Berlin based techno label Symbiostic welcomes MRDIE (Mothr, Minus) and Click Box (Timbral, Silencio, Minus, Items & Things) on their fifth vinyl.

When we recieved these tracks by Diego aka MRDIE from Rosario, Argentina in late 2016 we knew this is something special. We immediately felt in love with the melancholic approach and new wave-like feeling they transport. With an additional and proper fitting remix by Click Box from São Paulo, Brazil and yet another amazing mastering by our man Orlando from Hamburg we are more than happy to bring the Silverline EP as Symbiostic release number 30 into your hands.

37 kicks off with Tó, circular, the percussion resonating in a room, the stabs leading, and the bass pumping. 12 is next, all harmony, promising pastoral harmony, synth clock and mouth moisture clicks. Paradela bursts in on the flip side, monumental, synthetic symphony, acidic and bright. Jordão is last, rhythmic stutter; the rhythm cuts through, accompanied by a monotone pulse, some lost keys make their way into the mix, it tries to stabilize so it can calmly take you by the hand and lead you home, into the river.

OPIA’s sister label Euphoric State reports back to duty with ‘Evolutionary Perspective’ from veteran producers, Relative Progress. The four tracker consists of two remastered cuts from their sought after ‘Illustrated Primer’ EP back in ‘96 and on the flip two recent productions made this year.

Quite notably some of their finest work ‘Getting There’ opens the EP with its signature bleeps, and progressive structure. An urgent and driven track of the past, that without maybe realising you will be familiar with. ‘Heart ‘N’ Soul’ releases the energy tension, a more mellow cut with rippling pads and dreamy attention to detail.

Kicking off the modern productions is the Detroit-esque ‘Be Real’, a slick and deep alternative to the A side, smooth hi-hats melt into the bouncy organ arrangement. Rounding off the EP is a hazy late night jazz vibe entitled ‘U Got Me Into This’, winding down proceedings in style, as you would imagine from the long term producers.

Another well rounded EP on Euphoric state, dedicated to melding futuristic sounds of the past and present.

Following his triumphant return to Kompakt with SICKO (KOMPAKT 322), REX THE DOG digs deeper into the circuits of his custom-built modular synth on YOU ARE A BLADE, delivering a powerful trio of sharply contoured jams ready to cut to the chase. A true master of expressive might within a limited set of sounds, the much-acclaimed producer introduces the title track with breezy, shimmering arpeggios that are soon joined by a weighty, throbbing bassdrum - a lean and mean stealth banger that stands as unwavering as it is playful. The flipside builds an impressive amount of momentum as muscular acid-fest MUSIK HYPNOTISES stakes out raw and pounding synth stabs with its titular refrain, giving those straight-shooting riffs a properly wonked-out feel. Meanwhile, dry-witted closer WASP FACTORY pairs raspy synths with kinetic drum rolls and boldly cut-up vocal samples, another deceptively simple arrangement trimmed to perfection and for maximum effect.

Second Seta Label vinyl presents label friend Dj M4SH and his new EP "The Message". It takes you to the world of delayed and filtered chords, pads and arpeggiators with rolling basslines. This solid four-track package contains three deep house jams plus a spacey remix of the track "Not Known" from the well-known Slovak gang Sensoreal. "The Message" expresses Dj M4SH’s memories of rave-kids generation from the 90s and everybody who spent those years at the parties or in the park with cassette player listening to music. "The Message" is dedicated to those who remained loyal to what they love. It's a reminiscence and acknowledgement to all who were there and are here now.

We are very happy to unveil the first vinyl EP from Dragusanu for our 3rd episode. Alin Dragusanu is a young Romanian talent who brings creativity to traditional romanian sounds. The remix is ​​a groovy bomb produced by Silat Beksi, brilliant artist we no longer present. Limited copies!

For the third release of the young parisian label they decided to bring back artists that they love and that already built the beginning of the label, Funkastle whose Boulevard Etoiles was on NFR01 and Kizoku who joined Bassam for a real banger featuring on NFR02 . This split EP combines the two different styles of these artists and creates a complete vinyl where the 4 tracks are a different trip.

The next drop on Constant Sound sees Josh Baker and Alfie Jack team up following their excellent joint outing on Aesthetic earlier this year. New year, new Skrufix release and this one is on vinyl once again! Following a return to form with stellar releases last year from Things With Wings with some Nigerian inspired beats, our 2-Step King, The Crane and an extremely well received release from new boy, Skwirl, we continue with quality production levels and one hell of a release from Nathan Jonson.

After a successful decade of releasing music under the Hrdvsion alias (Wagon Repair / Sound Pellegrino / Planet Mu), 2015 saw Nathan reach a turning point in his musical career and re-launch with a new direction under his birth name. The Jonson family are clearly one of good musical stock, his brother is the formidable Matthew Jonson and Nathan has recently released on 20:20 Vision as well as his brother's new Freedom Engine label, among others. We are therefore more than a little bit chuffed to get him on-board for this new EP, 'Space Between Breath'.

The release kicks off with the title track 'Space Between Breath', an ideal opener that builds into a lush, intricate Techno track accompanied by bouncy synth sounds. Label regular, The Crane brings his usual 2-Step talent to rework the first track exceptionally. On the flipside, things kick off with a darker feel and acid sounding synth lines on 'The Transfer', followed by a fine finale in the trippy and chugging sound of 'I'm All We Got.'

It's quite the release all round to be honest! And we're very excited to finally get this one out there. Look out for more excellence to come later in the year as label regulars, Turtlez and Skwirl prep new EPs, alongside some surprising new additions along the way!

It's always exciting to introduce new names to the Spring Theory roster and Pedro Vian, its latest addition, makes no exception to the rule. It's also the 10th release on Spring Theory, so more reasons to rejoice! The Barcelona-based producer came to (my) attention with his releases Dancing Hindus and Titled Beautiful Things You Left Us For Memories on his own label Modern Obscure Music. This EP picks up some of the themes from those records and further explores of his style of elegiac synth lines and primitive drum machines. The sound of dancing alone with your eyes closed, late at night. Haunting house for the heartbroken.

Rising talent Rossi. returns to new FUSE imprint LOCUS as he delivers his full EP on the label, ‘Checkpoint.’.

One of the UK’s most hotly-tipped rising names within house and minimal, bubbling London-based DJ and producer Rossi. continues to grow and impress as an artist to watch with releases via the likes of Eastenderz, Tamango and META, and sets across leading institutions such as fabric, Warehouse Project, After Caposile and Watergate. Having originally made his debut on the label in August to remix Politics Of Dancing’s stand-out ‘Machines’, late-November now welcomes the release of his ‘Checkpoint.’ EP on LOCUS as he serves up four fresh productions from across the house sphere fuelled by his trademark, slinking sound.

Lead cut ‘In Village’ introduces a familiar soundscape for those accustomed with the UK talent’s catalogue as he goes to work combining skipping hats and bubbling bass pattern alongside breaks-infused drum arrangements and infectious sample interjections to deliver an up-front opener, whilst ‘For A Change’ introduces hazy chords and driving low-ends to the mix in impressive fashion. The B-side welcomes the arrival of ‘Orange Sky’, a classy effort led by organic percussion grooves, off-kilter samples and tripped out vocals, before closing via the snaking grooves and sci-fi electronics of the energetic ‘Pazzo’.

Tuff Sherm (also known for his work as Dro Carey) has become an extremely prolific and well acclaimed producer over the years with releases on The Trilogy Tapes, Berceuse Heroique and Opal Tapes. A long time in the works, this versatile release increases in intensity from relaxed lounge piano and slap bass grooves on the A side to full out melodic tribal techno on the B.

The WDV (Wave Digital Voice) concept is a collection of releases inspired by the UK's fractal terrain and computer generated art subculture which fronted led the AI scene in the early 90s. The project takes on a heady reflection of WDVs interpretation of fractal generation styles and the mind bending impact they delivered for the 'visual' dancer... WDVs ethos for the project merges a fascination with fractal comparable wavetable design and synthesis - in particular Waldorf's impact in the era with the Wave - the future of wavetable synthesis delivered at the highest level.

Yak’s ‘Mido / Darunia’ 12” on Version caught the ears of everyone here at Phonica so we’re delighted to welcome him to the family and release his new four track ‘Gerudo EP’ on our main label.

Sheffield-based Yak (John Randall) is a classically trained instrumentalist whose releases for the likes of R&S, 3024 and Black Beacon have all received support from DJs such as Ben UFO, Midland, Joy Orbison, Objekt, Call Super, Or:la and Lauren Halo amongst many others.

This new 12” is a great example of how percussion can be the vital core to direct movement on a dancefloor. The record opens with ‘Zip’, a nod to the housier tracks that introduced Yak to electronic music. Fine keyboard details add a shades of Techno to a track built on its organic drum break and undulating bassline. ‘Guevenne Groove’ keeps percussion as its main element, utilising a powerful kick as primary operator and adding colourfully breezy keyboards, which Randall says are inspired by roleplaying video game soundtracks.

On the flip ‘Fret’, one of the EP’s most club-focused tracks. Spacey warped synths construct the melodies while an initially off-kilter drum-groove glues the track’s elements together before resulting in the record’s peak dancefloor moment. Finally the EP comes to an end with title track ‘Gerudo’, floating a wash of synth textures and airy pads over another of Yak’s signature percussive drum tracks. A euphoric end to the journey.

The 803 Crystal Grooves Collective cuts label was launched in 2019 by Cinthie as a platform for material from her collective of friends and producers she admires.
The project was launched with a four-track VA featuring S3A, 9th House, KETTAMA and Asquith and here we see two new additions to the roster in the shape of France
Anaxander and Azuni aka Washerman.

Matthew Dear's Audion project stands proudly at the intersection between art and hedonism, realised over a decade long dedication to powerful and relevant dance music. Growing out of the vibrant DIY Detroit underground, Audion and his contemporaries were free to feed off the energy reverberating from UK and European dancefloors, but singular in their desire to create their own sound and spirit. An Audion release is techno in it's purest sense - whether it's pushing the bombastic limits, spinning the dancefloor out of control or elegantly toying with just a few sonic elements. 'Alpha' is Audion's first artist album in 10 years and comes at the end of a period of fevered activity. The collective body of work standing as a marker in time and a defining moment in the life of the artist. Drowning out the noise of the outside world, 'Alpha' was a puzzle pieced together sonically in the shadows and wildly brought to life in a matter of weeks. The artwork for 'Alpha' has again been realised by Will Calcutt, Dear's long time collaborator, who has a visual plan for the music that matches the sonic vision, completing the final critical piece of the puzzle. Taken from the album, Gut Man Cometh and Destroyer get the remix treatment from UK producers Matthew Herbert and FOLD

It sounds ridiculous to state that this is Efdemin's best release so far on Curle, when you realise that's the artist that brought us classics like Acid Bells and America... But the whole EP truly is amazing from start to finish. All tracks feature Efdemin's brand new second mix-album called 'Naïf'.

That Dope Loop Pinning down Sascha Dive as Cocoons deephouse wunderkind wouldn't really hit the nail on the head however it isn't far from truth. Compared to most other artists of this genre he can for sure be classified as a young gun but there is no soundproof for his age in his music at all. Sascha Dive's music is loaded with a respectful amount of taste and house history you would normally find in the productions and DJ-sets of artists who started in the early 90s. And this is not unwanted: Dive admires and follows the big names of house and deep house and his musical efforts to pay respect to them brought him on par with his legends! So it's no wonder that Sascha Dive productions found their way to top notch labels like Tsuba, Freebase, Deep Labs (Balance US) or Raum...Musik. Not to forget his release for Ornaments and the Moodyman remix for 'Deepest America". Having in mind where Dive started with his first album 'Restless Nights' and what he achieved until he received remix-honours from Mister Kenny Dixon Jr. one could think Sascha Dive scored all goals he wanted to score. However the journey didn't stop here: Being a Cocoon artist and having played for some of the major Cocoon nights in Ibiza and around the globe Dive incorporated a decent amount of electronic soul and after-hour-madness to his music over the last years. He even admits that his current productions and DJ-sets are definitely influenced by current techno- and techno-house artists and this special feeling this music adds to a party. And this progression is clearly audible in his new and upcoming album 'Dark Shadow' which is a great example of the sound of Sascha Dive in the year 2013.

Patrice Meiner returns on Druzhba with two groovy tracks that will keep you on the dancefloor long past bedtime. The spiritual original versions are accompanied by killer reworks from Justin Pak & the one and only - Javier Carballo. Boom!

Having discovered electronic music at the end of the 90’s, Thomass grew up going to raves where trance was one of the main styles played at this massive partys. The influence it had on him was planted deeply into his DNA and this EP is the interpretation he has these days of the genre. He moved on to different pastures soon after but the style was already in him. Thomass now takes the old fashioned elements he still likes and takes them to new directions. Fueled by gated chords, dreamy arpeggios, trippy vocals and percussions this tracks are destined to take you back into the past and bring you right back to the present. Forget what you learned. Trance not trance.

Barcelona based Skip Audio Records is a new vinyl-only label. Their debut release is a V.A. with tracks from well-known artists Giuliano Lomonte, Fabrizio Maurizi, Vincent Casanova and Viceversa.

London label Tessellate drops a VA release which includes four club-ready cuts from Firmin, Karaba, Aiden Francis and Les Ondes.

'Teamwork' is the first in Tessellate's series of VAs which will aim to have a musical thread running through each release with this inaugural one focusing on the proggy side of breaky electro. This release comes off the back of four Tessellate outings in 2020 from T. Jacques, Kylin Tyce, Armless Kid and label bosses The Trip, which picked up support from the likes of Peach, Barely Legal, Cinthie and many more.

Firmin is a Berlin-based artist with two EPs out on Tessellate and kicks off the pack with 'But On Second Thoughts, Perhaps I Will' which lays focus on skippy rhythms, sunshine soaked pads and pulsing bass rolls before French producer Karaba who has previously released on T. Jacques' Nuances de Nuit label follows with 'Vice Versa' offering up syncopated breaks- tinged percussion, otherworldly cosmic melodies and elastic acid squelches holding your focus throughout.

On the flip, Manchester's Aiden Francis delivers the vibrant house track 'Cloud Generator' featuring skippy, energetic drums, resolute fx which develops wonderfully above the uplifting, spiralling synths while Paris-based producer Les Ondes rounds off the EP with 'Phase One' as the celestial atmospheres come to full force on this spiralling electro cut.

Cult label Groovepressure returns with its 17th release. A 4-track EP that is one of its best yet. A collaboration between label boss (and Memory Box head honcho) Robin Ball and regular Groovepressure cohorts A². Taking turns to remix each other’s tracks delivering a 4/4 and breakbeat track and remix each. This EP has all the Groovepressure trademarks. Mixing up techno, house, breakbeat and electro with a deep underground vibe. Music for your head and your feet.

First up A² “Delaycious” is an unreleased track from the vaults. A real gem made in the 90’s and thought lost until re-discovered recently on a dusty DAT. And on the flip side Robin’s stripped back teched up “Oh Yea”.

Clip! steps up to the plate as FINA White continues to set out its stall as a go-to label for top quality techno.

Second up on FINA White is a four tracker from rising Barcelona producer, Clip! Since being cherry picked by RBMA back in 2011 Clip! has quickly established a name for himself in and amongst the city's growing pool of electronic artists and further beyond. Diverse releases on on Discomaths, Classicworks, Sweat Taste and JD Records, coupled with his signature 'hardware only' live shows, showcase his sound shifting style and impressive knowledge of sound design - unsurprising perhaps given his classical and jazz music roots.

Clip! is a chameleon of sorts and for FINA White, he puts on his thick skin and offers up a package of pure and unadulterated peak time cuts.

The title track is an absolute sonic stonker. Its menacing bass line, low end throb and sharp edged hats roll and slice with a galvanized intent whist the old Chicago house sample and gradual layering of pumped up beats and sustained synths give it an unmistakable groove with attitude.

Meanwhile, long drawn out synth tones, distorted vocals and broken beats make up the stirring intro of 'R36'. The calm is short lived of course as the steady beat gives way into the track's defining hard-hitting bassline; one that is enveloped and then let loose again by a carefully crafted fusion of atmospheric sounds.

On the flip side, 'Forward' is, well... forward; a no messing, relentlessly percussive banger. And wrapping up the EP is 'Dissonance's Technique' an equally straight-up, rough n ready belter which once again showcases Clip!'s skills in the studio. Watch his space.

R&S welcome electronic composer Matthew Puffett AKA Future Beat Alliance with his killer single ’Never Forever’ a sublime slice of broken beat techno that originally had a limited release on his “Patience and Distance” album in 2009. It now comes backed with a first rate remix courtesy of R&S regular Afriqua.

A veteran of the UK electronic scene originally from Oxford but now located in Berlin, Puffett made his name in the late 90s with a string of sought after releases on Void Records under the aliases Mode-M and Soul Electrik before settling on the Future Beat Alliance handle. Life long friend from Oxford, Mo’ Wax and Unkle maestro James Lavelle reached out in 2012, which led to a further creative chapter in Puffett`s story that culminated with him co-writing & programming on Unkle’s 5th studio album ’The Road Part 1’ as well as some singular work in film and television. “The moving image plays a key creative motive in my process,” Matthew explains. “Sound & picture married together is such a powerful combination that always inspires me every time to make my own version, 'Never Forever' is one of my many attempts to try and
capture that.”

After a brief period of studio lock-down at the start of 2019, Brame & Hamo are back and present their fifth EP ‘Pressure’ on their eponymous imprint, due out on the 24th of June.
Having recently appeared in the Mixmag Lab, and put out a highly-curated mix via Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel Radio late last year, the duo from Sligo have an ever-increasing tour schedule, which is taking their vibrant brand of music to dancefloors worldwide. They recently completed a sell out four-show tour in Australia, and have trips to the USA, Canada and Asia booked for later in 2019.
This EP is a contagiously energetic three tracker. Starting off with ‘Pressure’, an infectious drum pattern morphs into a driving and spacey dance floor weapon. ‘Transit’ is an intricate commute of driving synths, whilst ‘Dial Up’ is the guy’s take on breakbeat rave, taking inspiration from Josh Wink and Chemical Brothers.
“The start of 2019 has been a few months locked away in the studio juggling demos for various labels and making sure everything is just the way we wanted it. We have been putting ourselves under a lot of (self-inflicted) pressure to continue to deliver music of the standard of previous releases, and finally we got there. Each of the tunes took only a few hours and were all done in one take, using all the hardware in our studio during some intense jam sessions’.

Ruff Stuff inaugurates his new Sculptures imprint this February with ‘The Faster Buster’ EP, comprising four originals from the Berlin-based artist.

Sculptures Records is the new label from Ruff Stuff, a new platform designed to showcase material from predominantly up and coming artists who use physical machines to craft and sculpt their music, using their hands and real tools to create unique pieces of art. This stands as the ethos for Sculptures and its output moving
forward, which will aesthetically lean towards house and deep house sounds with forays into electro.

The label-head Ruff Stuff steps up first to inaugurate things here and leads the release with ‘Give Me A Break’, employing organic drums and dubbed out stabs at its core before the latter half of the composition introduces a rave-tinged disorienting synth
hook. Title-cut ‘Faster Buster’ follows next, this time round employing swirling pads, bumpy drums and gritty stab sequences as it’s core alongside hypnotic vocal chants and squelching 303 bass notes.

‘Bunker Mood’ opens the flip side, fuelled by dusty drums and a snaking bass groove while an amalgamation of airy chords, tension building strings and vocal samples carry the groove. ‘Rules Breaker’ then closes the package with a contrasting feel, bringing a
choppy square wave bass line and resonant synth licks to the forefront alongside off-kilter, skippy drums and ethereal pads ebbing and flowing within.

The Daydream family is growing up, following a solid fourth various, this fifth release welcomes a new talented quartet from all over Europe: Casey Spillman, Worker Union, Noah Skelton and Stevn.aint.leavn.The recipe is unchanged: spacey pads, galactic synths, warm rhythm and strong beats for a dreamy trip across house music. Title track "Bay Be Blu" tickles the endorphin receptors with its euphoric melodies and 'Stranger Things' atmospheres. The second track leans on soothing warm synths gliding over a dub bass with tight drums. In addition, attentive listeners will hear Nachtbraker's personal field recordings on the beaches of Barceloneta. When the record is flipped one finds herself in "Tangelo Dreams", a mid 90's, Pacific Records inspired jam with a driving baseline. Rounding off the record is "Drip", a track drenched in unconventionalism and oddities.

The debut album "Night Train EP" is a journey

In first track "D. Effect" the simple drum track and thick bassline blends with a distant pulsating gong that sets the tone for a dreamy athmosphere in some empty fields.

The rolling beat of "Turn Around" gets the party going. A playful mix of synth chords keeps you into the vibe.

Syncopated rhythmic accents are dropping into the loop.
The echoed synths bring a mistery touch oposed to the heavy drum kick that keeps on pumping into an funky loop.

"Entering in Station", B1 track, is based on a simple dub theme. The punchy drum kick and deep baseline meet the main chords theme, here and there a sudden, weird and transcending "intemezzo" pops up and sends us to the other side of the scene, like driving through a misty fog.

The beat comes back on and chords keep flowing into an endless loop.

The last track "Sinking Sun" brings in a playful mood, send the listener to a magical scenery,

The "dancehall" echo is omnipresent, brings colour to the scene, all is paired with the timeless feel of the groove.

Groovepressure is excited to be re-releasing two tracks from the first ever Groovepressure release. Resonators is Groovepressure honcho Robin Ball and long time school friend Salman Montiero. Made in 1999 in a very small studio in Robin's house, Robin remembers "getting them pressed and taking them to the shops I loved in London to see if they would sell them and getting a really good reaction from the shop staff. Not that it was going to be a big commercial success or anything like that, more because the tracks had a unique sound and I think still do today." The underground scene then was a lot more freestyle but even in that atmosphere it was an unusual release. Since then it's been one of the most sort after releases from the Groovepressure back catalogue. It's an exciting time to be re-releasing this with the re-emergence of the label. Booma and Shuzzbuzz have been re-mastered and remixed by Robin Ball.

Len Lewis is back on Physical Education for the label's fourth release, delivering some unreleased material from the early 2000s.

The EP brings three strong tracks from the tech house master himself, pressed in limited numbers, don't sleep on it!

Jonathan Kaspar has been making left of center dance music for some years, releasing on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Objektivity, Pets Recordings or Kompakt's KX. Here, the Cologne-based DJ and producer provides three tracks that serve as a reminder that dance music doesn't have to be one dimensional. Opener 'Mera' starts out along a shuffling, groove-heavy path before various sound elements creep in, culminating with a hummed vocal full of mystery and magic. The track appears here in two versions, with the 'Strip Down' getting deeper into the drums for a full rhythm-frenzy workout. Both tracks are perfect sunrise music, as is 'Weiss'. Although ostensibly having more of a straight up dancefloor approach, the track's low slung groove slowly reveals itself over its nine minutes into a spaced out cosmic journey.

Cold water, bad weather and a car packed with machines. Best conditions to make a record. After two weeks, the reflections are three tracks, in three different ways but with many connections. The EP starts with Glowe' and technoid breakbeats, which are being controlled by heavy chords. Wiek' stays with the pattern of breaks but gets more emotional through various pads, which appear and suddenly disappear. On the B-Side Spycker' finds his path, with the help of several percussive elements.

Thema 46 was hatched from someone so deeply ingrained in the underground that he barely needs an introduction. From his RA "label of the month" featured imprint Plan B Recordings, to his thoroughly played productions on labels such as Rekids, Killekill and The Trilogy Tapes, DJ Spider has been a mainstay on the murkiest, most disorderly dance floors for years. His sound is characterized by disjointed elements lurching around in a off-kilter yet magnetic way that forces you to move in ways you didn't know you could. From the hell scorched, pitch bent echoes of "The Final Revolution" to the lo-fi groove antics of "Distress Signal", DJ Spider proves once again that no one can do it as perfectly weird as he can.

Qalomota records is back with a release from the 2 foundators of Qalo-Mota. As usual QM is large and offer you different type of House. For This Cocktail EP you could dance on 'Hard to get' this track really influenced by NYC club scene. The old timer will pleased with 'Too far gone' reminisence of several tracks from Dj Pierre or Eric Kupper and as said Adonis 'Too far gone and no way back!'.
