"Civis Jams" ist eine brodelndes Werk aus schlummernden Strukturen und ruhigen, kraftvollen Songs. Dieses Gefühl wird nochmal verstärkt durch Darkstars nachtaktive Produktionsweise von Drums und Synths. Zu den Highlights gehören die Tracks "Wolf" in bester Mount Kimbie-Manier der "Cold Spring Fault Less Youth"-Phase sowie "Jam", ein potentieller Peaktime-Banger, den Darkstar aber sanft und mit der Schärfe eines Jai Paul interpretieren. Nach ihrem Hyperdub-Debüt "North" (2010) und den beiden Warp-Nachfolgern "News From Nowhere" (2013) und "Foam Island" (2015) haben Darkstar mit "Civic Jams" ein Album mit grandiosen Unterwasser-Nachtsongs erschaffen.

A little later than scheduled, but we're back in action with the 92nd release on 3am Recordings, this is the fourth instalment of the "3am Wax" series, showcasing artists who have been part of the label family for some time & whose work we love on vinyl-only.

Kicking off the EP is long-time 3am artist Carlo Gambino. The last few years have been very kind to Carlo - not only has he remixed of his personal favourite tracks, namely "After All" for Franck Roger's Real Tone Records, he also had an absolute smash in the Summer of 2020, with "Dance For You" on Cinthie's We_R_House label, which was a sell-out all over. That's alongside his usual flurry of quality deepness for labels across the board. Here we have a typically bumpy affair from him, with his familiar low-end-bothering bass & dubby stabs, this time with a very tongue-in-cheek vocal flowing through the track. More deeply chunky vibes from Mr Gambino!

A2 comes from Lee Guthrie, head-man at the superb Click Therapy & purveyor of outstanding bassy cuts, which fall somewhere between the modern flowing tech/deep house of Eastern Europe and the rolling percussive vibes of Siesta/Halo & Hipp-e from the early 00s. One thing is guaranteed, you're in for a proper workout when Lee is at the controls & this is no different. Percussive tightness & a heavy bass lead into some old-school rave-style stabs, which just add to the modern/retro combination & it works so well. We're absolutely buzzing to have Lee back on 3am.

B1 is a welcome return for mastering-guru & all-round awesome guy Rob Small. We're very honoured to have Rob back on 3am - he has been so busy as the "go-to" mastering guy, it's tricky to squeeze in productions, but this remastered version of his "Fear & Loathing" track, which was originally a digital release, showcases why it's with the wait. Amazing drum programming, subby bass, warm stabs & a tripped vocal make this a superb return for Rob & we're incredibly proud to have him back on the label.

Finally, the EP is closed off in warm & dubby style with "The Golden Ratio", from label boss Al Bradley. Swirling pads & a dub-house style create a superbly warm affair, this works perfectly in both warm-up or deep afterhours sets, showcasing Al's deeper side. With vinyl releases lined up for 2021 on Reflections Of Yesterday, Rejekts, Call & Response, We're Going Deep, plus his artist album on 3am later in 2021, it's looking like a solid year of wax for Al.

Belonging is the second full length album by Berlin based producer Takeleave.

The multi-instrumentalist dedicates this release to an allegory of arrival and homesickness, after his first album Inner Sea focused on the journey itself. While the latest album was mostly written in different places, Belonging has been produced solely in the same place in Berlin, where most of the songs have evolved from intuitive jams on the instrument.

„This album turned out to sound as intimate and intuitive as it was for me when writing these songs. I feel like i got a little step closer to my own sound over the last year.“

Nostalgic synth and chords, innocent melodies and powerful rhythms all compound the versatile Art Of War EP by upcoming producer Coeur. From analogue club cuts to Sunday morning jams and more personal atmospheres, the Parisian artist navigates seamlessly between genres and influences all along the record.


What strikes first is the thumping yet enchanting club cut that is Dinguzer (A1). Uplifting acid melodies mingle and develop to samples of the British Soul Queen Sade for an accurate and uncompromising dance floor number. The flip side opens up to another level of introspection with 49 RDC (époque poly) (B3) and Trenolo (B2) that show a more reflective and playful approach to music production. Left field house & techno connoisseurs won't be disappointed to find more rhythmic complexity along the way with Lawrence D (B1) and Thick String (A2).

The Alma project was born from a very strong personal experience that led Odeeno to get closer to his inner self and to know his own soul. Although it is in line with the already wide discography of Odeeno, Alma is a different EP, it represents the beginning of a new phase. Alma is a mature and conscious work, full of new inspirations and new languages. The struggle against personal ghosts is transferred to its decisive place, at the center of the body: the soul. She is the friend to listen to, to talk to in order to recognize life's mistakes and
transform them into a richer and more defined experience, just like the beats of this work. The atmospheres of dark colors dissolve, the groove becomes more fluid, the times faster. Beyond darkness and gloom, for Odeeno there is now light. In this sense Alma is his most committed album, but also challenging, from an artistic and
emotional point of view. Alma is growth and evolution, in other words a new beginning.

Mathias Modica's "Sonic Rohstoff" is the new album on Berlin-based label Kryptox Music, Toy Tonics' and Gomma Records' sub label for new forms of Jazz & Electronica. Over the past two decades, Mathias he has made a name for himself by discovering and breaking new talent and styles of music. He produced albums with James Murphy and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, Asia Argento, The Rammellzee and WhoMadeWho just to name a few. The album is a journey through abstract downtempo vibes, lofi jazz and futuristic electronica. This is Modica's first album under his own name, following three albums under his monikers Kapote and Munk. All instruments are performed by Modica himself, embellished by guest musicians from the new Berlin Jazz scene. Most people might know Modica from his earlier works as a producer, keyboard player and founder/ creative mind behind Toy Tonics, Gomma and Kryptox.

The Georgian producer Wax D debuts on Beef records with rather heavy but nostalgic 6 track album. Inspired by the past, revisited in the present and mixed in the future. 'Pink Body Ritual’ brings back blurred childhood memories while driving high on bags of energy. Marco Lazovic (Lobster Theremin) and Vision of 1994 (Harmless Youth) on the remix duties. Expect all shades of lo-fi house, TB-303 twists, 90’ trance and broken beats.

For their 3rd release, Pulse Msc has traveled worldwide from Rennes to Vienna, Copenhagen, and Adelaide to create "Mind Trip", a detonating 4 tracks Lo-fi House EP with multiple influences.

The first track is signed by Subjoi, a young Australian artist well-known in the Lo-fi game. The man delivers "The Way I Feel", a subtle and emotional tune, embellished with devastating kicks which will leave nobody indifferent.

In the second position, there is an important contributor to the French Lo-fi scene, who has a lot of talent and is clearly to monitor: DJ Psychiatre! The guy has released of his imagination "Our Love Is Real", a wonderful piece conducive to escape with varied & nonlinear sonorities and powerful vocals.

Then Slim Hustla, a Danish duo with well-tempered personalities gives a big contribution to the project with "Ghostryda". The track is a sentimental and melancholic ballad, with beautiful vocals which brings the listeners in weightlessness and strays them into a dreamy universe.

To conclude, gutinstinct, an Austrian versatile artist, owner of Dream Raw Recordings ends the EP with "Blue Sea". The tune is a raw and dark dance-floor killer track, which plunges everybody into an abyssal atmosphere. Take a deep breath and enjoy the trip!

Neville Lawrence Immigrated from his home country of Trinidad to New York in the mid 80's where, a few years later, following his fleeting east coast success, he re-settled with Wife Anne (Star) in Omaha, Nebraska where they continued to perform, produce and record music until the present day.

After releasing a cassette, 7' and 12' single with us in the last year we are happy to present yet another wonderful release from superstar and star! Big Big Hugs!

And one day Jack yelled down from his box “Let There Be House” and House Music was born. House is a feeling it´s very positive, it´s uplifting, it´s dance music and most importantly it´s for all people from every different walk of life. Back in the days it spoke especially to those who were considered to be outsiders. The house music dance scene was one of the most integrated and progressive spaces in the 1980s where gays, blacks, and other minority groups were able to dance together in a positive environment. House music helped to glue communities together it was like church for people who have fallen from grace and it´s influence on the development of the modern dance music culture is undeniable. Until today the idea of equality, unity, love, and respect is a widespread set of principles for the rave culture which developed out of house and retained a foothold on the underground scene but also across it´s borderlines all over the globe. The new NBAST Sub-label “We Must Protect This House” is a homage to the ethos of the Paradise garage and to the early days of house music, to Chicago and New York and the music culture itself with a more grown up approach … but with the same distinctive spirit as #datsoulthang

Back for his already third run on the label, Berlin-based producer Berobreo returns to Sundries to take care of the 2nd vinyl release in the catalogue.

Undeniably funky from start to finish, the 'What Can You Read On It's Thoughts' EP is all about those driving basslines and clean cut samples that have become synonymous with Berobreo's output over the past two years. While the A side, featuring the title track alongside another rather 'Delightful Affair', is probably the funkiest of the two with some serious old-school flavour sprinkled all over, the flip provides a bit more punch with 'Migrante' and especially 'Pina Colada' slowly taking this one into the early hours.

2nd Archivators records release embraces the charms of nudisco & uplifting deep house. Julian Sanza steps up first with Vincent Inc, delivering a driving chunk of dub-disco/deep house fusion rich in sparkling synthesizer lines, sun-kissed chords and his own rubbery post-punk bass.

Nigel Hayes is probably best known for his collaboration with Funk D'Void as Chaser, but as "Jabawaki" demonstrates, his solo work is just as impressive. It sees the UK producer move into sleek, pulsating deep afro latin grooves with modulated delayed space jazzy roads & double bass. DJ EFX aka Raul Recinos one of the most respected deep house producers since 1987.

He did best releases for label Strictly Rhythm and worked with producers like Aquatherium, Mateo & Matos, DJ Rasoul, Aural Imbalance and many more. Archivators records proud present his spiritual house track Gravity. EP bring unforgettable impressions & inspiration for mind, body & soul.

The 'Beat Mix' by Rio de Janeiro's sound wizard Carrot Green and long time family member of the label, speeds up the tempo, and puts together a groove of classic electro boogie vibes with a P-Funky bassline that sounds like a futuristic liaison between Afrika Bambaataa and George Clinton.

Increasing the UK house vibe with strong drums and a wobbly bassline, Noema's 'Acid Ghetto Style Remix' works the mysterious vocals of Anatta into a delicious hook and creates a highly animating and fun dancefloor monster.

An immediate follow up to their debut LP Center Parcs, the new EP pays fictional homage to a now deceased famous TV star, who instead on working on the screen, took up a new direction in making music. Once more replete with esoteric experimentalism, analogue jams, drums machines, synths, and a healthy dose of acid basslines, the production duo advance upon their aesthetic with a new extended EP of nostalgic, melancholic electro.

With Palmbomen II a.k.a. Kai Hugo, based out and working in Los Angeles, collaborations with Dutch-based partner Betonkust happen less frequently than they should - especially when you acknowledge that they do not use, or record to computers. When they do happen though, their distinctive sonic palette of saturated distortion, and warm melodic wavey house shines through. This time recorded in a bungle somewhere in the Dutch countryside, the two producers have created a concept record about Bart, a local hero and his imagined life in a parallel universe. In this reality, instead of making it in TV, Bart is a successful music producer, the track titles detailing his journey through this new and imagined life. 'Bart Is Alone Again' kicks off the record with its wistful melodies, and harmonic leads, before 'Underground Dance Floor' kicks in with its predominate bassline, and squelching deep-rooted, undercurrents of hardcore. Along Bart's odyssey there are moments for 'Bart's Jam', an early days Warp Records / Detroit belter; 'Rejected Demo Tape' a downbeat moment of anguish; ending with 'A Series of Bad Decisions,' in which the EP plays out to somber, yet harmonious conclusion.

After his debut on Wilson Records with his first LP, Sanso is back with another record which has been inspired by the US scene of Detroit and Chicago. If you like Theo Parrish, Kyle Hall, Jay Daniel and you are fan of early Dance Mania Records this is definitely something for you.

Deeply addicted to Disco, Soul and funky rare gems, Rubents Aka DjFrsh brings his raw groove from Buenos Aires and joins the Ondulé crew with a massive first EP.

ER004 sees Enclave Records really hit its stride with a four-track EP from Gessture. Having been tipped off about this talented newcomer by a close friend of the label, we were massively impressed by the demos we received and knew instantly that we wanted to be the ones to release their debut EP.

Though each of the tracks carry significant weight on their own, the EP delivers even greater satisfaction when consumed as a whole, straight-up house stylings of the deepest variety, trick two-step swing and a fresh take on old-school bleep and bass all lovingly bump against each other, effortlessly unified by the spacey sonics destined to become Gessture's calling card.

If a rewarding sense of cohesion is the first thing that strikes you about the EP, the second is likely to be just how versatile these tracks are. As with all the best things, there's pleasure to be had in placing it in different contexts and that's certainly the case here. Pitched up or down, feathered into something muscular or slipped out of towards something more contemplative, this one's got you covered.

A beautifully crafted deep techno EP. Bjika delivers a cascading expanse of atmospherics and rolling deep techno beats. Every moment that passes feels familiar, yet unique, in its own space and time. Quite simply this is Lush.

I came across this record by chance when I was shopping at my local record shop Palace Vinyl and Chris the owner was packing his bag for a gig that coming weekend. He was listening to bits on the shop sound system and in-between a couple of records in the stack that I was checking out on my headphones I caught little bit of the A side of this one. I immediately removed the cans and made him put the record on from start to @inish.

He told me his copy wasn’t for sale and when I looked on Discogs, as is often the case I found a few pricey copies and none of them available in England. I knew at that moment I would be attempting to reissue it myself. Fortunately Walker was pretty easy to @ind and now spends his time in Portugal building an amazing self sustaining echo oasis.

Kurz nach dem Neuwerk "Civic Jams" (u.a. "Album der Woche" bei ByteFM) legt das britische Duo Darkstar eine fantastische Remix-EP vor. Darauf transformiert der katalanische Top-Produzent John Talabot den Keytrack "Wolf" in einen Clubhit mit leichterem Touch, während Loraine James (Hyperdub) eine atemberaubend-spooky Dancefloor-Hymne vorlegt. Der zweite Keytrack "Jam" wird von Horsepower Productions (Tempa) mit 1990er Garage-Snippets im Tempo beschleunigt, während Dwayne Parris (Idle Hands) seinen Dubstep in spacige Weiten auflöst. Talabots finaler Dub dagegen ist eine düstere Post-Punk-Abstraktion als Kontrastpunkt zum Ausklang.

Kolja Gerstenberg serves up a funky four track lo fi House and Disco EP for Lumberjacks in Hell. The German drummer has previously released on Suol and Smile for a While.

En Transito is a document of the evolution of the Ambien Baby collaboration between D Tiffany and NAP. An ode to friendship and creative symbiosis. The tracks on this record showcase the project from its beginnings in 2015 to present day.

A term for listening to sounds within the body as a method of diagnosis is a poignantly perfect moniker for Portland producer Joel Shanahan’s most elusive and emotive electronic aura-reading solo alias: Auscultation. III arrives a full four years after its SILK predecessor, L’étreinte Imaginaire, delayed by tragedies too expansive to enumerate.

Throughout, these shadowy psychic rhythms percolated at the periphery, as both escape and exorcism. The songs share a smeared mood of longing and lament, foggy melodies gliding through low-lit spaces, dissipated dance floor ether spiraling like smoke under a streetlight. It’s a music of faces in the night and things unsaid, swaying at the threshold. What could have been and what will always be.

together. While Siggi introduces the A-side with “Queens”, a
90ies RnB-flavoured piano anthem and continues with
“Downtown Pattern”, a typical rough and rolling piece of
samplework with a twist, Jan keeps going on the B-side with
“Bring Me Back”, a very impulsive and funky floorfiller and
finally satisfies us with “Juno's Prophet”, a deephouse futureclassic from the books you can listen to endlessly. Both give
us their trademark sound which is all we want!...basement and
dancefloor approved!

Charmin Records has long been a formidable outlet for considered house tones, and on their latest V/A, the German label reminds us in emphatic fashion just what they're capable of. Featuring four delicious house cuts, this is an expertly crafted release with four tracks of different but equally delectable persuasion on show.
Opening up the release is the sounds of Wasserfall & Vaage's 'Orbits'. A sci-fi tinged cosmic workout, it's galactic properties are matched only by its sheer dancefloor ethos. A banging track that's perfect for peak time 'floors, it gets us underway with some panache.
Garben's 'Exploitation' is a different track altogether. An analogue-inspired jam, it features all the hallmarks of a classic Larry Heard jam. The perfect track with which to welcome in these warmer climes, this deep track is characterised by its fuzzy, melancholic ethos.
Next up is ØA°ll Ha°tes' 'øøø9'. A steely, industrial track with echoes of Shed at its core, it's both a warm and uncomfortable effort, but one that's thoroughly beguiling throughout.
Culminating the package is FM's 'Saturday Voices'. This one is decidedly more banging, with an unrelenting kick and a catchy-as-hell baseline at its core. A fine effort with which to sign out on, Charmin's latest is just like the label's name suggests: absolutely charming.

Gafacci is well known for notable artist collaborations, eclectic edits and his Asokpor productions. On this new four track EP, he steps out of familiar soundscapes, driven by his steady desire to ex-plore a more melodic side of his own production style. This led him to experimenting with the ,Lo-Fi' and infuse it with afrobeats as well as diverse tropical sounds.

A slightly rugged rhythm creeps out of the speakers as muffled drums build into a hypnotic wave of rough and fuzzy samples topped with layers of springy synth lines. The distorted essence makes it seem as if it was produced with the help of a cheap sampler and drum machine in some Chicago basement back in the days, but it's not. After pleasing us with loads of his disco cuts, HDSN is back with a more controversial record for our NBASTWAX005 . Dreamer' is a dusty four track beauty, that shows us another side of the young beat maker. HDSN´s music isn´t typically associated with lo-fi house, but if you are into the genre, you owe it to yourself to give it a listen. #datsoulthang

Mysterious Works return with a superb VA following the success of EP's from Krewcial & Jank earlier this year. The imprints attention to high-quality basement cuts is ever prominent, with a number of underground kingpins bringing the artistic vision throughout the EP.

Kicking off proceedings is underground heavyweight, Chicago Damn, who's 'Uncle Bob' provides an exquisite, low slung, downtempo slab of boogie fusion. Osaka's Kousuke Koga (aka Jank) makes his second appearance on the label, this time teaming up with Preston's finest Simba for a deep, brooding, soul-laden number, mysteriously entitled NLA. On the flip side, label co-owner Jonna steps up the intensity with a no-nonsense, loop-laden workout while fellow co-owner Darran P provide's an infectious rework of a lesser known 80s classic! GEORGI BARREL RHYME GOES ON (w/HODINI + KEREM AKDAG REMIXES) (01/02). Georgi Barrelis a producer whose reputation is enhanced with every passing release. A musician in the truest
sense of the word, Barrel is a sound obsessive with a penchant for knocking out quirky and unusual -but always enticing - house music.

From that perspective, his signing here to the Istanbul/Barcelona label, Petra Digital, is a snug fit. Flanked by some fittingly complimentary remixes by Hodini (of Max Graef and Glenn Astro's
Money $ex label) and Kerem Akdag (one of the Istanbul's most exciting new producers), this is a release that's characterized by good-time vibes throughout.

Opening the release is the sounds of the title track,'Rhyme Goes On', a discerning gem that metaphorically brings the listener to pastures new. An ethereal, dreamy cut, its dreamy soundscapes already has us longing of warmer climes. By the time the jacking vocal comes in to play, it's hard not to be charmed. Kerem Akdag's interpretation is no less emphatic. Akdag goes heavy on the synths, using them to give the remix its own sense of momentum. Pitching the vocal down considerably, he instead lets a stunning baseline and some clever
percussive tones lead the way.

The flip side kicks off with the other original, 'Recycling'.Clearly indebted to classic Dance Mania sounds, it sees Barrel deliver another almost effortlessly simple but devilishly catchy original. A majestic piece of peak-time house, it's rough-and-ready approach is sure to win it admirers aplenty. The release's closing gambit comes
courtesy of Hodini, who turns 'Recycling' on its head courtesy of an analogue-heavy jam that owes much to the dusty sounds of Moodymann and Theo Parrish. A gloriously melancholy cut, it's subtle but also striking enough to make an impression on the 'floor.

A classy example that sounds off an altogether exceptional release, Petra Digital's first release of 2018 is an an auspicious one indeed.

Imagine yourself chilling on the sunny sea coast during summertime, among mountains, salty air, cypresses and junipers, listening to dub and wistfully nodding your head to the rhythm. It is not a meditative mantra, though. It is the Odessa band Chillera, listening to which, you can easily move yourself to these landscapes.

Not only their creativity but the whole atmosphere of our conversation suggests such associations. Anya Brizhata, Polina Matskevich, and Nastya Marikutsa speak smoothly and confidently. Their speech sounds tranquil and connection with nature seems unquestionable. As if the environment and the rhythm of the southern resort town found in them the very embodiment they searched for.

Chillera started in Crimea where Anya and Polina worked together at a construction site. For three summer months after a hard day’s work, they played musical instruments, listened to hi-life and King Tubby, and enjoyed the beauty of the Crimean landscapes. Some workers wore jackets with “Chillers” labels of air conditioning systems, that turned into the band’s name “Chillera,” that signifies relaxation, meditation, and chill.

“One musician said that our band is a group of profanes (Rus. Profan – ignorant, incompetent). We thought that, in principle, it makes sense. Profan is like a ‘professional fan.’ So we made a track. We began to imitate some jazz-funk stuff and joke about it. That’s how the idea of Pro Fan. came about.”

The title might also be read as Pro Fun, or ‘About Fun,’ if transliterated. That’s where the unique charm of Chillera is, in their ability to find a positive meaning in the things far removed, transforming it into the source of their main strength. It is the music, which paints breezy summertime landscapes in our imagination.

Including the long waited tracks from Ricky Razu "Motions" & "Constantly" , bringing back the mighty deep acid house boy JABES & last but not least already a pre taste, the first track for now from Interplanetary Criminal . Cause there are plenty more coming.

Singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Desmond Coke's supremely rare, privately pressed, lo-fi, synth-soul fusion, Let's Chase The Sun is represented here in edited form. Painstakingly remastered from the original tapes, this self taught pianist, drummer and sax player condensed his musical experiences and dreams in to an opus on love and togetherness.

Desmond Coke alias 'Fatfingers' - named by fellow musicians due to improvisation and interpretation skills - began playing keyboards by ear at 15 and went on to a music career playing with the likes of Alton Ellis, Prince Fari, Barrington Levy, Dillinger, Don Cherry and Shara Nelson, as well as a gamut of the On-U Sound label's projects, including Creation Rebel, Dub Syndicate, Singers & Players and Mark Stewart + Maffia.

With an interest in reggae, dub, jazz, soul, meringue, gospel and garage, his sole album was a true fusion to create a brand new sound. Composed, arranged and produced by Coke, he worked with an array of seasoned musicians, including his own sisters Winifred (percussion / vocals) and Paulette Coke (percussion / DX-7 & M1 synthesisers).

Pressed on his own Saterlite Entertainments in 1989, Coke describes the album's purpose, "to get the message across to have focus, ambition, to dream and 'chase the sun'. That relationships are important, 'I need somebody' and naturally the chemistry is 'you and me'. Great relationships are about friendships and that it's ok to 'mesmerise a friend'. The most natural thing is to enjoy each other's company and to 'make a love child'. These good intentions and meanings, where love is the key." Some thirty years later Desmond's thoughts are as resonant today as then - Let's Chase The Sun.

Emotional sounds just right in time for the summer parties on the beach. Just pure melo keys drowning in dreamy pads & driving drums with hazy hats. Put your hands on this one fast, cause there are only 300.

Falcon Black Ops returns to UTTU with more groove based but hard hitting techno jams. Recalling a tribal sound, not heard since the late 90s, the aesthetic is updated with more modern production values. Relentless, and aimed purely at the floor, these cuts are essential for all phunk edged, tool based DJs.

Warsaw-based Bartosz Kruczyński returns as Earth Trax to Phonica’s main label, following on from last year’s well received ‘L’Avventura’ 12”, this time in collaboration with regular production partner Newborn Jr.

The pair have created a string of brilliant records together, such as ‘Sax & Flute’ on Rhythm Section, ‘Mirage’ on Les Yeux Orange and ‘If You’ on Shall Not Fade. Bartosz also has a growing solo discography under his own name, along with a variety of aliases such as The Phantom, Pejzaz, and of course; Earth Trax.

The A side here leads with the title track ‘Truth’, in which rose-tinted reminiscences of the golden early 90s era of House music echo, with dubbed out diva vocals cascading over wide snares, 303 acid lines and that almighty bassline, appearing through shimmering delays and reverbs in a vision of bygone nights at the Hacienda or Shelleys. Next up is the ‘Back Alley mix’ or a traditional dub mix - everything you need from the main mix but less vocal and more plays on THAT bassline with dub effects.

On the flip, as its title suggests, ‘Old Way, New Way’ bridges the gap, combing the same bassline driven Chicago house stylings with the deep new age textures that have characterised previous releases from the pair, flutes and pads floating sweetly above jacking drum grooves, reminiscent of mid-90s Italo House. Finally, ‘And Then’ fulfils the transformation, with ethereal late night pads enveloping a more lofi rhythm section and more flute for a more subtle, end of night Don Carlos ‘Alone’ feel.

Oblique Russian sound strategist Natalia Salmina’s latest forking path portfolio as Atariame, Voiceless, arose in the wake of a dissociative relocation to Moscow, where she found herself adrift amidst a manic metropolis, alone in a skyscraper staring out at trees: “It made me lose faith in my ability to communicate, in my ideas about life.” Days without speaking turned to weeks. Even in private she felt estranged from her voice, and soon ceased singing.

For solace she turned to her Waldorf Blofeld, mining its panoramic frequencies to craft a shivering suite of futurist-noir nocturnes and rhythmic noise vignettes, equal parts exorcism and manifestation, desperation and delirium. Track titles hint at the headspace – “Outside At 5 AM,” “Same Thought All Day,” “Stay Late” – mirroring the music’s mood of hoods up, headphones on, wandering empty urban tunnels under flickering streetlights. Enigmatically, Salmina slips in a sliver of spectral voice on the intro and exit songs (“Breathe Exercise” and “Deconstruction”), framing them as induction into and escape from the cryptic isolationist condition of the rest of the collection. Platform 23 returns with the reissue of songs from Canadian project, Vini Vidi Vici. With just one privately pressed mini-album in 1989 that bridged the gap between the later years of New Wave and the early vestiges of House, the music included in this edited EP highlights a thriving Montreal scene in its heyday.

Vini Vidi Vici was created out of two different music backgrounds. Paul Klopstock was a classical pianist, while Mario Langlois was a DJ, self-taught musician and radio producer, who came together when both worked at the underground arts / club Le Lezard. Starting in 1986 the space mixed painting, drag shows and bands alongside the latest alternative sounds, from Rap to New Beat, Electro to Acid Jazz.

As House and Techno started to filter through, Mario (aka Ave Mario) and the other resident DJs laid the ground of what was to come. From this Paul and Mario collaborated from late 1987 through in to 1988 and created the mini-album, however this EP concentrates on the duo's self penned work.

Recorded at Oliver Sudden Production studio, the A side is made up the raw House of 'Club Stuff" and Native American meets avant percussion of 'Vini Vidi Vici'. Showing a confidence and experimentation beyond their years, the two tracks production and all round hypnotic danceability, highlight why original copies are so prized (and expensive).

The B side follows with two tracks recorded in Mario's home closet studio. Lo-fi to the max and improvised, the no wave / world beat experience of title cut, 'Ou Sommes Nous' and the proto-electro-wave of 'AA HHH' are like something again, a mesmerising fusion and quite unique.

Self pressed, the project ventured to live performance and (sadly unreleased) remix work, before the partners went their separate ways, however this archival document can be seen as their own special conquest.

Marquis Hawkes kicks off 2019 debuting on UTTU with 4 romantic house gems aimed at the mind, body and soul of the dance floor.

After teaming up with label boss Coco Bryce early last year, Dead Man's Chest aka Alex Eveson goes in for his first solo release on Diamond Life.

Drum Shanty is definitely the more rowdy one. Going straight for the throat with a ragga chant and gritty lofi drums, it'll surely get any party started in no time. It's rough and rugged, but still retains Eveson's trademark subtle style and flair.

Blue Mountain is a whole other beast. Its low pitched breaks and quirky melody make it sound more like a double tempo trip hop tune than the junglist skank outs you might expect from Dead Man's Chest.

This time ER welcome the Norwegian duo Chiraya for their first solo EP. This sheer beauty contains 4 raw house analog tracks that were all played/recorded live and crafted in the spirit of the 90's

Vinylization of the recent home fi cassette (originally released on the Australian Brierfirld Flood Press label) by this magnificent New Zealand singer/songwriter. We were never able to score a copy of the tape, despite the fact we released Maxine’s last LP, Silk FTR 410), so we figured we would perform the public service of making it generally available to the whole wide world. That’s just the kind of guys we are!

Recorded in stark and simple terms, home fi represents Ms. Funke working mostly with just acoustic guitar accompaniment. And it’s a classic. Most often, I’m put in mind of the Dandelion era recordings of Britain’s Bridget St. John. There’s a plainspoken quality to the songs and an equally straight forward approach to the musical bits that may not be indicative of the scope of Maxine’s musical art (which has lots of space for odd noises and techniques), but it sounds just gorgeous.

Hard to imagine anyone who actually likes music not falling for the sound of home fi. But hey, there’s a clown born every minute. Not you of course. But look around sometime.

Daughters Of The Sun's singer / guitarist Nick Koenigs has been toiling solo as Filthy Huns for a couple quiet years at this point, layering grease-stained drum machines with badlands guitar, mirage keys, and desolate vocals, alternately broke-down and road-burned. Over the course of his first two releases, Jeunesse 7 wants to tell the tale of the 6 Jeunesses that preceded him.

'Hobbies galore', an effort to describe the lives of Jeunesse 5 and 6, is the logical follow-up to Nividic. These lives happened to be longer than the previous ones; successes and failures led to fuller, richer and more exciting chapters. The two sides of the tape patiently narrate a journey through different landscapes and let you follow the two Jeunesses as they spend their days with various hobbies, from calmer, soothing ones to more active and exhausting ones.

The tracks are charmingly lo-fi and warm; the beats slow and crackly.

The entire tape was made using a cursed Roland Sp404 sx, filled with broken beats, warped vocal samples and playful synths and glitches. The sounds range between meditative ambient, lo-fi beats to study to and jungle. The composition is relaxing and zen, but in the meantime will give you enough quirky details to hold on to.

Enclave Records returns for its second release, following the well-received sell out debut from Denmark's Bioroot.

ER002 sees the label drop the debut release from covert operator Moutier. Personal fans of previous work under their original moniker, Enclave jumped at the chance to release the first four choice cuts to see the light of day from a selection of tracks intriguingly labelled 'new project'.

MOU001 commences proceedings with a serious statement of intent. Built around a driving, hypnotic loop, a heavily syncopated groove purposefully hustles its way in and out of a continually evolving filter envelope. Having been extensively road-tested over the last few months, the track's ability to move a floor has been well established and a future as a long-standing secret weapon beckons.

If the EP's opening track focuses intently on creating a heads-down atmosphere, MOU002 effortlessly opens up the horizon, serving equally well as an early-doors mood setter or a light through the shutters moment. Brittle hats concatenate as ethereal pads ebb and flow, the touchy-feely bass frequencies adding to an overwhelming sense of wide-eyed innocence.

MOU003 raises the temperature with a grainy groove of the highest order. Taking its retro-futurist cues from classic Motor City creations of the past, brutal bottom-end pressure bumps up against layer upon layer of raw synthesis, creating a fevered sense of urgency only heightened by the relentless percussion workout.

MOU004 seamlessly rounds out proceedings, fusing timeless house sensibility with a sound design very much of the present. Its tactile melodics and insistent vocal refrain draw you in, as the insistent bassline snakes its way through murky drums. The breakdown comes on as cool as a coastal breeze before stepping back off into the night for one final foray.

Ace ambidextrous addendum to Brandon Knocke's latest limited vinyl offering, Midnight Companion crossfades a dreamer's delight pirate mix of unreleased originals, flowing through glow-fi house, balcony bump, decadent noir, and assorted velvet rope rhythms. Both sides slip and slide with signature Body San swing, out late with nothing to lose, skipping steps up to the roof, a 36-minute 360 skyline of magic hour motion and distant city lights. Bring yourself, bring a friend.

In fact, for a huge proportion of us, acid kicked off this sweaty, painful, yet incredibly fulfilling journey. The 2 originals by Dircsen utilize the 303 in different ways - the opener 'Beyond Collapsing Silence' sounds like an instant acid house classic with its energetic drums & dreamy atmosphere, whilst 'Depth Scan' slows it down, focusing more on hypnosis. Rounding off the 3-track EP is an idiosyncratic remix of 'Depth Scan' by L.I.E.S. legend, Florian Kupfer. A dubbed out original gets well and truly saturated.

Berlins premiere Bass Collective continue their march into history with yet another TKO vinyl from regular contributor Bridge Guy. His 4 originals are joined by an absolute hammer of Deepness from Jesse Bru who steps up to remix Psilocybin.

Bridge Guy is exploring Deeper sounds in this EP and Isopropyl opens proceedings with a trip of clattering percussion and synth work, all with a laid back slant. Deep enough for the heads but with a sound that just pulls you in.

The theme is somewhat continued in Lone Frenchman, but where the previous track takes a step to the left, The Lone Frenchman turns right and gets his rhythmic jam on. Tightening up the groove and laying the dancefloor to waste.

Psilocybin really pulls the bass and groove centre stage, bouncy and warm and with a whole load of rhythm in the boot. This one is for the turning point right in the middle of the night where things start to get a little more freaky.

Cheese on Toast, drops things back a touch. Thick tones and a more relaxing vibe perfect for losing yourself in, as the last of Bridge Guys originals rounds out a remarkably vibey EP.

Closing out the package we have Jesse Bru's storming remix of Psilocybin, easily up their with some of the best lo-fi House of the past few years. Jesse rings his own vocal work and really heats things up. Peak time killer.

Adding and connecting the bits, dots, hats and kicks once again, rtct.records invite two Italians to join forces for a shared EP. It features three tracks per artist and it's got everything from Ambient over Lo-fi House, Acid, Techno and even Garage. Both of the artists have been making music under different names for a long time now but this release marks the launch of their new monikers: Introducing DJ Chupacabra from the mountainous north of Italy and Crisco from mediterranean Sicily. This is where the Surf & Turf theme of the EP comes into play.
With this release rtct.records are taking a step forward and broaden their output after the well acclaimed deep house/disco tinged releases by Leo Woelfel, Demuja and Laroze. Artwork by Gus Nobel.

This one rounds off the nervous and flippant, overwhelming energy of Frag Maddin's beat and chord worx while bowing down to his funk, rap and house-routines. Bullish is an agile fighter. Beware - or you miss some of the punches coming in!

A2: Teehaus
This ceremony churns the goods from the very depths. Classic house in a raw, bassy, dirty warehouse manner. Seering vocals keeping the tension and demanding synths that slowly but surely unfold th energy - like boiling water opens the teabud!

B1: Point 0
A track that serves a basic backbone to the array of tunes here. Classic house, bowing down to Kakudo's Records beloved early nineties. Every sound a puncturing pressure point again. Machine grooves hammer home the message of this EP that has no fillers but offers raw fun(k) throughout!

B2: De Wizard
Quirky, flirtatious, somewhat trancy chords fly on high. While reminiscent Detroit sounds feed your brain and the bass tickles your guts. De Wizard's recipe is to conjure things in time. Take yours and observe, for building up tension is clearly one of Frag Maddin's best tricks!

Apparel Wax is about to hit your summer hard with the 5th gem of the collection! Four tracks delivering our approach to this sound but always from different perspectives, which helps us to maintain that fresh energy we need to be able to keep on doing what we do. 005A1 with its funk attitude, powerful chords and stunning vocals creates a proper banger; that one tune we just can't stop shaking our hips and to. 005A2 is such a perfect blend of different feelings: are the strings a bit 80's Is it just a new version of that kind of disco music Instead it's just a mixture of sensations perfectly coexisting, brought together by the Apparel Wax matrix that just makes it a mature interpretation of a big musical influence. 005B1 features a piano loop that is a great tribute to classic house music and keeps on dialoguing with catchy vocals. The track elevates the spirit of the happy tune to a next level, leaving not only a taste of summer but a sense of coolness. 005B2 played after the first three hitting tracks, with its saxophone and synthesizers is a percussive, atmospheric and fulfilling way to end the record's narrative in perfect fashion; a record that displays an uncanny array of house/disco music performances. It is almost one year since the 1st one. We couldn't think about how good the response would have been from the listeners. So we'd like to thank you all for the support: it will push us to try and keep the level as higher as we can!

Baltra's Rearview EP is back by popular demand! NYC resident and upstart producer Baltra has humbly created worldwide buzz for his saturated, NY/NJ House-inspired, RnB-inflected jams via a series of YouTube-only music videos, alongside self-released cassettes and tracks for releases on Craigie Knowes and upcoming on Lobster Theremin's Of Paradise sublabel. This blissed out set of tracks had a limited press on Baltra's own 96 and Forever label, and now inaugurates the birth of IDNK.

Smile for a while's sublabel - All That Jelly comes up with another sampler containing dancefloor-oriented House Music with oldschool flavour and some black magick.

Frankfurt local heroes C-Rock and Franksen drop a percussive House bomb with some well-known samples. Please don't sue!

Jesse Para is a youngster from Kassel who's doing high-profile parties in Berlin's Prince Charles with his LuvThang crew. - That Luv is his debut tune - a reminiscence of 90s Jersey House. Bangin' stuff!

Fonso is a producer from London. He used to run the Keep it Moving nights in Brighton. His tek-edge House tune is a floorfiller for the early morning hours.


Jacopo Sb from the greater Rome area in Italy delivers a slice of Lo-fi House that sounds a lot like early Mosaic stuff or many of the Bluetrain releases. Anyhow it's his very own kind of style. Hypnotic and powerful - new school Italo House.

The start of 2018 sees Enclave Records chalk up its third release and to say we are excited about this one could well be the understatement of the entire year!

As anyone who's been following his progress will already know, Harrison BDP has really gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months. With a slew of Grade A releases on the likes of Artesian Sounds, Music is Love and Shall Not Fade, as well as countless gigs across Europe and beyond, Harrison is rapidly approaching that milestone in any producer's journey - the point at which a listener feels they know who the artist is without having heard the track before.

Harrison's opener wastes little time in firmly establishing the EP's groove-centric core and, much like the centre of a star - otherwise known as the Convection Zone' - this one's hotter than the sun. While rock-solid rims set the track up, the irrepressible bass hook and nagging hats provide just the right amount of swung jazz flavour to keep those ears tweaking. But don't get too comfortable - just wait for the additional layer of woozy percussion to come staggering in like it's gate-crashed someone else's track. This is one seriously solid cut.

While A2 may not have a title, it certainly isn't lacking in terms of identity and sense of purpose and demonstrates that Harrison's influences are deeper and broader than you might first expect. While the bottom end is imbued with a generous lick of acid, the submerged melodics manage to suggest a touch of classic Marizio-esque dub styling. Things take an unexpected but welcome turn when a gorgeous arepeggio emerges and lifts the sonic gaze to an altogether higher plane, before the programming strips back down again for that all-important heads down section.
Enclave Records is committed to showcasing emerging artists, irrespective of where they currently are on their flightpath, and in Garth James we're adamant we've unearthed a rough diamond.
Disturbingly youthful to be turning out tracks as authentic, yet as well-judged as these, our Antipodean maestro knocks it straight out of the park with the absolute animal that is Dear Lizzie'. While the underpinnings of the track undoubtedly bang hard, Garth's synth work lends the track an arresting fragility and mournfulness that rewards the attentive listener and it adds up to an intoxicating mix you'll want to keep coming back to. This one's been extensively road tested and the look on the floor's faces at the one minute mark (you know, that look) never ceases to make us grin.

Garth's closer should leave you in no doubt that we've barely scratched the surface with this guy. While weighty toms work away in harness with frazzled percussion, the star of the show is what can only be described as a knackered church organ - lending the track a solemn, almost hymnal quality that allows us to draw breath as the EP draws to a close. Though there's an undeniable air of melancholia, a feeling only heightened by the sounding of a single, folorn, guitar chord, there's an also a life-affirming quality that hints at the hope of what's yet to come.

Recorded in an ageing holiday park during off-season, Center Parcs is the debut LP by Dutch artists Betonkust & Palmbomen II; a conceptual, musical-tristesse full of lo-fi harmony, and fanciful, psychedelic-coloured modulations, with an undercurrent of saturated, outsider-house beats, all recorded to tape. With a shared passion for experimental music, and gnarled Dutch electro, the duo have crafted an LP of esoteric-electronic-pop, reflective of the time the two spent holed-up in isolation, in the out-of-time Center Parcs setting.

Palmbomen II a.k.a. Kai Hugo, is the electronic-focused, alter-ego of Palmbomen. Existing in his secondary iteration, Palmbomen II gained notoriety for his alternative, warped style, having released two LPs, both receiving critical acclaim. Originally from the Netherlands and now living in Los Angeles, his musical relationship with Betonkust stretches back several years, leading to a unique live, and studio-working symbiosis. Meanwhile Betonkust — hailing from the westerly Dutch shores — has been notching up kudos points with his Detroit-like analogue sound. Having found their studio-synchronicity, the duo have already notched up a couple of select EP releases, plus a featured track on Dekmantel's 10 year anniversary series.

'It's a weird environment, but we like it,' Palmbomen II says about Center Parcs, where the album was recorded. Originally built in the 70s, Center Parcs De Eemhof in Zeewolde provides a pseudo-tropical environment for vacationing families, with an ageing, ersatz jungle; its faux decor gradually fading to grey. Recorded during the winter, the two Dutch men took-up home in one the park's chalets with select hardware — predominately synths and drum machines — and recorded all of their progress to tape. Being the only occupants in the melancholic, somber settings, the duo made an LP that was reflective of the unpretentious surroundings. 'Some people think it's ironic, but this is not a tongue-in-cheek joke,' Hugo says about the record. 'There's sadness here that people try not to hide.'

Everything on Center Parcs was recorded on hardware, in the moment; 'real jams' as the guys describe them. No computers. It was through this in-the-present-process that led to the recondite, lo-fi shoegaze record, reflective of their shared influences — from the likes of I-F. through to Cocteau Twins. Opener '24x33', has a reverberated VHS aesthetic; 'De rust die je zocht' ('The peace you were looking for') sounds like an angelic score to a forgotten family game show; 'Nintendo Pantera' a solemn, upbeat Detroit-retroffited-vapourware melody. The album is a follow up to the Center Parcs EP - the producer's debut cassette release on Canadian label 1080p in 2016. This will be the first time that these tracks have been made widely available, and on vinyl release, and is seen by both artists as a chance to expand on the moment that they captured together - to share the beautiful-tristesse with all.

For his second release, House Running proposes a new various artists EP with Hyas, Chinau & D-Nite on the bill. Hyas opens this EP with two tracks that blended 909 hats and disco loops that will remind you the 90's house music spirit. Chinau brings the sun with his smooth and funky track and D-Nite closes this Ep with a percussive and acid track to bring us in the deepness.

Re Discovery represent a slightly different shade from the usual path that Matthias has been following by far, this time a feeling that evokes Lo-Fi beats towards deep/house inspirations. Since the beginning has always existed an idea of creating a "subculture" related to the initial project Superluminal developed in 2017 in Berlin, Re Discovery is considered as an experiment to re program elements which were adapted and developed considerably, particularly referring to surgical breaks and deep twisted drum patterns.

For the first release of 2018 we welcome Harry Wolfman to the Outplay family!
Having followed his work for the last couple of years we're very happy to have him deliver this varied 4-tracker, which very well might be some of his best work to date.

The A side starts off with 'Hitch'. A warm and dusty groover driven by rhodes, a rubbery bassline and a thudding kick. A lovely string piece in the middle of the track slowly builds up to the break for it to return to the head nodding groove soon after. The added percussion gives it a nice lively feel as well.

'Pigs in Blankets' sets the pace a little slower, but the funk goes on. The track incorporates 80's style samples with some excellent synth and chord work. Perfect for a warm up session.

Starting on the B side Harry takes it up a notch with 'Nemoto', which will be a definite stomper for the dance floor. It takes you on a 9 minute journey of rolling bumpy basslines, screaming distortion leads and hypnotising synth work.
Finally, to ease things off, STS-136 (Final Call) comes in at a slow 88 bpm pace as a perfect closure to the EP. Dreamy pads, piano licks and a calming marimba melody combined with a beat which feels like a warm blanket will make you wander off for a moment...

B side goes raw with Interstate's warehouse dreams while Strip Steve ends the record on a spectacular note.

Every tune of the 12" is deeply inspired by the origins of the mid 90s melodic Jungle & D'n'B movement, namely by the greats of that era: Peshay, Source Direct, LTJ Bukem and Photek.

Ray & Karl have worked together on a number of projects over the last year, the most recent one being a split 12" on 'The Other Planet' of Lyon. While Ray has been connected to the Lo-Fi House scene and acts like Baltra, DJ Boring and DJ Seinfeld, Karl has been more low-key, producing music that's relaxed and organic, mainly inspired by naature and the musical movement around Frits Wentink and Max Graef.

For this release they worked closely together, decided to stray off their usual paths and combined their different styles to form a well-rounded record.
'Make Me Feel So Good' does just what its name implies. With a rising pad chord, a syncopated break and a soothing vocal, it is the perfect opener for this vinyl.
The second and name-giving track of this EP, 'Project Chicago', samples the surely most-often heard piece of Brian Eno and transforms it to a relaxing yet uplifting track that takes you back to the days where you could easily make a cup of tea while you waited for a website to load.

The B-side unfolds with the most acute drum-programming on this release and a fairylike lead vocal, moving you to 'Feel It'.

To conclude this 4-tracker, Karl delivers a very interesting mix of organic Arps and nature sounds and punchy breaks. The deep subbass-line will resonate through your whole once you hear this one on the dancefloor.

Having first heard their music via the Palace x Bronze skate video a year or so ago, we did a bit of digging and it turned out to be by a duo called Dima Disk, one half of whom was an old Glasgow pal called Ragnar and Robert Nikolajev from Tallinn's legendary club Lekker. You may have heard their recent ripper on Porridge Bullet. Having been fans of the shit coming out of Estonia for a good few years and also having a thing for releasing music from our Glasgow connections we felt that this needed to come out as a RAD 12".
