Dan Curtin's musical quest began in early 1990s Cleveland and continues today in Berlin, where the pioneering DJ and producer carries on defying conventions and pushing boundaries.
Curtin's discography dates back to 1992, with his first releases for Detroit's 33RPM Records and Belgium's Buzz Records. He soon inked his own production hub, Metamorphic Recordings. Curtin's unwillingness to restrict himself to a singular style has been instrumental to releases like his albums Silicon Dawn, Web Of Life and Art & Science on Peacefrog Records, and work for further influential imprints such as Strictly Rhythm and Sublime.

Now he's elaborating his impressive discography yet again with an uplifting yet pumping EP for Turquoise Blue Recordings. A label that was founded to release house music that's deep, groovy and underground.

DX Recordings presents 2 straight up house bangers from Scott Fraser in his Freeman guise and the first in a series of releases for 2015... On side A Dariana in its full extended form with bonus beats kicks out driving percussion and a massive piano break pounds the floor as the daylight streams in through the shutters. On side B, for deeper floors an original slice of 2000's house is re-mastered, brought back to life and released for 2015 with bonus beats included.

The Leftroom imprint marks a milestone 50 releases this October, offering up the 'Four Fingers' EP from Matt Tolfrey and jozif under their newly formed Kerb Staller guise.

Close friends Matt Tolfrey and jozif have been planning collaborative material for quite some time, but it was the recent move to a new shared studio space that led to plans becoming reality. Recent months have seen the duo working solidly in the studio on album material for the newly formed Kerb Staller alias (Definition: - Pedestrians who halt pointlessly at traffic-free road crossings, holding up everybody behind them), which the pair will play live across 2015. Here Leftroom marks it's 50th release, though Tolfrey tells us 'this is just another chapter in a long story', there's lots more in the pipeline for the imprint with material from Jay Haze & ESB, Dinamo Azari, DJ Bone, Chez Damier and Cottam lined up.

Kicking things off is the original mix of 'Safety Instructions', seeing the pair employ a classic amen break, a 303 bass hook and chuggy guitar licks as the driving force. While the latter stages see vocal murmurs build tension in the depths of the cut, as the envelope of the acid line is opened up to a squelchy, psychedelic feel in true acid house fashion. Ibadan's Jerome Sydenham steps up to rework 'Safety Instructions' next, providing a typically raw interpretation. Contrasting to the original cut Sydenham brings heavy distorted rhythms to the forefront here, as the nexpansive atmospherics and synth licks are subtly eased into the groove to create a slow-blooming reshape.

Opening the flip side of the release is 'Siren Song', taking things in a more album based, musical direction with a stuttering bass hook, clavia synth licks and original vocal lines helping create a charming and brilliantly unique composition from the duo. Thugfucker steps up to follow with his 'Lio's Wide Shut Rework' of 'Siren Song', the Life & Death artists treat us to their signature melodic and entrancing style, fusing warm analogue pads and wandering arpeggios into a hypnotic workout.

Slouch Music concentrates on dance music delivered below 120 bpm, giving space to the sounds and allowing the music to breath. Created and produced by an unknown london duo, the label encompasses everything from house and techno, to balearic and new wave - just as long as it's slow!

The Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra, Far Out's 20th anniversary disco project, released its double LP last year. It features the arrangements of Azymuth's late Maestro José Roberto Bertrami and the legendary Arthur Verocai alongside a host of other Brazilian musical icons. FOMDO10 is the latest in a series of vinyl only releases on Far Out. Previous producers providing their re-works to the series include Theo Parrish, Marcellus Pittman, Mark Pritchard, 4hero, Isoul8, LTJ Xperience and many more.
Striking that perfect balance between mood and groove that seems only possible out of Detroit, House pioneer and Slum Village DJ Andres' signature bounce lays the foundation for chopped-up harp samples beautifully eerie bells and the slick vocals of Mia Mendez. Having spliced all this into one spooky, hypnotic stepper of a track, the ghost of disco is clearly in Andres' machine and it's sure to compel even the most profane dance floors. It's another future classic in the vein of Andres' more ethereal house productions: the kind that saw Andres initially catapulted from Hip Hop hero to a true Deep House innovator.
On the B side, New York house veteran DJ Spinna adds a slightly more broken edge to the disco original, which, along with a beefcake bass-line, Bertrami's expressive Rhodes and Mendez' vocal, creates an emotive boogie bounce that patiently builds in expression and intensity with the help of some shimmering funk synth. No one puts the funk in house music quite like Spinna and this is a prime example. As producers, Andres and Spinna are humbling examples of what it takes to succeed within the framework of multiple fields. It's their dedication to house music, with a deep, intrinsic understanding of its Disco heritage that amounts to such consistently powerful productions.

Rene's return to Blank Slate, one year on, with two further excursions in grooving, minimal, dubwise house music, moody and haunted, a kind of widescreen steppers, Berlin style.
Right from the off, the Cywilizacja sequel is one step beyond, with hectic, scattered claps, and filter effects running into the distance. Again, melody and ambience are conjured from the moans and whispers of old films, but more pressingly than before. Half-submerged synths stick close to the hard-driving 808 beat. Midway, the elements become unglued, slipping out of synch, going off on their own... before the bizarre climax.
Lamia retains the disquiet but eases up a little on the theatrics. Bobbling bass and queasy pads pock the orchestral miasma, some singing whipped from a student Tarkovsky opens the way forward for the bones of a rhythm.

Here the producer balances vintage sounds and contemporary angles, keeping his crunchy grooves fresh and floor-filling. Considered French label D3 Elements continues is carefully curated run with a new EP from Berlin based Italians, Hinode. Featuring four cuts of tough deep house, this sixth EP is another high grade affair that follows on from great efforts by Strong Souls and Brian Harden.

Hinode are Matteo Chisari & Mario Resta, a pair of accomplished DJs and producers that release on and run their own Science Fiction Recordings as well as 0Helena0. They have been active since 2013 and their robust sound has found favour with real heads and underground DJs alike.
Opener 'State to State' is a raw, punchy house track with jazzy chords injecting some real soul into the physical beats. Rasping synths and rainy melodies have a hint of the old school about them and ensure that dance floors will be in raptures. 'Endless World' is more spacious, with a drunken acid sounding bassline roaming beneath a nicely mechanical groove. It's one to make you stomp, and so is b-side opener 'Shades of Grey' with its bombastic, kicking drums, twinkling melodies and lazy chords. Despite being a sweat inducing house banger, plenty of warmth and musicality remains. Lastly, 'Memory Alpha' hurries along with muddled voices, icy hi hats and a flurry of rubbery kicks and squelchy acid stabs. It's beautifully authentic house music that takes subtle cues from the best of Chicago and Detroit and puts a unique Hinode spin on things.

The ethos of M.I.L has always been to play the role of adventurer, to push forward the sounds that veer away from the main label Music is Love and M2222 pushes the envelope to the furthest boundary so far.
Kastil steps up for the 5th release on the vinyl only label with a divine techno ep. Etrek kicks off the proceedings with a kick drum solid enough to shake the bones of anyone in 100 meters of it. With its eerie analogue blips and noises the atmosphere this track emits is so intriguing you yearn for all its beautifully produced twists and turns. The main riff played against the surging drum section will make this track a timeless tool for techno & house djs alike.
Warning follows up with a warmer palette but still with plenty of drive and urgency, the delightfully playful lead wanders rounds your ears and conscious as the drum machines bang the groove, a perfect track to induce those euphoric moments in your dj sets.
Collapse is an all out weapon of mass destruction, with its un forgiving lead synth slowly but surely gaining more aggression and destruction as the drums build perfectly around the intensity, until it drops and your left immersed in this brute of a groove. It's the eb and flow of this track using tension and release that really bring this monster to life.
Dermax closes the ep and in fine style, once again flipping the techno stance of the ep into a deep druggy affair. The movement of the elements dancing around your head as you get lost in the dubby undertone of this track sit so perfectly in the sonic range, the depth and character of this track makes this a perfect track to end such a inventful and cleverly producer 4 tracker, this ep has every right to put WARNING on the label.

So, what awaits you on the second edition of a compilation that claims in a winking to present 'ambient race car music' Exactly what it says on the tin. A fresh and exclusive collection of music that hopefully sounds as great in a car as it will in the comfort zone of your own living-room or during dusk and dawn in your favorite club environment (see Bicep and Fort Romeau for further reference). But first and foremost it is truly inspired by many trips on the Autobahn between Frankfurt and Heidelberg. Going to and fro from one club to the other, was the way to spend countless hours of adolescence in excitement instead of tedious purposelessness. But I will not bother you with droll stories of my youth.

Musik for Autobahns 2 is the result of a collective effort by dear friends and esteemed colleagues who picked up where the first one ended, while paying attention to the prevailing theme. From Leon Vynehall and his profound research of the BAB 5 to Joy Orbison's 'A 213' or Lauer's heartfelt and wry Kraftwerk pastiche, all of the tracks have a certain compatibility in common or just sound great, while having a drive. 'Breaking' by AKSK for instance made the stop-and-go traffic in the blazing heat of Los Angeles so much more bearable (the vintage Volvo helped as well). Also, you will meet freshmen like Orson Wells, whose idea of traveling exceeds the boundaries of our planet, next to a grey eminence like Orlando Voorn (on the compact disc edition of this at least) or elusive characters like Disco Nihilist. All bringing their special skills and imagination to the table.
