Aion, or Aeon, in the tradition of Greek cosmology, was the personification of Time, with the more famous Kronos, corresponding to Saturn Latin. Revered as "Lord of Light", Aeon (AION) represented eternity, infinite time, as well as the succession of eras. Just time talking this new vinyl published by JAM TAXX: somehow it shows how the same song, born in a given context in time and space (a marginal Italy of the late 70s sets in a still immature europe) can be re-interpreted 30 years later with a new spirit, remaining in part what it was originally, but also becoming another completely new thing (that didn't exist before) ... The statue of the boxer from the Roman stadium of the marbles, pictured on the cover, is juat Aion represented as an athlete who fights between light and shadow, past and future, divided in half just like in the inner label of this precious vinyl, in sharp contrasts and games of symmetries used in the graphics of this speial edition (white vinyl) ... Over the past 20 years, genevan duo SINNER DC has built a solid yet discreet reputation on the international electronic music scene. Their ethereal intergalactic yet catchy melodies, full on emotions and melancholy, became throughout the years the band's trademark. Co-published by the prestigious Museum of Ethnography of Geneva and swiss renowned Mental Groove Records, this first album entitled MEG/CDG inaugurates a new series of CDs devoted to contemporary compositions sourced from the monumental audio archives of the Museum (read below*). MEG / CDG's backbone contains music from Romania, Niger and southern United States, from the mid 30's to the early 50's that the genevan duo Sinner selected while browsing the museum database . Martinez returns to Concealed Sounds and delivers a wicked two track 12" of that deep hypnotising sound that we know him for of late. This record kicks off with "The Path" a 10 min journey though sub bass, glitchy rhythms and haunting high pitched sounds. A perfect tune for that late hours on the dance floor! On the B side we find "Wigflipped" a twisted little number of minimalistic funk. Cut up voices, bleeps, broken rhythms and a light but powerful kick drum make up the foundation of this
track. The kick drums switches constantly between 4/4 and breakbeat, making the main groove ever developing. A bit into this 14 min piece some dark rhodes chords are taking over leading it forward. With its swirling and hypnotising feeling through out, its a perfect tune for the after hour. As always we have something extra hidden on this vinyl... Rising stars on the Greek house/tech scene Gus & Bonso have been making a solid name for themselves via promising releases on Quantized Music, Rhythmetic and Recovery Tech. Their debut EP for Wrong State continues their impressive trend.
The Priest channels a classic tech house feel, warm muted chord stabs providing a counterbalance for the classy bassline action. Spooky vocals bring a tinge of drama as the rhythm snaps away unperturbed. It's a highly infectious track, everything fitting into place perfectly to make for irresistible dancefloor wiggling.
Nothing Between is a prime slice of truly deep tech house, with a seductively bubbling bassline throbbing away under filtered, sustained synth chords that resist the temptation to erupt out of their dubbed-out depths. An irresistible, low-slung male vocal adds texture and contrast as atonal bleeps punctuate the crisp percussion.
Moving Shadow moves into techier territories, but not at the expense of grace and subtlety. The pitter-patter percussion provides the energy as eerie, delayed stabs pan across the stereo field. Morphing pads give the track a tense, atmospheric feel as the subs boom away down low.
Romania's Egal 3 (Memoria, Chelsea Hotel Records, The Rabbit Hole) provides a softly tripped-out reinterpretation of The Priest, all spacey echoing synths and subby tom bass tones.

Misanthrope CA is the Black Metal influenced formation by artist and photographer Robert Kulisek and David Lieske aka Carsten Jost, co-owner of Dial Records. After their first limited tape redition "Amerika" (2015), Deathbridge is a full-length album recorded in the Hamptons, New York, in collaboration with the Oslo gallery "VI, VII".

A collaboration between Items & Things label boss Marc Houle and Grenoble born techno/electro legend Miss Kittin, IT022 sees the release of Where is Kittin: a six track EP featuring two original tracks, as well as remixes from Dubfire, John Foxx & The Maths, and with two further edits from Miss Kittin herself.
Building on the disco-not-disco, industrial and new wave influences of Houle's recent Items & Things long-player Undercover, the two originals on Where is Kittin demonstrate the wide-ranging influences and potent pairing of the production duo: the title track a jagged hybrid of Houle's signature style and Kittin's deadpan vocal talent. In sharp contrast, A2 track Black Star presents an equally driven, yet slightly more ambient affair: its haunting synth lines, detuned claps and granular vocals a poignant reminder of the pairs production abilities both on and off the dancefloor.
High profile remix duties come from SCI+TEC techno mastermind Dubfire, as well as John Foxx & The Maths: a recently formed musical project featuring electronic music pioneers John Foxx and modular synth experimentalist Benge. Dubfire furthers the main room potential of the EP's title track, with John Foxx & The Maths bringing the male vocal line to the forefront, turning the track into a roaring techno/electro-pop live hybrid.
With Where is Kittin also acting as a succinct accompaniment to Miss Kittin's double album Calling From the Stars, out on 22nd of April via wSphere/Wagram, Kittin appropriately rounds off the package with a further two of her own edits, a pair of eloquently stripped-down digitally exclusive versions of the EP's two title tracks.

For all the black gold lovers, Baile Musik proudly presents very first vinyl series that will be in stores in summer 2014. This massive V.A. features four tracks by Fresh Juice members Crocodile Soup, Jessica Diaz and Monika Ross including a guest appearance by the Dutch beauty Lilith.
While Jessica Diaz and Crocodile Soup represent their dark side with some heavy bass, Lilith s track builds a bridge to Monika Ross, showing the opposite with a very jazzy tune for the happy situations in life. Crocodile s - L homme mystere' is all about the grooving bassline that steps through rainy territory in an atmosphere of an Italian gangster movie that finds its climax in a mysterious phone call.
Miss Diaz s - Tres' keeps on that flavor charged with some typical dub sounds and vocal whispers here and there that keep the experience going on. If you listen close you will hear all the little noisy details snap- ping in your eardrums from all directions. While those two are four to the floor groove based tracks, Lilith and her - mani Padme' comes along with some super cool drums paired with a sad mood in an experimental ambience of arabic voices and chants; a pure masterpiece if you like endless rhythm within a story of love and faith.
Madame Magic', produced by Fresh Juice member Monika Ross, completes this release with its tech-house beat enriched with melodic parts that make you feel like you are sitting in a jazz-café. You can hear the people talking in the atmosphere while the groove carries you through the story in a very smooth manner.
All in all this vinyl is a great and round package packed with quality music for the early and later hours. It will definitely make people move on the floor with nothing but groovy minimal and tech-house.

These days house music is often about a 4/4 beat and a catchy groove. The idea is to do something simple to which you can get your groove and, and not so much about listening. The borders of electronic dance music makes room for the hypnotic beats, the driving grooves, but not always the melodic universes. Leman & Dieckmann have been making music for several years, both together and apart, but almost all of their music was driven mainly by the beat. But both having an urge to discover the dynamics of melodic synths and melodic percussion they decided to make an album. They agreed that the album had to tell a story, and like so many times before in music the topic became love. The story they try to tell through the music on the album 'Takes Two' is the story of a breakup, the denial of the need of love, and the discover of the fact that often in life it takes two, to be happy. The album features the Swedish/Danish jazz singer TYRA on the groovy house track 'Movement' and the percussion based Balearic inspired track 'The Meeting'. Also the title track 'Takes Two' is featured by the Danish singer Ms. O, who, on top of beautiful Rhodes chords and minimal drums, manages to tell the story of sincerely need and unrequited love. 'The Stranger', a track about the autodidactic act of a one night stand as a part of moving on, is featured by the very talented Danish singer Julie Christiansen. The album, which consist of 10 original tracks, ranges from the deepest atmospheric Deep House to groovy Tech House to old-school trancy house. 'Takes Two' definitely differs from the masses, and bring a breath of fresh air to the circulating sound of 2014 .

Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia are household names that really need no further introduction. Their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. Amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. Such is the case of Sideways, their latest LP, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
The first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. Although most of the tracks fit the usual SIT musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. Assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. Permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. Brooklyn's deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it's best. For sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. On a more joyful manner we are presented next with Bootcamp's sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
Mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does Come Around. While the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. Come Around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. A great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the Sideways LP trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.

The second of the UNTLD Protagonist Series, by Furz, savours the spirit of Alfred Tailor, an influential figure in the development of the bright young artist, whose first EP is strong and smooth, with raw energy, sultry and primal. The title track is remixed by Laurine Frost, who inspired by the South American hypnosis of the artist, takes it further, developing the dialogue and deepening the percussive structure, whilst maintaining the mystique and spirit of Alfred Tailor. The second original work on the record, entitled 'Torino Soul' is an ode to the automobile of Alfred Tailor, it opens serenely as if racing through the valleys of Cordoba's horizon, scenery rushing by on a hot day. Amidst this, the mechanical metal of the engine revolves in it place, as we are rushed forward, and the voice heard a memory both of the machine and the man, Alfred Tailor.

Idriss D's second installment in his Dib series on Memento comes with an original track backed by a remix from Spanish maestro Eduardo De La Calle. Titled Alger', it's a heartfelt dedication to the Algeria capital, a city that was a key factor in Idriss growing up and formative teenage years. The feeling and mood of his youth are the inspiration behind this superb piece of music, a diverse work touching on several levels of composition. The Original opens with a field recording intro followed shortly after by heavy bass shots and a pulsating kick drum. Snare patterns and an underwater synth melody hit the speakers with an abstract touch, while halfway through the pace changes with a new bass coming in. An experimental and brave track, it reflects Idriss' DJing style and his long sets, going into different mental spaces, a wavelike combination of beats and up&down rhythms. Eduardo De La Calle's trademark analog sounds fill his Tribute remix with acid keyboards, rim shot grooves, industrial noises and metallic vibes, swinging with a rolling bass line and bringing the original percussions to the fore.
