Future Times is proud to present killer new music from Vancouver's Mood Hut crew....TIP!
House Of Doors delivers "Bicameral Mind," an evocative excursion between nightclub shade and inner-visions, featured here in a collaborative style with Maxmillion Dunbar on the mixdown. Drums jack metallic like hammers and bump like pillows around the lush keys. The B-side belongs to Kinetic Electronix, and their cut "Astral Kin" which works up a sweat right away with full disco classico production before storming off in a puff of steamy Murk'd-out groove. Both artists are also part of Aquarian Foundation and the Mood Hut extended fam

Oskar Offermann and his frequent collaborator and label mate Edward are two of the brightest rising stars in contemporary deep house music.
As head of the esteemed WHITE imprint, Offermann has an envious catalog spread across his own label, Aim, and Japan's storied Mule Musiq; Edward has mostly confined his releases to WHITE apart from a single drop on the mysterious Giegling, and some outstanding remixes on other powerhouse labels. Since their appearance in 2007, the pair of Berliners has only one collaboration record between them in spite of a close association, large individual discographies, and frequent pairings behind the decks. It is thus with great ceremony that THEMA announces their North American vinyl debut with the four-track EP, Verses.
We've been following Oskar and Edward for quite some time now, and even given our familiarity with their music, the ominous, shadowy chug of the intro track 'What Have We Become', is a contrast to the studied, Smallville-esque deep house that they're better known for. Aside from a lonely keyboard melody and an occasionally- comprehensible monologue low in the mix, the throbbing bass and druggy feel of the opener are left remarkably alone for the duration. 'Paranoid' is similarly darkened,a slowed-down, droning house piece that begins in unnerving, acidic ambience and steadily brightens by its end as more traditional deep house melody enters in the pads. Two contrasting versions of 'Sunrise' fill the second side: the first an old-school leaning minimal acid track, and the second an 'Underwater Dub' that's unexpectedly the most extroverted of the four. The repeating sequence of the original version is echoed in a high-pitched acid line that slowly changes timbre over the duration, with the only major shift occurring at the midpoint with the addition of a single-syllable vocal sample. It's heady stuff best suited for deep afterhours but unashamedly tailored for the floor. Centering itself around crunchy, slowly jacking percussion, the haunting acid takes center stage for the dub mix, and again vocal samples provide a subtle impetus and change while the circling drums power to the end.
Surely this is music whose origins are found in unending Berlin nights, but we at THEMA are proud to bring it across the Atlantic for new ears. Here or there, Oskar and Edward's talents stand unquestioned and their reputations entirely earned.

King Street Sounds and Dope Jams team up again in re-releasing more fine jewels from NYC's heyday, all featured on the latter's celebrated 2012 "Classic House Grooves" offering. First up is DJ Romain's "All Day, All Night," a jubilant, vocal-sample laden masterpiece that's an excellent example of mid-1990's cut-up and spliced deep house craftsmanship at its best. Rounding things off are a couple of vocals from the NY garage fold: the breathtaking and silky-smooth precision of Eric Kupper's remix of "What Do I Gotta Do" by Urban Soul, and Bassmental's "It's The Music," a classic statement of purpose conjured by the collaborative genius of Kerri Chandler and Yahya McDougald. Essential and immortal dance music reissued for generations old and new.

The ultimate purist. An enduring visionary. Ian Pooley shares the next part of his legacy with his fifth album, 'What I Do', after a four year hiatus. Ian Pooley is a rarity. Twenty years into his professional career, he is regarded as both a cult underground DJ and established mainstream producer. As one of the only artists that walk the path between the two, his latest work builds on his past and delivers a polished body of work that sounds both classic and fresh. In the past Pooley has scoured influences from around the globe - Detroit, Chicago, Brazil, playing with funk with an emphasis on the groove. Over the course of fifteen tracks, 'What I Do' walks a similarly tactile path, refreshing the listener on Pooley's full-bodied and engaging approach but realigning his signature sound. "The new album is more raw. I produced a lot of the tracks in the old school way, how I used to work in the nineties. All the sounds were created and programmed on analog gear," Ian Pooley explains.

In the ever-expanding universe of deep house, Julius Steinhoff is far from being a stranger. Half of the dynamic duo Smallpeople, founder and one of the steersmen behind Hamburg's Smallville empire (record store/ label/ party curator around the globe) as well as a producer and DJ in his own right, Steinhoff is closely associated with a group of like-minded people that unite fresh ideas and individualism with a certain consciousness of tradition. That 'Flocking Behaviour' is well embodied in Steinhoff's debut album by the same name. After a string of 12-inches for the likes of Live at Robert Johnson, Geography or his own-brand Smallville and the very well-received Smallpeople long-player 'Salty Days", Julius Steinhoff makes a submission that is all his. Rooted in the elegiac variety of the big three (New York, Chicago & Detroit) and a romantic concept of house music that is at times utopian, the album gathers eight tracks that evoke late nights, hazy mornings and walks on thin air. But 'Flocking Behaviour' is by no means anachronistic: Tracks like 'Under A Waterfall' could be made in just the same manner by a puerile Baby Ford in 1989 as they represent a swaying dance floor in 2014. 'Treehouse' or the title track 'Flocking Behaviour' are experiences that make you feel like meeting new people who instantly greet you like old friends. With someone that works and lives in the here and now, Steinhoff seemingly has no interest in revisionism, complains or antagonism, his approach is welcoming and caring, embracing and mesmerizing. Along the way, his musical apparatus never makes use of cheap tricks or antique clichés.

Circling Sydney as the most prodigious producers in their adopted home, Tuff Sherm (Perth-born Eugene Hector / Dro Carey) and Cassius Select (Canada's Lavurn Lee / Guerre) guise-up for a split 12 that follows Dro's seven-date debut European tour, and Cassius' breakout ONE EP on Gardland's Hunter Gatherer imprint. Returning home after a string of releases via Merok, RAMP, Opal Tapes and The Trilogy Tapes, Tuff Sherm shifts the counter-balanced brilliance of Dro Carey with 'Beast Numeral' - a six-minute succession of classic house jaunts. Revealing a more positively playful side on 'Topaz Looper', Sherm continues to surprise in the footsteps of fans such as Ben UFO, Mark Pritchard and L.I.E.S founder Ron Morelli. Clocking stages with Australian heavyweights Jagwar Ma and HTRK whilst stringing supports for Four Tet and Jamie xx alike, Cassius Select finally goes to print with two cold-cut workouts flipped on an affinity for city-side recesses. Proving Australia's most unkempt secret since his early days under the bedroom R 'n' B alias Guerre, 'Bruv' now sees Lee splice and scrape classic taunts into a knockabout elegy to the UK's MC heyday. Skittered up until the blown kick and bass serve of 'Rete Avec Ou', Cassius locks out on a pummelling ode to distance and disconnection, ringing in the end for a true-to-form take on mother-country confusion with enthralling results. 'His rhythms move with an unusual elasticity' SPIN on Tuff Sherm 'Tuff Motherfucken Sherm' FACT on Tuff Sherm 'Percussive techno is employed in full force here' XLR8R on Cassius Select 'Utterly outré techno' MESS + NOISE on Cassius Select

LAAK return on Austere with four cuts, only available on vinyl as usual. LAAK are on point with the opening track Unbalanced, an intensely gritty track. There is also a remix of an archive LAAK track by DJ Spider who completely dismantles the original to create a dark menacing remix. The B side kicks off with Mental & Emotional which continues the theme along with the more laid back track, the Rituals. Overall an ep that will not disappoint fans of the label.

Between the two of them, Jenifa Mayanja and Lola (aka Dakini9) have over 20 years experience in NYC's electronic music community. Here, they have combined forces for the first time to launch a new label and music collective: Sound Warrior.
Jenifa & Lola envision Sound Warrior as a forum for developing and promoting women electronic music producers. Based on their own, and the combined wisdom of other women in the scene, Jenifa & Lola decided to create this platform as a community for women electronic music artists, and hope to grow the idea into far beyond a record label.
Starting things off with a split 12', Jen and Lola deliver two distinct takes on percussion-heavy, ritualistic deep house.

After splitting a release with CHICAGO SKYWAY on the acclaimed #@&*! EP, the Chicago producer ISOKE is back with his sleeves rolled up and coming out swingin' with a massive, forward thinking sound on his "HOW TO SEDUCE CYBORGS" EP. Even though the only commonly known avant-pop/pseudo-world/cultural-rave outcome from Lithuania exists for more than 15 years, which is, for a Lithuanian band - A LOT, it seems this machine will never stop from moving forward, to the contrary - the legendary avant-project spins in it's own unstoppable wheel of fortune and change. Inspired what is commonly known as the 'Manchester's live-rave scene', V.R.R.'s main and only-permanent member Stavaris takes his time to travel to infinity and back in search of fellow companions, which, to be mostly frank, are very few. Later travels around the infinite have brought up a new exciting friendship with Ms. Muk, a local V.R.R. and music devotee. From then on - fear and love, excitement and hate have been unquestionable parts of the duos performance. The union of the small yet powerful Korg groove-box and a glamorously punk bass makes you feel as if you were caressed by airy knifes. The band is complete with Mr. Gintas Roze, a known guitar player in the local indie scene, who joined the band bringing a subtle hint of melancholic Kosmische Dimension with his lightsome yet noisy guitar. Limited to 250 copies on white vinyl!

The first in Midnight Shift's remix series sees festival headliners Deetron and Secret Cinema provide their dancefloor interpretation to
the label's debut release. Basic Soul Unit's cool A2 'Black Ice' is re-edited by none other than Deetron, the Swiss native with a prolific
and starry discography to his name. He turns Black Ice on its head, leading with its running bassline first while letting its crystal notes
be polished to a bright, blinding shine.
Already much supported by the likes of Nick Höppner, Shackleton, Josh Wink, Bleak and Dixon,
Eddie Niguel's 'Absolute' has been circling the circuit to great effect. Here, Netherland's Secret Cinema aka Jeroen Verheij pumps the
mental factor up sideways with an infectious, relentless groove that holds back just enough to keep you wanting more.
Midnight Shift will also be launching its first Label Showcase night at Velvet Underground, Zouk Singapore on 13 April 2013 with
Deetron and Eddie Niguel on the bill. Coming soon to a dancefloor near you: RMX001.

Nous #4 is here and is possibly the most resoundingly mercurial release to come out of the fledging stable thus far, featuring 5 moody, tracky cuts by Berlin's enigmatic Spoiled Drama.
The show stealer comes courtesy of NY's Patricia who takes the lead track's disembodied vocal sample and proceeds to intertwine it around an at once sinister yet beatific piece of atmospheric po-mo techno.

Fast making his way on the underground circuit, rising star Samu.l is back onboard One Records home ground delivering his first single release for the label with the entrancingly dark and driving monster 'Invitations'. Rolling with effortless groove and an all encompassing depth in the atmospherics, this is essential DJ weaponry perfect for the late hours or early morning. Warmly welcomed to the label we see the highly talented Martin Buttrich conjure up a powerful remix true to his distinct style, with a grumbling bassline and sonic force that will undoubtedly dominate any dance floor at peak time, complemented with a raw and chugging dub version to complete the ultimate package.
Hailing from the Midlands themselves both Subb-an and Adam Shelton are proud to have fellow Birmingham artist Tom Reynolds aka Samu.l as part of the crew. After making his first appearance on the label early last year with 'Innocent' on a v/a sampler, Samu.l soon became a name everyone was talking about. Towards the end of the year he firmly planted his feet in the One family playing at their infamous Below party and with a stellar remix of Hector's 'Stoned Raiders' for the label. Releases have also been on the likes of Surface Recordings, Dogmatik and Infuse, with a much anticipated remix for Subb-an due on Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records next year.
Wanting to secure the perfect remix for this release, the One boys called upon Desolat co-founder Martin Buttrich, a friend and artist who they highly respect. Being a hug fan of his work, Samu.l and Buttrich have also formed a connection over the last year appearing together on a number of line-ups. When not playing at the likes of Loco Dice's Used and Abused night in Ibiza, where he also played with Guy Gerber at his Wisdom Of The Glove night at Pacha, Buttrich is releasing on the labels such as Minus, Supplement Facts and his own Desolat. Watch out for a release also coming on Carl Craig's Planet E in February next year.

Freche Fruchte present 4 tracks of deep underground house music.
The lead track comes from man of the moment James Johnston "Turn around" is an elegant deep houser with a solid timeless feel, next up on the A side is a dark and deep house track with a gospel influence and a ridiculously large bassline from Robert Reinartz with "Praise him".
The lead track on the AA side is the result of a collaboration between Leigh D Oliver and label boss Alex Alterskye who present a house track bursting with energy and groove, and finally Lewis P strips things back with a major underground house workout!

Eagerly awaited debut electronic album from Maya Jane Coles - Comfort is released on her own label I/AM/ME.
In Maya's own words: "It's very exciting to be in charge of my debut album. It's given me total creative freedom and that is a necessity for me as an artist. I just hope that others will love the album as much as I loved working on it".
This really is a personal affair for Maya who produced, engineered and mixed the album at her modest home studio; playing every instrument and creating every sound including taking on vocal duties on tracks like the lo-fi "Stranger" and the hypnotic "Dreamer". Keeping things even more personal, Maya also created the album's artwork.
The album is reflective of Maya's broader musical influences both in and outside the electronic world with Comfort having hints and shades of many genres from house, R&B and hip hop through to dub, indie and techno.
Featuring Catherine Pockson of Alpines, Miss Kittin, Tricky and Scandinavian songstress Karin Park
