It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Opium is currently the most talked about club North of Berlin. Vilnius based spot has built its reputation slowly but surely to become one of the brightest lights in the night sky of Europe. The club has earned the admiration of local crowd, loyalty of visiting artists and respect of industry insiders by nurturing unique local talent, bringing cutting edge House & Techno acts on a weekly bases, building a devoted community and rocking the parties of the highest intensity and unprecedented intimacy. Its no wonder Boiler Room and Resident Advisor both came knocking on the door in 2017 for special features and events.

2018 marks another milestone in club's incredible journey: the first ever music compilation entitled 'Opium of the People', a rock solid collection of 13 unreleased tracks by core residents and the members of extended Opium family from all around the world featuring Tel Aviv's producer and song writer Autarkic, Australia-born-Europe-bound New Age travellers Dreems and Kris Baha, Canadian smooth operator Thomas Von Party, Frankfurt's Musikmaschine Lauer, German-Mexican studio encounter of Sebastian Voigt & Theus Mago, Berlin based Spanish fashionista Hugo Capablanca, Detroit legend Sharif Laffrey and Russian crate digging trio of Leonid Lipelis, Sergey Krylow and Ilya Simonov under the name of Plungerbird x Beard in Dust. Most of them are coming to Lithuanian capital's hot spot so often, they could easily start their own fan clubs in town. The local talent also gets a well-deserved attention. Manfredas, Siaubas, Pletnev, and V find their place on the compilation and bring the modern sound of Vilnius nights to the vanguard.

'Opium of the People' has been conceived and compiled by Vidmantas 'V' Cepkauskas, the head of programming and resident DJ of Opium, a well-known contributor to the electronic music scene for nearly two decades. He has reinvented a friends-to-friends after-hours place into an international music institution in a matter of six seasons and is the best candidate to curate and present 'Opium of the People'.

The next release is brought to you by rising star Nolga. Nolga recently burst onto the scene with a sublime collaboration with UK's Michael James on the mighty Hoarder label. His sick minimal style has worked its way into the sets of many Romanian minimal artists such as Arapu and SIT. Fresh of the back of releases on RubIsco and Aesthetic, Nolga is shaping up to be the hottest new property in the underground scene. On remix duties we are delighted to welcome Silat Beksi who’s been a huge favourite of ours over the last few years. Finally Niko Maxen brings his signature rolling groove to round off the ep.

When three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record on first listen. When Isolée sent his "Mangroove" EP to Maeve, this was in fact what happened. But it is Isolée after all....
Mangroove came about last summer when The Drifter happened to catch Isolée's live set at a festival in Switzerland. Instantly blown away by the A side "Pisco" he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. After chatting, Isolée suggested that he would send "Pisco" along with a couple of other "demos" to Maeve and a few days later the EP was happening.
Isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do, thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work.
This three track EP shows several different sides of the Frankfurt native, from the A-side dance floor catalyst that is "Pisco" to the deeper dubbier B-sides of "L5 Syndrome" and "Mangrove". This is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.

Deep Tech Records owner Duky joins forces with good friend Thomas A.S. to deliver something very strange and mysterious. Bodeler, Miro Pajic, and Danilo Schneider also contribute to the release as remixers to complete this very special vinyl EP.

Few of our friends have been working with us since day one so it is with great pride and emotion that we welcome our "very fantastic" friend Dachshund back on the label. The Geneva artist graces us with two originals that we simply had to feature on our Limited catalog.

"Dream" is a nice bouncing shuffled groove with a hypnotic loopey character to it, smoothly arranged with scattered delayed vocals creating a clever yet slightly confusing "smokey" club atmosphere.



"Feel" is nothing short of a true masterpiece of electronic music. A "pizzicato" stripped-back dry beat and metallic modular sounding percussions take us on a mental and disconcerting trip. We litterally fell in love with this number - it's dark but not too dark and its insane synths and vocoders abruptly making appearances almost scared us at times: very entertaining! Perfect for the early hours of the morning, keeping the mind's attention and the hips in motion. Nothing is obvious, each role is interesting and perfectly executed. Thank you!

The new sampler on Siena has arrived! Number 4.0 is a real dance floor filler. The A1 comes from Lonely Planets Records artist; Sinan Alakus, who opens the EP with his raw drums and sharp synths. For this second release, ARPEGE have a pleasure to introduce the London’s duo A2 from Alien Recordings and Dario Reimann from Frankfurt on the A side with two modern and complementary tracks. After his beautiful second album 'Senang' on ESHU Records which opened the year 2018. Ivano Tetelepta is on fire! For Siena he comes with another double 12". This time, this package has some serious dance floor attitude. From steady beats, smooth melodies, to uplifting vocal groovers featuring Smokin' G and even a slowtek remix by his friend, Roger Gerressen. Grab it, dance it, we call it HOUSE music!

Kirik's sound is very personal. Delicate yet sophisticated, he deploys an intricate web of emotions in a multilayered space. Memory Remains EP is the perfect example of this complexity.
On the A-side "Not return velum" there's a peculiar balance between sound and silence, a balance representative of Kirik's ideas towards musical arrangements. Soft vocals appear under noble pads and groovy broken ancient percussions with majestic kicks. Everything is meticulously intertwined by sacred reverbs.
"Special day" is a stroke of light on a cloudy day. Melancholic, yet romantic. A contemplative combination of warm melodies and groovy minimal drums.
On the B-side, "In sadness" takes us into a gloomy atmosphere, but slowly drifts us into a new dimension created by a interstellar light texture, with a soothing voice reminiscent of a dream. In the end, it lifts itself out of the sadness when we least expect it.
All of us have someone who flew away. This EP was dedicated to Kirik's grandfather, someone he deeply loved that passed way from our world to a better one. In the end "Memory remains" was written for all those who remember our beloved relatives, and friend looking at us from the stars. Thank you Kirik! Thanks to all of you for the attention.

Bondage Music reveals the latest installment in its 'Bondage Games' series this March as Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales deliver four original compositions for Part 5.
Launched in 2008, German imprint Bondage Music has established itself as quintessential imprint for many within the world of stripped back, high quality house music, releasing material from the likes of Mihai Popoviciu, NTFO, Markus Homm and Tuccillo across the past 12 months alone. Their 'Bondage Games' series has also become a key fixture in the calendar, and here we see the label follow up their 2018 instalment with another vinyl only EP this March, with four fresh productions from Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales.
Frankfurt's Sascha Dive opens the package with 'Dark Night', a slick house cut guided by deep, dubby chords and entrancing vocals, before Frink's bubbling 'Vega' ups the energy and welcomes bright melodies amongst rolling percussion. We had a great start with his remix for our previous release. Now, for our second vinyl, incolor delivered us 2 groovy minimalistic tracks, as he had lately got used to delighting us.

Platform 18, known as one of Glasgow's most distinctive parties drops a solid no nonsense 4 track EP made for the dancefloor. Comprising of 3 original collaborations from the Platform 18 residents Ivan Kutz, Niz and Craig Hamilton backed with a remix from former Parisian turned Berliner Alexkid. The label set up to showcase the home-grown talents of the residents and collaborative efforts amongst friends.

'First Touch' a collaboration between Craig Hamilton and Ivan Kutz opens the EP with crisp percussive elements, solid grooves and trippy hypnotic leads. Before continuing with Alexkid's interpretation of the lead track, a more stripped back, dubby and somewhat moodier groove. Synth drones and obscure stabs add texture alongside scattered hypnotic tones, over driving rhythmic elements.

On the flip 'Reflections', marks a collaboration between long time Platform 18 selectors Ivan Kutz and Niz. Deep dubby drones dominate throughout over peppered percussive elements and layered key stabs. Carefully placed spoken word vocals lead us through the break rounded out by slick beats. Hamilton and Kutz close out the EP with'Dark Matter'. Gritty dark tones layered with arpeggiated keys over intricate percussive elements. Dubby analogue stabs and an uncompromising sub add just enough tension to drive the track forward.

The Nose is refined and subtle, prognosticating the anterior with prudent designs on the superlative. It determines future tastes and emboldens the flavours of the contemporaneous, operating on a discreet and inconspicuous level with the other senses.

Oslo DJ collective Det Gode Selskab looks to the nose as they undergo the transformation from event series, festival and residency to label. DJ / producer and longstanding affiliate of Det Gode Selskab, A:G takes first watch on the first in a series of EPs to indulge the senses and set the DGS collective on a new trajectory.

A:G plays in the sensual dimensions of Tech-House on Nese (or Nose for the anglophiles), blending the metallic percussive textures, reminiscent of the rampant dance floors he calls home, with the refined extemporisations of a keyboard flitting somewhere between Jazz and Soul. Phasing in and out of an interminable repetitive percussive loop is a nasal synth line that establishes the root of the track for melodic percussive parts and deep, warm House keys to launch into the ether. A:G is in search of some exaltation to sophistication on Nese, something to propel the rudimentary to the erudite, as each phase builds on the next, foregoing formulaic arrangements.

Taking A:G's original to the booth is Microman Dandy Jack and his sniffing orchestra on the Nose operator mix. Dandy Jack hangs on to a bare thread of the original, moving the bass line to deepest echelons of the frequency spectrum where primal urgency dwell. Sophistication succumbs to primordial urges as Dandy Jack sets his designs on the dance floor, leaving the door open for Karl Faunhofer, Solaris and Tod Louie to find that middle ground.

The Central characters around the DGS consortium tap into their intricate knowledge of the dance floor as weekly residents at Oslo club Jæger in a version of Nese, that trots at a less-reserved pace to the original and looks for function over form. They retain a little more than the original than Jack, but beef up the percussive sections with a hefty onslaught of 909 charm and leave Nese with nothing to sniff at.

Like the many faces of Dr Lao, Det Gode Selskab's outward appearance shifts and modulates, between a festival, a travelling DJ collective, event series and residency, and in their latest incarnation they've turned their sights on the hallowed ground of the recorded format with a debut 12' from DGS affiliate A:G, featuring remixes from Dandy Jack and the Karl Fraunhofer, Tod Louie and Solaris collaboration. 'Nese' is the first in a series of EP's designed to tickle the senses as DGS channel the frenzied collective's energy from the dance floor into a 12'. It marks a new chapter in the DGS biography and a new era for electronic dance music in Norway and beyon.

Searching for a distinct sound, a dreamy soundscape that will reach both the mind and the soul, Particular has found the perfect man to deliver their first release.

Co-founder of the Lisière Collectif project, Andu Simion comes from the outskirts of Ploieti, Romania and you can hear the industrial side of the city in his sound. It's safe to say that, while clearly being inspired by the Romanian minimal movement, he has crafted his own particular style: a deep, if maybe just a little acid-infused journey that has landed him last year a huge release on Atipic, Priku's label.

This vinyl-only release starts off with Got To Be Real, a track full of overlapping percussions that steal the show, at least until the heavy bassline unleashes and the sudden change works wonders, making the listener want to get his feet moving. The second track on the A side, Aquarium 00 (name is inspired by the 2000's internet café called Aquarium located in Ploieti), is certainly a change in tone and a more moody affair, full of trippy and stirring sounds, a welcome contrast that works perfectly.

The transition to the B side is a smooth one, as Broken Arch carries this mood on with a heavy bass line that manages somehow to stay in the background, letting the serene sounds on the surface take over.

Azureh, the track that closes things off, is a slow burner and the recurrent but eerie vocal is probably the only constant here, setting up the mood for a track that is constantly evolving. The percussion become more illustrious, the bass grows stronger and a deep, celestial, shivers-inducing sound appears gradually in the background.

The hard hitting « Laboratory » is delivered by More Than Material, the joint project between Jedsa Soundorom and Gauthier DM. With releases on French Imprints like Adult Only, Robsoul and Catwash Records, here the Parisian joins Zingiber Audio with a thumbing sub and choppy vocals as tension building effects come into play. Meanwhile, COR100's « House Test » offers groove-led drums and heady synths with a plethora of supernatural sounds.

On the flip side Jedsa Soundorom and Highpath Records boss Thomas Roland team up with « Bananier » which utilises shuffled percussion, resonant vocal slices and mystical sounds that convey a spooky atmosphere. Finally, Lowwax label owner Carlos Sanchez gives his take with a killer groove using crisp cymbals alongside brooding pads and a frenzied reworking on the vox.

The more after hours friendly "Knock" occupies the back end of the B side with acidic influences entangled with balearic harmonies and silvery grained out melodies.

"Blue Devils" toes the line of it's predecessor with a more bass driven narrative while "Zero Zero" slips into a more atmospheric disguise, finally bringing it home with a "Sneak Peak" into the more minimalistic and syncopated side of Robert, suited best for early hours of the night.

In the Various Artist, we will find new talents as well as some well-known names, a collection that goes from the Microhouse with deep / minimal touches. With a polished and blunt bass line. That surround with their elegant and minimalist groove, the tracks are focus on the groovy, which sounds along with deep synthesizers and with a light touch of acid, and atmospheres of pads and sequences of celestial chords that filter into the mix, together with heavy drums contrasted by light snares and voices that come and go with obscenely hypnotic LFO games, that complement them superbly. We have finally come to the second release of Abstrakt Minded Records. After a small period of wait, and the good success of the Herck’s remix in AMR001, the owners Friedrich Becker and Sabèr have found the right artist to propose for the new release.

Denis Kaznacheev, the owner of Nervmusic itself, seemed like the best move at this time.

With his eclectic sound he proved to be one of the best producer in the underground scene during the last years, showing technical skills that are uncommon and definitely have the power of knowing how to treat the crowd during playing.

AMR002 contains two originals, side A and side B.

Kaznacheev received total freedom in doing what he can do at his best, this is the reason why he had the possibility to spread his technical skills throughout these two long compositions, which are long enough to tell a story.

Both tracks are based on a live arrangement that gives the sense of change at every beat, and a constant moving groove.

The first track (side A) is a 14 minutes journey, starting with a sort of intro where the mysterious vocal introduces one sound at time.

Textures give life to the track, and the groovy bass is the leading part of this.

Everything is framed in a minimalistic drum pattern in a straight 4/4 rhythm, that gives a sense of hypnosis throughout the whole composition.

The second half of the track is where magic happens, and from a dark clubby sound, we get into a more floating and trippy vibe, with a melodic sound that will take you to the next level of emotions.

The second track (side B), like the first one, is such long but definitely has a slightly different vibe and feeling.
Is the perfect contemporary minimal show off. This is what listeners definitely want to hear in a club.

At this time, the rhythm is the leading part, every short and minimal percussion has a sort of swing that creates a groove that gives goosebumps. The always changing drums is what makes the track moving for 15 minutes, they never stop and they are filled with
great FXs.

In this composition the melodic part is not the principal element, however we enjoy the listening of this combination of dark stabs and glitchy sounds that put a big smile on your face, for sure.
