Pelle & Townston´s track "The Who", starts off as a groovy stripped down beat track but develops more and more into a rhythm monster with very cool breaks and a few melodic sequences that add a soft clubby touch to the track. The B-side, "Requiem for three Cellos", is a mixture of cool drugged out beats and haunting sounds that remind us a bit of Vapourspace aka Mark Gage's "Gravitional arch of 10".

CROSSTOWN REBELS CONTINUE THEIR QUEST TO UNEARTH THE FINEST TALENT FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE AND PROUDLY PRESENT NICO PURMAN.

When it comes to independent UK dance labels, Crosstown Rebels are without doubt one of the real success stories of recent years. London based, Damian Lazarus and his army of Rebels have played their part in making the capital, once again, a hotspot for underground producers and DJs to live, party and perform. But the label is far more global than you might think; extensive touring the world over has increased the brand tenfold and there is a special love for the label in South America, where Lazarus DJs regularly throughout the year. Nico Purman is a classic example of Damian signing a relatively unknown artist from a demo received in the post and further continuing the special bond with the label and that part of the world...

Nico, like many producers of electronic sounds, started his musical journey at an early age with formal music training that quickly lead to playing in local bands and spending all his money on the latest records. Introduced to the New Beat sound of Belgium in 1989, he soon discovered and fell in love with Chicago Acid House and spent the 90's promoting and DJing at his own parties pushing underground club music to the masses. After carving a niche for himself as one of the best Argentinean DJs, Nico started producing his own material and with his friend Gustavo Sacchetti they formed ARTIFICIAL and released the Artificial Plastico EP on Karmarouge. Solo projects and some amazing remixes on Modelisme and Sinergy Networks quickly followed.

Nico's sound oozes cool... It's deep, sexy and modern. The main track Luantique is a stunning piece of work, with a fixed crisp beat and a meandering synth line he manages to encapsulate the signature South American sound so well, with murmuring vocals deep in the mix and subtle key changes making it pleasure to listen and dance to. CalorHumano is a slightly darker affair, but lacks none of elements that makes it's former so good, this is perfect late night material. Voodoo works around an altogether different groove and really showcases Nico's percussion talents, with layers of bongo's combining beautifully with heavy chord stabs, deep atmospheric chants and a rolling bassline.
