RATTUS' furious sophomore album from 1984 reissued in May Rattus is one of the most legendary Finnish hardcore punk bands. Formed in 1978 and split up in 1988, Rattus returned in 2001 and are setting venues ablaze to this day. Uskonto on vaara was originally released on Poko Rekords in 1984. It's a furious album with nine killer songs; an aggressive and intense ride, a true classic in its genre. Svart Records reissued the album in 2012 and after fourteen years it's about time to bring it back to the streets with black and limited color vinyl editions. Ray Barrettos Acid ist mehr als nur ein Debütalbum – es ist ein Moment, in dem sich die Energie der New

entwickelt sich von einem reduzierten, treibenden Groove zu einem explosiven Percussion-Feuerwerk. Songs
wie „A Deeper Shade of Soul“ verbinden Latin und Soul auf eine Weise, die damals wie heute sofort zündet,
während „El Nuevo Barretto“ direkt zu Beginn klar macht, mit welcher Selbstverständlichkeit Barretto
seinen eigenen Stil definiert. Mit „Espíritu Libre“ endet das Album in einer fast schon hypnotischen,
atmosphärischen Reise, die die afro-kubanischen Wurzeln noch einmal eindrucksvoll in den Fokus rückt.
Acid ist damit nicht nur ein Klassiker, sondern ein prägender Soundtrack einer ganzen Ära – roh, lebendig
und voller ikonischer Momente.

Missing Link was produced by longtime ally Niek Van Den Driesschen and recorded at Far Out Sound Studios in Rotterdam - the Dutch city where the band's bassist Marrit Meinema and drummer Leon Harms reside as singer Jeroen and guitarist Peter continue to live further north in Groningen, where the band started out. It was mastered by Melbourne-based Mikey Young, who works mostly with garage, psych and punk (Amyl and the Sniffers, Preoccupations, The Chats)

Das akustische Instrumental-Album "Daniel" erweitert die Welt jenseits der Betonschluchten und Überführungen von LA hin zum pulsierenden, brodelnden Meer des Lebens, das Mexiko-Stadt ist, bis hin zur kargen, hügeligen Landschaft von Red Cloud, Nebraska. An jedem dieser Orte war der ständige Begleiter eine Nylonsaiten-Akustikgitarre - mit einer eigenen, weitgereisten Geschichte. "Es war die Gitarre meines Vaters", erinnert sich Danny Garcia, der Mann hinter dem Reverend. "Vor ein paar Jahren habe ich herausgefunden, dass sie auch meinem Großvater gehörte." Seit seiner Kindheit allgegenwärtig, hat die mexikanische Akustikgitarre für Garcia mit jedem Jahr an Bedeutung gewonnen. Stunden um Stunden des Spielens, Reisens und des Einhauchens von Leben in ihr Griffbrett haben sie sowohl zu einem Werkzeug als auch zu einem Talisman gemacht. "Da ist diese offensichtliche Abstammungslinie, die Familie und die Verbindung_ diese Verbindung durch die Geschichte", vertraut Garcia an. "Es ist sozusagen das einzige Familienerbstück, das ich habe." In der letzten Zeit hat all dieses Spielen (oder Herumklimpern, wie Danny es nennt) Reverend Baron dazu gebracht, einem Klang nachzujagen - einem, der die Ursprünge der Gitarre Lügen straft. Es ist ein Klang, den er von Zeit zu Zeit hörte, und als es darum ging, "Daniel" aufzunehmen, war dieser Klang sein wahrer magnetischer Nordpol (oder Südpol, sozusagen). Wenn du dich durch "Daniel" hörst, wirst du Anklänge an die Gitarrentöne von Antonio Bribiesca und Luiz Bonfa hören. Wenn du tiefer gräbst, wirst du auch die Grundzüge der Gitarrentexturen von Townes Van Zandt und Nick Drake erkennen. Ohne deren Virtuosität in seinem Spiel für sich zu beanspruchen, ergänzen die Seele und die Verletzlichkeit, die zu Markenzeichen der ersten beiden Reverend-Baron-Alben geworden sind, diese Einflüsse. Es liegt eine Wärme in "Daniel", die in diesen akustischen Meditationen im Mittelpunkt steht. Von kurzen, fließenden Momenten wie "El Monte" und "How Glad" bis hin zum hoch-einsamen "Muchacho" schweben die Songs wie Cumuluswolken über einem tiefblauen Himmel.

Next up in our Cuban Classics series, one of the jewels of record label Areito’s extensive and sought-after catalogue. Ricardo Eddy Martinez’s Expreso Ritmico from 1978 is a prized album fusing funk, disco, and orchestrated influences with Afro-Cuban percussion, Latin breaks, and lush vocal harmonies.

Whilst maintaining its distinctive Cuban identity, Expreso Ritmico is one of the more American / Western-influenced Cuban titles of the time drawing inspiration from jazz funk, disco, and library music. The album was directed, written, and orchestrated by keyboardist and drummer Ricardo Eddy Martinez, who was also the mastermind behind the orchestration of the Los Reyes 73 album (that was recently reissued by Mr Bongo). Martinez would later go on to work with international musicians and singers such as Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, Chick Corea, and many more, whilst also working as a sound engineer in the US.

Produced by Adolfo Pichardo, who worked on much of Areito’s output, Expreso Ritmico is packed with gold. The opening title track carries a loose, breezy Latin-disco-funk vibe that breaks into a brilliant Afro-Cuban workout. ‘Que La Tristeza Se Fue’ was expertly sampled and looped by Jazzanova on their 2008 song ‘Look What You Are Doing To Me, featuring Phonte from the hip hop group Little Brother. Elsewhere, ‘Tambo Iya’ has an Afro-funk, Soul Makossa-esque groove, while tracks such as ‘Te Quedas’, ‘Mi Conga Es La Que Es’ and ‘La 132’ run with a heavy pulsating Latin-funk sound. Head to the sultry psych funk of ‘Este Tumbao’ for a spacey journey that blends and morphs through genres.

Deconstructed techno-dub classical piano, by exploratory composer Richard Pike. A suite of pieces for piano and texture loops, focused on real-time composition & an exploration of cassette sound sources, minimalism, harmony and the ghostly acoustic ephemera that emerges from the loop material. Intimate, granular and dust-covered.

After the passing of the late great Ryuchi Sakamoto during winter in early 2023 Richard Pike gravitated towards the piano as a daily ritual of improvisation, or what he prefers to call ‘real-time composition’.
Pike’s initial approach was an interest in a repeated practice, finding earthly textural tape loops against a daily commune with the piano. Very quickly a suite of pieces formed.

The process of collecting loops and beds in his studio the morning, then moving downstairs to a 1950s Eavestaff Minipiano in the living room, to record melodic and harmonic expressions over the bed of textures, with and against the flow. This process was pure and impulsive, leaving editing and scrutiny until later.

The textures are inspired by the likes of Romeo Poirier, Deepchord, early music concrete and a nostalgia for the ‘clicks and pops’ era that inspired Pike’s early experiments in his Warp Records-affiliated band PVT.

The debut album from online sensation Ricky Montgomery, Montgomery Ricky, turns 10 on April 1st of this year. It has racked up over 2.2 billion streams thanks to Platinum indie-pop hits "Mr. Loverman" and "Line Without a Hook," and both songs are set to hit 1 billion streams each before the end of 2026. Since blowing up on TikTok during the pandemic, Montgomery Ricky has averaged 1M streams per day. This year, Ricky is set to release Montgomery Ricky +3, an upcoming EP of previously unreleased songs from the Montgomery Ricky era of music that Ricky has revisited.
This release features "Oh My My", a song that features the same second verse from "Line Without a Hook", and the cover art for the release will be sketches of the album that are previously unreleased.

Sirens" resonate a lot in 2026. "Sirens" are everywhere right now, in the many fields of the human reign, sounding at its highest level ever... Pioneering Swiss DJ and electronic music producer Ripperton joins forces with Berlin-based singer, composer and passionate aural storyteller Joy Frempong (OY) to create a beautiful and deeply moving piece of electronic music. And after three years in the making, “Sirens” finally emerges. The roots of this collaboration however reach back more than a decade. Around 2010, Ripperton first encountered Joy’s first album with Oy after hearing it on Swiss national radio Couleur 3. Shortly after, he saw her playing live — a moment he describes as pure magic. So inspired, Ripperton approached her label with a request to remix her music. The label agreed, and in exchange, Joy promised to feature on one of his future productions. What began as a mutual artistic gesture quietly planted a seed and eventually, pretty much fifteen years later, that seed has fully grown. “Sirens” began as one of Ripperton’s nocturnal modular jams — exploring and playing around with pulsating sequences, pure analogue sound textures and fluid, hypnotic structures. The track was then elevated to an entirely new level by Joy Frempong’s deep, evocative lyrics and her celestial voice, transforming the song into something haunting and profoundly human. The song also grew on a shared work ethos rooted in patience, trust and refinement. A slow process, shaped by intuition and feeling rather than pressure. Listening over noise. The result is an emotionally charged composition that blurs the line between inner reflection and collective awareness — a sonic response to the sirens of our time.

“I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom” is one of Robert Johnson’s most iconic recordings, later made even more famous by Elmore James’ legendary interpretation,
which helped establish the signature “broom style” in blues music. The track brilliantly translates boogie-woogie piano bass patterns into a single-guitar
performance, showcasing Johnson’s extraordinary technique.

“Dead Shrimp Blues” is often interpreted as a metaphor for sexual impotence, with Johnson’s emotionally resonant vocal delivery adding a sense of haunting
emptiness to the track.

“Come On In My Kitchen” remains one of Johnson’s most covered and celebrated songs. Said to draw inspiration from the Mississippi Sheiks’ hit “Sitting On
Top Of The World,” the song’s repeating guitar phrases create an unmistakable sense of melancholy and depth.

“They’re Red Hot,” on the other hand, stands out as one of Johnson’s most unusual recordings, performed in a lively hokum style. Featuring brisk, jive-inflected
guitar and Johnson’s rapid-fire vocal delivery, the track has even been described as a possible precursor to early rap music.

Robert Johnson was an American blues musician whose 1936 and 1937 recordings heavily influenced many, many future generations of artists. Despite the fact his recording career spanned a mere seven months, he is universally recognized as a master of the Delta blues style, one of the earliest-known styles of blues emerging from the Mississippi delta in the early twentieth century.

This second compilation of the King of the Delta Blues collects sixteen recordings previously available on the 78 rpm format and includes recordings of two Johnson songs that have since become blues standards: "Sweet Home Chicago" and "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom." In contrast to the deeply emotive songs released on the 1961 album, many of the tracks on this volume display Johnson's lighter side. In 2003 the record was ranked #424 on Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Whether he really needed to sell his soul to the devil at the crossroads to reach these great heights, we'll never know...
