The second volume of Casa Voyager's compilation gathers the label's regulars OCB and Kosh, as well as two new artists: Polyswitch, coming straight from the shady streets of Casablanca and also known as the moroccan funkmaster, and Jamal, who comes from the moroccan diaspora in Europe and purveyor of post-futuristic electro beats, keeping the dutch-moroccan connection alive.

After having established Deep Inspiration Show Records on a foundation of deep-leaning house music EPs featuring the likes of Viktor Birgiss Freerotation Records/Lagaffe Tales, Marco Nega Altered Moods/Waehlscheibe and Theory Of Movement Dan Piu & Grant, our next move was obvious; to champion an album of instrumental hip-hop and jazz-inspired beats and flavas from Germany. But, honestly, the opportunity to release Lost Souls, the outstanding new project from Roberto Bronco, was too good to miss. Featuring ten soul-warming tracks of chilled, downtempo and supremely laid-back vibes from the experienced Bielefeld artist, mastered deftly as ever by the one and only Sven Weisemann, the question should not be is it deep but rather is it great? Danny Krivit is currently known as one of the music community’s greatest purveyors of top quality disco & house as he continues to perform regularly before sold-out audiences around the world. With his unique ear for what works on the dancefloor he has also become known as “King of the Re-edit.”

Kerri Chandler “Rain” is well-established as one of the defining vocal house productions from Kerri Chandler. With Kerri’s unique singing / scatting vocal performance “Rain” has continued to be a peak hour DJ favorite since its original 1998 release as the B side of his Mood EP on Nervous Records.
Danny masterfully brings those elements that have always received the biggest dancefloor response. The B-side is Danny’s edit of the 2013 remix by another equally well-respected leading talent in the worldwide house music community… namely AtJazz.

“To finally become oneself: that was the lesson, in the 1960-1970s, that European musicians attracted to improvisation had learned from American free-jazz. Following this idea, the musicians of Perception, whilst individually accompanying Mal Waldron, Slide Hampton, Johnny Griffin or Hank Mobley when they played in Paris, decided early on to break free from what was going on across the Atlantic and seek their own authenticity.

Hailing from one of the world’s most famous harbours, Rotterdam, a true multicultural melting-pot, the music by 6-piece band called the Greyheads mirrors the daily life of this busy city. They approach jazz from a hip-hop point of view, or hip-hop from a jazz point of view, always carefully adding a perfect dose of other influences (all the members are heavily influenced by artists like Miles Davis, J Dilla, Herbie Hancock and Robert Glasper) with an exciting, groovy and vibrant tone.

After having self-released their debut EP "GREYHEADS × KYTOPIA" in 2017, they recently finished recording "HOMES", their first full length album.

Led by drummer Nello Biasini, this truly international band of like minded musicians was formed in 2016 and have since been busy creating their own, fresh and unique sound. 'Homes' is a journey through space and time, travelling in opposite but jointed paths that lead to the places we call home. The concept of the record is to carry the listener to experience what every place and time can in any way, represent home, characterized by different atmospheres, sounds, images and sensations.

As the title suggests 'On Flute' shows us how diverse Tenderlonious's musicianship is as he embellishes each song with his signature flute sound. 'Ghana' sets the pace of the record with up-tempo afro beats, complimented by keys, strings, a distinctive lead synth and of course a soaring flute solo. 'Autumn Leaves' follows with a more UK broken-beat flavour, revealing a darker sense of atmosphere. Side A closes with 'Oedo Bushi,' a comparatively stripped back tune, a simple conga rhythm with flute and xylophone solos weaving in and out as if in conversation with each other.

Side B starts strong and steady with 'Song For My Father', an upbeat number fusing funk and disco to create the perfect dance floor filler that builds to a climax with one of Tenderlonious's wild flute solos (one of my personal favourites!). 'In A Sentimental Mood' follows and, as the title suggests, shows the listener how this producer came by his name. Tender flute inflections and sensitive lead synths, backed by quiet whispers make this the perfect accompaniment to an intimate candle lit dinner. The EP finishes with 'Dale's Corner,' another broken feel on this one with delayed Rhodes supported by tasteful flute lines throughout - it leaves the listener feeling uplifted and wanting more.

A Vision Of Panorama continues his synth exploration, expanding his vision towards new synthesizer motifs and dreamy chords on a vast array of late night cosmic g-funk grooves, modern funk and boogie inspired tracks. This time covers a different spectrum of sounds and atmospheres which merge to form a harmonious whole that can stands on territories of accomplished future soul, jazz and funk. Distinctly deeper and visibly more emotive deep house than just a technique of smooth Balearic instrumentation.

Legendary Italian house/deep house DJ and producer Don Carlos based in Varese, North Italy. Active since the late 70s. His productions have mixing house rhythms with afro-american jazz sounds, verging sometime towards disco, sometime towards deep house or electronic soul. There's a similarly warm and hazy feel to second cut "Analog Express", where a nagging bassline and chillin' beats come wrapped in sunrise-ready electronics, toasty chords and more cut-up old school jazzy house. Throw in some refreshingly positive synthesizer flourishes of the kind once found in Italo-house records and you've got another tried-and-tested winner. Elegant, well produced classic deep house with sensual jazzy and smooth synth elements that sound really good on any equipment. All of the tracks on this EP are quality for anyone into deep house and quality club music in general.

22a label founder, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tenderlonious continues to evolve away from his recent jazz projects and delve further into the world of house and electronic beats.
This is his most club orientated release to date, yet he still manages to capture the essence of his live instrumentation. Detroit techno via Woking and South London!

Chillum Trio started out as a collective of like-minded musicians in 2002, however, after releasing an album together (which was supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier) the project slowly become the solo act of founding recording producer, Geza Szekeres.
At that time he discovered West-African music, latin jazz and the universe of soul and funk, these new directions have been shaping his musical evolution ever since.

In 2014 he turned out as one of the winners of Gilles Peterson's Havana Cultura remix contest that gave him the opportunity to travel to Havana and record music with the creme of the Cuban jazz scene.
One of his songs recorded in this session got released on Brownswood Recordings compilations Havana Cultura Mix and Havana Cultura Anthology.

In 1989, Steve Kirby and Kevin Finch recorded the 4AM project which they pressed privately on vinyl, limited to 300 copies which sold out quickly to friends and family in the UK upon the albums release. The balearic master piece is a wild and funky 40 minute travel through home made, british synth-pop, electro-jazz, spacey computer funk and proto house cuts with AOR-y vocals put together in the Susurreal studio by Steve Kirby and Kevin Finch in 1989.

Following from Deetron's accomplished entry in to the DJ-Kicks mix series, !K7 are now serving up one of the original singles from it. Produced by the Swiss artist and featuring soul futurist Steve Spacek, it comes with the original and three vital versions. Entitled 'Chose Me', the single is six tender minutes of musical electronic soul. Warm and supple bass, twinkling keys and smeared chords form the atmosphere as Spacek delivers a dreamy and heartfelt vocal up top. It's a track to get the spine tingling, while the Instrumental allows the celestial keys to ring out into a night sky as the main focal point. On the Jupiter Version, the drums are more loose and broken up, lending a spaced out vibe that will be perfect on outdoor terraces as the weather warms up. Jumbled percussion tumbles next to the chords as the vocal soars. A Jupiter Instrumental closes out this cosmic and cultured house EP.

Singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Desmond Coke's supremely rare, privately pressed, lo-fi, synth-soul fusion, Let's Chase The Sun is represented here in edited form. Painstakingly remastered from the original tapes, this self taught pianist, drummer and sax player condensed his musical experiences and dreams in to an opus on love and togetherness.

Desmond Coke alias 'Fatfingers' - named by fellow musicians due to improvisation and interpretation skills - began playing keyboards by ear at 15 and went on to a music career playing with the likes of Alton Ellis, Prince Fari, Barrington Levy, Dillinger, Don Cherry and Shara Nelson, as well as a gamut of the On-U Sound label's projects, including Creation Rebel, Dub Syndicate, Singers & Players and Mark Stewart + Maffia.

With an interest in reggae, dub, jazz, soul, meringue, gospel and garage, his sole album was a true fusion to create a brand new sound. Composed, arranged and produced by Coke, he worked with an array of seasoned musicians, including his own sisters Winifred (percussion / vocals) and Paulette Coke (percussion / DX-7 & M1 synthesisers).

Pressed on his own Saterlite Entertainments in 1989, Coke describes the album's purpose, "to get the message across to have focus, ambition, to dream and 'chase the sun'. That relationships are important, 'I need somebody' and naturally the chemistry is 'you and me'. Great relationships are about friendships and that it's ok to 'mesmerise a friend'. The most natural thing is to enjoy each other's company and to 'make a love child'. These good intentions and meanings, where love is the key." Some thirty years later Desmond's thoughts are as resonant today as then - Let's Chase The Sun.

The next release have a fusion with two great artists. "Mateo Dufour" join the keyboards and "Bs As deep" gives rhythm, percussions and bass. We believe that this mix will create an exquisite house music with late 90´s dyes.

London based Prescription Pricing Authority returns to GAMM with another 7" monster.

Dean Zepherin is truly a producer who has managed to find his lane and appeal.
Born and raised in London - a suitably eclectic city for a man of his musical persuasion - he is renowned for his consistently genre-pushing productions.
In other words, a perfect match for Local Talk, a label not afraid to go beyond the classic 4/4 sound and explore different styles within house music.

Opening track Blue Moon is an organic, warm and enveloping chunk of deep house bliss and there's no doubt that Dean loves his house served with with plenty of horns.
Next up is Flying High, a jazzy uptempo house cut smothered in expansive percussions, trading organ and trumpet solos over elastic synth lines.

Fresh of their most busy year actively djing in Milan and across Europe, Ayce Bio, Turenne and Borbo are ready to launch a new Ep: One track each + a Remix by Bologna's finest producer and vinyl collector DJ Rou.

Funclab records runs a monthly show on Rocket Radio and a club night at Apollo club, inviting al- ways different dj's and producers to share the decks with them, among others they played with San Proper, Boo Williams, Eclair Fifi and Pangea.

After the first release 'House al dente', they spent one month during the summer touring with a van around Europe to promote the vinyl, going to their favourite radios and vinyl stores to bring it personally, ending at Barrakud festival in Croatia in front of two thousand people with a dj set and set design.

The collective is the real strength behind the newborn record label, collaborating with a lot of local producers they're always working on new things, in the next few months they are going to release also a various and other two eps.

Henrik Schwarz & Alma Quartet present CCMYK, a new album on Henrik's own label Between Buttons. Produced in collaboration with the Alma String Quartet, it's a free conversation between classical and electronic music, carefully transformed into a set of astonishing tracks, ready for club or concert hall. Though based on free improvisations between Laptop and String Instruments, CCMYK is not a record of bumbling jams. Rather, it's a record of startling density, control and emotional complexity. This is the sound of open conversation between piercing intellects, taking their individual instruments and musical backgrounds to create a new universe of sound. The vinyl comes in a unique, handmade, limited 4 colour CMYK pressing. Every record is unique! Black is available as well.

On their latest release, The Magic Movement presents a concept EP by Luca Musto, in which he reflects on the story of his provenance.

Dipped in blues and marinated in Jazz, this release is a diverse journey in all the ways: 'Once Upon A Grind' kicks off with a reflection of his father's immigration from Italy to Germany.
The strong groove of this moody gem reveals Luca's roots in Hip Hop, making heads nod without any trouble. Next up is 'Parabel', a hypnotic slow-house jam, with rich textures and alluring vocals which tells of new adventures on the road.

'Let Me Down' opens the B side with dense soundscapes, sprinkled with dreamy synths and strings, while Iorie closes the curtain with a dubby and stripped down remix of the track on B2. "Be Water he said, this state is tremendous."

Ruhrmann & Rockwell’s debut 12" EP marks the inaugural release for Amikron Records, a colognian imprint established together by the friends of 'Chicago Am Rhein' and 'Ruhrmann & Rockwell' for modern dancefloor records of all kind.

Kicking things off on the a-side with a midtempo boogie / disco stomper, "Cape York '84" is serving you feel-good summer vibes followed by "Do Not Rush" slowing it down to keep you in a cool jazzy mood. Gruppo Sound can be a really familiar reference for Italian Library freaks but also a huge mystery. It mustn’t be conceived as a unique musical entity but, as a name that was used when Roman day-job musicians worked together for Flipper Music label, one of the references for Italian library and, generally, sonorizations. The results were often impressive and multicolored: spacing from abstract spacey noises to the finest Italo Boogie.

Two of the gentlemen that were involved in the hustle were the saxophonist Paolo Russo and the keyboardist/engineer Stefano Galante (one of the smoothest synths of Italo Disco, known among diggers for his contribution to projects like Asso, High Resolution and Blackway).Their most significant work was the “Dreams For Sax” LP under, of course, the moniker “Gruppo Sound”.

According to Paulo Russo: “For what I remember, the tracks from Dreams For Sax were mainly used for sonorizing worldwide shopping malls. I still receive royalties that come from all over the world: from Kenya to Singapore”. The Lp, produced in 1987 (but it sounds as it was produced in the early 80’s), is mainly an easy listening record, with the particularity of featuring two monster Boogie tracks: “Dance Power” and “Walking On Air”.

Dualismo Sound, with the courtesy of Flipper Music, is excited to announce the reissue of two of the most sought-after Italo Library Boogie joints. Restored from the original ¼” master tapes and pressed on a loud 12″ with a killer artwork by Riccardo Corda.

Vinyl LP (incl. DL-Code) from an artist in their seventies, you probably wouldn't expect to hear an album like this.
But Brazilian drumming legend Ivan 'Mamão' Conti has been experimenting and innovating for the last half a century.

Dynamic composer Neil Cowley is set to release 'Spacebound Tapes' a four track EP featuring remixes of his Trio's 'Spacebound Apes' album ("A miss- this-at-your-peril release" Drowned In Sound 9/10) by Rival Consoles, Throwing Snow, Christian Löffler and Vessels

'Spacebound Apes' was written by Cowley for his trio and long-time bandmates drummer Evan Jenkins and bassist Rex Horan, with contributions from Brian Eno collaborator Leo Abrahams on guitars and FX. A bold exercise in atmosphere and emotion, the album was woven together with some of the most breathtaking, impassioned music that Neil has created. Originally inspired by Arthur C Clarke's 1956 sci-fi book 'The City and the Stars' the album was recorded at Cooper Hall, a studio and cinema set deep in the Somerset countryside with Stanley Kubrick's '2001 A Space Odyssey' running on permanent rotation.

The sci-fi aesthetic is firmly grasped by the four remixers, echoing the theme in their own reinterpretations. The reimagined tracks retain the inventiveness of the originals while exploring progressive but considerate paths. In his version of 'Weightless', Erased Tapes signed Rival Consoles feeds off of the electronic songwriter's critically lauded humanised techno, while rising German musician Christian Löffler brings new dimensions of space and scale to 'Death To Amygdala'. Houndstooth's Throwing Snow delights in deconstructing 'Duty To The Last' with pulsing energy and Vessels' take on 'Echo Nebula' applies machinic facets to the delicate sounds of the original.

On the A side Priku delivers 'Outcast' a sleek cut of micro house, complete with jazzy stabs and a wonky bassline. A2 is produced by Mau 'Time Modulation', a very versatile track that will work at any point of the night or morning - with it's irresistible intergalactic electro bassline and pleasing synth notes.

On the flip side caLLY delivers two beautiful atmospheric cuts of minimal techno perfection, floating yet driving. Both tracks were on heavy rotation during Sunwaves Festival - played by Raresh amongst the other usual suspects.

Cuthead got known to the wider public via his releases on Uncanny Valley but his roots reach way back before the label's start. There was a time when Cuthead and his brothers from another mother threw wild parties at abandoned industrial locations or in the woods around Dresden. The crew, which was known as Kunst:stoff Breakz, also established a label where Cuthead released two albums and one EP as free downloads between 2006 and 2010. Over the years the calls for vinyl versions of those early joints were getting louder and so Uncanny Valley decided to give the best tracks from that era a new life on physical sound carriers and start the ''Total Sellout''. Through refinement and rearrangement 51 tracks were boiled down to a selection of 18 and ended up as an album full of catchy bass lines, heavy beats and sampling excesses. Among the tracks are party starters like the strings-infiltrated ''Scissorhands'', ''The Poncho'' or the ever devastating ''Iron Lung'' which still kicks like Dubstep has never faded. Since Cuthead has always been heavily influenced by Rap music, there are of course lots of great Hip Hop beats on ''Total Sellout''. Either in the form of funky sample studies like ''Painquilizer'' and ''VibraSkit'' or in true fashion with Raps by crew member Alibi on ''Hidden Track''. Also included on the album are ''Rock My Soul'' and ''All Night Long'', some early examples of Cuthead's knack for well tempered and super catchy House tracks, while the double-bass driven ''Rythmus '78'' shows another jazzy side of him. Once again, the artwork was conceived and designed by Till Hohmann who already did a brilliant job on last year's ''Everlasting Sunday''.

In our extremely talented artist pool we have the luxury of being able to work with local Icelandic talent and for our 6th instalment in the LAGAFFE series we managed cook up a long awaited collaboration with a close friend and producer intr0beatz.

Intr0beatz has been known in the local music scene for quite some time and became one of the most iconic hip hop producers in Iceland with the group Forgotten Lores. After the scene evolved and took changes intr0beatz reinvented himself as a house music producer.

With Intr0beatz you never go wrong. A long time hip-hop producer went housey on us, and he got the groove. House and old school hip-hop have a lot in common—sampling and chopping old disco/soul tracks is the foundation of both. So this came naturally for him.

The four-tracker includes the tracks Dumpin (A1), Mystery Ride (A2), Tapas (B1) and Desco (B2).

Gerardo Frisina goes back to the roots of the sound which has made him famous worldwide: the latin sound of classics like 'Descarga' or 'The Latin Kick' (both previously released on Schema).

'Moderno Primitivo' is an EP about the encounter of the ancient Afro-cuban tradition (the core of Frisina's artistic DNA) with a refined electronic taste. This component enriches drums and percussions and gives more edge to the whole production with details like pads and effects.
In 'Moderno Primitivo' the latin ensemble headed by Frisina takes us into a jam session where percussions, piano and trombone play happily.
The 'Latin House Mix' is a club version where the rhythmic element and the groove take control of the mix. The melody is broken and a Hammond plays over a ostinato bass. The flavour is definetely tribal.
Cogele El Ritmo' is a trip into Frisina's latin world. Slower than 'Moderno Primitivo', still has a solid hook to the dancefloor and is a triumph of joy and colour.

Sammy Bananas, known mainly for his work on A-Trak's groundbreaking NYC label Fool's Gold flexes his versatility offering up 3 flavors of piano based, club ready dance tracks on his debut EP for Bastard Jazz, the "Piananana EP". The signature funky and quirky style which he developed over a decade of releases is still audible, but the material here is geared more towards foggy late night basements. "Non-Stop" is built around hypnotic, syncopated stabs which slowly grow into a bass heavy stomper, while "Thrilla" meets somewhere between Bmore and Hardcore while still staying in the pocket. "Finesse" is a hauntingly soulful groove with a snaking analog bass line and Parisian producer Hugo LX, fresh off an EP with DJ Spinna, rounds out the release with a reserved and enticing take on "Non-Stop".

Originally founded by KiSk back in 2009 - Apparel Music set out to offer something truly singular in focusing their musical output predominately on Jazz whilst venturing into its integration across the landscape of Electronic Music at the time.With a zealous release schedule, they racked up a healthy collection of EPs between 2010 - 2015 from artists such as Delano Smith, SCSI-9, Sarp Yilmaz and the label owner himself amongst many others. Now - after a year-long hiatus, the label makes a return with a slick 4-track VA that fans both old and new will relish. The output for Bixi will be home to more sample & house-oriented tracks while Lokke will continue to lean more towards the downtempo and jazzy end of the spectrum.

Best known for his smooth 7' releases on Amsterdam's INI Movement, Berlin's Beatbude and Cologne/Berlin's Laut & Luise, this time the German producer takes us on a warm and tropical excursion for his first 12' release. 'Aquarius' instantly brings us Southward with a groovy rhythm, bird calls and a fluttering flute that transport you beachside. Rounding out the A side is 'Bicho De Pé' a deeper number with a brooding melody, thundering bass and textured atmospheres.

On the flip, 'Cosmic Water' is the most dancefloor friendly excursion with swelling synths, a hard hitting low end and a combination of both expertly sampled and finely performed parts. Continuing the trip into the tropics is 'Ryu Santos' with its deep jungle-inspired leanings and percussive workout. Closing out the record is 'Bunga Bunga', a sensual cut to close your eyes and get lost in.

The Aquarius EP is a medley of deft live instrumentation such as Rhodes keys, bass and percussion all mixed in with an adept use of samples. Additional percussion performed by Florian König. Artwork for the release is once again expertly curated by 3D and visual artist Maks Pihs, perfectly matching the theme of the release.

"The tracks on the record were inspired by a journey to Barrington Tops, a national park in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. The music itself has a physical link to this area through the field recordings present in the songs and is also imbued with with many vague and wistful memories of the summer trip.
Sitting Atop Mount Allen as the sun rose over the distant hill tops, we were struck by the cyclical beauty of nature.
We were visitors in this place, where everything would continue as it was whether we were there to see it or not.
It is this feeling that perhaps influenced us the most in the writing of the record. It infuses organic with electronics, whilst also mimicking the concurrent sense of happiness and melancholy that is often associated with experiences of nature."

'Ladies Well' leads with plucked strings, airy ethereal chords, hypnotic field recordings at its core whilst organic percussion, jazzy piano lines and warm subs ebb and flow within.
'Heatherbrae' follows next, retaining a similarly dreamy aesthetic with swirling atmospherics, twinkling keys and jangling strings while tipping the rhythmic focus over to bumpy, broken, jazz-tinged drums.
Opening the flip side is 'Mount Allyn' which edges into a more psychedelic realms with billowing vocal textures, murky bass tones, shuffled drums and squelching 303 licks ahead of closing track 'Elegy For Nick's Car', which - as the name would suggest - employs a cinematic, orchestral feel with dynamic evolutions of strings, percussion and piano lines throughout.

Mission is another track taken from their second album 'Unity' released on Blue Note in 2017.
This time the remix torch is passed from Ron Trent to Jaxx Madicine. The Milanese trio remix has a feel of confidence and charge which allows it an accessibility and artistic integrity that shines through immediately, it takes you to another place.

Berlin-based producer and DJ Kevin Over has been on the rise over the past few years with a steady stream of output on the likes of Gerd's 4Lux, Dj Steaw's House Puff and of course Madhouse where he returns to here following last years 'Where To Begin' EP.

The original mix of 'Penthouse Boogie' opens with jangling metallic percussion, thunderous sub tones and dusty drums driving the groove whilst an amalgamation of choppy chords and stabs ebb and flow amongst hypnotic pads, hooky vocals and jazzy marimba tones.

Seven Davis Jr's remix of 'Penthouse Boogie' follows, taking a more raw and stripped-back approach with a gritty drum groove, skippy hats at the forefront whilst easing in the original's vocal chant, resonant pad swells, wandering marimba tones and a fresh, bumpy bass line.

Title-track 'Lavender' then rounds out the package on a Garage tip with swinging broken drums, hooky vocal phrases, murky bass tones and organ stabs.

In another tight and consistent projection, Paxton Fettel actualizes his assertion for independence, eclecticism and voodoo - with a collection of delightful enchanting vibes.

Familiarly neat and energetic, house beats and crystal-clear chords accord to accompany the melodic dawdling, while insatiable and unbelievably facetious talkative babblings of all kinds stretch out into organic gliding laces.

Brandon Knocke's knack for Memphis design funk and skymall fusion hits an apex here, flexing a full spectrum of rhythmic reveries: fluid, jazzy, joyous, sensous. Song to song and side to side Midnight flaunts a panoramic rooftop view of leather interiors, fern-accented foyers, and supreme motion software. Midnight is 12 AM, 12 inches of bump 'n' bounce 'n' body euphoria, music for low lit silhouettes unified in emotional response. Somewhere a clock strikes, a ball drops, and day turns to dawn.

Whether he is Sample Jesus, MPC-Man or just Cuthead from the block, the Dresden based artist is here to help you discovering your body's potentials. With his latest EP "Can't You See" for Uncanny Valley he proves himself once again as a master in producing music that is both punchy and playful. You might not know how it feels to be on the moon but it's safe to say that "Lunar Lander" is an astral experience and a programmatic intro for the EP with heavy bass work and Trap Hi-Hats from space. "Can't You See" and "Sweet" is Cuthead to the core. Warm samples are combined with hard-hitting drum work and bass lines to remember. The results are House inspired dance floor stompers which you won't be able to resist. While "Kimono" and "Too Dark To See Tomorrow" shows off his Hip-Hop roots in typical head-nodding fashion, "Tranquility Base" is another kind of thing. Still based deeply in Hip-Hop, the track establishes a much gloomier feel with its meandering synths. Those of you that long for life-affirming House music will be very pleased with "Mount Platti". And on "Schlagzeug faellt die Treppe runter" various sharp synths und percussions are having a party that is as infectious as it's frisky.

Scissor and Thread regular Black Light Smoke returns to the Brooklyn label run by Francis Harris for a mini LP of raw, atmospheric house. The alias of Jordan Lieb, Emmy Award winning composer/producer/musician, Black Light Smoke drops City Life - six tracks of affecting, deep vibes.
'In Gold' is rich in analog warmth, a bubbling deep house roller that echoes some of the New York, Detroit and Chicago greats. Title track 'City Life' is a stripped down rhythm track, populated with stabs, melodic flourishes, and beautifully arranged pads - as well as a killer vocal. 'Make My Piece' is built around a vocal hook and roughneck drum track, before opening up with crunchy percussion and a sick bassline. Next one is 'Up In This', starting on a dreamy tip, but exploding into life with Lieb's signature feel for propulsive rhythms and deep, warm tones. 'Without You' is a tougher proposition, using heavy compression and distortion to texture the track, while the digital bonus track 'Every Beat (No Regrets)' is a fitting end to the release - a woozy, after-hours come down vibe, wrapping up this journey.

Moonshoe set their sights south of the border, shining a light on a collaboration between two vanguards of the Melbourne underground - Ziggy of 30/70 and Analogue Attic alumni Matthew Hayes. This EP bridges both their sounds while retaining a flavour all of its own, and Hayes' spacious production affords their ideas room to breathe. The result combines disparate influences from jazz, ambient techno, house music, and broken beat to form a musical vernacular that feels singular to these two.
