Charles Trees. Myth, tall tale, legend of a human being, one of those people who one minute you'll be scouring reddit for obscure content and the next, stepping on stage to casually DJ to thousands of people like “no big whoop” at a French music festival. Charles is unassuming, the kind of person who effortlessly mixes ghettotech into soul for lulz, who samples a speech (/rant) by Funkmaster Flex in an acid track, or rides BMG & Derek Plaslaiko’s “True Story of a Detroit Groove” with Velvet Underground’s “Sister Ray” for 8 minutes straight.
Charles' relationship with electronic music started early. In high school, Dave Shayman (Disco D) introduced Charles to DJing and he was a regular at Dubplate Pressure*– Todd Osborn's now-legendary record store in Ann Arbor. By 1998, he was already playing on raves in Detroit. A year later, he was the first person to show Zach Saginaw (Shigeto) to Ghostly International, arguably altering the course of our lives forever. In the late 2000s, they became label mates on Moodgadget, the record label of Jakub Alexander (Heathered Pearls).
Through out the years, Charles has been a musical mentor (whether DJing, producing or throwing shows) to many, danced at every weekly at every venue in Ann Arbor & Detroit, produced Hip Hop, and fronted a psych rock band. He has released music on Moodgadget (US), Musique Large (FR), Lovemonk (ES), Vanity Press (US) and JFX Lab (FR). Today, between DJing, hosting radio shows and producing new music, Charles regularly throws shows/parties/raves, and hosts a monthly at Deluxx Fluxx.
We love Charles Trees and we're proud to present "2019," the eighth record on Portage Garage Sounds.
*Additional reading: Dubplate Pressure: was the precursor to Technical Equipment Supply; how Todd Osborn was discovered by Richard D. James and signed to Rephlex Records; where Sam Valenti IV, the founder of Ghostly International, met Tadd Mullinix (Dabrye, JTC, Charles Manier, X-Altera); one of the reasons why we're all here
"Got No"
Hit the ground running.
Chopped up vocal stabs and a playful syncopated melody accompany this percussion heavy two-step shuffle as it speeds down the Lodge on a Friday night in Detroit.
"Think First"
Undeniable rhythm section pocket.
Acoustic bass and dirty ride symbols swing alongside lush keyboards and sprinkles of light melodicism in this psych house banger.
Think St. Germain with CAN playing a warped version of "Rose Rouge."
"In Arms"
Crave the rave. Whips crack and sizzle in this dubbed out techno slapper. A modern take on a classic sound. Trees conjures an era close to his heart: when the warehouse was church and service didn't stop until the sun came up.
"Acja feat. Marcus Elliot ("12 club mix)
Beautifully understated and triumphant.
This closer marks the return of Detroit Saxophonist Marcus Elliot (Detroit pt II - PGS 001). His notes dance and soar over a creeping acid line, while driving drums and warm pads effortlessly take you home in this powerful house anthem.

The latest release from Serbia's Soul Print Recordings brings together the two L's, Leonid and Laak. Up first is Leonid on the A side with two tracks Urania 1 and 2, possibly named after the muse of astronomy, which makes sense, as both tracks have a cosmic feel about them. Urania 1 starts off with a nice string sound that permeates the space before the drums start to really take effect half way through. Urania 2 has a more house feel about it, with the acid bass line sitting nicely along the deep pads. Over to the b side and Laak takes control. Delving into late night territory with haunting layered leads & pads these tracks are typical quality by Laak. Featuring label artwork once again by fellow Serb, Bratislav Milenkovic and pressed on a beautiful sky blue, Yesterday For Tomorrow is a thing of aural and visual beauty.

Berlin's Sascha Funke weighs in with a hard-hitting new four-tracker for Tiga's label. Hot off his comeback on Multi Culti, this latest EP for Turbo Recordings takes the hypnotic, progressive vibe and drives it a little bit harder, leaning into every snare with precise power, carefully administering tension over the duration of professionally-paced arrangements. Title-track 'IFA,' already a weapon in the crates of Funke-friends like Rebolledo, Michael Mayer and Tiga, sounds like the kind of peak-time party power you'd expect those dudes to pull out in the darker hours of their deepest sets, when the soundtrack calls for more than basic, visceral limb-pumping, but full disorientation, actual mind-losing. 'Robur' rolls out of that space with minimalistic-tribalism, sounding like a mental apocalyptic march, pushing forward with intractable force, an energy which eventually relents on 'MZ,' opening up dramatically with an epic chord progression that blooms into ecstatic, piano-house. Think 'old-school baby,' revisited with bittersweet self-awareness, taking us back to a place we know well, inspiring one last dance, accessing the naive rave-spirit all-too often forgotten in the 'industry'. Finally, 'Barkas' recalls the tones and timbres from 'In Relationen,' reflecting an emotionally placid state, a sound of radiant clarity, the sound of an artist at peace with his place in the cosmos, balancing past and future, energy and stillness, mind and body.

After showcasing his knack for emotive productions via various EPs throughout his career, including chart-topping singles on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep in Sound and Dave Seaman's Selador, the Swiss artist Several Definitions now reveals his first full-length album. It should come as no surprise that the artist found familiarity in what he calls the Berlin style' of electronic music and notably, that of Oliver Koletzki's Stil vor Talent. Reborn After The Road is an intense and emotional affair, consisting of 14 tracks crafted using field and live recordings, switching between analogue and digital to mould a sonic atmosphere that emblazons the artist's core ethos. Although the personal experience that sparked the inspiration for the LP is far from pleasant, Several Definitions' style is audibly resolute. Reborn After The Road, the album's eponymous track, creates a fitting intro for the healing process that is to follow. Its airy pads and majestic strings sonically stand at the epicenter of the expressive album. Several Definitions continues to explore these sounds on vaporous slices like Pontceard 32 or the more acidical Last Breath. The mellifluous, feminine vocals of LaMeduza on Learn To Feel and Her, as well as Spanish singer Goldsun's crooner talents on the introspective Trust, on the other hand, showcase Several Definitions' ability to work the human voice into his musical explorations. Taking introspection one step further towards darker realms, Senelity then feels like a rite of passage into the deeper and more intense segment at the album's core. Over You briefly signals a turning point, with its alarm-like synths and grave leads, which is then followed by the glitchy resistance on Modular Spaces. The Escape
Tiefschwarz are back again on Watergate with a dub version and three stellar remixes of 'Free Falling feat. Khan' from their recent and highly acclaimed album 'Left'. Kicking things off is Skream and he takes the original to new heights in true Skream fashion with vivid arpeggios and silky vocals laid over reverb heavy snares and driving percussion ideal for the more climactic dance floor scenarios. Up next is a man who needs no introduction: Acid Pauli. Already a legend in his own right, we last saw him on Watergate on the Peahen EP with MyMy and Lee Jones back in 2010 and now he's back with not one, but two incredible remixes. Both his 'Cloudbuster and Clouddiver Remix' are lush displays of melodic, yet driving takes on the original. Warm pads and pulsing bass create a swirling melodic journey on both with 'Cloudbuster' being the more pumping and 'Clouddiver' taking the deeper route giving you two foolproof options. Wrapping things up is Tiefschwarz' own dub version of 'Free Falling feat Khan' and with it they deliver a stripped down take of the original, yet keeping just a touch of the low slung, sleek vocals to make sure it still has the quintessential Tiefschwarz feel. Enjoy!

Juan MacLean and Man Power debut as Juan Power for Life and Death
Life and Death continue to serve up brilliantly unpredictable releases with a new one that brings together American DFA stalwart Juan MacLean with the UK’s Me Me Me label head Man Power, plus an edit from the boss, DJ Tennis.
Juan MacLean is a multi-faceted artist who has a history of everything from playing in post hardcore bands to producing some of DFA’s most celebrated releases. He does classy house bangers with synth pop and disco layers like no one else. Man Power, meanwhile, is someone who is fantastically eclectic in what he does on all fronts as a DJ, label boss and producer. He’s made corrugated acid, hands in the air house and machine disco and plenty in between on his own label, but also cult outlets like Correspondent and ESP Institute. The coming together of these two undoubted studio wizards, then, is a fascinating prospect.
And so it proves right from the off: opener ‘Crescendo’ is a nine minute masterpiece with rickety house drums making you move while the shuffling percussion builds the pressure. Gorgeously warm chords eventually join the fray and have a blissful effect that sets you off dreaming and keeps you in a trance until the end.
DJ Tennis himself then steps up with an edit of ‘Excuse Me Daddy’ that is deep and cavernous. Next to the suspensory pads is an intricate synth line that takes you in on yourself in perfectly melancholic ways.
Closer ‘Praise The Toad’ then picks up the pace with more live sounding drums and a sparkling lead synth that rises and falls to cosmic effect. Drawn out over the full length of the track, and in amongst some chattery claps and smart effects, it makes for a journey to the stars that will cast a real spell on all who hear it.
This is an innovative collaboration between two masters of their craft.

2018 is going to see the bond between Khidja & Malka Tuti strengthen, with the Romanian duo bringing forward their eclectic, cross-genre approach to electronic music in the shape of 2 full releases as well as several remixes tba. "Plot" & "Am I Really Here" are two dance-floor bangers, not hiding behind fashions and hype, the duo is pushing forward on both tracks, each with its own idea and story to tell. This one continues Malka Tuti's 12' dance series perfectly, with both tracks being pressed on 45rpm and getting each its own side.

Silent Season is proud to present Segue's third full-length LP with the label. On his new album, Jordan Sauer explores a new facet of West Canadian natural history. Four thousand years ago, Western Canada's First Nations people migrated into the fjords and rainforests carved out by the retreating glaciation of the last Ice Age. The Island is a tribute to Canada's prehistory and the spiritual journey of a people entering a forever- altered landscape to call their home.
While Segue's last album very much explored a cross section journey of British Columbia from the mountains to the sea, The Island explores the hidden coastlines and inlets that pepper a still- mysterious landscape.
Throughout the album, each song spreads out beautifully as a reflection of the place or thing it's named after and paints a stunning portrait of BC's natural wealth. At first glance it seems like a tourist's guide, but when you listen deeper, The Island blossoms into something deeply personal and moving- a sonic imprint of places in relation to culture. One listen will put you right in the rainforests and mountains that the Coast Salish has called their home.

Ideas call for realisation, realisations turn into habits, habits then quickly turn into traditions, and traditions become an intrinsic part of culture. Born at the turn of the new millennium as a symbol of a new era for electronic music, Kompakt's longstanding TOTAL series returns with its 18th iteration, spreading over two CDs the essential of the label's last few months of intense activity and extended breadth of resources, blowing out its 25th birthday candle with the breath of a young, throbbing heart.
Introducing faces new and familiar, full-scale hits and criminally overlooked tunes, TOTAL 18 recollects glorious moments on the dancefloor and further intimate ones between friends, inviting the listener to flick through a family album marked with tracks as distant yet eerily close as Sonns highly sensual 'Tame' and John Tejada's propulsive 'Detector', Terranova's elegiac 'Let It Fail' and Rex The Dog's mind-altering 'Crasher' but also, and as usual, its lot of unreleased cuts - transcending the mere retrospective nature of the classic compilation format for a further complete core sampling of Kompakt's zeitgeist.
With a handful exclusive deliveries courtesy of label co-founder Jürgen Paape - here making a rare appearance with the humbly-titled opener 'Well It's Paape', &nd's one and only Aaron Ahrends with the nostalgic 'Eyes Closed', Tobias Thomas and Michael Mayer as Thomas/Mayer, Lebsanft & Raquet and the poetic synthesis of 'Signale', Cologne figure Jörg Burger on electro-punk- wave mode, minimal Danish talent Christian Nielsen and Voigt & Voigt for a session of left-of-centre techno, TOTAL 18 sweeps the spectrum back and forth, navigating from the deeper umbra onto the brighter shades seamlessly.
A wide-scope snapshot of the label's recent past, immediate present and near future, TOTAL 18 moves and shifts, from the power of dancefloor-oriented pieces such as Tom Demac & Real Lies' 'White Flowers' (here presented in its house version), Dixon's silky revamp of Vermont and Gui Boratto's euphoric club weapon 'Forgive Me' onto the funky electro pop flavours of Fahrland, cosmic dub-tech jazz of Ghost Vision and robot bounce of T. Raumschmiere's 'Augen Zu' for a whelming tour d'horizon. Kompakt's annual yearbook as seen through Michael Mayer's eyes, for your ears and pleasure. A collection of music to discover and rediscover.
"It's become such a nice tradition to put together TOTAL compilations. It feels a lot like going through one's photos at the end of the year. Memories come back to mind from moments when a particular track made its first impression on me or how the same track would become a highlight in my DJ sets at some point. Each track has a story to tell. Apart from the obvious big tunes, TOTAL's also bear room for the sleeper hits, those tracks that were criminally overlooked. With a bunch of new exclusive contributions thrown in the mix there's plenty to discover or rediscover. KOMPAKT's annual yearbook seen through my eyes for your ears and pleasure" - Michael Mayer
- Michael Mayer

The title Ghost Frequency works on several levels. I was introduced to the term when I first began learning about recording techniques. It was used (usually negatively) to describe sounds that appeared on recordings due to signal interactions that resulted from “improper” mixing or recording and read as “noise” rather than the “music” that was being recorded. I became instantly fascinated with the phenomenon and intentionally creating these sounds in my recordings by deliberately using supposedly incorrect techniques has become a big part of my composing and recording process, probably the most central and consistent practice of it. I’m interested in how the presence of these sounds, and traditional production’s insistence on eradicating relates to larger ideas about the eradication of vital social practices relating to the dead such as ancestor worship, mediumship and history itself in favor of state and market dictated modes of understanding existence. The internet abounds with references to the the term, but applied to ultra low frequency or “infrasound” which can allegedly be responsible for inducing supernatural perception experiences. These posts from the margins posit a Ghost Frequency that operates on the same level as a radio station, one can simply tune into paranormal activity. It’s also a pun on an imaginary metric of how frequently ghosts might be around at any given moment. The songs on the EP employ (as does all of my music) a large amount of Ghost Frequencies (i.e. sounds that appear on the recording as the result of signal interactions rather than those sounds being performed on an instrument) and they also orient themselves toward interaction with the dead as a necessary component of human experience, and a mode of resistance to state power and it’s accompanying carceral technologies.
Diynamic's sublabel 2DIY4 will be releasing an EP of Moby remixes, with four different takes from four integral members of the label family. Swiss production duo Adriatique open the release with their version of 'Wait For Me'. Preserving the original's distinctive piano line, the pair's subtle update uses a deep bassline and rearranges the breathy vocals for a more dancefloor facing version of the original. Their latest remix of Marc Romboy and Stephan Bodzin's 'Atlas' has been a big success, hitting #1 on Beatport. Magdalena takes on 'Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad'; a stomping build up utilises elements of the original's percussion over a rumbling sub bass, before a break down mid-way through reveals the vocal line. Stimming uses a rather old school build up approach for his percussive remix of 'Natural Blues', with a gradual rise in complexity; running at over 10 minutes, the track is a more upbeat take on the original suitable for peak time sets. Meanwhile, Johannes Brecht's take on the same track features the original piano motif, a grooving bass line and the vocals taking a more prominent role. The Moby remixes EP is an original series of tasteful reimaginings of the producer's most iconic songs from some of Diynamic's most established artists.

OOSSHA continues her path with a second release by G. Markus titled Warning! OOSSHA is an outlet for music that’s dedicated to house and alternative styles while always maintaining ferce and unique ingredients that conquer hearts. UK producer Ben Gomori revisits his G. Markus alter ego for an EP that pays tribute to the Jungle and Drum & Bass soundtrack of his formative years. Dreemscape ’93 opens the EP; a vibey piece that instantly recalls old school house tracks with its use of a contagious groove, fltered elements and a specifc vocal sample taken from Dreamscape's 1993 NYE party. On the same side we find queniv turning B side track The Sleepless Moon into his unique blend of breakbeat elements and twisted ambient layers. On the fipside, Roger Gerressen turns Dreemscape 93’ into his own interpretation of lo-f fltered chord sweetness and combining it with hypnotizing Rhodes patterns. B2 makes space for the original Sleepless Moon which is all about the rhythms. Intricate midi programming triggers acoustic drum samples that intertwine with twinkling ear candy and a jungle break before breaking up the patterns with an infectious bassline.

We are happily welcoming Jacob Groening to the Earthly Delights family,
a talented producer that has been on our radar for a while. Jacob comes
through with a very special 3 track EP, which will be our first ever vinyl
release. The EP features his unique sound that he masterfully integrates
into his live shows. Working more with musicians that he records at his
studio, he plays around with the recordings, taking it to the extremes
when it comes to cutting, pitching, warping. “...following my
intentional flow, not trying to force a specific sound. I am more listening
to what sounds are good to me and feel right.”
Jacob uses Prophet 12 a lot for the pads and most synthesized sounds in
EP, using the almighty moog voyager for the bass, recording percussion
and vocals. Most of the recordings are made with long-time friends and
other Berlin musicians. Noah Rott, who played the keys for Fask is Jacob’s
first Piano teacher from Hamburg and they have often collaborated since.
“Another very close friend of mine, Joel Silberkuhl, played the hang drum
for Fask and the guitar for Lacun. I visited him at his house in Luneburg in
northern Germany and we made music all day long. It brought us back to
our jam sessions when we were just 13 years old, playing reggae, hip hop,
jazz and rock...” Joining the release is a Canadian smooth vibes operator, Gab Rhome, who delivers a minimal melodic house vinyl only version
that's perfect to have on a 12”.
This EP interlines Jacobs friendships and experience making it a
heart-warming and truly personal release we are thrilled to share with
you !

Matthias Tanzmann has released countless classic tracks on his Leipzig, Germany based label Moon Harbour. In the past he has played at Claude VonStroke's Birdhouse event in Miami and Claude always seems to run into him in Ibiza. We have always wanted to work with him and then out of the blue a demo showed from on our doorstep! This two tracker has a great, jackin Dirtybird sound and we are very happy to welcome Matthias to the family.

Thread captured our ears with their early outings on Reach Recordz, where they showed a unique approach to stripped down breaks and electro, mixing broken beats with minimal, electro and tech-house.
A project run by two hard-working veterans involved in the electronic music scene for the past 15 years, Marc Ashken and Ben Micklewright, Thread is just one of the several facets of this productions duo which is playing a key role in silently and relentlessly defining what we believe is a very unique sound, that blends influences coming from the vast legacy of the UK electronic music culture.
For this EP we’ve selected four diverse cuts that showcase Thread’s distinctive sound while keeping in line with our ethos of finding music that’s out of trends and time.

DJ Koyote and Too Smooth Christ team up to release 'On Some Party Tunes', a 3-track EP of collaborative and spontaneous jams. Willing to produce coupe-decale-inspired tracks with old analogue gear, they crafted at the end an hybrid sound mixture, somewhere between South African House, Grime and UK Funky. On 'Error : Does Not Compute', a TR606 meets swirling arpeggios spiced with crystal riffs. A sneaky bass line provides an even more swaying groove to the track. On 'Strike (On-A-String Mix)', a straight-out-of-Pretoria riff meets a strong and conquering string stab on top of a really dry and thumping beat. 'Modern Action' is the most introspective track of the EP, with an M1 pattern flipped upside-down and hazy cymbals rythms.

Seven years down the line and Tamed Musiq is proud to present its first-ever album release: ,,Upstream Color" by Iron Curtis. This long-awaited follow-up to ,,Soft Wide Waist Band" represents a milestone for the Berlin-based producer and easily ranks as his most accomplished (and personal) work amidst an already brilliant repertoire. Similar to an impressionist painter, Iron Curtis portrays a well-known subject (house music) in a dream-like environment by employing a palette of ethereal sounds, subdued melodies and bass-heavy beats. The outcome is a beautiful aural experience and while ,,Upstream Color ,, never strays too from the dancefloor, the album requests multiple listens to unlock all of its mysteries.

Have you ever heard about Basketball House? Rebound Lounge is a label and production project consisting of DJ Dog(aka DJ Fett Burger) & Double Dancer. Both of them are Norwegian dj/producers and they have been based in Berlin for the last 10 years. Together they produce all the music released on the label as well as creating the graphic profile. Now it is time for the slamming 3rd record in the series and this one is cleverly named ‘Rebound Lounge 3′. They have been ‘Rejuvenating the basketball house scene since 2016′ as they like to say. A genre they claim to have invented and thus rejuvenated since day 1. The statement does not make much sense.. Anyway, in the music presented they are using sounds from the basketball world and weave this in to the productions. It can be a shoe rubbing on the wooden court, a cheering audience, a yelling coach or a heavy slam dunk. Sometimes clearly audible, sometimes hidden deep in the mix. From this mixture the unique Rebound Lounge sound is created.

At the end of 2014, Moon Harbour celebrated their decade long association with Luna City Express in the form of a fine
compilation of hits. Featuring all the German duo's greatest tracks, the label has now enlisted some serious talents to remix
them for this new Ten Years Remixed compilation.
Luna City Express is Norman Weber and Marco Resmann, a production duo that has defined the modern house and tech house
scene with their continuously on point and inventive originals and remixes, and now their greatest moments get new surges of
life at the hands of a range of contemporary stars. Some are label regulars and some are brand new to the stable, but all come
up with the goods.
Up first, AudioJack flip 'The Next Level' into a trippy bit of groove driven tech with tightly coiled bass. Hamburg's Sidney Charles
- one of the most charted artists around - then turbo charges 'I Don't Think So' with his trademark hard hitting drums. After that,
Einzelkind's Para Yok Mix of 'Magic Bazar' is a more melodically inclined effort that twists and turns with a slick energy.
Spanish star Hector Couto then keeps things deep and rubbery with his version of 'Are You Ready' and Oliver Dollar and
Matthew K layer up warm and soothing loops on their Play Prime Mix of the steamy and sensuous 'REM'. One of the most
seminal names in deep, spiritual and jazzy house is Kevin Yost, and he is enlisted to do his thing on 'Celebration Of Life', which
turns out to be a spooky, late night cut full of percolating tension.
Elsewhere, Supernova step up with a direct and piano laced remix of 'Gloria', Marco Faraone injects some lithe acid into his
techno leaning version of 'Get High', the lovable Italoboyz let their personalities shine in their big and bouncy remix of 'Luna City
Lab', young Defected stars Flashmob keep things chunky and kick driven on their take on 'Mr. Jack' and finally Oliver Dollar and
Matthew K serve up another remix of REM that is deeper and more organic, sombre and richly melodic.
All in all this compilation offers up lots of heat for DJs and dancers alike and proves that as well as Luna City Express being an

After already putting out great efforts from the likes of Josh Wink and Jesse Rose, Moon Harbour serves up a second selection of remixes of key tracks from Matthias Tanzmann's 2016 album, Momentum. This time it is family member Emanuel Satie, plus house legend Kerri Chandler, new school innovator Acid Pauli and UK talent Hot Since 82 who all get the call.
It is the Knee Deep In Sound boss, Hot Since 82, who kicks things off. He has become a headline star in the last couple of years with his own parties and heartfelt house jams finding favour with DJs and dancers all over. His take on 'Tamarind' is an unsettling tech cut with snaking synths bringing a sense of paranoia to the fluttering percussion and loopy drums. Hard to pin down German innovator Acid Pauli then flips 'Coffee Clouds' into a spacious and warm, rubbery and deep house groove with delicate little synth droplets and wooden percussive ticks. It's gooey and hypnotic, to be sure.
Moon Harbour man Emanuel Satie is next and goes for the peak of the night with his busy and high pressure take on 'Frenzy'. Its brilliantly blasted synth stabs, jostling drums and all action vibes make you want to loosen every limb on your body and really get lost in the beats. Last but not least, New Jersey don of the deep and genuine house legend Kerri Chandler turns out a masterful version of 'Sfumato' that is moody and atmospheric from the off. The kicks are lazy and inviting, the details bring a sci-fi feel and the whole thing just welcomes you right into its groove.
Offering some slick variations on the great originals, this remix EP mixes up old and new school talents with equally impactful results.

After a two-year gap, Moon Harbour's family focussed Inhouse series is back with an eighth excellent instalment. Once again it is jam packed with 12 new and exclusive tracks from the likes of label regulars Re.You, Darius Syrossian, boss Matthias Tanzmann, Zohki, Anek, Dan Drastic & Sven Tasnadi, Yousef and many more.
The Moon Harbour label always pushes the boundaries of tech house. On point A&R means new artists constantly join the family, while long time members continue to evolve and hone their sound so that, in its 18th year, the label is as fresh and exciting as ever. This new compilation once again proves that and is an essential collection of tunes for DJs and dancers alike.
Re.You kicks things off after appearing on the label with Floyd Lavine already in 2018. His 'Voodoo Tool' is a tribal number with big drums and plenty of attitude. Do Not Sleep main man Darius Syrossian serves up a typically chunky, sweaty house cut with 'Hammer' and Emanuel Satie's 'No Sleep' is a silky bit of house with infectious drums and smooth chord stabs warming it through. The ever-innovative Daniel Stefanik then offers an edgy, tripped out tech cut with sharp hi hats and brain frying synth lines.
'Concrete' from label head Tanzmann is a playful tune that teases with breakdowns and sweeping filters before his prickly drums and unhinged vocal sounds drive again. Circus founder Yousef caters to a main room crowd with his huge 'You Can't Hide Nothing' feat. Moji, Zhoki keeps it tight and kinetic with perfectly programmed drums and lush chords, and Danish pair Anek pump it up with big loops and whirring machines that will get hands in the air. A bumping cut from Leftwing & Kody, dubbed out groove from Paul C and bobbing bassline from Tennan then lead into last track 'Final Call' by Dan Drastic and regular collaborator Sven Tasnadi. It's wonky, twisted affair with a wild bassline that brings excellent house looseness to the compilation.
Mixing the right amount of functionality and personality, these are 12 more terrific tracks that will detonate any dance floor.

Oliver Dollar returns to his own Industry Standard imprint after his debut album ‘Another Day Another Dollar’ and the run of singles on IS were licensed to Classic Music Company.
‘Dreams for Sale’ is stellar collaborative cut with Detroit’s Mike ‘Agent X’ Clark featuring vocals from Dr Tingle Fingers. The single also welcomes Bendersnatch to the Industry Standard family who step up on remix duties. The original work kicks off with a rich house groove, paving the way for a slightly eerie strings loop and subtle pumping bass line which locks you in from the off. Dr Tingle Fingers delivers beautiful spoken word in classic house form proving simplicity really can be key as the track develops effortlessly throughout its entirety.
Bendersnatch takes things towards the backroom as darker fuzzy kicks rattle you inside and reverb soaked stabs float effortless over the even more minimalistic percussion. Tingle Fingers’ vocals appear in stripped back form complimenting the more underground tones of the rework. Dreams for Sale’ is a strong return for the label with two tracks that cover classic
deeper house, and crunchy off-kilter techy vibes. The limited vinyl release will be
followed by a digital release at a later date.

We were really impressed by "Invisibility Theory", the Sushitech released debut album from Christi Cons and Vlad Caia's Sideways Invisibility Theory project. This speedy follow-up for Half Baked Records (under the truncated SIT pseudonym) is rather good, too. Check first A-side "Spectral", a typically epic excursion where warm ambient chords, deep space electronics and glistening electric guitar motifs bob and weave around a chunky analogue bassline and locked-in tech-house drums. B-side opener "Owl Farm" is notably wonkier and weirder, with druggy drums, mind-altering electronics and the trademark glitch-laden shuffle we've come to expect from Romanian electronic music. That vibe is explored further on twisted closing cut "Animation", a particularly alien example of skewed tech-house funk.

Emerging UK talent Casey Spillman debuts on Infuse this July, accompanied by FUSE boss Enzo Siragusa on remix duties.
A rising DJ and producer within the UK’s bubbling scene, London’s Casey Spillman is most certainly an artist to take note of for 2019. Taking influences from UK dubstep and garage through to film scores and beyond, his slick blend of bumping house music has seen him take to key institutions across the country including Fabric, Village Underground, and Distrikt in recent months, whilst also joining the FUSE crew at Studio 338 late last year as part of their ten year ‘Decade Of Rave’ celebrations. Following releases on Daydream, Sukhumvit and Blind Vision to name just a few, he now makes his debut appearance Infuse, offering up three lively productions in the form of his ‘Adore and Edure Each Other’ EP with FUSE head Enzo Siragusa turning in a slick interpretation of the lead cut to complete the package.
Lead track ‘Avec Moi’ is a pacey effort that balances skipping hats and shuffling percussion with rich chords and infectious female vocal hooks, whilst ‘Temperature’ introduces a weighty garage-tinged bassline that snakes amongst off-kilter bleeps and sharp lasers. Next, Siragusa’s remix of ‘Avec Moi’ employs rolling percussion arrangements amongst soaring atmospherics and warped vocals, before ‘Endure’ combines swinging drums and groove-heavy bass guitar licks to reveal an impressive house cut that closes out proceedings in style.

Nicewon kicks off 2019 with the 'Live on DuPont EP' from Christian James. Christian drops three new cuts, stamped with unmistakable mid-west vibes, fresh from flyover USA and pulls in a super-phat remix, from one of London's most exciting producer's- Cody Currie. Following up on his SummerSota EP, he stays true to his roots with driving drum-grooves, heavy use of samplers and drum machines, with some great synth work and pulls it all together by jamming it out- live. Cody Currie brings that floor-stompin attitude to this remix and cracks the WHIP with those beloved filter disco vibes, for all the heads. This EP kicks some serious Minneapolis warehouse flavor, to fit all corners of the dancefloor. We hope you enjoy NCWN04!
Produced in Minneapolis. Mastered by Rob Small Mastering ( Leeds, UK ). Artwork by Jeff Swiff.
Nacho Bolognani has been steadily building up a solid foundation of work over the past few years, moonlighting on labels like Fun Records, Momentz and MyHouse YourHouse. Now the house producer brings his skills to Purism, Enrico Mantini's on-point label that deals in all kinds of sublime stripped back jams. DKGF EP leads in with "Distance Dub," a steady ticking tool that should sit easy in the mix with all manner of sounds and styles. "Kip" brings a more shuffling strain of dancefloor goodness to the table, with some spooky key flourishes and slithers of vocal pinging out into the spacious mix. "Grey" plies a more nagging, techy trade, and "Flow" takes things deep with pattering percussion and atmospheric pad tones.

Red Axes is the project of Tel-Aviv-based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi. They had a meteoric rise over the last 12 months with a string of releases on labels like Multi Culti, Crosstown Rebels, Hivern Disc as well as on their freshly founded own imprint Garzen. As a result they've deservedly become sought after remixers and global DJs. Coming from a band background (as members of new wave / post punk band Red Cotton) Dori and Niv often use live instruments, Oriental influences and techno elements on their recordings thereby blurring the boundaries between songs and tracks. For the 'Sun My Sweet Sun' EP - Red Axes first outlet on Permanent Vacation - they've added a tropical facet to their sound, that instantly lets your brain recall happy times. Percussion-filled and sun-drenched club music for long days and long nights.

Cinthie joins the roster of Aus Music this November with her 'Trust' EP, comprising three original cuts from the Berlin artist. Founder of several imprints, namely Beste Modus, we_r_house and 803 Crystalgrooves, as well as her own label collective and record store brand Elevate, native Berliner Cinthie has become a highly respected figure in electronic music in her hometown and across the globe over the past few years. Most notably known for her long standing as a DJ primarily, yet recent months have seen Cinthie build her own studio and dedicate much of her time to carefully crafting the music she's always longed to. This new EP for Will Saul's Aus Music is a product of this time spent and marks the next phase for Cinthie's productions. Title-track 'Trust' leads on the package, fuelled by an infectious marimba style percussive melody, bright tension building strings and a bumpy bass hook whilst crunchy drums and a spellbinding arpeggio leads further fuels the emotive, subtly blooming feel. 'Lost At Sea' follows next, employing a loosely flowing organic drum groove, jazzy Rhodes chords and resonant moog style synth licks to create yet another classy twist on contemporary house music. 'Hip Swing' then rounds out the package on a deeper tip with heavily swung, up-tempo drums at the forefront whilst murky bass reverberations, choppy stabs and ethereal pads subtly ebb and flow in the depths.

It's...album time on WPH! Metrobox has cooked us up a collection of original, mindblowing, swinging and most of all beautiful tracks ranging from total dancefloor devastation to introspective journeys.
Exactly what an album should be like if you ask us.
With our regular 12' series both coming to end some people thought that WPH would end as well. You should've known better, because there is too much gorgeous music coming from our small WPH family to just let other labels shine with it. And so we have decided to throw caution into the wind and embark on a new story. A story in which our artists get to tell their story by means of a full album.
At the heart of Metrobox' sound is a love for Moog, 909 and SH 101 sounds, combined with a knack for seductive melodies and a healthy dose of vocal action. Two collaborations with WPH head honcho Red D and Belgian MC champ TLP add some extra oldskool flavor to the proceedings.
And yes, we are well aware of the fact that double or triple albums are heavy on your budget and that you all prefer to shell out 15 euro for a one-sided limited Detroit release instead of a 12' with three tracks you like...so this album will come in three separately available 12's, giving you complete buyer freedom.

About We Play House Recordings
We Play House Recordings - WPH - is the work of Belgian DJ & producer Red D. Started 10 years ago to release the music of his friend san Soda, the label had (and has) the aim to release house music in all its shapes and forms. WPH's house ethics date back to the days where house was just a name for music that was played in clubs. There is no such thing as tech house, no such thing as deep house or minimal, there is simply (house) music, good or bad.
We Play House Recordings is lovingly led by Red D (real name Bart Van Neste), one of Belgium's leading underground music figures. Be it in his role as DJ, A&R, promoter, music panel host or general nitelife instigator, Red D does things with passion, humor and a healthy dose of keeping-both-feet-firmly-on-the-ground...with a twist...
WPH was started in 2007, so it takes no math genius to know that in 2017 the label is celebrating its 10 years anniversary. Running from the spring till winter 2017 this anniversary will be celebrated with special vinyl releases, a triple CD, a digital compilation, a Spotify playlist and a series of label nights all over Belgium and beyond. True to form the compilation will have WPH classics but also a BIG bunch of new material from core artists of the label like Locked Groove, San Soda, Kiani & His Legion, Fabrice Lig and many more.

Ilija Rudman presents Andre Espeut 'Tears To Sound'
featuring Ron Trent Mix
Over the last decade and a half, Ilija Rudman has been responsible for many high quality releases, delivering distinctly warm, sun-kissed, analogue-rich material on labels including Bearfunk, Instruments Of Rapture, Compost , 20/20 Vision, Electric Minds, Is It Balearic Recordings, Rong Music , Classic Music Company and of course, his own Red Music imprint.
Even so, the Croatian has rarely made anything quite as deep and sensual as the material showcased on this first full EP for NuNorthern Soul. Top billing must go to the "Aquapella" version of "Tears To Sound", a spellbinding acapella cut that puts the enchanting vocals of storied soul man Andre Espeut front and centre. When Rudman sent the track to old friend Phil Cooper, the NuNorthern Soul boss thought it sounded like something he'd hear from US deep house legend Ron Trent. So, he approached the Prescription co-founder to see if he fancied remixing it. As you might expect, the results are astonishingly good.
Rich in rising and falling new age melodies, darting synthesizer motifs, languid piano flourishes and heavy analogue bass, Trent's wonderfully ultra-deep interpretation naturally gives pride of place to Espeut's seductive vocal. Even by the Chicagoan's infamously high standards, his epic Vocal Mix is incredibly special.
All versions of the single also feature two other original Rudman productions, both of which are wonderfully deep and dreamy. "Distant Feelings" is fluid, deep and yearning, with twinkling electric piano motifs and dreamy chords reclining over sizzling drum machine cymbals, no-nonsense beats and a gently pulsing analogue bassline. Those who enjoy the Balearic side of Rudman's work should also check out "Deep Sensation", a jazzy and breezy fusion of tumbling, vibraphone style melodies, rolling electric piano riffs and rubbery boogie bass. Both tracks are every bit as magical in their own way as the producer's thrilling Andre Espeut collaboration.
The young Dutch DJ & producer Lewski debuts on Darko Esser's Wolfskuil Limited series with 'Folkloric Human' EP presenting four fine Electro / Techno cuts. The title track opens the EP with a blend of old school electro and distinctly modern techno, featuring rhythmic bouncy beats and a playful built up perfect for the floor, followed by 'Phase Mistress', a vintage sounding beauty with captivating bass sequences and plenty of analog flavor.'EreBus' kicks off the B-side with its twisted drive, cyborg samples and sinister attitude that justifies it's name been derived from the mythological god of darkness. The atmospheric, Detroit flavored 'Decommissioned Androids' rounds the EP off with tight basslines and relentless analog madness.Lewski's debut EP on Patron Records last year gained support by the likes of Ben UFO, DJ Stingray and Umwelt. Lewski is part of a select cut of young artists who are absorbing electro's legacy, carrying it into the future and with his release on Wolfskuil Limited we can be sure that the future looks very promising.

Mella Dee’s Warehouse Music drops its second release of 2019 this summer with ‘When You Gonna Learn’, the label debut 12” from Work Them Records boss, Spencer Parker.
Berlin-based Parker rarely releases outside of his own label or Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint these days, but having struck up a friendship with Mella Dee following the former’s support of his ‘Techno Disco Tool’, the idea of a release was cemented last year. The fruits of this produced ‘When You Gonna Learn’, which comes complete with a remix from Mella Dee as well as a dub version from Parker.
As you’d expect from both artists and label, ‘When You Gonna Learn’ is an urgent, gritty powerhouse of a cut. A discordant top line threads itself through the track while Parker pushes the limits of tension building strings and drum fills to extreme effect. His dub pairs things back somewhat, allowing the main riff to do the bulk of the work while Mella Dee delivers a classy but no less forceful late-night roller of a remix.

Alex Dimou makes a welcome debut on Crosstown Rebels with What Keeps You There with two great remixes from Cevin Fisher and Avidus.
The EP begins with the enchanting nature of What Keeps You There. A prominent piano roll opens proceedings, with Vili’s moving vocals soon introduced over a chugging bassline. Cevin Fisher’s remix of the title track comes next. A more driving minimal house take on the lead record, subtle kicks converge on rustling percussion, before Vili’s emotive vocals once again form a poignantly heartfelt production. Avidus provide a dance floor-ready rework of the original, that features a mechanical sounding synth and an echoing, electric breakdown, before the EP is rounded off with Let It Be Known, a four-to-the-floor, pumping house cut made up of strong kicks and driving pads.
Alex Dimou is a producer, DJ and remixer whose career has seen him perform all around the global circuit. As a remixer, he has collaborated with the likes of Maya Jane Coles and M.A.N.D.Y, whilst his own releases have found a home on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax as well as renowned Berlin imprint Get Physical Music. Legendary American producer Cevin Fisher has been releasing standout records since 1995, achieving five entries in the UK singles chart between 1998 and 2001. German duo Avidus are regulars on Crosstown Rebels, and continue to run their own imprint Empore Music, which was launched in 2015.

Buckle up brothers and sisters, BOg is back on Monaberry and he's taking us on a trip direct to the heart of the Sahara on a magic carpet made of crisp arpeggios and powered by barbed soul hurricane atmospheric. Balmy yet foreboding, stark, alluring and fundamentally mesmerising, 'Shila's comisicity is tailormade for another perfect Monaberry excursion.
As have the remixes... Human machine Pavi makes his debut on the label with a percussion primed hypnosis piece while Edu Imbernon (also popping his Monaberry cherry) adds a few more minutes to meter with the aid of a breath-taking harmonic texture that soars with more and more emotion and intensity as the track progresses.
For the fourth and final trip BOg calls up Argentinian kindred spirit Kintar and heads due south west to Tanzania for an even deeper, sense-blurring finale. Tense, tribal and peppered with warped synth textures and sudden plunges into dark bass abysses, our only light is another sinewy arpeggio that twists and turns under a sunrise of euphoric pads and tribe song. Do not unfasten your seatbelt until the song has fully finished.
Yet another unforgettable Monaberry mission that will enthral and stimulate long beyond the hot summer ahead. Safe travels.

John Dimas is surely one of the freshest operators in the minimal house scene - his One Against Time album on Elephant Moon last year being a crowning glory in his storied career to date. Now he's back on the EP tip with this high grade hit of floor-focused funk, making his first appearance on scene-leading label Half Baked. "5putn1k" keeps the beats tough and bouncy, peppered with plenty of playful zips and wiggles for the peak time party people. "@L5d" takes a deeper, spaced-out approach, while "5p@c3 T@lk" nudges back towards a full-fat tech-house sound. "@rkyn" seals the deal with a crafty 2-step configuration for the subliminal set to get hypnagogic to.

Next up from Borft's hometown artist M Jupiter is this 12" which begins the A-side with a chord stabbin' dubby minimal workout "Over all rokky" followed by "Punk Your Tie" with eerie flanging sounds drifting around in the bass-driven and bleepy trip track. B-side opens with a snippet of fierce analogue sound effects track "Fowling Peas". B2,"Humic Acid" is a perfect Villalobos styled groovy and hypnotic minimal teasing track which grows along the way with several stories developing. Most of the tracks released by M Jupiter usually has a trippy feel about it and the last track of the record, B3, "Be Troublesome" is a cold and ominous dramatic trippy track with a great machine driven rhythm beat. -DJ Momenth
