After some big collaborative tunes with In Flagranti that made big waves a while back, vocalist Natalie Smash is back and in fine form. This new acid-tinged EP for Chicago's Still Music is killer, with San Francisco's very own Loose Control Band (aka DJ Spun and Jonah Sharp in tow. 'New Start' comes in three different but equally vital versions with edgy acid and old school house vibes to spare. The one and only Mystic Bill steps up to remix and as always does so with aplomb and plenty of energy.

* Originally released on Relief Records; the Chicago techno label headed up by Cajmere, these releases were Gemini's introduction into the worlds of house and techno, and contain some of his most vital works.

* As one of Chicago's most mysterious and revered characters, the story of Gemini, aka Spencer Kincy has become something of a myth in recent years - blazing a trail throughout the 90's, prolifically releasing over 200 tracks from 1994 to 1999, Spencer's music had shades innovation and soul few of his peers could match. Then, suddenly, at the peak of his career, he disappeared.

* As before, this album has been licensed directly from the man himself, and the money made from its exploitation will go directly to him.

Karakul welcomes Lea Lisa to the label for her new 12" 'Keys Of Life' featuring House legend Glenn Underground on remix duties.

Nice's Lea Lisa has been involved in the French and Swiss House music scenes since the early 90s and is a long time family member of Toulouse record shop InnerDisc. During the past decade she also added production to her musical talents and a string of releases on labels such as Wolf Music, Mona Musique and Inner Balance have followed.

Her latest track 'Keys Of Life' is a bumping yet soulful and uplifting piece, classic sounding yet with a contemporary feel.
Glenn Underground's mix takes the track to a more ethereal place, spacious pads swirl above a squelching bass line, while his dub version lets things breathe even more and twists the track's components into new shapes.

Fundamental sounds the underground label of Buenos Aires back to the game with a crucial ep from Chicagodeep, Victor Aguinaga (real name) The EP begins with BREAK FREE and will continue to offer new variations on the deep house formula with this new chicago jacking with catchless drums, majestically programmed making it essential for the dancefloor. "EROSION" continues the ep with a deep house masterpiece. Here you can appreciate the author's skills with ingenious piano melodies and climatic pads, an irresistible track for lovers of the genre. "last stand" opens the B-side with a slow, spaced mind-travel sticky squere basslines where one can plunge into the deep and hard return. "Straw Hat" ends the ep with a hypnotic track where we can well see the influence of Larry Heard, the track forces us to sink into sinister sound waves driven by catchy and dark but at the same time warm arpeggios. This ep is essential for any dj bag BANGER !!

The third wax on Nightflight Records holds tracks from Mystic Future (Yannick Robyns & Charlie Levan, Housewax, Subwax) and Hughes Giboulay (Soirée Records). Aubrey (Metroplex, Ostgut Ton, Ferox, Solid Groove Records…) took the honours to do a remix the only way he can do it.

Mystic Future’s “Physical Chemistry” is a spacey, breaky, housey tune taking you to higher atmospheres with the trippy, deep pads. Aubrey’s remix takes it to another level without losing touch with the original. This results in an abstract hi-tech funk dancefloor track. Hughes Giboulay’s “Soirée ( a night in Marseille)” kicks of with a jacking 4/4 beat, wobbling baseline and melodic, funky stabs that makes you wanna dance. The fourth track “Distant Memory” by Mystic Future is a dreamy, techy and spacey house track with a rolling bassline and perfect for warming-up and after hours sets.

For the second AOTN 12" this month we got another smasher,when we landed the united Spirtual Singers over lockdown we were lucky enough to get multitracks so East Coast Love Affair and love time friend of the label Tom Noble got to work

Side A - We decided to go full on front room Sylvester vibes on this, what initially seemed to be an easy job turned into months of work, session musicians when we were allowed and arguments over vocal timings, but nothing good is easy won and we are proud of this. On the flip our good friend Tom Noble calmed the situation down a bit with a tasty New York version of the track, and big up to him for doing this while fighting through his shop flooding and a new opening of his superiorelevation shop in Brooklyn.

Kerri Chandler Remix!

American house music legend Kerri Chandler has reimagined Gabriels’ debut single, Love and Hate in a Different Time. It’s the first reinterpretation of the LA band’s standout hit, and an unsurprisingly soulful take by the New Jersey deep house pioneer.

Kerri says "The moment I heard and saw the video for the Gabriels it gave me chills, Jacob’s voice and the production immediately stood out to me. I wanted to know who was behind this beautiful song. The more I spoke with Ryan, Ari and Jacob, the more we became family, it felt like I have known them for years. When they told me they wanted to go back in the studio to go and re-record vocals, just for my rework I was overjoyed that we were all working together to give this new mix its own signature sound and personality. Gabriels are incredibly talented and I’m very happy to have met such an inspirational band."

Comprising four classic Kerri mixes across one 12 Inch, the A side hits with a trademark Vocal mix from the master, as he adds a soulful house swing and uplifting Kerri-keys that enhances the gospel spirit of the original and aims it squarely at the club. Following this, Jacob’s incredible vocal performance sits centre stage with an exquisite Acapella version.

On the flip, Kerri offers up a deep, late night ‘623 Again’ mix, blending all manner of elements from his illustrious back catalogue and an eyes closed, sun soaked ‘Feel’ mix to round off the EP.

It's coming home, it's coming home - house music is coming home! A second instalment of the Groove Access: series Chicago Is Home offers us five fresh tracks from the windy city landing in a glorious cavalcade of razor edged snares and hypnotic jack house. Ed Nine & Kid Enigma's 'Bandleaders' opens side one in spectacular fashion with spoken mantras lying deep in the mix, distinctive phasing arpeggios, poking keyboard riffs and ringing cymbals. JSquare's 'Get Wicked' kicks with even more power, tribal rhythms bouncing of bleepy melodies, before 'Move' by Geto Mark rounds off the side with the strutting, beautifully brutal 'Move', a proper 3AM peak time pleaser. Steve Noah's 'The Hater' opens side two, a wily acid line worming its way across a raw, stripped down backing before exploding into serious gnarliness when you least expect it. AFTR's 'Undercover' rounds things off with another knuckle duster of a tune, leaving no doubt that Chicago is still the place to be when it comes to house.

Monumental House anthem alert! Another classic jammer from 1992 lifted straight from the Strictly vaults. This one's HUGE. Phuture aka acid House pioneers Spanky and DJ Pierre (with a little help from Roy Davis JR) turn in a driving, acidic monster in true Wild Pitch style. Probably the only record that begins with a sinister voice saying 'This is cocaine speaking' before diving head-long into one of the best anti-drug House records ever. Absolutely brilliant. Bubbling 303 basslines and cavernous handclaps combine with a funked out, dubbed out synth line that just doesn't stop. Phuture will survive, and they weren't lying when they said that as this record (among too many others they had a hand in) still rock today. Yep, still fresh. Tried and tested, often imitated, never bettered. Phuture are the originals. Open up your eyes (and ears). This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all 4 mixes as per the original release way back when. Essential stuff here. You simply NEED this one.

Reflective Records, the label with the holograms, started in 1993 by Jonah Sharp aka Spacetime Continuum reopens its catalog with the “Every Moment” 12” EP, the debut release by Cahl Sel . This homegrown San Francisco artist has been playing live in California with a minimal hardware rig for the past few years and these four tracks reflect his beat-driven but melody-led sound.
This release features the last of the original hologram die-cut center stock from the 1990s.

Three sumptuous offerings of quality grooves from the Aesthetic series, as Paris club scene fave Djebali and Argentinian DJ and producer Jorge Savorett join forces once again. This choice trio definitely veers on the side of the under rather than over stated, preferring to rely on warm rhythmic flourishes and enticing, inviting instrumentation rather than thumping firepower or gimmickry. The beats are tight and hypnotic, with perhaps just the slightest hint of a nod to the shuffling drum machine funk of early Derrick May productions like 'Nude Photo' here and the more head nodding repetition of Chicago jack house there. Aesthetically pleasing for sure.

Digging deep into the Chicago Rave vaults to re-issue the debut EP from Billy Nightmare aka 'Mystic Bill' Torres. Growing up in Miami, Bill was involved in various parts of the music industry, from working at Flamingo Record Pool, to playing guitar for the band Life In Sodom (80's Synth/Goth band). His interest in both House & Industrial music inspired him to make his move to the Windy City. Bill quickly became involved in the night scene with residencies at clubs like Shelter, Crobar, & Smart Bar. His studio work began with a remix of Kay Ladrae's 'Lack Of Love' with Vince Lawrence, followed by a string of releases, including an LP on Trax Records. He has recently relaunched two record labels and several releases and remixes out each year.

'Reality Check' was released in 1996 on Woody McBride's label Sounds. Originally the project was to be titled " Billy's Nightmare", but to avoid being jinxed for life, Torres decided to switch it to Billy Nightmare. He put the Mystic Bill alias aside, got a hair cut, changed his sound and became this new persona. 'Reality Check' consists of 4 tracks, recorded at Mirage Studios in Chicago in 1996. Two tracks on the A-side are dark thumpers and will haunt your head for days. Side B has 2 versions of the same song, lighter and funkier in mood both show the diversity Mystic Bill is capable of producing.

All songs have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. Each EP is housed in a custom designed jacket by Eloise Leigh featuring a 90s photo of Billy Nightmare staring into TV static and includes a postcard with notes.
