Pop & Rock Vinyl New Releases - News

Über In This Moment:

After the inevitable success of L'Hiver des crêtes (aka season 1 of their major new project celebrating 40 years of approximate punk), Ludwig Von 88 are back for new adventures in a second season entitled Le Printemps du Pogo. This second vinyl album (of the four planned this year) is this time illustrated by LauL (iconic graphic designer of the 80s - Bérurier Noir, Ludwig Von 88, Mylène Farmer, Patrick Topaloff).

Fourteen tracks packed with love, joy, shitty jobs, noisy neighbours, flowery pogos, fried chicken, unsanitary dungeons and a negative carbon footprint.

There are some good traditional Keupon numbers, but also ska, reggae, yodelling (Yodel to Hell), a universal anthem of destructive punk (Youplapunk), swing, the follow-up to Fistfuck Playa Club (New Club) and Kaliman (Kaliman saves the world), and the long-awaited conclusion, 38 years later, to their interstellar hit J'ai tué mon père (J'ai sauvé mon père). Or the hit Let it burn, which we'll probably be able to sing along to during the long hot days to come.

Thirteen of these songs have already been released on the internet (at a rate of one a week, because the Ludwigs like periodicity, and that's why they keep coming back and coming back) but the fourteenth track, Casques Rouges, is completely new to the galaxy.

So here's something to liven up the weeks of holiday that are just around the corner. On the beach, in the mountains or in the forest, approximate punk remains salvific and Ludwig Von 88 are its most faithful servants.

Youplapunk to you all!

Tutankhamun is the solo project of young British multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Olly Toomey.

He draws influences from a wide range of instrumental music from the 60s and 70s, things like Zig Zag, Hugh Masekala, Lloyd Miller, George Duke, Tony Allen, The Fetback band, and The Gautiers. After making music from his bedroom, he was discovered by BBC Introducing, and is about to release his first album with the Nice Guys family.

Inspired by soul, jazz and psychedelic music, his first LP is a successful attempt at combining those genres together. All tracks were written, performed, produced and mixed by Olly and was joined by his brother James on the drums for NYR, Sinnerman & Heart of Gold.

It all started with a musical idea - a bass riff or a drum beat - and then grew from that. There isn’t a strict process in the making, the artist just builds his songs until the feeling is right. Following his inspirations and improvising notes, what makes this LP stand out is the will of the artist to give this record a live touch to it, so that the listener can really enjoy the easiness and natural flow of this long-player.

Before the Khmer Rouge took power in 1975, unleashing a horrifying genocide, Cambodia had one of the most vibrant and exciting music scenes in Asia. With a mixture of traditional Khmer music and a myriad of western genres (from French and latin music, to rock-and-roll , rhythm-and-blues, surf, psychedelia, soul and many more) the few pre 75 Cambodian recordings that survived -most of them were destroyed- are enough to make anyone with a taste for good music shocked by the amazing quality of the sounds created during those golden years. Gathered in this amazing album are some of the most talented and unique musicians from that amazing era with an explosive collection of tracks sure to blow the mind of the listener. A celebration of some of the best music ever made.

During the 60's and early 70's, Singapore had one of most vibrant and interesting music scenes in Asia and even the world, and this compilation presents undeniable proof of it. Focusing exclusively on the female presence on the scene (be it as solo singers, backed by other bands or as band leaders) "Singapore Nuggets. The Ladies", presents such and amazing collection of songs many will be shocked by the sheer genius of this ladies. Ranging from Naive Pop to Fuzzed out Garage (and more!) all within the confines of Pop Yeh Yeh, the fresh, colorful, local sound of 60's Singapore in which western influences, Chinese, Arabic and Indian sounds were mixed by the locals to create a wonderfully idiosyncratic style. A must!

Percussionist Takashi Nakazato is well known for his work with Jazztronik and Kyoto Jazz Massive and is now back on Ten Lovers Music with a stunning new Japanese Latin Jazz EP.

The Takashi Nakazato Set are the following musicians featuring over the four tracks; Willy Calderon (Timbales), Yu Hagiwara (Alto Sax/Soprano Sax), Kei Ishi (Baby Bass), Miwa Kashima (Rhodes/Piano), Ryo Kawasaki (Electric Bass/Double Bass), Takahiro Miyazaki (Tenor Sax), Oli Savill (Congas), Ayumi Suzuki (Vibraphone/Marimba), Mitsuru Tanaka (Trumpet), Hayato Yamazaki (Drums) and of course Takashi Nakazato himself (Batá Drums, Cheqere, Cowbell, Claves, Wind Chime, Chaworó, Congas, Bongo, Catá, Iyá, Vibra Slap, Cymbal).

The EP was mixed by Eiji Hirano at Studio Happiness in Japan and mastered by Jose Rico in Madrid, Spain. All four tracks are quality pieces of music in their own right and we were more than happy to commit this to vinyl.

Visions EP , an ode to the heroes, creating that certain Joie de Vivre in the new world order. Visions serve like a bouquet of treats firing on all cylinders.

Cabaret Deluxe kicks off with an uplifting celebration of hooks, horns , bells and efx. Delicately placed over a revving arpeggiated disco bass line. Star Gazer reminds us of those long cherished summer days. Those stand out numbers sounding extra lush in the sunshine.

Night Tribe takes the intensity up yet again with a Moroder type Caribbean workout. Organs and Horns heavenly intertwined.

Disco Nomad is as playful as it is sparse. Smoothly crafted vox cuts glide over a seductive bassline with drum hits sprinkled throughout.

Cosmic Koala and Lucid Keys are back with a Celtic-inspired treat ‘The Tale of the Druids’. Discover the authentic secrets of the long-lost, magical Broéliande forest, and the mysterious origins of the tall pillars of Stonehenge, in this unique project.

Beautiful woodwind instruments call on the elemental forces of nature, accompanied by relaxing guitars and pianos. Each track is named after a divine God - can you hear their presence in the music? // As the music draws together history and imagination, it’s up to you to decide which is real…

Debut album by Elias Mazian on Job Jobse’s label De Vlieger. A collection of Dutch synth-pop songs about love, longing and heartbreak. "The second release on De Vlieger comes from one of my dearest friends. I met Elias almost a decade ago on the dance floor of Trouw (a now defunct Amsterdam nightclub) and quickly became very fond of him. We bonded through music and discovered a mutual fascination for Dutch love songs. So when Elias told me he had started to write lyrics in his own language I was absolutely thrilled. After a long day spent together in his studio, deep down in the basement of the building right across the street from the place we had originally met, I realised this could turn into something really special. In the two years that followed I’ve seen Elias pour his heart and soul into this project, recording seven beautiful love songs that completely conquered my heart, and hopefully yours too." - Job Jobse

Tricatel is proud to release for the first time on vinyl the reissue of this album released in 2001. It is a single vinyl with a printed sub-sleeve containing vintage studio photos.

Inspired by Barthes, who wrote that the resistance would probably be one day in the affirmation of happiness, I wanted to write a happy record, so happy that it would be a provocation.

So I wanted to sing about love in the naive and poetic language that Portuguese is for me. It is the language of secrecy and modesty, of sensuality and eroticism.

So we recorded Azul in the offices/studios of Tricatel in four days. With the Recyclers (Steve Arguëlles, Benoit Delbecq, Christophe Minck), we created these versions on the spot and on ADAT tape for a budget of thirty thousand francs. It is, until now, my album which travelled the most, and which found the most aficionados.
This reissue for the first time on vinyl, almost 23 years later, fills me with joy.

An extraordinary twilight world opens while listening to Organizatisya. Adventurous yet humble, they push the limits towards the unknown. One thing’s for sure, it’s fresher than the juiciest peach on a perfect summer day.

Organizatsiya hail from Lyon, France. Leo and Zoe clearly have strong roots in folk and acoustic music. These ‘old worlds’ blend in surprisingly well with more contemporary digital, futuristic sounds. Soothing analog recordings meet hyperdigital compositions reminiscent of IDM creations and peppered with spoken words that dance around in unexpected ways.

Seductive, intelligent and deeply hypnotic, this esoteric material delivers a dreamlike experience.

Like finishing a game and celebrating victory with cheap champagne in a neon light lit bubble bath with the end tune of The Legend of Zelda in the air.

With great contributions from several guest musicians in this record involved. Designed sleeve and printed inner sleeve by Guilhem Prat.
