In what was a definitive first year for the imprint, with two solid EPs from Petre Inspirescu and Vlad Caia, Pluie/Noir also endorsed numerous acclaimed Podcasts and served as the platform for various artistic endeavors embraced not only by their own artists but also by the world. To commemorate this achievement, and in a respectful manner to their long time collaborators, the imprint is now releasing a 12 track compilation spread across three 12's showcasing the various sounds that personify the imprint and give their artists a well deserved voice. The narrative to the compilation reflects the minimalistic musical template that is so dear to Pluie/Noir, where simple and complex structures meet along the way in the attempt of creating something that can last in time. Each track is a concise exploration of house music's skeleton, leaving nothing to waste, but never feeling in slightest bit sterile. It's surprising and unpredictable, but in an organized, artistic manner.

Adrian Niculae better known as Priku is one of bucharest's finest djs and producers as well. After realeasing for labels like arpiar and all inn he now decided to start his own path. Motif will probably feature most of his works from now on, plus some of his close aquaintance's.

Acustic is the name chosen for motif 01 and experiment is the game. Not sounding too far from his last experience on arpiar, Bonita mariposa is a dreamy yet pumping track, filled with shakers and spikes that go along perfectly with the dark piano. Afterhour delight or possibly an intricate starter, who could tell . Marker keeps the darkness but inserts more rhythm, more percussion, more mystery. The wandering artists are back for the third instalment of the Birdsmakingmachine series, this time again going deeply into the abysses of house music. 'Multiverse', occupying the whole A-side, is a deep dancefloor affair filled with endless pads which, having been layered onto elaborate drum grooves, fuse together into the endless horizon. The B-side goes into similar territory, while still managing to create a slightly different ambience:
'40th of May' uses intricately groovy steel drum patterns on a long, never-ending journey through the deep depths of the ocean, as for the end credits, 'Dune' rounds off the EP with an instantly hypnotising groove that melts into delayed vocals, slightly darker pads and a galloping, yet smooth sine-wave bassline.

For the EPs, Exercise One invited some of their talented friends from along the journey to remix their favourite tracks of the duo's back catalogue, for vinyl and digital release. EP 2 continues the overrun of talent with Ewan Pearson masterfully remixing in typically grandiose style, putting on the breaks and laying down an irresistible groove from which he tinkers with thick swathes of valve-heated melodies and bulbous bass. Alex Smoke's charred contribution has an air of narcotic outlandishness with the swirl of Farsi poetry recorded by close Persian friends of the duo in their old flooded basement studio. And Berlin band subQ10x cover Exercise One's very first release 'Roll With U', with Ingo on drums.

After the high acclaimed first release last month with Chris Rea's Josephine, we're back with the second edtion of MB EDITS. This time we play tribute to Swedish pop/rock band Eskobar with their world wide major hit back in 2002. Someone New features Heather Nova on vocals. The song was in TV commercials for Peugeot 208 and mobile operator 3. The first edit comes from Sweden's high rising stars Copycat and Martin Brodin. Their slow electronic-disco chugger is simply put as a beautiful adoption of the original with the hook line working just sublime. Once the song is over you'll will play it over and over. As you'll notice, the original is such a feel-good track. They both lately finished remixes for Nang and LaBelle. Second out is Danish René Kirkegaard alias Cemetary. A producer who likes his Deep/Tech House. And his remix is nothing but a true slow Deep House builder for over 9 minutes with the vocals of Heather Nova coming in just as sweet as we want it. We'd be very surprised if this track wouldn't be rated as one of the best underground remixes of 2012!!!

It was an instant friendship based on mutual respect to eachother. ... His characterictic sound with the deepness of dub, endless warm basses in the contrast of the crispy experiments always amazed me, beside of that our friendship and his modest personality continously inspiring me all the time, both musically and personally meanings. The first release from Under Bron Recordings highlights a firm and direct feeling, like being seduced and sharing something personal with somebody new, the A-side showcasing a mixture of dialogue and trust. Keeping a steady house groove and pace, 'Sounds In The Grass' inspires the dust from the ceiling at your local warehouse to come down to the ground again, while 'Waiting To Exhale' turns to the conversationalists standing by the bar or on the outskirts of the dance floor. Delroy Edwards (L.I.E.S.) remix on the B-side expands the WRD horizon and brings in a different blueprint, where swirling sounds combines the track into a beautiful palette of youth and decay.

Birdsmakingmachine brings us the second instalment of their recently launched Series with another four tracker of mysterious minimal house cuts that hook the listener with their constantly building beats, evolving grooves and melodies. While 'Wild Carrots' starts off the EP with a hypnotic yet musical journey through effect-laden rhythms, 'Lost Inside' follows as a stripped down groover with eerie melodies haunting the beat playfully. On the flip we find 'Nest Rocking', a juggling piece growing with percussions and ambient pads and lastly 'Recipients', an early inspired gem with an intricately funky bassline and electric organs.

If you haven't heard of Jamie Anderson, chances are you are either too young to go to a club or you have been into heavy metal during the past twenty years. The amount of releases and labels that we could tie this Brit to are simply overwhelming: Cocoon, Rekids, International Deejay Gigolos, Harthouse, Dessous or his own imprint Artform to name just a few big guns. That being said: the man continues to be one of those rare figures in nightlife that stayed grounded while being praised by the likes of Derrick May and many other big players.

So, when we got to know him through a mutual friend from Ghent we were excited that he immediately came to us with a track and some ideas that resulted in this release: 1992. A vinyl only, limited-to-250-copies affair which will not be repressed. Which makes it actually even more of a special release since it's not too often that a name of Jamie's pedigree does these kinds of small-audience releases anymore.

As the title suggests: it's a track founded in the source code of Techno: 303 acid, 909 kicks and many of the oldskool sounds that shaped Techn minutes.
The second mix, aptly called Acid Tweak Mix, is one for the fans of the pure breed Acid House. Stripped down, threatening and hypnotic by repetition.
The remix on the B-side was made by someone we wanted to invite on the label for a long time: Red D, the man behind We Play House Recordings, FCL, a limited vinyl hype called "It's You", a West-Vleteren beer fan but most of all just a mate of ours for many years. Not really a surprise that he came up with a House version that kept things very simple and sounded so analogue it was protesting loudly when we had to encode it to WAV format. What we liked especially about it was that it was al kept so basic, just like the old House tracks sounded that we liked: a bassline, a few samples, a kick and a melody played there and then. Brilliant once you unleash it on a floor.

Matthias has released several productions over the years, ranging from techno to chill out music under different names. The flip-side 'Eternal Sunshine' is a darker toned track, with slight-flashes of acid in it's core bass-line and ever-lifting tense chords that unexpectedly rumble between the intense atmosphere and lift both your body and soul. Once again, we're happy to welcome a new artist to the Hivern family. New Jackson hails from Dublin and produces nocturnal disco-adventures from his studio by the sea. 'Sat Around Here Waiting' , his debut for the label, features two of his trademark ghostly jams alongside two remixes by British uprising talent Fort Romeau and our very own Pional.
The title track builds up around muted percs and haunted melodies, creating a spacey atmosphere that somehow resembles Bernard Fevre's Black Devil early productions yet introducing a personal pop twist when the vocodered vocals burst into the mix. On the flip, Fort Romeau delivers the most DJ-friendly version of the pack by reinvigorating the groove with conga rhythms and a bouncy bassline topped with classic piano phrasings. Pional's take delves into the galactic feeling of the original cut by adding an extra shot of floaty melodies and analog drum-machines.
The digital version of the release comes with an additional New Jackson original and a second rework by Pional. 'Below The Bridge' is an obscure piece of slo-mo narcotic machine-funk that blends spectral melodies and soulful vocal samples while Pional's alternate take on the lead cut boosts the euphoria through uplifting synth chords.
The release comes in a limited edition 12' housed in sumptuous sleeve designed by Barcelona's young design studio Co´rdova-Canillas.

As we are beset by the darkest of seasons, let Sequencias provide a score to fit the mood. Presented in two parts, "Hybrid Furrows" marks the second transmission of the mysterious Healing Force Project from Treviso, Italy.


The first part is a dense, introspective overture. A ceaseless minor key drone lays the path for deep thrumming gong-like pulse and shuddering percussive textures. A song without a coda, a dream without resolution, it simply dissipates like fog—never revealing it's center.


The second part is similarly monolithic in nature, but crafted more for movement than meditation. It is vicious arpeggiated psychedelia, sharp enough to cut into the deepest recesses of your psyche.


Both tracks were recorded live in one take.

Amor Fati, born in Hamburg is linked to the club life since the beginning of the 90s. No matter if it's in the Tresor, the E-Werk or the Omen, Detroit, Techno Chicago House and the Frankfurt Sound inspired him as well as the freedom linked with it.
Since that time Amor Fati produces under the name 'Buttha' and released several of his songs under a different name at Contentismissing Rec.
In the last years he spent a lot of time on Ibiza and let himself be inspired by the nature and the spirit of the island.
2012 Amor Fati starts the labels BlackisBlack Rec. and Träumer&Tänzer Rec. to be able to release his songs independently and offer a platform to young artists.

The irresistible force of Belgian based Michael Forzza as a dj/producer has to be his originality with his sound floating between minimal and techno. After a few releases on his own imprint 'Perimeter Records', exposing a darker mindset, he also showcased raw emotions and exuded feelings of love with his 'Kahana' release on 'Ghoststyle' which became a dancefloor bomb and was also voted as one of the best selling records in 2005. Afterwards he released his classic 'Abstractor' series which presented atmospheric and abstract techno, proving his versatility as an artist as he breaks new sound frontiers.
'Karma EP' features two deep tracks with a minimal twist embodying music as a spiritual exercise.

Through their label Cocktail d'Amore, Discodromo and Boris offer you thefirst 12" from Studio Luce. Studio Luce is Berlin's newest musical collaboration bringing Franz Scala and Dimitri SoEmotional together to explore the sensitive pulse of dance music. Their roots are synth funk, 80's modern soul, new wave, electroand old school disco. The original track is called "Defender X" and can be described as a funktrack with a contemporary digital touch. Surrounding it, Toby Tobias andTuff City Kids (Gerd Janson and Lauer) provide their interpretations. While Toby develops his version in a 2-part remix made of dubby chord stabs, a deep rolling bassline and an excellent meticulous production,Tuff City Kids opt for a warm bassline, very tight drum programming, shimmering trancey synth and a catchy house-chords progression right tothe last breakdown. The latter also emphasize the rhythmic section for anadditional track called "drum remix" which pays tribute to Idjut Boysproductions including a lot of reverbs and reverse tape delays.

However, he was definitely not lazy in between. After releasing an EP on Circus Company alongside Marc Schneider, remixing Luomo aka Vladislav Delay, having his first singles remixed by Mano Le Tough, Area aka M50 and Wasted Gaze and finishing his first album which will see the light of day early 2013, it is about time for a new record. Mutating at the unusual speed of 149 BPM, 'Chevere' is an ever changing, sizzling beast of a track with snakelike twist and turns, thunderous drums and acid-drenched leads. 'Flipside Of Time' just builds and builds and builds. Take some classic Juno-strings, trademark Aera arpeggios, add some noise, a nasty kick-drum and some more noise, this is it. A twisted
anthem for the brave. After this kind of heavy onslaught, 'Die Pferden' takes the time to kick back a little and deliver something more conventional - at least in Aera's terms: built upon a chopped up, slightly skipping vinyl sample, an evolving, reverb bathed bass-line and some chunky drums.
