A ten track album featuring 'piano not piano' house music created solely with a prepared piano and raw drum programming that pays homage to Chicago, Detroit, and the 20th century avant-garde. String Figures is 'screw music' in the most literal sense with direct ties to the late composer John Cage who created the first prepared piano pieces by inserting objects into the strings of a grand piano. The sound that resonates is a rich combination of tonal, atonal and percussive timbres. String Figures buzzes, vibrates, and jacks all at once.

Another top quality selection of wonderful sun-drenched obscurities from the Balearica camp. Kicking off with the brilliant instrumental version of Jago's 'I'm Going To Go' from 1983, this is Italo at its best with a super phat analogue B-line which sounds incredible on a big system. Massive on both the early Balearic scene as well as on the dance floors of Chicago and New York, this is an essential. Next up is the dreamy disco groove of Wolfgang Maus' 'Testimony' taken from his uber rare 1979 'Children Of The Universe' LP. Side B features the impossible to find but highly desirable 'It's Broken' by Bob Chance, an amazing nine minute slice of avantgarde disco rock grooviness that receives heavy rotation from DJs lucky enough to have found a copy like DJ Harvey, Rub & Tug and Soft Rocks. Finally rounding off this splendid compilation, you get the original Rolling Stones version of the Balearic favourite 'Heaven', back in demand recently after being covered by Kasper Bjorke. But you should definitely, ahem 'go for this' ! A top notch 2011 housed-up update of the 1981 Hall & Oates stomper

Hot on the heels of volume 12 and with a familiar Let's Get Lost face at the helm, volume 13 welcomes Jacques Renault aboard once more and he's jumped genres yet again! After the relentless house edits of his last LGL voyage this release sees him return to the familiar waters of synthesizer prodded orchestral disco for the first two tracks and a saxophone and choir led afrobeat gem to round things off.

Finnish DJ crew Rollomatik break out on the Boogie Boutique imprint with a two track release that aims to represent the Arctic Circle fully in the nu funk/breakbeat scene. Formed of Hesh & Eaves, Rollomatik aim to rock the party and that much is evident on this cheeky 12" with "We Love To Party" deftly blending Will Smith with Chic amidst a melange of other recognisable samples. A similar approach runs through flipside jam "The Greatest" as Rollomatik lay down the vocal from an oft used Q-Tip solo joint over a heavily filtered take on Sister Sledge's most ubiquitous track.

DFA has long been a favourite at the Bitches HQ and we were chuffed to be asked to remix one of our favourite acts, The Rapture. We certainly were not shy and dove headfirst into this mix bringing out the guitars and the lovely Beach Boy-esque harmonies twisting it into an indie-electro-house dance floor stomper. It's not for the wallflowers to be sure.

DFA have released this goodie digitally, but as we Bitches love our biscuits, we had to see it released on vinyl. And of course, we must ensure premium sound quality so this release is 45 rpm on 180 gram vinyl. Happy listening.

Two years in the making, with tunes recorded in 4 different countries, Can't Help It aims to be a modern prototype for further directions in future R&B and soul music.
The brain-child of Los Angeles born globetrotter Brian Gibbs. Born in 1978 to a Motown-addicted single mother. Gibbs absorbed the music of Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke before he could even walk. Growing up in California led to a deep rooted and abiding love for Disco, P-funk and ultimately Hip Hop. On discovering bebop and then free-jazz, Brian swore to apply the improvisational techniques to modern technology. Early works included eerie sonic predictions of things to come in the now globe conquering 'west coast beat' scene - including, on the infamous PCH label, a 13 minute opus that took us from latin jazz, to afro cuban funk and banging downtempo rhythms. Later Gibbs would move to Tokyo, turn to techno influences, and begin to release 12 vinyls at a frenzied pace! Since 1999 his projects have been diverse and undefinable, yet remained consistent and unmistakably original.

June 2012 brings Echo Park's 'Cant Help It' - the first ever full length album on Disfigured Dubz. Currently relocating back to the United States from Chile, Brian himself describes the current Echo Park direction as 'freaky bass driven hip hop and soul music with a touch of 'Nintendo noir'.

The excellent Lumberjacks In Hell imprint has served up some fine edits in its short lifespan to date, most notably from Chicago's Mutant Beat Dancer Traxx and the label's latest release turns to two other Windy City residents renowned for their collections and skills. Rahaan needs little introduction for the disco loving community with essential drops on Stillove4music, Disco Deviance and more, whilst Mr Sounds runs the excellent Bring The Heat website. This twelve is all about the A Side "Rainin Bleeding Boy" which puts a well loved UK EBM couple through the dub laden beatdown grinder - though DJs will get plenty of mileage out of both tracks on the B Side with "Flip Side" some supremely chopped up disco funk and "War I Declare" a stomping and heavily filtered bomb.

Without doubt, there are only a handful of contemporary bands who can really nail the authentic, gritty and soulful feel that so many groups attempt to create, and Australia's Deep Street Soul are one of those outfits leading from the front.
One vital factor in creating genuine 21st century funk & soul is having top notch vocalists with the prerequisite spirit of real soul and DSS suffer an embarrassment of riches in that respect - having both Mighty May Johnston and Shirley Davis strut their stuff on either side of this cracking 45 single.
Taken from the recent DSS album 'Look Out, Watch Out' (FSRCD092), the A side 'Hold On Me' was screaming out for release as a kicking 7 inch single, as May and the band push the big funk button on this original composition. We suggest you wallow in the chunky horns, diamond hard drums and growling organ riffs and let your knees be knocked bandy by Warren Hunters thundering bass lines!
Residing on the flip side is DSS's respectful take on a quite recent modern funk classic, namely Charles Bradley & The Bullets 'This Love Ain't Big Enough (for The Two Of Us) Shirley Davis puts a feminine slant on this super hard funky soul gem, and rounds off Deep Street Souls' latest addition to the modern funk lexicon.

In the words of Pitchfork's Stuart Berman, Cornershop may have made their name in the mid-1990s with a heady, cosmopolitan concoction of psychedelia, old-school funk, and mantric Punjabi folk, but their music also makes room for 1970s boogie-rock, cornball country, and vocoderized robo-disco. From their latest album, "Urban Turban" we present this fresh French filtered 'singhle'.
At its core Cornershop's "Solid Gold" is an avant-gardge homage to the happy-go-lucky pink roller-rink dance music of yesteryear, somewhere between disco house and euphoric 90's. Todd Edwards of Dusted Magazine describe it apltly as follows: "The filters on 'Solid Gold' are pure French touch, and the rapturous threading of micro-samples that dot the song's event horizon recalls Todd Edwards."
Tal M. Klein's remix brings forth vintage drum machines from the antique cabinet and geeks out on drum programming for a bit can you identify the Electro-Harmonix Super Space Drum Things turn sleazy with a 303 bass line and a touch of cowbell, Tal's remix brings a modern disco aesthetic to the original.

After extensively touring all around the globe over the last few years Jazzanova finally went back to the lab. During last
November the loose collective of stand-out musicians (members of the Jazzanova live band) spent some time together in the prestigious and legendary GDR Rundfunk Orchestra studios in East Berlin. Over several sessions most of the songs they have been performing live lately to critical and public acclaim were put to tape. This unique endeavour has been filmed and some of the footage can soon be seen in the video clip for the brand new song "I Human". "I Human" predicts the upcoming new album - Funkhaus Studio Sessions' (due in March 2012) and the tour of the same name.

What's cooler than being cool Real Cool! It's the verge of summer and we got some banging tunes for you. The record of the year has arrived.
The fourth release on Geography is the debut 12 from our hometown homeboys Real Cool. The EP is called 'Eighties Children EP' and is a playful house record including a 90's NYC house banger with a dubby moog solo, a groovy bass driven jazzy piano spoken word track, and the beautiful nu-disco influenced b-side with Bruce Hornsbyesq piano and Detroitish synth pads.
Real Cool are Patrik Andersson and Johannes Kjellgren from Geography's hometown Malmo Sweden. Patrik is one of Swedens ruffest hiphop producers and Johannes is a long time disco dj and record collector. Together they make the best of house!
Look out for this one and our future releases. Geography is our name and house is our game.

Another couple of gems from the Barbara Lynn repertoire. Barbara is known and loved on many scenes for her boundary-crossing 'I'm a Good Woman' which we released on Fryers some time ago.

Side A is a huge modern soul spin with dense production on the intro and a chorus that's broken up by a sparse open verse making for effective dancefloor teasing. Originals are notoriously difficult to locate these days and reach upwards of $500. And if you think you can manage with the reissue of a few years back, forget it, they're all off centre! Ours is done great, straight from the tapes and pressed in the USA.

Side B is criminally underplayed probably due to the huge 'I'm a Good Woman' overshadowing it. Clean and sharp and straight to the point like cold water in your face a 6am. Cracking drums, guitar and a killer vocal is all you need IF you have the talent. This alternate taken right from the master tapes is even more direct than the original and sounds as if it was recorded yesterday, MASSIVE!

Nynfus Corporation is the name of a crew of rising starts in the nu funk/ghetto funk scene. Top class ghetto funk productions with an ethnic twist are what the 3 boys from Budapest, Hungary are all about.
After doing release on the Bombastic Jamand BigM label the crew turned to BBP to drop their dopest release to date. The a-side gives us funky peak time ghetto pumpin' jams, whiles the b-side shows us a little a of that ethnic/Europeanstyles the boys do all so well. All 4 tunes are tested with party rockin' guarantee, and they'll surely be doing some major damage on the dancefloors this summer.

2011's debut album from The Shaolin Afronauts 'Flight Of The Ancients' was a critical and commercial success story, lauded as a truly original blend of the sounds of1970's West Africa, Ethiopia and the pioneering and progressive avant-garde jazz artists of the same period.
This new single 'Brooklyn' displays the bands musical progression. Whilst the multi layered rhythms remain, as well the hypnotic horns and melodic interplay, the soulful, jazz inspired harmony has been taken up several levels to a quite stunning effect.
The b side of this limited edition 12 inch single is a very special live version of 'Kilimanjaro', which was recorded in January 2012 at the Adelaide Festival Centre, Space Theatre with an expanded 18 piece line up - as The Shaolin Afronauts Ensemble. This track is not included on the forthcoming new album and is a totally exclusive to this single.

K - Skip' Skipson has built himself quite a fan base with his funky releases as (Knarf) Skipson on Quintessentials and other labels. The young man from Berlin is deeply infuenced by Hip Hop - both in terms of production techniques (he uses an MPC as his main instrument) as well as aesthetically. For Maria Colors he comes up with four massive House tracks full of Hip Hop and Soul samples which make you wonder: can it get any deeper than this! Funky as hell and extremely soulful - that's what makes these tracks from Skipson so special - and at the same time they're a wonderful way to celebrate the label's frst birthday. The photography on the record comes from Laptopcity 2000.

With releases on labels like Idle Hands and [nakedlunch] in 2011, this man has established himself as one of the finest and freshest producers of the year.

Slick percussion on this one, with a spacey lead synth and vocal. This one has been gaining huge reactions on the dance floor! A great, refined disco/house track.
A2: My People
A different vibe on this one, but we loved it so much we couldn't leave it out! A chilled vocal track with gentle percussion and warm keys. A superb track in its own right that will undoubtedly become a secret weapon for warm up and after party sets alike.
B1: Looking In Your Eyes
Back to the house style - synth sounds which are so typical of Volta Cab's productions, as you will come to find out! Again a great groove on the beat and some really tight percussion to bring things alive.
B2: Freak Your Soul
Dreamy house to round up the release, giving a nod towards the old school house styles. Great beat, nice vocal and a really infectious synth line. Nice!!

Soul Motive have always been representative of the current strains of Bristol's ever flourishing tapestry of music scenes so it makes perfect sense that the label would call on the Young Echo collective sooner or later. After some notable releases for fellow Bristol hubs Idle Hands and Punch Drunk, Kahn steps forth with another example of his undoubted talent for making music that spans the shades of the bass music spectrum with the rowdy yet soulful 2 step bump of "Angeles." This is Kahn in smooth mode, demonstrating his prowess at weaving vocals so that they form an integral part of the rhythm. Fellow Punch Drunk acolyte Superisk ensures it's an all Bristol affair with a remix that dampens the soulful nature in favour of something altogether darker.

Anna Lunoe & Friends 'Real Talk' EP is all Australian and all party! On 'Real Talk' Anna teamed up with mysterious Sydney producer Touch Sensitive - who you may remember brought you 'Body Stop' back in 2009 on Future Classic - for what could be THE perfect summer house anthem... pianos, uplifting pianos, vocal stabs, pianos. A tune that you could definitely see rubbing shoulders with classics like 'Strings of Life' and 'Gypsy Woman'. Next up is 'I Met You', Anna's collab with another Sydney producer that's been catching lots of attention from the likes of XLR8R, Electronic Beats and inthemix called Flume. Anna's beautiful vocal work gets Flume's catchy chopped and pitched treatment and is packed with more chunky bass than you've ever imagined. The final track on the EP is an essential DJ tool by one of Australia's earliest pioneers of house and techno DJ HMC. HMC takes all the power of the original 'I Met You' and brings up the pace and kick for some very delicious results. HMC has been making dance music in Adelaide since around '91 and is still rocking, in fact if you're from the new school you might know is other alias Late Nite Tuff Guy.. The Australian born Anna Lunoe has DJed with giants like The Chemical Brothers, Soulwax, Daft Punk and Salt n Pepper, ran cult club parties with her DJ crew Hoops, mixed compilations for Ministry of Sound, given music direction for everyone from Louis Vuiton to Hugo Boss and even nabbed a spot in Sydney magazine's 100 most influential people list. R.K. is the new musical collaboration of Ronnie Turner (Blunted Funk Project) and Kev Beadle (Solar Radio/Southport Weekender).
On this first release the boys have chosen two much loved classic tracks from back in the day and have respectfully extended and re-tweaked them for play to those that know the score.
First up Charles Earland's 1980 classic 'Coming To You Live' gets the R.K. treatment with an extended intro featuring killer brass,
percussion and bassline groove that builds and builds to the hooky vocal drop.
Next up the percussive and horn heavy, orchestrated string laden Salsoul Orchestra disco version of the Earth,
Wind & Fire classic 'Getaway' gets an overhaul extending the track by nearly 3 minutes from the original.
This one is all about the groove and if this doesn't get them going you're dj'ing in the wrong place !!

Holding no limits Hot Creations are back with their next release, Digitaria & Funky Fat's 'Masochist EP' - a funky fusion of all things electronic, from deep house and disco to indie-pop and electro.

Label head Jamie Jones met Digitaria the Brazilian song writing, electronic duo of Daniel Albinati and Daniela Caldellas while touring in Brazil. Digitaria's first album was released in 2006 on Gigolo Records from Berlin, where they also released the smash hit 'Teen Years'. In 2011 they dropped their second album, this time on Brazilian 3Plus Label, Emotion/Simulation. For this next release they have teamed up with fiery trio Funky Fat aka Guilherme Santoro, Thiago Guimaraes and Rafael Cury from Belo Horizonte. Together they explore a collection of groove, funk and down right disco!

Title track 'Masochist' gets to work with electro synth lines riding over the powerful bass and sharp percussions. Oozing with groovy melodies and super funk this is an indie-pop smash hit, with resemblance to fellow Brazilian groups such as CSS.

Taking a much housier turn is Digitaria's 'Paradise Club Mix'. The garage style bassline pumps with rounded bounce and fluid movement while the soothing melodies leave a feeling of euphoria. Haunting synths permeate the outer layers, twisting this dance floor bomb for a darker edge.

Over on the B side 'You Bring Me Down' is the second collaboration from Digitaria and Funky Fat. Soaring synths swarm the mind with grumbling electronic stabs and a true injection of funk leaving the blissful vocals to tell the story.

Rounding off this fresh release is Digitaria's 'Crazy Life'. Intoxicating vocal melodies, spacey synths and rounded keys combine to make this electro dream one that will blow your mind.

Bonar Bradberry is a name you won't forget in a hurry. One of the new breed who marry the snappy energy of house with the weight of disco beats, his productions have recently piqued the interest of Andrew Weatherall among others.

Bradberry's second venture with London label Under The Shade packs a real punch, with full, chugging bass lines driving bright melodies and crisp drums. On UTS35 his two originals are given contrasting remixes from a pair of duos on either side of the Atlantic.

Dropping a clue in the title, "On The Bounce" locks in rigid drums with crunchy low end. Vocal samples duck and dive with dirty acid flecks to consolidate this lolloping tribal groove, perfect for whipping the floor into shape!

Midlands pairing SAS (Below's Subb An and Adam Shelton) roll out a straight up houser and dont mess with the bounce. Tempering the drums slightly and bringing the longing vocals to the fore they drop a forceful bumper.

The mischievous bass of "Guess Who" sets a killer groove, with Bradberry allowing subtle congas to roll around freely. Jazzy samples illuminate while vocal samples add depth and texture.
New Yorkers No Regular Play strip the sheen away from the low end and add a helping of grit to the original drums of "Guess Who". Working a shimmering synth into vocal snippets they drop an assured remix, perfect for outside spaces and lost summer days.

Ajello feature once more on the Demo Disc label. Following on from the storm created from the 'Editainment' album early last year. Heavy as usual with Ajello's special space disco-funk flavour!

Punto De Partida is a disco Latin track, Barkin'Soul and Paprika have worked on back in 2007 and has finally made it on vinyl as the title of Barkin'Soul single.

Recorded in a Queenslander weather board house in Mullumbimby it captures the passion for Latin music that both developed through the years.

Another limited Edtition EP (300 Copies!) After the big success of the first part of Underground Warriors EP, Here's the second part, definitely more dub than the first one, except for Fabio Monesi's track, a very uptempo, energetic track that captures a perfect 90s feel, emphasized by the raw sound of Fabio Monesi's Machines.

In a remarkably short amount of time, Adam Gibbons (Lack Of Afro) has amassed an extensive and varied body of work. From his own recordings, featuring his multi instrumental skills, to producing, DJ-ing and of course remixing tracks by a huge range of different artists.

This is a welcome return from Sheffield-based producer Grievous Angel who has been known for his slew of edits and live remixes - whether it be Grime, Dancehall, House or UK Funky. Having done this for Keysound label-mates Dusk & Blackdown as well as random re-works of productions from artists like Wiley (check 2009's Ice Rick refix under the alias of Bubblez), Grievous Angel has got an eye for recycling existing ideas but is no slouch when it comes to his original productions either.

His new EP on Forefront recordings see's him manifest his love of UK Funky with two cuts that showcase his ability to move dancefloors with crispy drums and the undeniable swing of House and Garage.

Lead track 'Kleer' is built up around grandiose arpeggios over percussive drums that mirror the brutal urgency of UK Funky. Whilst the basslines are militant, the addition of the whirring synths adds an air of smoothness to proceedings and builds a sense of eerie tension around the otherwise stomping effort.
On the flipside is his remix of J Beatz' 'Subwoofer' (previously released on Forefront) oozes tropical vibrations with a tribal-esque beat pattern that ebbs and flows effortlessly and will work as a great tool in club sets. Rhythmically the remix possesses all the swagger of early Cooly G and Roska efforts yet there's an underlying influence of dub as the subtle low-end bassline becomes more prominent as the track progresses.

Ultra-phat re-edits of two classics from one the biggest acts of the
Philly sound. Essential.

Human Woman is a combination of two extraordinary characters. JÛn Atli a.k.a Sexy Lazer & GÌsli Galdur a.k.a Galdur is a former member of the electronic pop band Trabant and has also played a central role in bands like Ghostdigital, Quarashi and various others. Sexy Lazer is known for his roles in various bands. Lately he has been collaborating with Kasper Bj¯rke playing bass and making remixes that make the crowd on dancefloors all around the world scream for more! Like Galdur he's one of Iceland best known DJs and spins at well known clubs internationally.

Straight out of East London, Pacific Rim Dubs mix up deep, bumpin' house with soul and boogie, rude acid with funk and fidget grooves with pure disco. In a mash-up style, but without the comedy beats and not a whiff of irony in sight, Pacific Rim Dubs vol1 takes a selection of infectious snippets from the soul/ boogie vaults and blends them into proper house floor fillers.

A Side: 'On The Raz': a deep, bumping house groove with a formidable disco hook. The secret lovechild born out of the fusion of soulful, jackin' house, minimal tech grooves and lush disco loops.

AA side, track one: 'Ain't My Loved One': If ever there was such a thing as Acid Funk, this is it. A long teasing, squelchy acid intro kicks off into a deeply swung, infectious funk groove, topped with a cut-up soul vocal peeking in and out. Getting massive play from Crazy P/Ron Basejam.

AA side, track two: Already getting play from Tom Middleton, Jimpster and charted by Nic Fanciulli, this one has more cowbells than Kerri Chandler and a relentless fidget feel over a rolling disco groove.

He's already a well established name on the edit scene, especially after his huge Donny Hathaway edit last year. On GAMM he's now droppin' two heavyweight reworks on one of our all-time social ghetto soul tunes "The World Is A Ghetto". Suonho made classy edits of both the original War version but also George Benson's epic jazz-funk version.

To be honest, we can't choose a winner as we love both version equally but we guarantee you'll use both versions.

After the HUGE success of Suonho's 'The Ghetto' 12' last year, we jumped at the opportunity to work together with him again. This is the first 12' from an ongoing project titled 'The Director's Cuts'.
Five hard to find tracks each with deep funky flavour and not originally intended for the dance floor superbly 'reloved', rearranged and given that extra bit of Suonho magic!

Excellent third release on the essential 'Supafrico Records' featuring four absolutely stunning Afro flavoured grooves dug deep from the vaults. First up we have a previously unreleased extended version of 'Hot Black 'N' Sweet' by Nigerian funkster Kio Amachree. Taken from the über-rare 1981 'Ivory' LP, this a slice of pure funk filled afro boogie led by a groovy phat bline, driving horn section and Kio's magnificent Kid Creole-esque vocals. Number two comes in the form of 'Slow Down' from the hugely sought after 1981 'Grill' album by Amas. But 'Slow Down' it doesn't! With a catchy, pulsating drum intro, layers of incredible stabbing piano and damn-right groovy guitar licks, by the time the vocals come in, you're already in a state of Afro-euphoria! On the flip, we have the full 10 minute version of the ultra rare 'Sabi (Get Down)' from Ghanaian master drummer, Okyerema Asante feeding us a funk-riddled piece of undiluted afro groove pie with awesome vocals and tripped out synths Finally, if that wasn't enough, Time Will Tell is a deeply undulating Afro funk disco gem from the 7-piece who were also known as the Lafayette Rock Band. Remastered to the max, this EP is an absolute necessity!

Soulful track with Nicholas written all over it. Cool female vocal and a nice shuffle on the percussion. Synth and bass are trademark Nicholas/NMH style. Back to his best!!

Again, another instantly recognisable Nicholas production, the dude has style! Nice percussion and a hypnotic vocal. Great synth lines and pumping, old school house style flavour to the bass/keys.

B1: All I Got
Really simple but a effective track. Again, a real old school house vibe on this one brought to life by the synth and with a short vocal sample topping things off. Very well executed production.

B2: If You Want
More of a funk vibe going on here. Definite dancefloor hit, that's much deeper than the rest of the record, and it hits the spot! Bass is brilliant, vocal superb - just makes you want to groove!! Hit!

Black belt disco choppers Marvin & Guy board the runaway Let's Get Lost train with two housed up disco edits under their hats. Two very well known tracks get a very unexpected dose of medicine and the prognosis is very good indeed.

When De Niro and Y met Estel Luz, they were already working on a simple melody, as usual, using a sample (this time from an old italian song by Piero Ciampi), who nothing have to share with dubstep stuff. Gold: a smooth and catchy bassline, a sweet garage hint completed by a great vocal by Estel Luz, telling us the story of an upperclass girl that loses all of a sudden her social power and identity, walking straight towards the naked truth, her new life and new skin.
