In February 2017 "Dear Bigotry", a new album by Norwegian indie band Einar Stray Orchestra will be released. The new record of the band around singer and pianist Einar Stray was created last winter on an island in the north-west-coast of Norway. While winter storms were roaring outside the studio windows the five band members and producers Marius Hagen (frontman of Team Me) as well as Rumble In Rhodos guitarist Øyvind Røsrud recorded the ten songs on their third album. "We write about double moral, a love-hate relationship to Oslo, as well as new aspects of our religious upbringing. The record's maximalistic soundscape is inspired by everything from arabic folk music to Lana Del Rey," explains the band.

The Ship was released in1984, by Luc van Acker as
a solo artist. One of the many projects he ventured into during and after Arbeid Adelt!. As you would expect, this album was perfectly timed and rightfully accompanied others during this extraordinary period where great bands like Neon Judgement and Front 242 represented Belgiums finest in alternative music scene worldwide.

The Ship includes mega hit Zanna', a duet with Anna Domino. This album is a Belgium masterpiece and is considered as a classic!

Luc van Acker's drive to experiment with lyrics and wild arrangements is the unmistakable signature of his work on this album.

Following the recordings in 1949 and 1950 that would comprise Birth Of The Cool and help create the sub-genre of Cool Jazz, Miles had already moved on to the next thing, because that's what an innovator does. By 1951 he was recording hard-bop of the highest order on a variety of formats, including 10" and 7". This LP compiles a number of those recordings into one 12" LP, and the fact that the entire record was recorded on one day, October 5, 1951, would be surprising if it weren't the one and only Miles Davis. Featuring a crack band that included Art Blakey, and Jackie McLean in his very first recording session, this is classic 50s Miles hard-bop of the highest order. Recorded at the Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach, CA, on September 13, 1953, this is a historic recording for many reasons, and one of the earliest meetings of East and West Coast jazz artists. While Miles Davis and Chet Baker need no introduction, Harold Rumsey might. He was a West Coast jazz bassist who formed the Lighthouse All Stars in 1949, a long standing group that performed at the Hermosa Beach club every Sunday night for nearly a decade. Though he might not be a household name, his group featured such alumnus as Jimmy Giuffre, Shorty Rogers, Max Roach, Bud Shank, Sonny Criss, Hampton Hawes, Shelly Manne, and more. Featuring rousing renditions of 'Round Midnight', Night In Tunisia', At Last', and the killer drum solo from Roach, Drum Conversation', this is a brilliant window into the 1950s LA scene, and Miles' particular ability to fit into nearly any jazz setting with ease. London quartet, PIANO WIRE announce their debut album 'Dream Underground' via their own Hanging Houses label. To celebrate the occasion, here's 'Cherry Coma', a relentless hybrid, fusing rock'n'roll, pop sensibilities and their distinctive lopsided song-writing. It's another tale from the darkside, a place all too familiar to the band: "The hallucinations of a dark, neurotic sycophant lost and lonely in his addled obsession". The video is directed by their visual collaborator, Steve Gullick, filmed within the fruity confines of London's notorious Flying Dutchman.

Formerly of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Sym Gharial and Andy Huxley split the duties thusly - Sym on bass and crafting those unique lyrics, Andy singing, writing the music and playing guitar. Their 2015 EP, 'The Genius Of The Crowd' set out the band's stall, discharging 8 blistering pop songs in 20 minutes.

'Dream Underground' shows a giant leap forward in song-writing and approach, realising their aim to make a huge and satisfying rock album that could rattle the ribcages and fuel the imaginations of as many people as possible. It begins in style with the Gil Norton-produced 'Get A Life', a riff-fuelled punch in the gut, which serves as a delicious warning of what is to follow. It's a down and dirty juxtaposition of dark and light, grit and sweetness, grinding riffs and explosive melody - a theme that continues throughout the record. The idea of hedonism and its consequences is often at the heart of their songs. Sym and Andy's experiences have provided a lifetime's worth of inspiration, powering the weirdly wonderful tales of the 'Dream Underground' and beautifully realised in Jude Wainwright original oil paintings, commissioned for Loose Collective.

The literary influence is strong in Piano Wire's approach. Lyricist Sym draws succour from the likes of Oscar Wilde and Chuck Bukowski and the parallels can be seen in a number of places across 'Dream Underground' - I thought I found romance in drinking and hard drugs but realised I had been fooled and was fooling everyone,' he says. I like Oscar Wilde a lot. The lyrics to the tracks are about fucked up, twisted love and being a loner and going mad. The tragedy of old fashioned Romance. Wanting what you can't have. Feeling detested. And Fear. Strong experiences.' Despite the darkness that undercuts many of their tracks, Piano Wire's exuberant aesthetic is uncontrollable on the record's monstrous peaks and choruses.

The Sorrows are a rock band formed in 1963 in Coventry, Warwickshire, United Kingdom by Pip Whitcher, and were part of the British beat boom of the 60s. They were a fixture in the English mod scene.

The Sorrows released their first album, Take a Heart, in
1965 on Piccadilly Records. They played a hard, aggressive version of contemporary R&B, later this style of music was termed freakbeat.

The group's first single entitled "I Don't Wanna Be Free" was received with interest and the potential of the group was particularly remarked upon. The third single "Take A Heart" gave them that elusive break. The song was written by Mike Dallon, a young man in his early twenties, who was just beginning to make his mark as a talent to be reckoned with.

Two more of his compositions, "She's Got The Action" and "Let Me In", are featured on this album and it can be clearly seen that Mike has a strong feeling for the style the Sorrows emulate.

I Paint Pictures on a Wedding Dress from the Belgian band Zita Swoon was originally released in 1998.

Zita Swoon is a group of artists with very different backgrounds gathered together by Stef Kamil Carlens.

Unlike any other band these members share their different views with other members. Stef Kamil Carlens, former dEUS bass-player, is an artistic leader and driving force and naturally created Zita Swoon. He is the composer, songwriter, musician and visual artist he always wanted to be and now felt the freedom to do exactly what he wanted in the studio as well as on stage.

Carlens is a musical sponge who isn't ashamed of his influences but does something with them. This album gave the band opportunity on gigs during festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands, Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter.

The collection, timed to coincide with the album's 30th anniversary, expands on the original with a selection of rare and unreleased recordings, newly remastered sound, plus several music videos.

The deluxe and expanded editions of Tango In The Night both include a disc of rare recordings. Among those 13 tracks are unreleased gems like the alternate version of Mystified,' a demo for the album's title song, plus the rare b-sides: Down Endless Street' and Ricky.'



The deluxe edition includes a third disc that compiles more than a dozen 12' mixes. Dub versions of Seven Wonders' and Everywhere' are featured along with an extended version Little Lies' remixed by John Jellybean' Benitez. The collection also comes with a DVD that contains videos for five singles: Big Love,' Seven Wonders,' Little Lies,' Family Man,' and Everywhere.' Roy Wood is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was particularly successful in the 60s and 70s as member and co-founder of The Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard. As a songwriter, he contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of these bands.

The BBC has described Wood as being responsible for some of the most memorable sounds of the Seventies' and credited as playing a major role in the Glam Rock, Psychedelic and Prog Rock movements'. In 2008, Wood was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to rock and pop by the University of Derby. In 2015, his long and eclectic career was recognized with the Outer Limits' award at the Progressive Music Awards in London. Wood will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of Electric Light Orchestra.

Boulders is the first solo album by Roy Wood. Apart from harmonium on track one played by John Kurlander, all the instruments (including guitars, cello, saxophones, recorders) and voices were recorded by Wood, who also wrote, arranged, and produced the entire album, and did a self-portrait for the front cover. Originally issued on Harvest, the album peaked at No. 15 in the UK Albums Chart.
Two singles were taken from the album, When Gran'ma Plays the Banjo' and Dear Elaine'. The latter reached No. 18 in the UK Singles Chart.

What ever happened to The Avalanches Diese Frage stellte sich gewiss der eine oder andere in den 16 Jahren, die seit dem Release des Debüts "Since I Left You" im Jahr 2000 vergangen sind. Immer wieder poppten seither Gerüchte auf, dass dem Kultalbum ein zweiter Langspieler folgen würde. Nun, eine halbe Ewigkeit später, ist es soweit: "Wildflower" kommt via XL in die Läden. Damit dürfte das Album das am längsten erwartete Zweitwerk der Musikgeschichte sein. Ausgeheckt von Robbie Chater und Tony Di Blasi, ist "Wildflower" eine wilde Achterbahnfahrt durch halsbrecherische Loopings voller Samples, die einem mit schrillen Sounds den Kopf verdrehen. Einen treffenden Einblick ins Geschehen bietet die Vorabsingle "Frankie Sinatra", die in knapp vier Minuten ganze Welten entstehen lässt und standesgemäß mit einem abgefahrenen Video einhergeht. Mit von der Partie sind Danny Brown und MF Doom, während Wilmoth Houdini und Rogers & Hammerstein den Soundteppich ausklopfen. Das Video dazu wurde von Fleur & Manu (Drake, A$AP Rocky, M83) produziert und zeigt eine Handvoll Einwohner von New Orleans, die auf einem Jahrmarkt durch Zufall in Kontakt mit Halluzinogenen kommen und dadurch jeglichen Kontakt zur Realität verlieren.

Und weiter geht es mit der bereits sechsten Folge der beliebten Stag-O-Lee-Serie "Slow Grind Fever". Für deren Zusammenstellung zeichnet DJ Simon Laxton veran twortlich. Wie schon die fünf bisherigen Ausgaben glänzt auch Nummer 6 durch moderate und leicht melancholische, aber extrem groovige Rhythm'n'Blues-Songs der Fünfziger- und frühen Sechzigerjahre. Die stammen zum Beispiel von Little Jimmy Scott, Bo Diddley, Bob Kayli, Bill Doggett, Laverne Baker oder den Delta Rhythm Boys. Das ergibt unterm Strich 14 Stücke, die an der Schwelle zum Soul stehen und szeneintern unter Popcorn laufen. Das Genre wurde einst von belgischen DJs geformt und nach einer Diskothek namens Popcorn benannt. Man kann Popcorn ohne weiteres als Gegenstück zum Northern Soul sehen, bei dem das dynamische Tempo ein zentrales Merkmal darstellt.

A new double-LP of glacial electronics, strung-out drone-punk and smouldering space-rock minimalism from Bremen, the Swedish duo of Jonas Tiljander (Brainbombs) and Lanchy Orre (Brainbombs, Totalitär). The band's points of departure are specific: a particular organ sound from J.A. Seazer 1970s recordings, the squalid alien guitar tone of Chrome, the cranked, psychic roar-out riffage of Hawkwind, the melancholic mode of Swedish jazz pianist Jan Johansson, minimalism from La Monte Young to Eleh, 'cold eighties electronic sound", and sloppy, lo-fi psychedelic rock from the likes of Pärson Sound and Träd Gräs och Stenar. Tiljander's icily poised synth/organ drones and the grieving cosmic howl of Lanchy's guitar dominate the landscape, but Bremen's instrumental palette has also expanded to include various percussion treatments, saxophone, strings, dissolved vocal fragments. Their exploratory jamming, overdubbing and dub-savvy mixing yield a music of unbelievable eloquence and physicality, and Eclipsed is another masterpiece of black-hole psychedelia from one of the greatest underground rock'n'roll units on the planet.

In 2014 they released their self titled debut album, with four tracks that all conclude around the 10 minute mark. The band was defined as "the persuasiveness of a steamroller with the instinct of a stamp collector".
To emphasize their release they buried 20 copies across the country, gradually releasing the coordinates.

After a successful tour through Belgium and the Netherlands, the second album, aptly named "II", will be released on February 24th, 2017.

Picking up where they left off on the 2007 compilation 'Lost & Found - Rockabilly & Jump Blues', Keb Darge & Cut Chemist join forces once again, this time to explore the wonderful world of 1960s Garage music. While Rockabilly could be defined as a DIY emulation of the music of Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and others by young American artists, Garage was heavily influenced by British bands of the day like the Beatles, Kinks & Rolling Stones. Simple drum kits, guitars and the occasional organ keep the sound honest and raw, retaining a palpable sense of excitement even to this day. With a multitude of bands springing up all over the SA, many of these wonderful records were released in tiny numbers, making certain titles almost impossible to find. Keb Darge's love affair with this intriguing genre happened almost by accident, while on the hunt for obscure Northern Soul records. "Dj Shadow told me I would like Garage years ago, but I didn't listen." Hearing a few records he liked and being assured by collectors that they were classified as 'Garage' got him hooked, so for the last years he's been digging obsessively for the stuff. Knowing Cut Chemist was a collector, he suggested they collaborate on compilation, and 'The Dark Side' was born. 30 obscure records, some of which change hands for frightening amounts of money, all with wonderful stories attached as told in Keb's encyclopedic and entertaining liner notes 'This compilation is not aimed at the many collectors of this wonderful style of music. I am a very late arrival on this scene, and still have a hell of a lot to learn, and buy. Cleveland's legendary Dead Boys were the very essence of punk: raw, visceral, brutal, and a whole lot of fun. Following the release of their appropriately titled debut, Young, Loud, and Snotty, Stiv Bators and crew rolled into the Old Waldorf in the city by The Bay and tore the place apart. "Sonic Reducer" could not be a more appropriately titled tune, breaking music down to it's raw, reduced, emotional base. It's hard to find a band more punk than Dead Boys, and there's very few live shows that show their raw power more than this one, another unbeatable radio broadcast on Radio X.

After cutting his teeth in the late '70s no wave scene with bands Theoretical Girls and The Static, Glenn Branca made his first solo statement, Lesson No. 1, in 1980. The inaugural release on legendary post-punk / dance label 99 Records, Lesson No. 1 unveiled Branca's visionary guitar concepts with two monstrous, side-long compositions that helped forge NYC's downtown art-punk sound and acted as a massive influence on countless young groups, including Sonic Youth and Swans.
The title track is easily Branca's most accessible moment, its driving beat and interlocking patterns resemble German pioneers Neu! playing Phillip Glass. Never before (or since) has minimalism sounded so euphoric. Dissonance' is the A-side's polar opposite. Dark, skittish and unhinged, Branca leads his band (guitar, keyboard, bass, drums and sledgehammer) through block after block of industrial terror, leaving listeners drained in the process.
Soon after the release of Lesson No. 1, Branca began to work on ambitious, long-form symphonies. Bad Smells,' included here as a single-sided bonus 12-inch, was commissioned in 1982 as a dance piece for choreographer Twyler Tharp and originally released on a split LP with John Giorno. Featuring Sonic Youth guitarists Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore, Bad Smells' is a thrilling multi-section guitar assault that foretells much of Branca, Ranaldo and Moore's work for the next decade.

The Velvet Underground, live at The Boston Tea Party on 10th January 1969

Doug Yule joined the VU in October 1968, and had become an important contributor to the band by early 1969. This superb live set was taped on January 10th at the Boston Tea Party, which Lou Reed once described as his favorite place to play, and finds the quartet tearing through a series of extended and reworked versions of their classics, with fiery guitar interplay throughout.

The Boston Tea Party was that venue's leading underground rock club, and something of a home from home for the Velvet Underground. Lou Reed even described it as his favorite place to play in the late 60s.
