Innerspace Halflife - Wind / Phazzled "10"

Americans Hakim Murphy and Ike Release are two Chicago house addicts who produce solo and as a duo under the name Innerspace Halflife. Here they turn up on one of Europe's finest deep house labels in MOS Deep with a two-track 10 vinyl release.Wind is the a-side the pair turn in a main room house banger with icy hi hats dangling above a forceful acid bassline that repeats over and over as thin pads sing about above and have you look to the future. It's wholly analogue as you'd expect, and as atmospheric as it is fierce.Ike Release goes solo on the flip with Phazzled, a much more laid back deep house jaunt with long legged, rubbery kicks and all sorts of busy sci-fi FX filling in the gaps. The harmonic chords add plenty of warmth and invite you to get lost in their midst classicist house with a future perspective.

Mick Welch - Octaves Of Energy

Altered Moods Recordings releases its next vinyl EP "Octaves of Energy". This three-tracker by Crawley, UK-based artist Mick Welch is a smooth, sultry adventure into the core ethos of AMR music. Mick is no stranger to the deep house sound. Starting in 2002, he has built a strong following of fans in the UK, first with his ElektroSouls mix site and shortly after that with his label of the same name. The "Octaves of Energy" release represents his latest foray into the deepness. "Conscious Field" kicks things off with a tambourine- and high-hat infused beat with rich, dark leads burbling up throughout, interrupted now and then by a wistful bridge with an echoing voice telling you not to be afraid. "Mind Force" is another laid back jam, with a bright, crisp cowbell intertwine with an accouterment of lush pads and silky leads. The final track on the flip side, "Octave 50," is the deepest cut of the three and also the easiest to work the dance floor with. With its sinewy, filtered pad and bubbly bass line combined with warm, warbling leads, it fits both in the studio and at the club.

Terrence Pearce - Last Night Lover Ep

FINA Records presents Terrence Pearce's 'Last Night Lover EP' featuring the return of Francis Inferno Orchestra on the rework.
Having previously released on a number of prominent labels including Futureboogie, Wolf Music, Petfood, Kolor, Dark Energy and Freshmeat, Cape Town based DJ/Producer Terrence Pearce has emerged as a talented and sought after artist and is the latest quality edition to FINA Records' roster. Here 'Last Night Lover EP' offers up a healthy dose of the forward thinking house productions for which Terrence has become renowned; a 3 tracker that demonstrates his impeccable sonic style and production prowess. The title track sets the tone from the off. The long and drawn out spacey synths transfix whilst the fading in and out of the subdued strings, offset against the low end warble and the foregrounded off beat percussion, give this classy understated cut a deliciously smooth and timeless quality.
'Come On Yah' meanwhile is a warm and effortless disco edged groove, characterized by its infectious low-end throb and clever concoction of playful rhythms, punchy hats, staccato strings and off kilter chords. Then, out of nowhere 'Taxi' arrives; a wonderfully leftfield amalgamation of horn beeping, door slamming, taxi hollering madness, aggressive techno stabs and a relentless belter of a bass line which drives the contagious rhythm to an unexpected frenetic funk filled break.Last up and hot off the back of his widely acclaimed debut album 'A New Way of Living', Melbourne's Francis Inferno Orchestra returns to FINA, this time on 'Taxi' remixing duties. After a masterful dose of his signature drum machine rhythms, early rave like samples and rainforest atmospherics FIO softens the original into near obscurity.

Toby Tobias Ft. Be Atwell - The Wonder/only Getting Better

Warehouse Find!

With Toby Tobias' debut LP for Delusions Of Grandeur dropping on the 16th October we wanted to give you a little taste of what to expect with a couple of tracks plus a brilliant remix from DOG regular Franc Spangler.

Kicking things off we have the twisted machine funk of The Wonder featuring vocals from Atwell. 808 beats bringing the vintage electro vibes whilst Atwell's vocal hints at the golden era of Chicago house, adding a soulful touch to the rigid groove. Next up is Only Getting Better, diving into deeper waters with bubbling pads and pulsing bass line. Finally, we have Franc Spangler getting busy on the remix, turning in a floor focused jam which brings the vocal to the fore and a big beefy bassline to bounce to.

Ultra Knites/tommy Largo & Trevor Vichas - Knite Grooves Vol 3

Last summer, Ultra Knites Records kicked off a series of "Knite Grooves" EP's. UKR006 sees label owners Sem Marini and Mike Sharon make a reappearance for summer 2015, this time under their "Ultra Knites" pseudonym for the third instalment of the Knite Grooves series. As has come to be expected from the pair- two tracks on the A side which ooze class and deepness, laced with melodic keyboard solos - elements that were once a staple in the Deep House genre but have since bceome scarce during recent years. Flipping over to the B side, the pair welcome fresh talent from across the water in the form of a collaboration between US producer Trevor Vichas and Netherlands based Tommy Largo. There's two mixes here of "Gonna Hold On" both of which capture the essence of real Underground House music and maintain the ethos of Ultra Knites Records.

Art Department - Natural Selection 2x12

Art Department, one of electronic music's most recognizable dance outfits announce the release of their eagerly awaited second studio album, 'Natural Selection', releasing through No.19 Music this November.

Jonny White, acting head of No.19 Music and Canadian techno legend, Kenny Glasgow make up the infamous duo known as Art Department, a collaborative project that has seen almost unparalleled success within the world of dance music in recent years. In 2010 the pair transcended genre barriers and paved the way for countless artists with their first single - 'Without You' which was awarded Resident Advisor's 'Track of the Year' and #1 track of the year at the 2011 Beatport awards paving their way to a level of success rarely achieved by underground artists.

Their critically acclaimed debut album, 'The Drawing Board' released on the prestigious Crosstown Rebels label; gave birth to a new sound that had drawn on the best cues from both artists. The LP was cited as an 'underground masterpiece' and credited with changing the musical landscape of the electronic underworld reaching #2 on iTunes and awarded 'Best Electronic Album' of 2011. In 2012 they reached yet another milestone when the duo were welcome guests on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and at the BBC's hallowed Maida Vale studios shortly before Vibe Magazine ranked them #2 DJ/Producers in the world, second only to Daft Punk, firmly establishing them as a rare thing in the world of electronic music.

'Natural Selection' sees Art Department expand upon their previous release, building a deeper and more mature and experimental sound that unravels through the duo's trademark murderous basslines, raw textures, expert production and distinctively melancholy vocals of Kenny Glasgow that have made them one of the most prolific writing/production teams in the industry .

Berlin based house producer, Aquarius Heaven and the infamous Seth Troxler, both partake with original vocal contributions in the form of "Kisses For Roses" and "Cruel Intentions" and blend effortlessly into Art Department's brooding, alternate reality.

'Natural Selection' represents the music, the story and Art Department's evolution from the projects inception until now, alongside Kenny and Johnny's personal journeys as individuals. Strewn with themes that centre on the cyclical idiosyncrasy of 'natural selection', Art Department explore a defined narrative throughout the LP; feelings of spiritual awakening and tranquillity, indecision and turmoil tell a story in which the beginning could in fact be the end. 'Natural Selection' is a diverse album in which Johnny and Kenny's inherently seamless production is in-fact a prerequisite to their existence.

Art Department's winter world tour celebrates the release of 'Natural Selection' and will see the duo take their immersive DJ performances to the world's most esteemed venues, festivals and No.19 Music label showcases around the globe from this month until early 2015. Art Department have been installed as residents at CircoLoco, at arguably the most revered club on earth - DC-10 (Ibiza) since 2010 and have performed at legendary venues and trendsetting festivals worldwide, including Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (UK), Warung (Brazil), Output (NY), Ultra Music Festival (Miami), Lollapalooza (Chicago), Tomorrowland (Belgium), BPM (Mexico), Burning Man (Black Rock), Coachella (California) to name just a few.

The Natural Selection Tour will include some of these legendary venues as well as Art Department favourites and a series of intimate listening parties hosted by Art Department themselves.

Phrases such as "long awaited" or "much anticipated" are often taken lightly but rarely are these words ever as true as in this instance, as hundreds of thousands of die-hard fans anticipate the release of an artist LP that follows a truly classic, debut album that was so undeniably important to a modern day music movement.

It's a French and Dutch invasion coming up next on Supplement Facts as Parisian Julien Chaptal and Amsterdam's Lauhaus deliver 'Jujuman' featuring a remix from French house royalty Franck Roger. 'Jujuman' is a midsummer night's dream of percussive grooves and hints of the wilderness. Franck's remix adds inflections of psychedelia and a dose of wiggly acid while B-side 'Watching You' is pure heads down hypnotic rolling.
Julien Chaptal moved to Amsterdam around 2000 to keep pursuing his career in music. Supplement Facts
06.11.2012

Guy Gerber welcomes the wonderfully talented Sonodab to his Supplement Facts imprint with his 'Nowhere EP' - four original tracks, taking you on a journey through deep, dubby house and techno.
First up 'Acid Rhythm' is carried by a strong groove, flowing along on a deep hypnotic wave with warbling synths subtly rising and falling back into the deep dubby atmosphere. Holding onto the fluid movement and fuzzy warmth, 'Ars Geotia' takes a techno turn with warm stabbing keys and prominent hi hats that carry the track through a solid, groovy pace until the end.Next up 'Freak' is tighter, driving and techy with an array of intricate percussions and a precisely formulated loop, boasting plenty of swing and groove while later, warm pads envelop the rippling synth structures. Rounding off the EP and creating a cohesive whole, 'Bon Voyage' delivers a smooth dose of techno, beautifully textured with eerie haunts followed by dark waves and minimal clicks and bleeps.
Originally born in Barcelona, Chus Duran aka Sonodab fell in love with the old vinyl surrounding him in childhood and founding an eclectic taste. Starting out around 1994 as a resident DJ in his hometow, by 2004 after honing skills in production Chus signed with Funkdango Music to release his first record and later joined Decoder Muzique. A highly talented producer to emerge on the electronic scene, Sonodab has already edited and remixed for some of the biggest names in the business. It's certain we will be hearing more of his name after this stellar EP on Supplement Facts

Various - Things Have Changed Ep

Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts imprint signals the end of 2012 with a Various Artist sampler entitled 'Things Have Changed EP'. Featuring a few household names alongside some future stars; Alexkid, Borrowed Identity & Mechanical Soul Brother, Gab Rhome and Andrew Grant & Lomez, all appear on this release filled with quality and diversity.
After critically acclaimed works on Rekids, Freerange & Desolat, Alexkid opens things up with a monstrous kick drum on 'Euclidean'. Layers of lush arpeggiated synths unfold around shuffling percussion culminating in a hypnotic climax that peaks with the release of a throbbing bassline.
Borrowed Identity & Mechanical Soul Brother get the party started on 'With You'' serving up a hazy sub bassline and skipping highs giving this one plenty of old school flavour. Spacey pads swirl and cascade in and around the mix paving the way for a breakdown of epic proportions to provide serious hands in the air moment.
On the flip Gab Rhome kicks things off with a samba inspired bassline before a cleverly arranged call and response snare and clave pattern are introduced to create the groove. Expert melodic layering is complimented by several carefully selected vocal snippets showcasing this producer's strong understanding of sonic textures.
Fresh off the back of a massive release on EDEC Music Outlet, Circoloco resident Andrew Grant & Lomez are left with closing duties and they do not disappoint. A big kick drum coupled with a funky offbeat bassline set the tone whilst airy pads pulsate in and out of the mix. Shimmering samples and brassy synth riffs build the tension until a groove laden high end is finally released much to the listeners delight.
