After two in as many years, low-key German producer Yør returns to similarly low key Dutch imprint Purple Maze for his third full outing on the label in the form of the 'Sublimation EP'. Across the four tracks Yør continues to explore the same frayed and decayed, abstract electronics as he has in the past, with distant kins like Kassem Mosse and Morphosis still resonating.
The opener and title track is an intense and moody, nerve jangling affair where huge searching synths pan in the background of grinding drums and dense percussive clatter before 'Gravity', with its heavyweight and churning drums, trudges on through sonic scuzz and lo-fi blizzards as a backlit melody keeps things from growing all too dark and abstract.

The many different contrasting surfaces and counterpointed moods make Yør's sounds as arresting as they are. The dystopian, tortured industrial funk of 'Parallels' with its slapping claps and decaying percussive lines are proof of that, where through chaos comes beautiful order.
Closer 'Trust' holds its head a little higher, more spiralling synths and bleepy fax machines tones add a sense that the apocalypse is coming and machines will take over, but there's enough organic beauty in the deeply hidden melodies to keep the track from being all too hostile.

In a very special edition of our Basement Tracks series, house legends Alan Fitzpatrick and DJ Deeon team up on a Chicago-inspired house track, later flipped by Shall Not Fade family member, DJOKO.

A figure who needs little introduction, Alan Fitzpatrick has long been electrifying dance floors with his big-room selections and production. This EP sees the tech-house icon collaborate with the equally illustrious DJ Deeon on a track which gleams from the Chicago producer's musical heritage in juke and Ghetto house. "Shake That Thang" cruises along a deep house beat whilst Deeon's unmistakable vocal chops float over the top, offering a blissed-out take on the genre before Cologne's house music stalwart DJOKO who brings the funk on a buoyant flip. Rounding things off, "Learning to Love" sees Fitzpatrick fly solo with a sunshine-doused melody and euphoric drops. This one's sure to be heard on festival stages all across the globe this summer.

This EP gets off to a perfect start with "Keep It All Inside", a straight track with dirty kicks and snares meeting rough chords and melodies. Uhhh!

"Luv The Way" cannot be surpassed in its purity and its efficient minimalism. This track should be played at high volume!

The B-side gets us a little deeper with two versions of "Join The Jam" and rewards us with everything that enchanted us in the 90s: smashin' grooves, deep chords and soulful vocal samples become an incomparable musical and equally danceable highlight. Hypnotizing!

Heavily influenced by Moodymann and Andres, new Home Taping artist Simba produces music that is full of soulful echoes, while still dripping in raw house music vibes.

Nothing is too straight in the Simba sound as FX drift around and subtle production touches come at you from all angles.
Vinyl hiss is as important as the kick drum and the overall atmosphere has that classic house music quality that can transport you instantly to another place.

The Black Madonna was the one who drew attention to the rising talents of this young producer. So fittingly she delivers her own 'Lost In Chicago' take on the original, which delights in the track's edginess and the wonderful release of the main hooks.

The first instalment of the Forbidden Dance label is an organic brew of musicianship supervised by one of the Chicago deep house scene pillars - Vick Lavender. Three warm cuts are tinted with a jam feel showing Lavenders well-known ability to gather a different kind of music players and vocalists resulting in a soulful sections that are cleverly breaking the usual and linear electronic music mould. That's pretty obvious on 'Habanos', the opener track which fluently combines multi-layers of piano and synth sections in contrast to tribal rhythmics and flowy marimba background. With Yvette Magallon pouring pure honey with vocal inserts it's a never-stopping dance of the soul elements. Lavender manages to keep the same feel on the B side as well, with 'The Definition' track going off a bit more subtle but at the same time showing a funky edge with a playful bassline. Reverbed percussive lushness and diverse synth teasers are tinting the track with a summer night breeze, something your hips would move to. 'NiteFlye Jessie's Journey' is a closing track and a slow-burner riddled with spacey explorations of the keyboard. It gives almost 80's like feel beautifully integrating subtle synth envelopes and even marimba bits. A perfect deep rounder of this musically rich release. Hats off Mr Lavender!

Anyone who has seen Trent since its KMS interlude with Chez Damier and his collaboration with Berlin's Maurizio duo Mark Ernestus & Moritz von Oswald as a real producer and not only as incarnate 4-Four-house machinery recognizes and loves the other side of his genius and his techno-affinity immediately. This is oriented so on the rawness of the early Chicago House with the initial spark of Farley Jackmaster Funk or Adonis, as well as the fusion potential of Herbie Hancock and performs as an educational base for the forthcoming album "Raw Footage" to an expression of open creative style that extends beyond the normal limits of the genre far beyond otherwise binding. "Kids At Play" touches in a whole both morning wee-wee-hours as well as ecstatic, night club moments, before Trent defines the trackwerk as unusual blueprint for new stringent forms of the House, where this vinyl will also demand his most impressive moment experiences. In Trent's body of work, the track comes ahead of many recordings in recent years on the highest level, mainly because it the dimension of predictability with that of unpredictability in the sense of "more energy and power" exchanges and at the end of an exhibit defines what probably most of today's house conaisseures with an open mind demand as their own. NYC's legendary West End record label has contributed a fair few classics to the disco cannon and continues to influence dance music today with it's forward looking releases. 'When you touch me' is no exception, recorded and released in the golden year of 1979 and featuring the breathy, sensual vocals of a young Tanaa Gardner who had previously worked as a backing vocalist for numerous other projects until the label released her (other) stone cold solo classic 'Work that body' the same year on 12".
Both cuts featured on her self titled debut LP and boasted the combined production and studio talents of Kenton Nix, Bob Blank and of course - Larry Levan. Now, that's a serious line-up to have behind the boards (& in the clubs!) and of course 'When you touch me' was a classic with it's slow, elongated intro that calls to mind a sleazier version of Donna Summer's 'Love hangover' before launching into a full-on disco assault that you won't forget in a hurry! Yes, the record surprises you, Tanaa leads us into a false sense of a 'slow jam' and then - Boom - We're off!
Backed with the incredible instrumental version the 12" is repressed here in it's original 1979 glory, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with West End Records, NYC.

Growing up in Chicago, later Detroit-based music producer, Theo Parrish is internationally well known for his own inimitable downtempo house music style. Originally released in 2014 "Did You Ever" was an instant classic amongst decerning house heads, but it was when Detroit legend, Moodymann dropped it as closing track on his DJ Kicks compilation the year later. The light well and truly spun onto La Luz and her sublime approach of house and techno.

Its been four years since label co-founder Pablo Valentino became a daddy, and almost as old is the idea of him releasing a record on our imprint. So what makes more sense than to dedicate this record to Hugo-João, his son On "My Son's Smile" we can hear a recording of Hugo-João's laughter over a mellow, summery house track that has been a big favorite of Danilo over the years.

With a little help from Lyon producer Patchworks, who played bass on the track, Valentino pulls off one of his most sophisticated productions yet.

GE-OLOGY, legendary Hip Hop and House producer from New York, flips it into a more of a peaktime thing, replacing the Fender Rhodes from the original with layers of thick synthesizer chords and a very vibrant, musical vibe reminiscent of his earlier release on Sound Signature. "Atlantic's Calling" is one of those signature, late night House tracks that Pablo Valentino has been championing both as a producer and Dj throughout the years.

Danilo and Pablo met in the late 90s through their mutual love for obscure Jazz, sampled based House and all things soulful, and 20 years later this sounds like the kind of track that sums it all up, a testament of their musical backbone. Pablo has, like his partner Danilo, started out producing Hip Hop instrumentals back in the 90s, and he continues to do so up until this day. While "Good Ol' Days" is of course a Hommage to that era, it still sounds fresh to our ears.
At MCDE, we have always believed in this sound, the rough-and-ready, smoked-out esthetic of 90s sampler based music, and whether its Hip Hop, House, Techno or anything in between, we are proud to carry that Torch.

Real Feel Records looks to blend old and new in paying tribute to the roots of U.S. house music. Real Feel is the vehicle intended to bring it back to basics and create a platform to boost US-based artists in an inclusionary way. The label is run out of DC, pressed in the US, and will look to elevate Black, Latinx, AAPI, women and TLGBQ artists—new and OG—in the US. The intention is not to come in and Columbus anything--we all know vets in Detroit, Chicago etc have been self-releasing material for a long time; but rather give a channel for new artists while blending in established names.

For its first release, NY DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Toribio baptizes Real Feel Records with the Brown Cocoa Skin EP. The record is chock full of lush, swingy tracks built for the dancefloor. The legendary DJ Spinna contributes the finishing touches with a monster remix.

Detroit legend Alton Miller is back on Quintessentials with another, well yes, essential EP! The follow up to the „Essentials ya dig“ (QE 82) is his new „Run the essentials“, a beautiful deep house release that shows all of Alton’s qualities. Deep and soulful yet raw and groovy, these three tracks include another highlight: Alton Miller’s vocals! Classy and mature proper House music we dare to say!

Chilean born and Berlin based Dinky has forged a solid and illustrious career over the past decade. 'Casa' announces her new album set for release on Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels this Autumn, with remixes from Axel Boman and Satori.
A trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player that has held a DJ residency at Berlin's infamous Panorama Bar since 2004, Dinky's sixth album, also titled 'Casa' will be the first since the birth of her two children.'
Dinky's delicate vocal on 'Casa' is both up-tempo and spacious, with infusions of acid, leftfield and electronica in its veins. Axel Boman delivers a stunning, emotive and epic nine and a half minute dub version, overlaid with spoken word samples referring to lost experiences. The Swedish born producer is much-lauded for his releases on DJ Koze's Pampa, Permanent Vacation and his own imprint, Studio Barnhus, formed with Kornel Kovacs and Petter of Border Community. While the hedonistic take from Satori takes 'Casa' up beyond the horizon. A future Crosstown Rebels artist, Satori has released on 8Bit, Under Your Skin and Bla Bla records.
'Casa' sees a return to form for Dinky and a welcome return to the Crosstown imprint, after previously releasing a single and a mix album for the pioneering label.

Shadow Ray is best known in house music circles as the co-producer of the Oasis 1, 13, 13 1/2 and 14 releases with Omar S, although he is also well known to the Ryan Correctional Facility for more nefarious reasons. The Detroit-based producer has spent the past four years at Ryan earning not only a hard knocked life but a trade in Sound Engineering. That was until Alex Smith (aka Omar S) made a presentation to the facility s parole board to commission a remix of his recent hit >Heres Your Trance Now Dance< as part of Rays work release program! Rumour has it the parole board was inhabited by at least one old school house head, and we re delighted to see Alexs idea come to fruition, with Shadow Ray really nailing it with this remix. Staying true to original s shimmering melody, Ray opts to bolster the bottom end with a raw bassline that creates a nice, fat rolling groove

LA-based compatriot MANIK contributes a rolling, no-frills jam that sticks to the tried and tested production values of early acid as if to say, Why mess with perfection' From his small Amsterdam studio crammed with classic drum machines and synths, Wouter de Moor serves up 'Bon Voyage', a simmering analogue acid jam bedecked with snickering percussive flourishes and long, sustained chords for that blue-tinged Detroit vibe. Pavel Iudin, meanwhile, adds jazzy Rhodes inflections and whistling birdsong to a similarly bubbling groove. Veteran DJ Aakmael adopts the classic Juno bass sound to pay homage to the godfather of deep, Larry Heard, for an exercise in immersive repetition.

Mr. K Alexi Shelby
Like a moth drawn to a flame, there is something utterly infectious about the music of Mr.K Alexi Shelby, better known as K-Alexi one of the founding fathers of house music direct from his home city of Chicago. Since the late 1980s, he has pioneered the true house sound, leading to a DH and production career spanning over 20 years, including collaborations with artists ranging from The Pet Shop Boys to Derrick May and from Larry Heard and Felix da Housecat to Will Smith, as well as gigs across the globe.
An impressionable young teenager, Mr.K Alexi Shelby developed friendships with Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy whilst attending seminal venues like The Warehouse and The Music Box in the mid 1980s. Being here at this embryonic stage of dance music culture, there were no rules or precedents, so K Alexi drew on a rich musical heritage that had seen him grow up in the 70s and 80s listening to Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and David Huff. Those roots continue to influence his music to this day.
It was under the moniker Risque III that Essence Of A Dream was released in 1987, firmly establishing the name of Mr.K Alexi Shelby amongst the most prominent of all house producers at the time. Moreover, those early tracks are still recognized to be the quintessential Chicago house sound. The rumbling and dark bass, smooth strings, incredible percussion and the spoken word poetic and erotic lyrical flow became the trademark for classic Chicago house and the template for everything else that followed. To reiterate, there was no template before this. This was the beginning.
This initial success has lead to Mr.K Alexi Shelby working with the leading names across the electronic music world and beyond. Collaborations and remixes for Chicago peers like Mike Dunn, Mr. Lee and Marshall Jefferson merely served as the springboard for Alexi to work with the best in the electronic scene, from Derrick May to Paul Johnson ,Ron Trent Dave Angel to Felix ad House Kat. Furthermore, his talents have also lead to him working with The Pet Shop Boys and Will Smith.
On top of this, his tracks have appeared on compilations by artists varying from Laurent Garnier to DJ Hell, who used It's Me 2010 contribution to the Body Language series for Get Physical Music. Produced under the Club M.C.M. moniker, the 1991 EP It's Me/Club M.C.M. has been a frequent selection for compilations for 20 years and is rightly regarded as a true underground techno classic.

Finger Prince recordings debut with the ‘Make U Feel Project’

A four tracker with the same assignment handed to four artists including some of the original Music For Freaks and Classic Music Company recording artists.

The first release is a close-knit affair with Lil’Mark handing out the project to who he regards as three close family members. No brief was given with the material so that all versions were unique. No spoilers either.

First up on side A, Mark provides a true groove with the swing he’s renowned for. Chords, catchy muting, stabs of vocal and a heavy rolling bassline sets the scene. Straight up house.

Track 2 is from Pale People who takes a great dub approach looping the bass and keys beneath the Vox adding tight percussion reminiscent of his Phonic Crunch collab’s with Mark. After a long hiatus it's great to have him back.

Side B Track 1 comes from Rob Mello doing his ’No Ears’ spectacular. It’s the Classic No Ears sound making great use of original elements and sounding fantastic as always.

Belgium’s export to Ibiza Bart Ricardo gets the final say on track 2. Taking it deeper Bart brings stretched chords into focus over a HEAVY kick and big bottom end. This track has a relentless groove with some well executed breaks.

Before relocating to NYC in 2020, Pontchartrain invited colleague Javonntte over to record several songs together at Pontch’s east-side Detroit studio.

The collaboration yielded several songs that blend Pontch’s studio prowess and dramatic sound, with Javonntte’s wide ranging performance skill, and soulful style. “Cirrus”, as the name suggests, is a deeper cloudy synth-heavy house track, previously selected by DJ Holographic for release on Carl Craig’s Detroit Love vol 6 compilation, but get’s an updated mix & master, as well as a seriously heavy remix by fellow motor city deep house honcho, Delano Smith.

“Keep Dancing” features additional vocals by Javonntte in a hard hitting and highly playable “Detroit” version, as well as a completely different version re-mixed and produced in Pontch’s Harlem studio.

Hot Natured and Ali Love are set to release one of the most hotly anticipated singles of the year, ‘Benediction’ on 29th October through Hot Creations.

Hot Natured’s last single ‘Forward Motion’ was the seductive summer anthem of 2011. Since then the founding members of Hot Natured, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, have been joined by Ali Love and Luca C (from the duo Infinity Ink). The quartet has been locked away in writing sessions in Los Angeles, London and Ibiza, with an album planned for spring 2013.

‘Benediction’ is the first track to emerge from this album but its seeds were first sewn almost 10 year ago when Ali first thought of the main chords and concept. Today that idea has germinated into Hot Natured’s lead single. It features vocalist Ali Love’s trademark smooth and infectious tones, driven by melodic keys and that trademark deep, haunting bounce. ‘Benediction’ showcases Hot Natured’s collective song writing and top-of-their-game production skills to full, potent effect.

First heard on Jamie and Seth Troxler’s recent takeover for Pete Tong on Radio 1 and played at Hot Creations’ night Paradise at DC10 in Ibiza all summer, ‘Benediction’ is an irresistible and infectious crossover hit. It demonstrates exactly why Hot Natured and their Hot Creations label have become the go-to names for unrivalled disco-tinged, addictive house music with ‘quality’ stamped all over it. Also featured here are a blowout dub of ‘Benediction’ and a stupendous remix of ‘Forward Motion by MK… what a package!!

Paul Johnson began DJing in Chicago in 1985, and started working as a producer in 1990, doing tracks for Chicago house labels Dance Mania, Relief, Cajual, Nite Life, Undaground Therapy, Defected, DJax Up Beats, Peacefrog, and Moody. His tune "Get Get Down" became an international house hit, sustaining airplay for several years in clubs and was a top 5 hit in the UK Singles Chart. The song reached number-one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in December 1999, and remained on the survey for 18 weeks. Johnson started the Chicago house label Dust Traxx, and has worked with Robert Armani under the name Traxmen and with Gant Garrard as Brother 2 Brother. His 2004 track, "Follow This Beat", hit # 8 on the US Dance chart.

Gari Romalis is at the forefront on the techno scene in Detroit, working with labels such as Tresor, Soma Records, Terrence Parker's Intangible label, Mike Banks' Happy Soul Records, Reggie Dokes' Psychostasia label and Cliff Thomas' D-Bass Records.

Gari has been djing for over 30 years and has played at Detroit's most infamous underground club, the "Music Institute", along with traveling overseas spinning at Tresor in Germany.

Gari has worked for Transmat Records as well as managing Detroit's famous Buy Rite Records. Gari is single handedly responsible for training and influencing some of Detroit's most famous DJ's and producers. Gari heads also the Butch Strange Group, LLC, which houses several labels under his direction. He's back in 2012 with 'The Last Man Satnding EP'.

For the first release of 2021, label owner Bloody Mary is launching a new series which aims to blur the lines between EBM, dark wave and acid. The release comes after the huge success of her collaboration with Cardopusher on last year’s Conformity Kills EP, and straight off the back of the label’s 10 year anniversary compilation. Alongside Bloody Mary herself, this 4 tracker features a hand-picked selection of established and fresh artists whose tracks she has been supporting over the years.

Kicking things off on the A-Side is Bloody Mary’s track “Snatch”, followed by the renowned French artist Millimetric who’s welcomed to Dame-Music for the first time with his track “Body Alert” on A2. On the flip we see two more label debuts, this time from Russian artist Meshes on B1 with his track “Roleplay”, while Colombian artist Delectro rounds out the package on B2 with the heavy hitting and aptly named “Panic Rage”.

Parris Mitchell returns on Chiwax Classic Edition part 23. His former release on Dance Mania #66 from 1994 comes remastered to hit the dance floors again.

Decius are brothers Liam and Luke May, founders of Trashmouth Records, together with Quinn Whalley (Paranoid London/Warmduscher) and Fat White Family frontman Lias Saoudi. Those with an ear to the ground will have picked up on a string of self-released 12"s over the last few years, supported by the likes of Daniel Avery, Honey Dijon, Ivan Smagghe, Mike Servito, 2 Many DJs, Moxie and Erol Alkan. Decius Vol. I is a lean entry point to their sordid world - dark, uncut, unrefined and unrepentant.

Jay Lumen needs no introduction as he has been important to the tech and techno scene for years now. After several No.1 and Top10 releases on labels like Drumcode, Octopus, Relief, Suara, OFF etc. we are happy to have him back on Noir Music with this fantastic tech stomper "Our Freedom" that has a little bit of everything.The remixes comes from La Fleur and Traumer. Both are among our favorite producers at the moment and we are happy to write that both did an excellent remix job making sure we got fantastic alternative versions here.

For the 7th release Theory Of Swing welcomes the French duo Groove Boys Project to join the catalogue with their “The Manhattan Soul EP “. Lucas and Alexandre are two talented and devoted guys towards the 90’s house sound. In collaboration with some of their mates Rawaï and Dusty Fingers they created this pure NY house 4 tracker EP that respect at full the concept of the label. “Bring back that magic feel “ .
