Mark Grusane's latest offering, A House of My Own is a testament to his long-standing discipleship to the craft of producing hard-hitting house tracks with authenticity and depth. The title-bearing opener on A1 strongly demonstrates this notion with a slew of raw bass stabs and emotive pads leading through a battery of driven percussion in a manner that calls to mind those early 90's Mr. Fingers records. While A2's Essence of Life (Afterhours Mix) takes us further into the darkness with a spiraling timber of percussions lain over distorted vocal arrangements, the "Daytime Mix" of A3 builds on the momentum of its predecessor with a robust uplifting synth lead and sounds of atmospheric ambiance added to the mixture, effectively taking the composition to an entirely new level. B1 kicks off punching and swinging with the track Knock knock, Who's there?, a ferocious gut-puncher of a track that sees classic Chicago "beat-track" style 909 arrangements lay over an intense saturated 303 bassline that relentlessly worms its way throughout the mix with a booming urgency. B2 sees a turn for the naughty on the track Love And Lust with a xxx-rated vocal line slithering its way through the track, sandwiched in between high-pitched keys and a slinky drumline. Finally, Jack Your Ass Off closes out the album and ties it all together on B3 showcasing the full-fledged insanity of the classic trademark Chicago "jack" style that sees the title of the track frantically screamed over and over though a sampler amid hard hitting drums and 303s engineered to make you dance like a freak. A serious 'must have' for any selector or music enthusiast.

NDATL continues with the return of Abacus to the label, "The Lower End Theory" is another slab of deepness from the produced who has released on classic labels "Prescription" & "Guidance to name a few.

The EP dives right in with the title track "The Lower End Theory" bouncin with a deep bassline then iced over with glossy keys that give you sight into his theory. Next "Atlanta Deep" is his ode to a late night drive in the A. Then on the flip we have "Mortise & Tenon" a 10min journey thru Detroit Techno to Toronto's underground.

A perfect title as "Mortise & Tenon" is a type of woodworking joint! Now close your eyes & throw your head back into the Lower End Theory.

Being somewhat part of the Raw Soul Family from the very beginning, be it as part of our record collections or as guest DJ at our very first party, a record was just the natural thing do. It's not often that a breakthrough producer manages to cause major hype after just one release but when that artist is from the UK, putting out a brilliant EP on Moodymann's Mahogani Music, you start to realize how it happened in Dan Shake's case. Now it's time for Dan to build on this incredible start and from the way things are looking it's safe to say it's all going in the right direction. Another rising star from the UK is Wolf Music regular Medlar who has been making serious waves the last 5 years. Remixes for the likes of Glenn Astro and Disclosure have all helped put him in the spotlight and his debut LP Sleep from 2013 delivered in spades. So when the news that these two were joining forces for a collaborative project reached us here at D.O.G we wanted in on the action.

The lead track entitled Walk has all the hallmarks of a long-lost Detroit house classic but with a UK touch that adds just the right amount of polish to the dusty MPC beats and phasing rhodes chord. Soulphiction adds a slightly deeper edge on his remix but keeps the vocals in place and pushes the beats in an altogether housier direction. Finally we have I On You completing the EP in fine style with a more soul-tinged track but keeping the groove and bassline positively roughed up ensuring things stay raw and underground.

2014 was a big year for Scott Moncrieff AKA thatmanmonkz. Not only did his own label Shadeleaf become firmly established he dropped brilliantly received releases on both Kolour LTD and here on D.O.G.

Scott has managed to tread that fine line of simultaneously picking up props from all angles and wrecking dancefloors the world over whilst remaining resolutely underground and focused on the more interesting corners of dance music. RA rightly stated that 'Despite the pivotal part his hometown has played in electronic music history, you can't shake the feeling that if this were the work of some auteur from Detroit, Thatmanmonkz would receive wider recognition from the house community.' And that is why we love him!

Here on his follow up to last years Don't Slip EP, he delivers 3 lo-fi, dusty, soul- tinged nuggets which have that unique yet instantly identifiable character only the most talented producers are capable of making. Opener In The Trees featuring the vocals of Kahill Anthony who adds a soulful touch to the raw, bumping groove set up by monkz. The kind of magic track that'll get lodged in your mind and have the heads clamoring for the info when dropped on a big system. Flip over for Make It Now which treads a more familiar loopy disco path but does so in such fine style that you'll be coming back to this one time and time again. Finally we have Sad n Blue which drops the deepness with fizzing Detroit padz and killer vox samples giving a nod to the moody one but with a throbbing bassline straight out of the nu school. thatmanmonkz is currently holed up in his studio making tracks for his debut LP which we're happy to announce will be dropping towards the end of this year here on Delusions.

Nick Sinna has been on the radars lately with his debut release for Prime Numbers "PN 13".
Sticking to the dark corners of the dance floor as of late, we've commissioned the spaced out bass child, Conforce and Spectral's secret weapon, JTC ( aka Dabrye ) to add their touch with 2 remixes.
Conforce takes Sinna's "Real Time" further down the worm hole, adding molten pressure to the percussion, and cutting up & reinforcing the vocal samples.While the acid warrior himself, JTC stays true to his roots on his rework of "Voyager", taking the edge off the snap and slicking the groove down to a more deep, melodic trip.
PN13 has already received diverse support by the likes of Ben Klock, Marcel Dettman, DVS1 and Mr. Scruff.

Session Victim return to Jimpster's ' Delusions Of Grandeur' imprint with a third studio album. 'Listen To Your Heart' is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their Hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in San Francisco's Room G Studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 LP 'See you When You Get There'.
Sampling still remains an ever present backbone throughout the album. Session Victim have dug deep for sounds, resulting in a richly detailed and organic sound collage that goes hand-in-hand with their live instrumentation, this time enhanced through several guest musician appearances, most notably Carsten "Erobique" Meyer (ex-International Pony). Smooth guitar samples are built up on 'Over and Over' while on 'Moons & Flowers' the live instrumentals that Session Victim do so well come to the fore.

The treasure trove of San Francisco's record shops proved to be a hard bait to resist and the pair spent a large part of their Californian time hunting for records to sample. Three new tracks emerged from these digging sessions, with the sweeping disco string arrangements on 'Shadows' standing out as a prime ode to days spent combing through bargain bins.

Listen To Your Heart is equally a product of the road. While heavy touring is often cited as a hindrance to the creativity of artists, Session Victim see their live shows as a catalyst to their creativity. Two US tours in 2016 gave the Hamburg duo the opportunity to take track sketches and fragments on the road to incorporate into their live shows and then digest them back in the studio. The playful funk soaked groove of 'Matching Half' captures the sense of movement present throughout Listen To Your Heart and the LP mix of 'Up To Rise', which caused heavy ripples when it dropped as part of 2016's Matching Half EP is an extension of the upbeat and euphoric groove that permeates the album.
