House Vinyl New Releases - News

Session Victim can do no wrong in our eyes. Not only do they run an absolutely brilliant vinyl-only label known as Retreatwith the help of fellow Berliner Quarion. Not only do they play an amazing live set which has seen recent fans at London's Corsica Studios get so worked up they started crowd-surfing. Not only were they responsible for last years' underground hit Good Intentions which is so good it had Move D in tears as he closed a festival set with it last summer. On top of all this they're the nicest and most focused couple of chaps you ever did meet. In short, we're very proud and happy to be presenting their debut LP The Haunted House Of House on our humble label. As with our last LP from the mighty 6th Borough Project, we have made the LP available as both a beautifully packaged triple pack vinyl as well as CD.

Opening track Dark Sienna sets the mood and serves as a good taster of what you can expect from their highly accomplished debut. We're talking looped up deep-disco territory here with a lovely mid-tempo rolling groove driven along by open hats and a square wave bassline, lush string sections and dubbed vocal hits all adding heat to the mix.

Zoinks continues the theme with the perfect balance of organic drums, dusty stabs and a healthy dose of solid gold machine-funk. Push Comes To Shove follows, upping the pace slightly and resulting in one of the more obvious floor friendly cuts (or should i say as obvious as it gets with Session Victim!).

Next up is the more laid back yet still seriously head-nodding vibe of Alpine Glow on which the SV boys even manage to make a cut-up Mark King-esque slap bass sample sound good! Haunted House dives straight in next with an uptempo jam featuring a heavy disco groove and compressed pads laced with subtle arpeggiating acid lines. Some Balearic vibes are offered up next as things continue with Cow Palace and Bison until we're hit with a special new LP version of Good Intentions, the original having been only available on vinyl so far.

Time to shake things up a bit next with a definite highlight of the LP - Light Scent of Decay. As the acronym of the title suggests we are heading straight into psychedelic territory with this beautiful 9 minute and 40 second long live jam drawing us deep into its pleasantly off-kilter confines. Next the boys drop it down a bit for Fine, which sees the duo opt for some headnodding hip hop vibes. And finally we have the spellbinding Flying Visit to leave us on a total high.

Coming on like some long-lost Nightmares On Wax classic, we are treated to a gentle Balearic beauty which should leave you in no doubt that you're in capable hands with Session Victim at the helm.

After more than a decade of deep, expansive productions on labels such as Detroit Underground and CPU, Annie Hall arrives on MUSAR for a record typically rich in texture and understated grooves.

Opening track 'Linium' immediately seduces listeners with a complex drum pattern that somehow feels spacious, subtly twisting and turning its way around Hall's analogue world. Dutch artist Mattheis maintains this understated feel but adds a soft, compelling kick in response on his suspenseful remix of 'Lavandula'. The original, moodier version of this cut the follows to open the B side, gradually erupting around a killer distorted bassline. The EP continues to hit a more urgent note with the tense machinations of 'Silene', where dense layers of stuttering, frenetic drums interweave with Hall's trademark, melancholy keys. The record concludes on a weightless, transcendent note with 'Santolina', taking each visceral element featured thus far and slowing each down, with affecting results.

Indebted to vintage electro and IDM, Hall's music is no throwback, always looking forward and moving dancefloors in the most unexpected ways.

SJ Tequilla continues to build on his small but well formed discography with a new EP on Bright Sounds. His three originals come backed with a remix from cult producer SW. SJ Tequilla has released on his own Shot Of T imprint and DJ Fett Burger s Freakout Cult since debuting in 2017. The Japanese born, Berlin based artist is also close to Sex Tags Mania and regularly holds it down at OHM Club as well as for busking on his live, vintage hardware jams around the streets of Kreuzberg.
The opener is a six minute house bumper with a classic lead acid line and plenty of Detroit pads. The pinging analogue drums are lively and elastic while more thoughtful keys are draped over the top. SUED man SW. steps up to remix and brings a mixture of pad laced serenity old school rave basslines to his hard hitting drums. The B1 is another rugged mix of live sounding drums, acid snuggles and rueful keys while ambient synths stretch off to infinity. Last but not least, B2 sinks into a blissed out dub house vibe, rolling deep and smooth and showing off Tequilla s ability to cook up far sighted synths that have real emotion. This is an EP well school in traditionalism but that also brings some fresh skills and ideas to the grooves.

SolarOneMusic introduces their new "Techno City Series". Focused on citys around the world, which have given their contribution to the electronic music scene, the series will start with the leading Motor City Detroit. The first release will be from the mysterious Detroit underground collective Scan 7. After releases for Underground Resistance, Tresor, Derrick May's Transmat and their own Label Cratesavers the collective now debuts on SolarOneMusic. The release comes with 3 funky dance floor classics and one hypnotic killer remix by The Exaltics.

Two great friends, and exciting young talents, reunite for their second outing on Real Tone. The transatlantic partnership between Leeds-born Burnski and New York's M A N I K has already produced one special creation dancefloor smash You Know What It's Like. Full of funk and relentless energy, the track was a great fusion of the contemporary styles of two well-respected producers. It also became one of Real Tone's most charted releases in 2012 and held up a prime position in the Beatport Top 10. Now they've teamed up once again to produce the follow-up, Next To Me. Playing out like an action-packed sequel, Next To Me once again oozes funk from every pore, working off a steady bassline, solid 4x4 beats and vibrant synth work. Though the overall feeling is a little more laid back than You Know What It's Like, just like its predecesssor, it features vocals provided by M A N I K himself who often utilises his voice in his music - from simply humming basslines to straight-up singing. Rising French star Manoo (who has releases on Basenotic, Deeply Rooted House and Buzzin' Fly) steps in on remix duties and flips the track completely on its head. The man whose motto is, 'Dance or die!' transforms the funk-infused dancefloor number into an ethereal deep house track, minus the vocal. Smooth chords and a retro organ bassline keep it sultry, with Manoo's version basically a completelynew track - together with the original it makes for an essential addition to any discerning DJ's collection. It goes without saying that, individually and as a combined team, Burnski and M A N I K are a force to be reckoned with, as they've proven with both infallible Real Tone EPs. Detroit Techno Records celebrate 10 years of being a digital label by buying their first vinyl record. The record entitled "The First EP" includes classic DTR along with new unheard music from the breakout duo Folson & Tate. This EP spans 10 year of classic Detroit techno music. Side A has the first release "2 Sisters" from the upcoming full album release from Body Mechanic entitled "Infidelity". 2 Sisters is a funky up tempo cut that sets the tone of the album which has an old-school Prince vibe to it. The second track on the A side is the DTR classic "Soul" from Detroit unknown "Lego Tha Cook" this track has been played by some of the hottest DJs in the scene Dave Clark, Juan Atkins and in rotation on Deep Space Radio, now it's available for the first time on vinyl. The B side starts off with a Body Mechanic electro track "Jit The Best" that was previously released on his digital release "I Remember Dancing". This track pays respect to the Detroit Jit style of dancing and gives homage to some of the dance crews that made the dance famous. The last track "Flight 2 Berlin" is a new track with new digital EP from the breakout duo Folson & Tate who made waves with their version of the "Black Panther Theme" and have already made a name for themselves in the remix game. To date Folson & Tate have done remixes for Orlando Voorn on the Rennie Foster imprint RF, Josh Garrets Subspec label & Finn Audio. Folson & Tate also have a track "Is It Because I'm Black" on the Rick Wilhite release " Godson IV" on Mahogani Music.

Roots For Bloom hit release number eleven with another newcomer to the label. Mara Lakour deliver straight up house grooves from France to the UK based label. Clark St is the big hotter here with powerful stabs and synth lines and that ever present prominent low end that Roots For Bloom is becoming known for. The whole EP carries a 90's twang but brought very much up to date in great style.

Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson has revived his underground house moniker E-Dancer with 'Into the Future,' a rolling futuristic nod to the sound of Detroit Techno. Swirling retro-future synths, echoed out claps and solid bass line that just screams Detroit. The track's gritty yet groovy sentiment is a perfect continuation of the very first E-Dancer album Heavenly, released in 1998.

Hyperion became a cult hit in the underground scene during the last two years. LOYOTO are the East-Berlin born Eva Be and Cle from the western part of the formerly dived city. Both started their DJ and producer career almost at the same time in the heart of the then developing scene, the very center of Berlin, just after the wall came down. Originally rooted in very different styles of music, they encountered for the first time DJing together in 2011, finding common ground in more than just music - a gig, that should lead to more: They decided to combine their talents and knowledge and build a studio together. Here, and during legendary back2back DJ sets, they finally united their different musical backgrounds - dub/reggae and underground house music - and defined their very own sound.

Marking Igor's debut release, he carefully reimagines and reworks two latin jazz / música popular brasileira classics into modern dance anthems. In the autumn of 2009, a chance encounter at an underground party in the city of Leiden (NL) offered us a very first glimpse of the astonishing and talented DJ that is Mark Du Mosch.
On numerous occasions ever since, Mark surprised us with his adventurous trackselection, his raw and energetic mixing technique and the way he constantly pushes himself to cross the borders of genres while always maintaining his trademark style. It's fair to say that no other DJ has left such an overwhelming impression on us as Mark did.

Whether or not Du Mosch is as good a producer as he is a DJ is for you to decide. But on this forthcoming double pack he sure demonstrates the same diversity and liveliness as he does in his DJ-sets!
