Trudge embarks on the tenth expedition into the exotic lands of palm trees and blue skies with the infectiously moody Negative Spaces' EP.Expedition ten features four jams packed of broken drum sequences, dreamy pads and scorching acid basslines.

Discos Capablanca return with a record from the mysterious Detroit-based Sharif Laffrey (we know little more than his place of birth, and that he likes to ride his bike and warm weather) who brings the heat on the Turn It Up 12". Recorded in Detroit in the late 80s and released on a cassette tape compilation in 1988, the original "Turn It Up" is a long forgotten gem from the period that Electro was beginning to morph and mutate into nascent forms of Techno. Excavated by Hugo Capablanca's label, the track is presented in an edited version that stays true to the original and complemented by an Acid Dub Not Dub version that implements plenty of deranged 303 action.

Fouk might have been curating Outplay since 2013, but their 'Butterfunk EP' is in fact the duo's first proper EP on their own imprint.

It's not that they've been resting on their laurels: they've drip-fed a handful of EPs on the likes of Heist and House of Disco over the past few years, and released solo efforts on Kolour Ltd and Razor 'n Tape that stormed the charts.
It's been fascinating to see the Dutch pair slowly break the mould, moving from heavy sampling in favour to an emphasis on original instrumentation and production.

The Butterfunk EP is fine showcase of their prowess in the studio, loaded to the hilt with contemporary dancefloor funk. Things kick off with the rolling drums, off-beat percussion and seriously infectious Hammond lines of Organ Freeman. Title track Butterfunk is aimed squarely at the hips with its smooth keys and perfectly placed vocal, while some acid lines give the track a little edge.

Flip over for the bumping 'Wong Way', a chunky workout with a rubber bassline. The finale of the EP is 'Winter', a fantastic slice of 80's inspired downtempo mushroom jazz.

The 6th release from Polybius Trax is the second one from the series "Split Project" and, as usual, we have 1 artist for side.
On the A side you'll find "Feel The Head" from Posthuman, who run I Love Acid, one of the best acid house labels right now, and who brings us a bomb of neo-jacking in the way of Paranoid London.

On the B side we have "Get Up" from The Model, Romanian producer and head honcho of the label Adult Centre, who makes a perfect bass-house track with heavy bass and female vocals that give to the song a nice hedonistic touch. Both tracks are perfect for the dancefloor.

This compilation is dedicated to Zoltán Balla aka Galactic Jackson on the occasion of his 40th birthday. Galactic Jackson is a very individual character in Budapest's electronic music scene: his eclectic vinyl only DJ sets, clothing style, moustache, facial expressions, and funny comments are all part of his image. However, it is not a fake persona; he is really like this. Zoltán is also famous for his magical 'Ballacid Studio', which is one of the biggest analog synthesizer collections in Hungary. J. Mono is an old friend of Galactic Jackson from Lajosmizse, Hungary. The artist is a songcrafter-synthjammer mastermind from the trio Wedding Acid Group and his first solo EP 'Zzz' was recently released on Dalmata Daniel.Silvio is an alias of the well-known Budapest-based musician Route 8, who is famous for his analogue-rich workouts and IDM-inspired but dancefloor-oriented sounds.It is not necessary to introduce the Norwegian EOD to those who are familiar with IDM and acid scenes. Among others, he has releases on the famous labels Rephlex and 030303. Hypnotic is the producer of the Hungarian new wave band Nouvelle Phénomène (Bordello A Parigi).

The dirtiest record that has released Discos Nutabe! "Vistante' is the new sound spectrum from ELO, an artist born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and based in Bogotá, Colombia.

ELO has decided to raise the sound bet of Nutabe and offer a release that brings acid and techno elements combined with housey nuances. This is a product of his new life perceptions since his arrival to Colombia. It's an experiment for the dance floor, and his point of view of rude and disorganized house music. Or as he says Rough On The Edges'.

Cindy appears again in Memories of Cindy Pt. 2, a passage of five plaintive cuts, concisely rendered with spineful percussion, succinct melodies and textures that evoke classic acid house and the New Beat scene of the late 80s / early 90s. Featured on Pt 2. are several songs among the collection's non-club oriented tracks, Transportzone Meer' and Forever Afslutidijk', both meditative, atmospheric exercises interspersed among the EP's higher-BPM takes.

Two years after the milestone SOMEWHERE compilations, Something Happening Somewhere is commemorating the times that have passed, returning with a new chapter in the series. Selecting unique pieces of artists known and less known, the SOMEWHERE series continue their sound based confessional. Telling unheard stories, exposing unseen surfaces and unheard sounds.
SOMEWHERE III is set to be released as two vinyl samplers, with a selection of the tracks featured in the full digital compilations, which will feature four extra digital only tracks. Kiani & His Legion's Motion Academy feels like an exercise in drum pattern programming glued together by his trademark pads and retro synth melodies while synth seagulls swirl around your head. Nuno dos Santos & Quince guide you further on the journey with their rework of Dutch delight Eefje de Visser. Starting with a majestic waterfall of guitar sounds and metallic flanging percussion, it builds up to Eefje's ethereal voice seducing you like a geisha through the abstract mist before hitting the massive bassline arpeggio.
Quince's Pelagic Zones leaves you out in the open. No shore or surface close enough for you to escape the dark brooding vibes and muggy atmospheres that engulf you. Kurt Baggaley's continues the dive with This System. Utilizing a heavy vocoder sound to welcome you into a chaotic dystopian world, pitching chords and multiple riffing synth melodies create a sense of disorientation.
Kaap's lush Sunset Vertigo feels just like the name implies, being propelled forward by a Testarossa across the Pacific Coast Highway with an orange sunset serving as the melancholic backdrop. Inspired by retro chorus synths, tape noises and cr-78 percussion rhythms, it provides catchy melodies and shimmering pads that accumulate in a feeling of endlessness. A perfect fit to close this first SOMEWHERE III chapter.

After the acclaim of Time Traveler's I'm Made of Stars' LP last year, followed by two successful EPs on his Chronicles Diary imprint, Michele Pinna brings his Time Traveler moniker back with 'Remix report II + Chapter IX' EP featuring powerful remixes by three key names in European and US techno.

The EP opens with the veteran visionary Dave Clarke who delivers a complex industrial version of 'Interstellar' made of deeply distorted tones and punk influences. Detroit Techno Militia take over with their reinterpretation of 'B-29' where a groovy and energetic atmosphere is set from the start, adding a vigorous touch to the track. Brian Sanhaji's raw techno roots are showcased in 'Alpha', with pulsing and dense beats yet precise cuts, turning the track into serious dancefloor material. Time Traveler is closing up the EP with hammering beats and distorted riffs and three menacing tracks in line with his dystopian sci-fi vision.

A side 'Downtown Wedgeee' kicks off with twisted acid lines and drunken arpeggios which build and build until completely going off the rails, then finishing with ethereal pads and metallic percussion.

B side 'Bad Monks' ups the tempo and goes even further into woozy psychedelic territory with thick dizzying drones and a smeared pounding analogue rhythm.

Czechoslovakian band Máma Bubo was founded by Karel Babuljak in 1982; he put together five friends that he trusted. Having been more or less groping in the dark of music until then, Babuljak suddenly expressed a clear musical and human opinion to which the other members of Máma Bubo added theirs. A new band was born and although it had a clear face, it did not fit in anywhere, was hard to be connected with anything, and was isolated despite its openness. Máma Bubo always guaranteed an extraordinary and shocking experience which surpassed the level of entertainment. 1985: Babuljak's disenchantment with the social situation as well as with artistic futility compelled him to a more profound attitude which resulted in a totally different concept, PLANETA HAJ, for Máma Bubo; yet, the concept was short-lived as if having been born in a place it did not fit in. In 2017, 2 LP of PLANETA HAJ, a record from 1985, was released on vinyl for the first time.

By now, Chicago's home of the ghetto house movement, Dance Mania, should need no introduction!
If you didn't already know, they are the original purveyors of that hard-ass, stripped back, tough, hitting electronic funk, they've never held back with their output. Operating since the late 80's the label has gained legions of fans over 2 decades as well as a certain notoriety and one of their most well-known artists has got to be the legendary DJ Deeon and his various production pseudonyms! This, the very first of a series of samplers focusses on some of his unreleased cuts, rarities and classics from the DM catalogue.
Kicking things off we're greeted by the classic 'In This House', smashing toms, claps and sped up kids vox all combine to form a bonfide ghetto classic. 'DO U C' takes us back to the Muzic Box, Deeon nods to Ron Hardy on this slammin' version of 'Coming On Strong', a chopped up Discoid monster with a fat-ass 808 rumble underneath. High grade indeed. Time for an unreleased cut, yep, courtesy of Deeon himself we have 'The 221', dug outta the archive and included here for your enjoyment. Again, this that genuine, classic DJ Deeon gear.
Flip it over to side B is the all-out acid burner 'Hypnosis', taken from Deeon's rare as Playground Productionz double pack 'Vintage Computation' from 1995. Absolutely smashing this one, and what a way to ignite things! 'R U Sure' is next and is one of those insane, 'WTF is this' Chicago jams, spaced-out percolating chaos of the highest degree! Watch this one work when you play it. 'House Werk' rounds out side A, first time on wax for this one, originally only available on a mid 90's mixtape we are treated to this hi-energy jacker that will smack the dance-floor, guaranteed! Not for the amateurs! Every track on here has been remastered and repressed with the full consent and involvement of DJ Deeon and Parris Mitchell, selected and programmed from Deeon's private archives and DAT tapes for Above Board, London. 100% hater free.

Ron Allen and Hayden Andre are two artist names that some may not be familiar with outside of rare record aficionado circles, but they certainly deserve to have more credit. They crafted some of the most original, fresh, deep and interesting house and techno records to come out of their native Canada. Originally released in 1991, and the first release on their soon to be cult imprint Strobe, 'Metamorphasis' is a strong statement of intent, across six tracks Allen and Andre lay down a plethora of styles ranging from the deepest house sounds to more warehouse leaning bleep style tracks, deep sub bass, dreamy washing pads and taut drum programming are all the order of the day here and boy are we all the better off for it! This is essential stuff for all house and techno lovers out there, the real deal indeed!
The duo, and their label, went on to release numerous other future classics and gems during it's lifespan, some of which will now see the light of day again via a string of fully legit remastered reissues overseen by Ron Allen himself. A long time want by many, often expensive and topping the lists of those 'in the know' 'Metamorphasis' is now available again, as it was originally released way back in '91 with original Strobe artwork intact. Remastered and reissued from directly from Ron's personal source materials it's time these artifacts were made available again for 2017. A truly essential release!

Italy via Shanghai is the route taken for the debut E.P of Neapolitan producer Altieri, aka Eugenio Altieri. A designer living in Shanghai, Eugenio started to make music back in 2004, mixing music and visuals to create his weirdo production' sessions. After traveling east he founded the DesToys duo, a live project that channelled space disco and 80s commercial music.

Edo is a personal view over the modern Asia, Japan in this case. Inspired by the street sounds and bugged out day to day world of Tokyo his debut EP is four tracks of slippery head music. Chiseled from the deep seams of an intergalactic mine and informed by the dark heart of house and no wave disco this is club music from the oily underbelly.

Active Cultures proudly presents its first release, the Animate Objects EP by Tide Eman, a new recording project by Texan producer Bill Converse. 5 tracks in Converse's singular style meant to stimulate mind and body.

The much talked about Love Fever label is back with a hot new EP, this time from Absolute with remixes from Willian Djoko. It follows big records from the likes of Citizen, John Daley and Bicep and is another essential outing from this top label.
Absolute kicks things off with 'Mind Control', a moody house cut with spangled basslines gurgling about above slick rubber drums. Some mind melting melodies ripple over the face of the track and freaky vocals add lots of late night weirdness that help this one stand right out. A 'mixed stems' version of the same tune is a little roe sparse and eerie, with a big breakdown sucking you deep into the midst of this fresh groove.
The excellent 'Acid' is next and for two minutes teases with no drums and just writhing synth lines, then the drums drop and they are big powerful things that come with rasping stabs and huge hi hats. It's festival sized house music with some futuristic and trancey chords and is a truly original jam.
Man of the moment and Amsterdam producer William Djoko—fresh off some big tunes on labels like Seth Troxler's Tuskagee as well as Voyage Direct—he swerves up two remixes. The first is a deep, seductive number with weird vocals and sonar like blips that really gets into your brain, and the other digital only bonus is an epic nine minute work out that really keeps you on your toes with its urgent techno drums and nervy melodies.
This is an exciting and standout new EP from all concerned.

Pinkman's Broken Dreams welcome a new midnight malcontent into the fold, Ernestas Sadau debuts with his first 12': Gonzo on Tour. Sirens blare, samples hiss in a haze of static before a grizzled snare introduces 'Riots in Jail Near Kaunas.' Grubby basslines curl into shards of acid, full figured thump sweetened by fragile bars. 'Crackheads from Lyon' is steeped in the traditions of garage bands and D.I.Y. punk. Strings snarl and sneer at crashing drum beats, lonesome notes floating in the surge. The foul tempered 'Hiroshima (Acid Breaks Your Body Mix)' demands the flip. Beats break and buckle under the leer of lewd 303 lines, a finale bubbling over with violent intent.

There are tracks that only deploy their full meaning when pumping through the speakers of a dark club. To give shelter to the latter, Hivern kick starts a new series of vinyl-only splits dedicated to club-ready cuts by artists in our orbit. To launch the series, we count with both a well-known Hivern stalwart and a new addition to the label. Side A is dedicated to 'Cel Avall', a track that has been hidden in Marc Pinol's vaults for way too many years. With it's slow pace and direct but hypnotic feel, it sounds as if one of the pioneers of the first wave of Chicago house had spent a night dancing to Danielle Baldelli at the Cosmic club. Syclops is trio Sven Kortehisto, Hanna Sarkari and Jukka Kantonen. First to appear on a Bubble Tease 12 in 2001, followed by two singles for Tirk and finally with the debut album 'I've Got My Eye On You' on DFA in 2008. Two established producers and recent Brooklyn transplants, John Barera (Dolly Records, Jack Dept.) and Ike Release (MOS, Mister Saturday Night), strike a fresh partnership yielding this potent EP of upfront and dancefloor-ready jams on EPISODES! The now Brooklyn-based label sees John Barera join the fold for the eight edition, appearing as the only producer not from Chicago, and the first Brooklyn producer to appear on the label. The free will of Struments has led them to concentrate in one 12inch the encyclopedic knowledge of Marc Pinol, a duo of kids that present themselves as T.A.L., and the responsible for all that, Spastor, that appears in a remix signed by Florian Kupfer. Lliure Albir sounds as if Pinol was dazzled by the light of a lantern in a chill out while Paranoid London resound in the next room. In his remix, Palms Trax bet on tom toms and certain tribal groove, adding soft eighties keyboards, deep atmosphere, speeches and dub deliriums that perfectly fit in the freak universe of Pinol. Florian Kupfer remix made of Spastor's Death In La Paz: a hit made in the German musician style whose groove is created by a fold in the sound and the apparent imbalance it has with the bass drum. If after this dawn breaks, it will not be small thing. T.A.L. are guided by a retro-spatial pulse to open a fan of sounds that expands and contracts threateningly, and delicately form what looks like an EBM hit stripped of the hammers.

Straight out of Queens NYC, Love Letters makes their debut on YIELD. The 5th tape release is accompanied by the first vinyl release of the imprint. Love Letters provided 3 stunning and diverse cuts of the track 'Ducue', traversing the variety of early house sounds.

The 'Single Mix' is the classic House jam with a warm piano, jacking groove and seductive vocals by Love Letters themselves. 'Xtended Dick Dub' sets the mark at a stripped back and hot pace. Its penetrating groove and thumping low end will make it impossible for any dedicated dancer to stand still and ignore the energy. On the flip side is the 'Turtle Bugg & L.L. Free Edit', a collaboration with DJ and friend Turtle Bugg, which will literally vibrate the sweat off the ceiling with its 808 and 303 violence, showing no mercy for those who fail to yield.

Joining the Unknown Precept forces are C.G.I. Records' label head Matthew Wei- ner teaming up with Christopher Daresta as Pyramid Club. Being known for their T.W.I.N.S. and Anticipation solo activities, Cyclic Obsession comes as the debut re- lease of the four-handed formation taking its name from the eponymous venue which helped define the counterculture and queer sound of lower Manhattan in the late 70's. Recorded in their stronghold of Atlanta following a handful of tracks released via the jointly-operated D.K.A. Records, it shows the duo taking over primitive body music in its most physical and psychedelic dimension. Thick as a brick bass lines for the basement turmoil — reflecting the hazy vortex smoldering out of an ill-lighted nightclub. Think of spasmodic synth-driven tunes interspersed by convulsive vocals and throbbing snares, in which one could see the whites of the dancers' eyes right before the lights turn back on.

Blake Baxter is undoubtedly Detroit techno royalty. His unique style and sound has always found fans around the world since his first releases back in the late 80's. We decided to reach out to Blake here at Mint Condition HQ and we were hugely under-prepared for the reply we'd get back from him. 'Master tapes!' we said - 'Yes' said Blake. OK, who wouldn't wish to hear unreleased mixes and versions of some bonafide Detroit techno classics we thought That's what you're going to get with Mint Condition number 12, some unheard, unreleased, straight from Blake Baxter's 4 track tape stash HEAT. As you're all aware, 1991's seminal 'Prince of techno' EP originally came out on Underground Resistance and we've been given exclusive permission to reissue the EP (almost) in it's entirety, the only difference being that this pressing doesn't include 'Vision of truth' and features unheard versions of the other tracks that appeared on that EP as well as the original, classic mix of 'When a thought becomes you'. On 005 Ken turns away from the light and invites you into the dark with Adelaide's Furious Frank, who dishes up a selection of psychedelic burners and formidable squelch. On this release Frank pays tribute to the many mushroom picking spots in the surrounding hills of his hometown, and does them justice with an assortment of broken beats, affected drum flourishes and paranoid synths. Over the course of the 5-tracker, Frank presents sounds for the frayed final edges of a night out dancing, where shadows start to play tricks on the mind and each remaining track poses more questions than answers. None typify this nervous energy more so than A2 Dangerous Dancer', with it's smoked out electro punctuated by a wailing 303 intended for dancers that may have gone too far, but are willing to take the next step.

Alek Stark is responsible for some of the finest boutique vinyl releases available. His 808 boxes, DMX drum machine replica and plexi-glass sleeves for Fundamental Records are legendary in the electro fraternity.

Quadratschulz sculpts his sound with a wonderfully warm and autumnal quality, as in the cascading synth showers of "Ferrofluid." Yet there are colder moments, the frigid flows of "Kran" sprouting into the chilly house tones of "Piloten." a Tribute to the groundbreaking LFO is also included. Bleep festooned chicanery is the offering as "Ring The Bell" takes you back to the infamous warehouse parties of 90s Britain. Jacking Chicago tracks on this first EP by Offenbach's freshmen 'AM UNIT' containing three original tracks plus a solid remix by Lauer (one half of Tuff City Kids). A-sided 'Gotta Slow Down' and 'Hold Back' are classic examples of dancefloor fillers while B-sided 'Raw Jam' is a hard and super effective acid track that leaves no-one indifferent. The Dub mix of 'Gotta Slow Down' by Lauer is an oscillating interpretation of the original track with an efficient piano line! Limited to 400 hand stamped and numbered copies!

'White Punks on E' is the taste of bike chains rubbing against black leather. Heavy cast iron forged across studs and hot-wired organs. The howls from blazed skull hordes jacked up to distortion engines broadcasting into neglected cellar units.

It's shrill echoes from the parking lot carried along the financial district, overturning lobotomised business lunches, attache cases and $50 slick-backs. Nasty club rock fed through biohazard cassettes, doom arcades, sabres and scorpion tattoos - new blood to rock the neighbourhood and a pleasure to welcome Stratton into the fold.

At the third New Interplanetary Melodies' astral journey stopover, it was mandatory to catch an Italian project deeply inspired by the Sun Ra visionary realm, expressing contemporary trials of hybridising jazz with artful electronica. So Ra Toth and The Brigantes' Orchestra landed on vinyl grooves for the label, after having previously appeared on the likes of Mathematics and Berceuse Heroique. Behind the sound, we find the elusive and unpredictable genius of the well-respected producer Marcello Napoletano. NIM received the distorted sound signal from Napoletano taken over by the Egyptian deity born from the lips of Ra. Who knows if those noises were coming from a parallel dimension, outer space, or some otherworldly sphere... Submerged in dark bottom waters, the stormy waves of the 'Acid Sea' are made of convulsive afro-flavoured percussion with sharp synths looming out like the ivories of some freakish abyssal creatures.
