Continuing the exploration of Bristol 4/4 variants, Immerse proudly offers forth this decisive two-tracker from the prodigious mind of Jacob Martin, better know as Hodge. You might be more familiar with Hodge from his work as part of Outboxx, who we proudly debuted on ime025. That said, he first surfaced last year with the deadly 'Conjecture' on another fine Bristol institution, Pollen. One thing rings true in any of the output Hodge is associated with; melody. Shirking the safety of sterile mechanics that so many producers hide behind, he tackles interplaying notes and harmonies with a fearless exuberance. Opening track 'The Fall' kicks off on a jerky groove and ice-cold organ murmurs, gently easing in layers and clips of sound with the same joie de vivre as Akufen and other micro-house progenitors. 'Crush' kicks off on a more decidedly broken tip, keeping the twostep shuffle slow and easy as whispers of garage skip in between the warm pads. The overriding vibe on Hodge's EP is one of unpretentious, good times tunage.

Tagträumer²'s first full release on Friends Electric Records is another example of the unique partnership between England and Germany, a well-established foundation in many Friends Electric releases. The A-side is an all-German affair, with the opening track belonging to Berliners Robert Stolt (aka Tagträumer²), and co-producer Ronald Christoph. The original track is Jacking House, which encompasses a nice Berlin twist. The second track belongs to an unashamedly rave-inspired Let's March remix by Remute. Hamburg resident Remute (aka Denis Karimani) completes the German connection before turning to an all-English flip side. Leeds native J Alexander kicks things off, taking things a little deeper with the addition of some well-placed vintage synths. Fellow Northerner Denney takes things "back to basics" with his Rave Ears remix, which holds true to a classic Chicago House ethos.

There are five key names in the Chilean electronic movement, there's the well-known Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos, there's fellow Rebels Dinky and Pier Bucci and last but not least there's Dandy Jack. All of them have played a massive part in pushing dance music in the right direction over recent years and it's testament to the vision of Crosstown Rebels to have 3 of the 5 artists on the label.
Dandy Jack (aka Martin Shopf) is a master of electronics and known for his collaborations, whether it be with Tobias Freund in Sieg Uber Die Sonne, Ricardo Villalobos in Ric Y Martin or with Jorge Gonzalez in Gonzalo Martinez, each project represents a different side of his personality and skill but with a constant link between electronic sound and Latin flavour. He's recorded for labels such as Perlon, Cynosure, Playhouse and Rather Interesting and is a permanent fixture on the club circuit, regularly playing at clubs and events like MUTEK Festival, Panorama Bar (Berlin) and Fabric (London).
Andres Garcia is a classically trained composer from Geneva with a love for electronic music. In recent years he's produced electronic music with artists such as Phill Quenum (Cadenza) & Lee Van Dowski for labels like Mental Groove.
The musical vision of John Keys is to take classical elements of traditional dance rhythms and put a modern twist on them. 'Torturing Lines' does just this, a 12 min odyssey continually developing, twisting and turning in new directions. On 'Rumba Triste', first heard on the recent Jamie Jones - Get Lost 2 album, the classical training comes to the fore in this incredibly detailed homage to a classic South American rhythm section. 'A Caballo Por Manhattena' features hyperactive beats, a steel guitar and harps amongst other things. It pushes the boundaries of electronic music - it is future techno!
