House Vinyl New Releases - News

next strong various artist release on houseworx with tracks from matt star, dirty culture, frank leicher and robert drewek.

With their label debut by False Prophet still a fresh fixture in many discerning boxes and winning support from selectors such as Magda, Appleblim, Brendon Moeller, Slam, and Laurent Garnier, recently-minted London imprint Take launch right back into action return with this second release, courtesy of newcomer James Fox, with a prestige remix from Hessle Audio Ramadanman on the flip. The original cut starts with a dry, pared-down 4/4 kick, weaving vocal snippets and found sounds into the sonic field before downpitched 808 bass and lovingly-processed stabs take turns to push things along. Across seven minutes, the track gracefully unfurls heady rolling beats and lush sweeping strings for an hypnotic interpretation of deep Detroit-esque house placed in a contemporary bass-emphatic setting. Ramadanman's minimalist refix increases the tempo and filters James' synth work over a rattling and spluttering 2-step beat, ramping up and reeling in the tension before an extended drop fades out the beats to provoke a startling shift in mood.

DB049 is by two of the best new school groove specialists in the game, Sascha Braemer and Philip Bader. This is Sascha's third appearance on dirtybird and Phillip's first but the two have been friends for many years. Both guys have their own amazing labels now (Sascha runs Supdub and Philip runs Dantze) so we are very happy to be able to still get a cool record from them on dirtybird. We'll leave the title of this "Friends and Honey EP" up to your imagination but both trax are money in the bank. I welcome our friends from Berlin to the San Francisco family an we hope to see these two over here in the USA soon on tour. enjoy, VonStroke
