Here comes something unapologetically goth.

Male Tears is the dark electro group consisting of vocalist, James Edward and synthesist, Frank Shark. Hailing from Los Angeles, what began as a solo project re-established itself as a duo in 2021, simultaneously moving from the breezy sounds of the first self-titled album to darker realms with their sophomore Trauma Club.

Krypt is their third full-length recording and it shows a fully grown ensemble capable of pushing everything over the top; blending elements of darkwave, goth rock, EBM and futurepop into a sound they call Dark Rave.

Naturally drawing inspiration from the Californian goth tradition (45 Grave, Christian Death) and the Canadian post-industrial brood (Skinny Puppy, FLA), as well as the best UK synthpop (Depeche Mode, The Human League), Male Tears emphasizes the most glamourous, and at once, gruesome aspects of the whole gothic subculture, bringing everything to the next level, resulting in a contemporary and cutting edge album.

Eight new cuts that alternate rarefied synthwave (Krypt), dark eurodance (Slay) with goth techno-pop (Sleep 4Ever) and pounding electro-industrial (I Expire) to create something we may call New Romantic Body Music. It’s no wonder we wanted the scene’s top studio, La Distilleria, run by Maurizio Baggio, to master this for the most bombastic outcome.

And yet Krypt is not just about the music, it’s about one up with the times attitude that can review aggressive EBM in the light of an extravagant pop sensibility and a theatrical grandeur worthy of the Blitz Kids from London circa 1979-80.

You may think it takes quite a bit of nonchalance to do so but the L.A. duo easily succeeds at this. Akin to their aesthetics, they may seem spooky from the outside but their approach is nothing stuffy. Quite the contrary, everything regarding Male Tears is a celebration of life’s most bizzare shades, driven by some of the best dark humor you’ll find around.

Presence Unknown is a new vinyl and digital label curated by longtime producer and DJ, Neil Keating aka Controlled Weirdness. Neil has been behind the decks and deeply involved in all aspects of club and underground sound system culture since the early Eighties. He has released his music on numerous underground labels and performed all over the world, from plush clubs to dirty warehouses.

The first release on Presence Unknown contains two mutant machine funk excursions from Controlled Weirdness crafted using a variety of analogue and digital hardware in his South London studio.

Alison Goldfrapp has set a towering bar for British synth-pop in the 21st century and she’s only just getting started. The magnetic London-born singer, songwriter and producer’s seven albums with Goldfrapp were fuelled by an unfailing modernity and a sixth sense for sounds that were more timeless than any trend. With the release of her debut solo album The Love Invention—an electrifying dance-pop suite—her multi-faceted musicianship reaches a new peak.

The Love Invention marks Alison’s reawakening as a dancefloor priestess, in an intoxicating showcase of the disco and house influences that have always been at the heart of her musical DNA. “So Hard So Hot” bottles the ephemeral joy of a dancefloor with its anthemic house beat, disco handclaps, and an exquisitely alluring vocal from Alison. The sense of uninhibited liberation courses through album highlights like “In Electric Blue,” a yearning synth-pop confection with a chorus as blissful as love’s first butterflies. Sicilian-born, UK-based DJ and producer Clafrica has been heavilyinfluenced by the dub and reggae sounds from a very early age and thegeographical proximity to Africa allowed him to soak in the various culturesthat exists in Sicily - moulding him into the musician that he is today. Fastforward, he makes his Darker Than Wax debut with Never Not Balling - adazzling sonic exploration of nostalgia, vintage circuits, and basketball.Owing his first musical exposure to the Space Jam soundtrack and 90sbasketball video games, as well as his first time seeing a DJ courtside atthe And1 Mixtape European tour, Clafrica's love of both music andbasketball have always gone hand in hand. After honing his craft as a DJand studio engineer from as early as 12 years old, and moving from Sicilyto Edinburgh in 2010 to further his studies of sound design, Clafrica hasemerged as a certified production mad scientist and studio boffin in his ownright. Fast forward to 2019, Clafrica emerged as one of the most excitingnew producers on the scene with a string of releases on labels such asAxe On Wax, Vakum, Deep&Roll, and Perpetua.

Asked to describe his music to a new listener one might falter. While it's true that there is a very specific sound at the core of his music, it is the fluid nature of Deetron's work that defines him as an artist. Yet there is one word that can be used to sum up this dynamic musical mind and the polymorphic sounds that he has mastered - Maverick.

Departing from the accepted course, a free-spirited, non-conformist both musically and in his chosen path within the industry; this distinguishing characteristic is also the life-blood of Deetron's studio work. His broad musical palette the bedrock from which a myriad of pleasureful sounds have entertained and held firm fans across the globe.

His second album, which will be released on Music Man Records, finds Deetron in a unique, transitional phase. The vocal element of his music coming to the fore, with Music Over Matter he proves that there is no substitute for substance and skill, putting music firmly back in the frame is the message, and how poignant to today's tumultuous industry!

A prismatic mosaic of vocal textures and expertly crafted grooves, Music Over Matter takes flight through the bounds of Deetron's musical persona, working vocals in unexpected ways through the deepest, most colorful and penetrating moments. A new facet to the multi-dimensional Deetron sound. From cranked up four to the floor and voluminous deep house grooves, to dream-sequence synths, elegant drum-programming and powerful melodic signatures, there is not a single moment of this album that won't thrill those craving a hefty interjection. Yet as motley and satisfyingly eclectic as they come, each track of the album is connected through a deep vein of soulful musicality.

Joining Deetron for the trip are old friends such as Ripperton and Cooly G, who lay the foundations for the album with their opening track 'Thinking' - glitchy scratchy Techno, which blends in perfectly to Deetron's collaboration with the inimitable, cosmic surfer Seth Troxler with whom he throws down a golden gauntlet of pitch-bent synths and heightening fervor with their hypnotic 'Love Song'. Deetron's hit single with Hercules & Love Affair also features...

Flipping genres so elegantly, Deetron teams up with Belgian vocalist Delv!s for an old-school Motor City influenced vocal number, which is followed by the beautifully smooth vocal talents of Ben Westbeech who produce a perfect melody-drenched house track, which will also be Deetron's forthcoming single. Deetron's collaboration with Fritz Kalkbrenner adds a seriously unique twist to the album, with rich vocals resonating over Deetron's orchestral soundtrack.

Teaming up with Justin Chapman again for 'Strange Things' with Simbad along for the ride results in a gorgeous slab of deep electronica... George Maple provides the perfect vocals for 'Rescue' with her (yes, it's a woman!) ethereal vocals washing over you in pure delight.

Music Over Matter also features pure instrumental tracks by Deetron, including 'Sing', 'Come Away Further', 'Count on Me', 'Can't Love You More' and for your listening pleasure has added the 2011 hit 'Starblazer' as a bonus track.

From a producer, whose unrelenting passion is the mark of his music, Music Over Matter is a reflection of the vibrant landscape upon which he so fearlessly treads... A bold, panoramic stroke that will appeal to so many more than just the intrepid nomads of the underground.

T4T LUV NRG present the first vinyl release by Gynoid 74, the beloved Glaswegian DJ known also as Miss Cosmix. Label heads Eris Drew & Maya Bouldry-Morrison (Octo Octa) met Gynoid 74 through their work with the queer Shoot Your Shoot event series in Scotland. Gynoid 74 has been DJing for 20 years and has shared her knowledge of DJing and sound with so many artists in Glasgow that she’s truly beloved there for her contributions to the scene. She’s as likely to be DJing as she is to be working sound at a local club or huddled off in her home studio. The three artists all formed an immediate connection because of their mutual love for old school electronics, tape culture, and proper house music. When the label finally heard Gynoid 74’s original music they were blown away. Gynoid 74 tracks are a truly refreshing mix of 12-bit sampling and raw breaks alongside “tracky” house music that could have come from Chicago in the 80s, but didn’t. The songs on the “Shroom E.P.” are elemental and elegant, each one recorded on a limited kit of gear by a special artist who makes timeless music for herself, creating little worlds of her own to exist in.

The vinyl release includes the incredible original artwork of ocypode_quadrata, which beautifully illustrates Gynoid 74 in communication with her snails and mushrooms.

New York City"s tape_hiss makes his debut on Darker Than Wax with A Linear Progression, a deep and meditative dance record born out of the pandemic"s paradigm shift. tape_hiss is an accomplished producer by any measure, with early releases on Love Notes from Brooklyn making his hardware-driven sound known worldwide, and a string of follow up releases on Axe on Wax, Just Jack, Lost Palms, and Echocentric Records solidifying his reputation as one of the deepest in the game.
