellos haben die Stücke einen leicht

Den Soundtrack schufen A Winged Victory For The Sullen. Hinter der außergewöhnlichen ollaboration verbergen sich Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie und Dustin O'Halloran. Sie trafen den Regisseur Jalil Lespert erstmals, nachdem dieser bei einer Online-Recherche auf A Winged Victory For The Sullen gestoßen war. Als er ihre Musik hörte, wusste er sofort: Die beiden sind perfekt für meinen neuen Film! Man einigte sich darauf, einerseits im Bereich der analogen Elektronik mit
modularen Synthesizern zu experimentieren und andererseits mit einem großen Streichorchester zu arbeiten, um eine gleichermaßen moderne wie cineastische Klangpalette zu entwickeln. From the realms of Buenos Aires' legendary and undocumented nightlife comes a new EP by DJs Pareja - who have been generously introducing us to their nocturnal dancefloor visions since the very beginning of Cómeme, shaping not only the label's sound and message but also influencing heavily the modern takes on Techno in Latin America.
Here's their EP "Alto" literally meaning "High", and this is where it's supposed to take you and surely will.
ALTO: The title track is up there, sleazy and ecstatic, with Mariano (ever responsible for the vocals in this outfit) incessantly repeating: "me siento alto" (I feel high), playing with this very literal translation into Spanish over a throbbing bass line reminiscent of the most sensual variations of crooning techno such as "Erotic Illusions" by Nick Holder or the most darkly seductive productions of Baby Ford or Closer Musik.


BWOO: This tune is direct; this tune is made for the impact on the body mechanics. We had to think of Munich, of Cologne in the 90ies but - true to the Pareja's credo, lacking of any nostalgia, instead looking forward with bouncing acidic euphoria that knows no yesterday and no tomorrow.
CLUB DE LA LOCURA: Always clinging to the utopic idea of the dancefloor as an unreal place of dream and magic, a place of craziness (locura), a place the aliens, DJs Pareja's "Club de la locura" keeps manifesting this idea, associating it with something obscure, and so they say: feline.
MAD BOX: The name refers to a small and very cheap synthesizer locally produced in the outskirts of the capital. It produces a crazy drone that is present throughout the whole track, Diego and Mariano also using other cheap and small gear and pushing it to its limits. The tune somehow sums up the different ideas and vibes of the other three tracks, their intensity and chaos, their electric sensations, being the probably most spaced out of the EP, and inevitably hypnotic and lysergic

Side A sees Legowelt doing an edit kind of song in the most Legowelt way possible and its not even an edit. The result ... craziness my friends, as can only be done by the mad man himself.
Side B is quite a different beast, and one that is quite dear to our heart, as it is the debut of local producing duo Dos Attack. Not ones to release much info about themselves we only know that their debut track was so good it was decided to be put on the other side of a Legowelt track.

After a couple of well received remixes, here comes the first full grown ep by Benjamin Fröhlich, who is also known for being one half of the Permanent Vacation enterprise. The range spans from synth-driven electro to hypnotic beat tools, industrial acid jams and 90s UK-influenced - melodic breakbeat. Four tracks that are universally applicable in the world of dance music.

Continuing with a series that focusses on brilliant remixes of I-Robots originals, Opilec Music now bring together two more Italian legends of the scene in Alexander Robotnick and Daniele Baldelli & Marco Dionigi.

They both turn out reworks of Kind of Intrigue from 2009 as part of an ongoing project that is all based around the impact of Isaac Asimov's Laws of Robotics and features art by Tamami Saito. Santiago Salazar and Mr. Raoul K, Los Hermanos and Gary Martin and more are all part of this ongoing concept which again comes up with the goods here. Alexander Robotnick is a living electronic music legend from Italy who pioneered an Italo disco sound in the 80s and is still going strong.

From scoring films to remixing big name stars via turning out essential electro tracks, he is a top talent who proves that once more here. His excellent version of the original is built on firm kicks and has big colourful chords, wavy bass and twinkling melodies all making for a serene, spaced out groove. Muttered vocals and sci-fi signifiers all make it a hot and steamy affair perfect for summer sessions.

Daniele Baldelli is a cult star from the Italo world and here he teams up with Marco Dionigi to make for a dream production pairing. Dionigi is boss of Quantistic Division and has turned out many seminal albums and EPs since the mid 90s. He was there at the birth of digital technology, has created new genres such as Slow Motion and knows how to cook up a hypnotic melody, as evidenced here.

Their take on Kind Of Intrigue is more subtle and stripped back. It has widescreen synths stretching in all directions, wet and gurgling disco arps and spoken word monologues musing on robots. It is perfectly trippy and analogue and is stuffed with classic Italo vibes of the sort that will make it a big hit with boat parties crew and Balearic lovers everywhere this summer.

This package is another in a long line of classic but modern disco releases that prove Opilec Music does things properly each and every time.

Two Parisians, Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris, exiled in London for the better part of the last ten year set out to re-define space. It's a fine line was born from non-restraint, cultivating its own vision of house music and disco, a paradoxical one, a non-functional one.

Their first LP (thought, rebuilt, announced, delayed) reveals itself as a collection of tests, of explorations in the shadows and corners of club culture. These are murky roads where counterfeit goes for gold standard, perfect territory to lose oneself in order to find ones way. Leaving behind the smooth highways of club music, they rode more chaotic trails, with dubious reputation or names: white funk, trance groove, electronic psychedelia, greasy, rock'n'roll... A risky path, ambivalent, proud of accidents, crashes and bad taste, but the only real way to discover virgin grounds on well-trodden terrain. They are writing their own (hi)story.

For this album, Tim and Ivan recruited three double agents, the flame of Alex Kapranos, singer of Franz Ferdinand, the mysterious voice of Olivia de Lanzac from cult band Quad Throw Salchow and the pitched down, spectre of label companion C.A.R. Three tweaked but prominent voices, joining in an album that confounds through the coherence of its eclecticism and the rigorous mirage of its style.

Renowned artistGareth McConnell adds his indispensable touch to the artwork and video, encompassing the exact image of this record: hypnotic and kaleidoscopic, a celestial trip recorded on an used VHS tape.
