In 2014, Ultramajic's Jimmy Edgar received information about an East Detroit storage unit auction containing vintage recording equipment and historical items of Detroit Techno descent. We were only able to take a 1 minute peak at the dark and dusty unit before the bid, it was clear there were at least 1000 vinyl records and some miscellaneous recording equipment. ULTRAMAJIC came into the possession of over 100 DAT and 1/4" reel tapes. One box contained meticulously dated tapes from 1995 -1998 with sharpie inscription "ASHTAR LAVANDA". We had never heard this name and google search didn't bring back many results. We had uncovered a hidden treasure of Detroit Electro. The Ashtar Lavanda tapes led us on a journey to find out who the producer behind the sound was, and furthermore how did this music never get released After nearly two years, we managed to connect with Ashtar Lavanda to present this music to you. Like others during this time, Ashtar Lavanda was sharing lesser known analog studios that catered to electronic music artists during the late 90s. Studio time was expensive so the tracks had to be recorded same day. With this release and upcoming archives of his music, he will be known as one of the true pioneers in late 90s Detroit Electro alongside artists such as AUX88, Ectomorph, Dopplereffekt, and Drexciya. "I just wanted to see my music on New Dance Show, I wanted to hear it on 97.9FM but I didn't have the hustle to get the music out there" Ashtar Lavanda resides in Detroit to this day and currently works in the medical industry.

This 8 tracks album on double vinyl is a vivid depiction of the
Lithuanian artist top-notch production skills, his wise use of subtle
melodies and harmonic progressions, as well as his pointed dancefloor
instinct.

The first cut, 'Balboa' is a funky French touched house tune, while 'Next
Station' is a deeper excursion into esoteric atmospheres, laid back
drums and world of sounds.

'Rhapsody' is a fast paced ballad, evocative and profound, that
display Ten Walls´s trademark ability to deal with hypnotising
arpeggiated bass-lines, as in the slower disco-infected following
track, 'Rocky'.

The compelling 'Age Well' stretches out Jonatan
Bäckelie´s precious voice on a body of marmoreal drums and an
enchanting bass line .

The even slower reduced drums of 'Transition' and its bubble-chamber
dub gradually prepare us to the dreamy ride of 'INK' featuring the
vocals of Daddy was A Milkman).

Finally, the exquisite 'ReExtended' mix of INK melds an
orchestral score, Pop and electronic music with dazzling sensitivity.

David Gtronic is very well known for being a fundamental member of the famous Vatos Locos crew and for his badass releases on Dissonant, Kina music or Sci-Tec records. David was born in Colombia and he's now based in Berlin, from where he delivers this awesome EP called Kryptoo.A
Kryptoo is a minimalistic journey of rough, metallic, cosmic percussions and spongy bass lines. Deep pads and chords in constant evolution make these tracks a true hypnotic experience. Topping it up we Ahave Dan Farserelli remixing Sequence, probably the punchiest and most direct track in the album.

Ever since SAVED001, Skylark presents Buick Project - "Chancer / Drop The Beat" Saved have stood as a benchmark for quality whilst nurturing new talent and pushing the envelope for electronic music as a whole. After a slew of acclaimed releases by Equiknoxx, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Shinichi Atobe and Mica Levi in 2017, Demdike Stare's DDS start 2018 in typically unexpected style with a remastered reissue of David Moufang (Move D), Karl Berger, Jamie Hodge, Gunter Kraus and Jonas Grossmann's gorgeous sophomore Conjoint album, Earprints (2000).
Conjoint was the little-known but hugely regarded ensemble founded by David Moufang two decades ago, featuring techno pioneer Jamie Hodge, Deep Space Network's Jonas Grossmann, acclaimed jazz guitarist Gunter Ruit Kraus and, most intriguingly - Karl Berger (Jazz Pianist and Vibraphone player for Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry and George Clinton to name but three).
The ensemble are accompanied on Earprints by Andrew Pekler, Anna-Lena Fiedler, Burkhard Höfler, and Kai Kroker, among many others, and flesh out a full frequency spectrum of instrumental and electronic timbres, precisely yet louchely coalescing a timeless and cool blue sound that is entirely respectful to its roots, yet dares to imagine them in an altered context. In that respect it's an influential, memorable precursor to Jan Jelinek's acclaimed Loop-FInding Jazz Records that was eleased the following year.
Democratic in its construction and flush with pregnant contemplative space between and around the notes, the lasting impression made by Earprints is indelibly classic, quietly awaiting immersion by a new wave of listeners who will no doubt marvel at its many charms.

Originally released in 2001 on Omni AM's own Euphoria imprint, Tubes for Allah is a rolling tidal wave of beatdown tech house from an era when that wasnt such a dirty term. One of their most sought-after tunes is available again on wax accompanied by a drum mix by Mark Ambrose and two unreleased tunes rescued from the Kastmaster session DATs.

PL007 is the beginning of a duo with Praymond and Thomas Murphy. It all started by setting up a temporary music studio in an old farm made of stones in the french countryside during the heat wave of Summer 2016 in France First, plug a microphone and start recording a couple of dry leafs crunched with gentle hands and mixed with the sound of ice cubes tingling at the bottom of a "Pastis" glass add to this some brushes played on a newspaper and fingers banging on the edge of a Kalimba, then finally, build around with your drum machines and analog synths. The result is a classy brand a alternative minimal techno, mixing acoustic rhythmics and relentless swing. None of the tracks were designed for massive "big room" type techno with "big drops" and never ending "build ups" but more for human size bounding experiences and never ending after partys. Both slow burning tracks have in common a introspective quality, specially "Les Cailloux" but both tracks remain "Solar" in essence. "Cadillac" has a more "Gold tooth & Chains" attitude to it and could remind the listener (If he ever had the experience) of being on the run in a get away car, stepping on the gas, crossing the desert with an open roof top after robbing our dear financial institutions :)

Applescal has to date released on labels including Ghostly International and Traum Schallplatten, while the efforts for his own label Atomnation have seen him welcome music from the likes of Gidge, Weval, David Douglas and Sau Poler, amongst others. Voted at a very respectable #03 for XLR8R's coveted 'Best New Act' in 2015, Hessel Stuut is a member of Polynation and has significant experience not only playing live music, but as a producer, visual artist and designer too. Together, they form Deltawerk, a dynamically electronic duo whom when united create human and lucid music, which feels as much at home in an underground rave as it does in an open-air live performance. While there is a faint echo of artistic collision, the album undoubtedly provides an eerie sense of unity for both Pascal and Hessel's own discography, conserving the warm subculture of
analog and modular instrumentation.

After a somewhat productive break, Shadow Sanctuary boss Dexter Kane returns to the fold with a brand new 4

Hollywood Medieval is an album about the glaring disparities and elaborate, underlying convolutions the composer observed and felt while working as a nanny for wealthy parents during his film composition studies at UCLA in the early part of the 2010s. Using an augmented palette of classic DX7 and Juno 60 synths along with a severely warped bank of library samples and iPhone recordings, it spells out a queasily evocative simulacra of the city in flux, animating a sort of Ballardian tableaux that's hyper-descriptive in its rendering of the hazy, dosed-up, and often
delirious transitions between Hollywood's glamour and grime, using LA's gurning facades and ostentatious wealth as prompts for a richly visual side of sawn-off emotive signposts and jazz-
taut turns of phrase that vividly etch on the memory in neon freehand.
From the dizzying sugar rush of the opening sequence, Hollywood Medieval I, to its spiralling counterpoint in Hollywood Medieval II, the album is an inception-like concerto, with Maxwell smartly subverting the film score composer's role by placing the music centre stage and allowing the narration to be carried by virtuosic flourishes owing to the artist's classical and jazz music

In a sense, Hollywood Medieval resonates with the way Sam Kidel subverted the nature of ambient music on Disruptive Muzak (RAVE014), and offers an alternative, lucid view of the hazy LA offered by Delroy Edwards' Teenage Tapes (RAVE005), and likewise, works like a present diagnosis of the dystopian future worlds dreamed up in The Sprawl's dystopian, widescreen visions on EP1
(RAVE013), effectively broadening and illuminating The Death of Rave's own sonic hauntology.
